The Mighty Storm defender I7 guide: Semprini
This guide is truly awesome, as it the writing style. 5 Stars!
Now I'm going to make yet-another-Storm-Defender-this-Issue; as I am now utterly sure that my previous debt-infested mitigation-lacking /Storm alts were due to a PEBKAC problem.
Thanks for writing this!

This is the quintessential (yes, I had to look up the spelling but it's the only word that fits.) TMS post:
38% of it made me laugh,
57% of it registered an error on my universal translator,
16% of it gave me a glimpse into a larger, brighter universe.
I have not, as yet, spawned a Storm Offender nor do I plan on it at this time. I have no idea if your guide is either useful or accurate. To be honest, I invested the time in reading it based purely on your past history of posting.
That all sounds very goo-goo-crushy-fanboi-y and slightly creepy-crawly-stalker-y. Not to worry, I don't play any stalkers either. Let's just say that I thoroughly enjoy your posts and leave it at that.
Please don't let any of this go to your head because [deadpan]your total lack of ego or vanity is part of what makes your posts enjoyable[/deadpan][/sarcasm]...

Oh, I forget to insert the ([sarcasm]) box..well I'm sure you can figure out where it was supposed to go.
Anyway, thanks for the 20 minutes of smiles...

what?..

No-one else had to keep stopping and re-reading the last two paragraphs??.. sh-aa..

Thanks for the great guide! I can see another alt looming in my future...

Between [changes], it's a set that has frustrated and saddened me.

I feel the same about Empathy, my first character type since I joined a month or two after the game opened.
However, using your posts, I created a Storm defender on Freedom a few months ago and have really had a lot of fun.
Thanks so much for the entertaining and informative guide!
I have a Grav/Storm controller and a Fire/Storm controller (and many other controllers, I'm a controller freak).
Still in the 20s, so still learning how best to use Hurricane which is the main reason why I looked at the guide.
I like the ideaq of using teleport for placement without scatterring them by running through or jumping/flying over.

Allow me to necro this bad boy. I just wanted to say that this is hands down the best guide I've ever read. Hilarity, offense, 1984 references for mod's sake. It's amazing.
I just started a Storm/Dark last night on a whim, and that whim kept me whimsical through 7 levels. I had a blast (darkly) and came to the forums today to see if anyone else had noticed the cripsiness of this set before me. I'm ashamed to say it took me so long.
Nicely done. Float on.

O2 boost and steamy mist protect the team more than they protect you. The stealth component of steamy mist (which, conveniently, extends about as far as the perimeter of mist--for teammate coverage--and is good for about the radius of the mist, meaning, as long as something is outside the mist and has a typical vision range, it won't see you. Rikti drones, and snipers, obviously, having longer vision range, and this rule of thumb doesn't hold true for them. Perception adjustments also complicate this).

Steamy mist really needs to be called out for some attention here. For starters, the benefits apply equally to you and teammates. If anything it is more useful to you since you're the only one guaranteed to always be in range of it.
Completely omitted from the discussion are the benefits it provides on top of stealth. Resist to fire/cold/energy is highly useful covers a broad swath of the incoming damage vs a variety of npcs. Slotted for resist, it takes a noticable bite out of those dmg numbers.
Steamy mist also grants you a small amount of defense. Taken alone it's not that significant but if you're getting defense from other sources it all adds up and on top of -acc from hurricane makes you that much more untouchable.
Taken together, the stealth, resist and def from steamy mist give you great bang for the buck even if you're solo and the benefits just multiply as you add teammates.
That was amazing!!!
Its almost 2 am and I'm a little tired, so it might not be as funny as I think that it is right now..... bit I'm going to believe in my heart that is indeed hysterical, while being rather useful at the same time.
I <3 TheMightyScourge!! Maybe I'll make a t-shirt! or chocolate with your name on it.... okay I just want the chocolate..
Anyway, great guide!! *runs off to play stormie*

Great write-up! How did I miss this before?

ha!
Just a note for all out there... the debuffs of freezing rain persist long after the knockdown patch. The patch lasts for 15s but the debuffs (which are fairly big: -30DEF, slows, -RECH, -RES, it really does rival RAD) last for 45s. 45 out of 1 minute recharge to be exact. Since hurricane and gale do enough knockdown for me, I use FR mainly for the debuff and don't care if anything gets knocked out of it.
Also, I may be wrong, but I think if any mob within the 15s comes in contact, they get the debuff for an additional 45s. So you can easily lay down the patch on one mob, push another into it, and lay down more storm.
I think people would benefit more from storm if they treated FR like a 15s window to get a really good 45s debuff.
Oh... the wisdom dripping from this Defender's lips... pure gold.
It is decided. A Storm/Elec defender will be my next project.
a well done guide. I like the humor. I will share with you some of my thoughts on my Storm/elec/elec defender which I have played in one form or another since coh beta.
O2: Love it or hate it. Since I do solo now and then I didn't take it. I don't like having a power I can't use if I solo. Also when I did take in some builds to many teams have crazy expectations of this ghetto heal. What iced the cake for me was that on a team once I was trying to target this one player whose health was dropping fast and it would not work.
Turn out it was me.
I took the second Blast: I know it is more "efficent" to slot up the first and not take the second but I would rather have one larger hit then a series of small one.
Aim: had it on all builds, never ever heard of anyone having problems with this power. When you are facing down reds or purples this will allow you to hit when otherwise you might not.
Stayed away from AOE in my secondary: The aoe damage in the electric secondary is sad and all the scattering abilites of Storm make me happy with concentrating on single target damage.
Three pets= :Thunderstorm, tornado and voltaic sent. all allow me to stay in the fight even if I am mezzed and that happens more then I would like.
Hasten: Cycling through your heavy attacks etc. makes a big difference.
Stamina: While it is never -required- it sure makes a big difference in Storm elec!
Thunder Storm does miss: I know people say it never misses but I have seen it miss with my own two eyes.
