  1. I purchased $109.00 worth of Paragon Points on 7/5/2012. I've used all of 1000 leaving a balance of 8900 or so...no refund here?

I guess I should be happy that I'll at least receive most of the subscription I paid for on 6/24/2012.

    Thanks NCSoft (not).

No, I'm not done with these sets, this was just a quick update while I was thinking about it.

'Quick' animations -- You guys are right, in the comics, Archery is seen as very fast and accurate. Fortunately, they don't have to animate them...they just draw as many arrows flying as the story warrants (see Manticore in our comic, for an example.) In the game, having all the animations be as quick as snap shot would definitely decrease the visual appeal of the set. If any of you have ever seen a movie called "Hawk, the Slayer" you'll remember how absolutely silly the archer in that looked. A similar effect would happen in CoX if we animated all the shots that quickly.

Not putting the bow away when using other powers. Brawl is the only attack power in the game that allows you to not put your weapon away when attacking with it. Brawl also took more animation time by several multiples than any other power in the game. Doing something similar with every power which could be used in conjunction with Archery/Trick Arrow simply isn't feasible.

Endurance costs. I did a pass on these a few weeks ago. I honestly don't remember which powers were changed at that time, but there were 2 or 3 that were the wrong cost. Trick Arrow is more problematic in this regard, and I've not looked at them yet.

They need to get that out on DVD

Just spent 2+ hours of my life reading this thread and I didn't see the following solution:

REMOVE Isolator from the game completely...anyone...anyone?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Finally another brave soul willing to think outside the box on this one.

My own compromise solution that I proposed on this thread involved leaving Isolator and the means to get it alone but instead retroactively adding a new accolade badge for all (and only) pre-I2 types to achieve the badge numbers balance since they had no fair chance to get Isolator.

While I think both of our ideas would address the problem very simply and cleanly, I think more people would be in favor of a few old timers getting a brand new badge rather than a larger group of players losing an already earned badge they spent real time getting.

Besides, the Devs currently have a fairly strong anti badge removal mindset. Up until now they have only chosen to remove an odd badge or two from a select few people for extraordinary circumstances. I kinda like that and I'd rather not give them any excuse to remove the entire existence of given badges from everyone. Who knows where that could lead?... *as she ponders a few nice costume options that have disappeared from the game without replacement for apparently little more than arbitrary reasons*

  4. Just spent 2+ hours of my life reading this thread and I didn't see the following solution:

REMOVE Isolator from the game completely...anyone...anyone?

Seriously, it's seems silly to me to argue so vehemently over an electronic bitmap/jpg/whatever. Just my opinion though.

I DO NOT have Isolator on my main, but I DO have it on my badge hunter. I should say reformed badge hunter - since badges are introduced with such frequency these days (and with astronomical requirements) that my desire to actually 'hunt' them any longer is waning.

So back to my 'remove the badge' suggestion. What about it? I wouldn't give a hoot if all the alts I have lose Isolator and those that DON'T have it would then have nothing to complain about since their badge count could equal a competing character. Oh, but then some of those that do have the badge might get miffed...darn.

    Ain't life a pain?

I must say in regards to my next statement that it is ONLY my opinion and not meant to offend anyone...

The discussion boils down to those that HAVE and those that have NOT - why? Because I can't get the same badge count as 'Jojobobbysmooker' since he has Isolator and I can't get that badge! Maybe that's not what the pro group is all about, but that's what it seems to imply to me. And yes, SOME of the anti group seems to be in the same camp, "I have it and you don't so TOO BAD." Though there seems to be more reasons to not implement it that there are to do so.

Any way - would have liked to see this thread die, but since I spent so long reading it I wasn't going to let it go without some comment.

Did this customer deserve the pliers? Sure, but does he deserve them for the lower price because he found them in a 99 cent bin? No, why because he may have said they were there to try and get away with a 99 cent deal or some kid placed them there by mistake, as long as the price was on the pliers then the customer was wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It depends...

If the pliers were the only pair in there, then no the customer shouldn't get the lesser price.

But if the pliers got stocked there (more than one set), then yes they do get the price, within reason.

The first is someone being lazy and dropping it off somewhere (you, of course, never ever go by the philosphy that the customers are trying to cheat you ).

The second is a store employee making a mistake, then the store gets to pay for it. Where I work we have a five dollar rule - any discrepencies over 5 bucks goes to a manager. Something like the pliers... we probably would of offered the guy 5 bucks off. But not 19.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And for the customer that finds a .99 price tag on another item and swaps it for the pliers? Of course, the manager has no way of knowing if an employee marked it in error or if he's dealing with a sneaky person.

