When choosing Brute what did you pick?
Gorestone - SS/Stone.
I really dig it. Same build I used in the PvP events and tested slightly in Beta. I also have a EM/EA, and DM/Invuln. All are concept. I won't PvP much. So I just build 'em for fun.
I've got me my Stone/Stone. He's workin' his way up there, at 14 by now.. but I'm not looking back.
When I decide to play something a bit different, I'll go to my Fire/Fire Brute. I played that build a lot in beta, including the PvP events. I was kind of disappointed with his performance against the heroes, but in PvE, I really don't know if anything could do much better. It was great and very, very, fiery.
After getting a SS/Energy brute up to 31 in beta I decided to go with Dark/Energy for live.
I noteced that with my beta brute he could run forever with stamina and end drain and the only thing slowing him down was the lack of some kind of heal. Also in PvP my targets would constantly run around not standing still long enough for me to gets some hits in on them. I figured that the heal and fear from the dark melee set plus the -accuracy from the attacks would go well with energy armor being a def based set.
Not sure if I'm going to get the end drain in dark melee and I'm definatly skipping conserve power. Having 4 ways to get back end would be alittle overkill.

Went with a Dark/Energy Brute myself.
Shadow Maul + Rage = Fun.
I also plan on making a Stone/Dark as well.
Smashy Smashy.

Ravyn Starr - 50 DM/EA (Liberty)

I picked DM/Fire because of the 2 self heals.
Murk Eidolon, enough said. Eidolons are my favorite bosses, so it's a no brainer that I had to make a DM/DA Brute. I also made Luminous Eidolon, a Rad/Therm Corruptor, even though they are Rad/Rad.

I'm also one of the few who dared what some have called the "Weak SR". Dark Melee/Energy Aura seems the best compliment. Like someone said earlier, the only thing EA is really missing is a heal, which DM provides... it also beef things up a bit with a little control (fear) and a bit of a boost in defense through the To-Hit Debuff in the attacks. It is a little weak on Res, but so far I'm having fun with it.
EM/Dark for the look. And because of Total Focus.
I decided to go with Nrg/Inv, so far the toon is a lot of fun
I made a DM/FA Brute. But he is just my deleted DM/SR reborn as a Villain.
In beta I went energy/dark. Just for kicks. The sounds still drive me apeshite, so no dark armor for me still.
My main in CoV is Louis Cypher. Energy/Fire for he is Lucifer, after all. The flames of hell burn brightly. And I so dig the sounds of energy punches. Up to 19.. feelin fine.
Be well, people of CoH.
Surprised I haven't seen mine yet - EM/Stone. Little bit of endurance issues at times, but nothing huge. Get a self-heal AND regen w/status protection albeit at greatly reduced speed. S'okay though since his Swift is already 3 slotted.
Brutes are definitely a blast to play no matter the powerset(s).
Bloody Axe Inv/Axe - Champion
Dying Cooper Spi/Reg - Champion
Power Rock Stone/EM - Justice
Mistress Magma Fire/Kin - Freedom
I loves me some Fire DA. I'm having a grand time with it so far. Purple bosses are the only thing that have given me some trouble so far.
Quake. Super Strength/Invuln Brute. Powers like Footstomp, Haymaker and Handclap make him live up to his name.
Stone/Stone
nothing SMASHES! like a big stone hammer.
Stone/Stone
Hard to dispute a red name choice.
I'm all over fire/dark, but mostly because my pirate brute needs a sword!
Basher is a Energy/Fire Loving it too, lots of fun.
i choose Stone/DA
in beta i tried Stone/Stone, and found it wasn't very Fury friendly, with the slooooooooooow movement, and then to overcome that u need teleport, which is an end hog unless havily slotted, also the -damage and -recharge in Granite. Just my thoughts though
Guardian
Super Dude, Stone/Stone tank, lvl 50

Ultra Evil Dude, robots/force field mastermind, lvl 42

DM/DA at first, but I'll probably have as many Brutes as I have Scrappers (I've got 5 lvl 50s and probably a couple dozen lowbies).
Currently roleplaying, badgehunting, and laughing at the PvPers of CoX. lol, PvP.
Truedusk - Human Rogue
Stone/DA. Between the 'Whack-a-Mole' and 'Golf Swing' animations with the stone hammer, I can't go any other route.

Stone/invul and stone/da
I said it once and I'll say it again
HAMMER SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!!
I have a couple, but the two I am most interested in are my stone/stone concept brute, and my Ss/inv brute Kenworth, the arch enemy of my Inv/ss tank Peterbilt
I tried DM/DA in Beta ... liked it because of the Death Shroud but eventually, the constant whining sound of the DA set just wore me down.
Playing Dark Melee/Stone on live right now. Only up to level 8 so far but still enjoying it.
Energy Melee and Fire Aura. I like the disorient and energy damage, that and Bone Smasher, Total Focus and Energy Transfer are serious single target killers. I like fire because of the minimal toggle use, no-target heal and rez, and consume.
I of course will be trying many other builds but this is what I've enjoyed most thus far.
