The other topic was a lil bit off topic... thought I'd start a new thread.

Soleau GCX lvl 28 -

Recharge: 60
Duration: 120
Hasten: ~36
3 +0 Recharge: ~31
Hasten and 1 Rec: ~30

lvl 25 Brute Base HP: 820
HP with Frostwork: 1120 [36.50% HP Boost]

Wow. If I'm reading those numbers right, then consider me impressed. Nice work

EDIT: I was just looking through my CoH planner and it shows the duration for Frostwork as 45sec. Was there a change somewhere that bumped it to 120?

On the test forums there was some indication that the heal enhancements in Dull Pain were causing more than just the hp increase in heal points to be healed. Can you test on a damanged Brute to see if there is indeed an additional heal component?

I remain quite puzzled as to why this already great power got a buff, esp given the devs penchant for nerfing the hell out of things. If this is only to alleviate the woes of some tankers (on the CoH side), then there will surely be calls from other tankers to get their own buffs, possibly just resulting in the recall of this upgrade.

i can only hope it was due to my spam to devastatus in PM's and again to statesman about how it was underperforming and could be a good power if it scaled better.

but, i doubt it!

and tanks can whine all they want, they still have a higher cap on armors and status protections.

I would suspect they want to make it something you can put six slots in like the other heal powers. HP increase was the theme of the power so they went that route rather than more healing power. Frostwork was probably drawn up to work this way but the code wasn't ready in time for release.

I suspect we will see a general trend where more and more powers can be six slotted to useful effect.

We found a bug in how +HP powers were working. The fix changed the powers so that Max HP were now enhanceable. Rather that disable that, we left it in as a bonus (though if I remember right, some are only half enhanceable.)

while it's done for Dull Pain specifically, the mechanics behind it apply to all powers that boost Max HP.

You are overlooking the fact that the /cold set doesn't come with a actual heal. This is the best feature buff the set offers and it did and does need the tweak.

It will be nice to have but remeber someone with the /cold can't heal those wounds like a actual healer/defender. So even the great buff mixed in with some of the shields still won't allow a /cold corruptor to replace or compete with the powers of the tanks in CoH.

The point still stands that this is a huge boost to tanker, scrapper, brute, and stalker sets that get +Max HP powers that dramatically affects the balance between these sets and other sets in the same AT that don't have similar powers. Reading that the change was accidental, and left in as something of an afterthought does not reassure me that the developers carefully thought out its impact on intra-AT set balance.

not really. in terms of HP regen and overall amount, it's really not that huge, about 300 extra HP at level 50. It's only half enhanceable, so that 40% increase can only get up to about 58%.


Level 50 is a journey, not a destination.

UMMMM yea I did I do have a lvl 50 bubbler.... again reread my statement ... I was talking about cold in general comparsion to defender's (90% of the AT have heals) and corruptors (most of the other sets have some type of major buff/debuff of some sort... without frostwrork the cold set is left out in the cold.... but I guess your to fine tuned to figure that out.

It's a bit early to cry gloom and doom over a hp enhancement. If you look at the hp generated per second it is a lot lower than any other self heal or single target heal. It's biggest aid will be for taking alpha strikes and surviving big Hero hits. That makes it good power for thinking players but nothing overwhelming.

I don't remember my lvl50 FF/Rad defender having a heal either. He didn't get a grant-DP like power though. esp not one that, while already good at 40%, got boosted to reaching +80% levels.

Let's see. For scrappers:

2100 is greater than 1500 (Scrapper HP at 50 with DP vs. without)

2400 is MUCH greater than 1500 (Scrapper HP at 50 with enchanced DP vs without)

I'd say it looks pretty significant to me. I'm mainly talking about a PvP perspective here. Those extra 300 HP mean surviving a few more hits, which gives more time to heal/run away/kill the opponent etc...

A few hundred HP make a big difference. People seem to accept the fact that stalkers are 'squishy' (when not hidden) while scrappers are pretty tough, and yet the only difference between stalker level defense and scrapper level defense is a few hundred HP!