I've worked in industries most of my life that are rife with fraud - who commits that fraud? The CUSTOMER!

I think the saying should be re-worded to say, "The customer is right WITHIN REASON."

With exemplaring this allowed you to go back and complete certain TFs you missed, Trials..ect..ect.. all in which offered a badge for you to award yourself with once you have completed it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I could be mistaken, but I was under the impression that exemplaring was instituted so that high level SG players could play with lower level SG players (or non-SG for that matter). The 'content experience' was an added benefit.

    oookay...
How much infl is it worth to you? Say... 100,000?
    The price is too high.

In five minutes I'm taking my business elseware.

    I thought I smelled spandex!

    [/ QUOTE ]

ROTFLMAO! I actually hadn't considered influence - just a straight trade for say, Hungry Joe's Isolator for Peppy's Infiltrator. Influence isn't a bad idea, but seeing as there really isn't a good sink for it at the moment I doubt many would accept it as a form of payment.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
If I could, I would give you my badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now there's an IDEA! BADGE TRADING!!! Woo! Hoo!
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    Oh oh oh oh OH!

And time travel missions for the Halloween badges.

    And for the celebrant badge.

    And for the winterlord badges.

    And for the christmas badge.

    And for the V-Day badges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. PLEASE! My main missed the Winterlord (Frozen Fury). He does have Isolator, but that was due to my deletion at level 18 or so because I was unhappy with the build. Then on the other hand my SG Main doesn't have Isolator and I'm not really freakin' out if he never gets it.

Bottom Line: If the devs allow 'time-travel' or whatever to get Isolator then the other 'event' badges better be made available in the same fashion or I'll start a thread complaining about not having Frozen Fury.

And yes, I understand the 'supposed' difference between the two badges in question. One is still attainable and the other was an event badge. A previous poster mentioned that he/she was away when the Celebrant badge was available and was unable to get it. Such is life (and such is life if an alt didn't get Isolator). Create another character for heaven's sake! The devs have stated that it is NOT their intention for one character to be able to obtain EVERY badge in game, hence replayability.

I would give installing it into a directory without spaces in the name a try. That might help. It can be a little picky sometimes.

HA! Thanks Frost! YOU ROCK! That did it!
  11. Still receiving the same errors.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've tried a couple of different binds and methods of loading, but nothing is helping.

Just because my information says "looking for any team", my icon still says "not looking for team". I'm not going to change my information box every time I switch between the two. If I'm looking for a group, I'll put myself into "looking for any group" status.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course, some people assume that "looking for team" comment means looking for team. We call those people "literate" and throw rocks at them.

  13. Okay - I've tried this a number of ways and continue to receive errors:

When I try the program by itself I get the following:

Usage bind uses 1 arg you are using 4

Now I believe I understand that this means there are too many spaces in the string - here is what I'm typing in the chat window:

    /bind_load_file "c:\Program Files\City of Heroes\teleport\reset.txt"

I've also tried the install program, but get the error that a msvcrt.dll file is already in use and then I exit and VB stops responding.

I'll keep trying, but thought I would post to see what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for any help!

P.S. I should mention in passing that I'm a complete idiot when it comes to binds (unless they're adjustable via the options menu in game )

Blind group invites are good in my book. At times its hard enough to get a group in the first place. A lot of people are like me and pass right over people that are bitter to blind invites. To me and my friends if the comment says "no blind invites" what it really means is "I don't want to team with anyone". I also noticed something else strange... if you say "no blind invites" you tend to get spammed with team invites a lot, lol. That should tell you something...

    [/ QUOTE ]

If 'No Blind Invites' means the same as 'I don't want to team,' I've been putting the wrong message in that box all this time.

Seriously, I rarely accept blind invites, but I will on occassion (and just as rarely does it turn out very well when I do). For those players that take 5-10 seconds to send me a tell stating 'want to help with TF, mission or whatever,' I can then determine if I have the time and desire to join said team. Nothing bugs me more than a team invite and 2 seconds later a TF is started without so much as a 'What's Up?' I know this is a MMO so I'll live with it, but I can still complain about it should the mood strike me.

I don't think it matters what you put in that box as someone named 'ImOnCrAcK38457' is bound and determined to get you on a team.
  15. This is certainly good advice for our fellow Heroes, but Villians...? That's what they do!
  16. Surprised I haven't seen mine yet - EM/Stone. Little bit of endurance issues at times, but nothing huge. Get a self-heal AND regen w/status protection albeit at greatly reduced speed. S'okay though since his Swift is already 3 slotted.

Brutes are definitely a blast to play no matter the powerset(s).

Okay, I really hate to drag this out, but the perfectionist in me must know...what exactly are you referring to?

And just for the record, I'm no habitual forum spell checker. I just think it's hilarious when someone tries to correct someone else's english and gets it wrong themselves. Hence, the irony. But I'm more than willing to accept that I've made an error myself. Please point it out. I don't see it.

No error that I can see. I believe iNdyi is just doing his or her best to troll.
  18. Yet another voice touting the usefulness of this power at low levels and the uselessness at higher.

I think idea of 'Defiance' is a great one, but the implementation (at least for higher levels) needs some definite tweaking.
  19. I had this same mission '
Heracles' with my Inv/EM tanker. Had no problem clearing the entire mission, but the boss. Couldn't generate NEAR enough damage to take him down. Lucky for me I play with 2 other gamers most nights so they helped me with it.

I love to solo! Love to group to at times too, but soloing allows so much more freedom and relaxation. I don't have to worry about what anyone else is doing, just me. Usually when I run into a mission that requires a team (the simultaneous bomb difusing comes to mind) I'll just send out a broadcast for help or let the mission expire (in timed cases) depending on my mood.

I won't stop playing CoH for the forseeable future, but it would be nice if they offered some options for those that like to solo exclusively.
  20. Okay, I realize regen is getting beat to death here, but my two cents.

My DM/Regen Scrapper just hit 28. I've been attempting the respec TF for sometime now. 6-7 deaths later I'm no closer.

It seems from my LIMITED experience that IH is awesome against 1 on 1 mob fights. Gather a group of +1 to +2 con mobs and it's not that great. Certainly a defining power of the set, but it's not like Invincibility...IMHO.

I sincerely thank Statesman for the post...it's very nice to see what's happening in the future.

My bottom line concern with the Regen set is that Scrappers ARE the solo class. I LIKE to solo when my SG is not online (10-15 hours per week). I usually solo with my DM/Regen Scrapper...I only hope to be able to continue to solo as I am now...and finally complete that dang respec TF.

    Thanks again Statesman!
  21. I attempted the respec TF 3 times this weekend. The first two times the team(s) had too big of a level spread.

My question to all of the posters that keep saying all it takes is a good team. Are you people charismatic magnets or what? Except for a few short breaks I SAT at the TF contact most of Sunday. As I mentioned I got on 3 teams - all of which failed. The last one failed because we lost one member during the first mission and another in the third and even then we never made it past the first room in the Reactor mission...I had my doubts as to our ability to complete the actual 'Reactor' portion anyway.

So I 'get' the level spread issue. Here is the problem with that. Because only 1-5% of players read this forum VERY few people know how to complete the TF. And worse yet, even fewer care to listen to someone that seems to know what they are talking about. This issue arose during the 2nd team...had a member that I played with eariler and she tried in vain to tell the rest how the SKs and Exemps should be done so that we we're closer in level, but IQ was at a premium and everyone wanted to be SK'd so they we're powerful.

And someone previously posted that they faced GREEN con mobs???? What TF was this? I've never seen less than purple bots and skiffs in the third mission. And that was in the Reactor mission (not Reactor itself) when I WAS the highest level on team.

Finally, what tactics are you all using? If you DON'T have a frickin' tank (as that was the RAREST AT on Sunday). Saw MAYBE two in the entire time I was there.

I'm on the fence as to saying the TF is too hard as is. It seems that a lot of people are able to complete it (though a solid C grade for completion is a bit questionable to me ).

Obviously the biggest issue is a solid team. This is also the most difficult aspect to accomplish (as my experience of yesterday can attest).

Tactics...hmmm...I'll be honest. I'm frickin' lazy. I'd rather not stand around for 15 minutes while 4 people bicker about which bot, skiff or engineer to attack first. I'm not saying that I don't use tactics at times, but not on the level required for this TF or at least it seems that way. Now, if a team has a good leader that knows what the hell is going on I'm always for being the good little pion that does exactly as they're told.

Oh well, I'm pretty easy going so with my 5 deaths yesterday and 30k+ debt (yes, I know that is a minimal number, but it's like over 10 times the most I've ever had), I'll keep trying the TF until I hit the debt cap and then it won't matter one way or the other.
