Thanks for coming up with this guide. I just started a Darkness Control toon and this is going to help out quite a bit.

The real problem with Cold is the graphical effects, same with Cold Armour. I can't even begin to imagine the pain of spending my entire exsistance with 7 snowmen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Its awesome. Its like having your own frosty the ice golem army.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless you're the defender creating the golems, the graphical effects get really annoying. That's my point of view, but I suspect it's shared by others. I don't go through all the effort in the costume generator so the results can be obliterated by someone's overbearing ice shields. And it gets difficult to keep track of who's who on the team when they all look the same.
Don't get me wrong, I love the defense the shields give, but the fx suck.
[/ QUOTE ]
How is this different from storm defender using hurricane or a sonic defender making everything boom orange or a FFer making everyone look like hamsters in rolly balls?
[/ QUOTE ]
A force field make my character look like my character with a bubble around them.
Sonic shields make my character look like my character with a strong orange glow around them.
Cold shields make my character look like a humanoid block of ice and if I look carefully I can see my character inside.
The difference is that with the Cold Shields the effect is seen first before the character. With most other buffs, the character is seen first, then the effects.
Its subjective, but it comes up in pretty much every thread about Cold Domination. Isn't that enough to indicate that it's a problem?
Cold Domination is an awesome set in terms of game mechanics, but many people's first reaction is that its the one with ugly shields.
It's not as bad as the problems Sonic had with its old migraine inducing effects, but I think its enough to keep the population of Cold Defenders lower than it could be.
[/ QUOTE ]
My cold defender is probably my fastest lvling toon so far from all the teams i've been on. Probably because there weren't that many cold defs when I first rolled this toon. The only complaints I got were when someone's shields needed to be refreshed.
I'll admit it is kinda hard to see the costumes and such through the shields.
I dunno if toning down the armor like they did with DA would help or not, but it couldn't hurt. -

I just want to give a big THANK YOU to Mids. Not only did his application make the game more fun to me to play, but honestly, it made planning a character into an hours-long fun mini game in and of itself. I cannot count how many times I've been entertained for half an evening or more SIMPLY due to the pleasure of planning out and tweaking out character builds that I may or may not actually play.
What an incredible tool for the imagination!

Yes I too will say thanks to Mids' programI as well have been using Mids for a while now and when I'm bored or thinking of a new character to do, I launch Mids and plan out the build. It's really fun to see/think how "uber" the character can/will be....
To be honest it's 'more fun' for me to do a new character in Mids than it is to do in the actual game....in the actual game I don't get all the nice purple-y IOs (or set IOs in general) :P Plus I can go all the way to lvl 50 in a matter of a minute!

This. hehe
Thanks for making the game more enjoyable Mids ! -

Hi!

My brother got me this game for my birthday...5 years ago. He's regretted it ever since. heh
Favourite thing #1: all the friends i've made on here. I definitely wouldn't still be playing if it wasn't for them. Some i've met in real life and have been the better for it.
Favourite thing #2: figuring out how cool my dark/dark def (my first toon) was after they fixed him...and 3 fluffies...good times.
Favourite thing #3: Dracula X ASing/stunning my scrapper somehow in Warburg a while back and getting me to seriously rethink my build. heh I doubt you'll remember, but I did. Ouch... -

Love the new 'deflected' instead of 'miss'.
Actual onscreen evidence of FF buffs etc having an effect.

Maybe now other methods of damage mitigation than TEH HEALZ will be recognised, eh?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, probably the biggest QoL upgrade for non-healers. Forcefield, Radiation and Dark will all be "appreciated" for what they do.

My dark defender may weep for joy.
As for the defense changes, from what i've read so far i'm looking forward to testing out the changes on my SR scrapper and EA brute when i get home.
My scrapper's been running on invincible with little trouble (solo of course).
Gonna crank it up on my brute to see how she fares.
My regen just got MoG recently (morbid curiosity)...it's not TOO bad so far, i'm just waiting for the law of suckage (or is it averages) to kick in and prove to me it sucks. heh
right now my death/MoG ratio is about 2/5, i think. -

The old CS from MA would have been great as well.

thank you for the support.
of interest: I have Updated My Guide to make it i7 & ED compliant.
It just so happens that the guide to guides has not been changed to refect that... yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
that was GREAT ! haha
even after my main hit 50, there were quite a few storyarcs i didn't get...missed most of the 40+ arcs cuz i was teaming with my SG mates and friends so much...so i rolled some alts to pick up the slack.
did the WoW trial and just didn't click with me for some reason, which sucked a bit cuz i loved the Warcraft games...ah well. -

The number of hours I've put into the site plus what it costs me in real money .. there's no-one in the world who would pay what I'd value the site at even if I wanted to sell it
[/ QUOTE ]
woo hoo, i can play again ! ! j/k glad the site's back up, i felt really dumb without it...haha -

We know the truth Red Tomax, this was just a ploy on your part to generate more votes in the Players Choice awards by depriving us of your wonderous site and making us realize how hollow and empty our COH lives are without it.

lol ... Didn't work on many folks judging by the results either .. vidiot stormed away with both website competitions ... there's always next year, I better come up with a better plan
[/ QUOTE ]

When you bought and still own an original Atari 2600 before it was called an Atari 2600. Nothing says gaming goodness as a gaming system made out of wood.
I remember all of the other stuff posted before.
You know your an old gamer when you see the same language used to describe every generation of games or computer equipment: " "Immersive". "High quality graphics" "blazinlgy fast speed" etc...Thay have used the sam language to cover everything from the Pong until today.

If anything SF, archery does have the +acc bonus. Either Posi or Manticore posted about when the set first came out and if I'm not mistaken seemed to state that it was the highest bonus of all sets.
It gets +acc because its a drawn set and a buff because they wanted archery to have something distinctive since it has no true secondary effect. Wouldn't be surprised if NPCs have these bonuses; Wyvern seemed to hit a lot too.
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah i get turned into a freakin' pin cushion whenever i do a Wyvern mission. -

I used to live in Austin. Great city... to have a job in. You do NOT want to LIVE there. Want to drive 4 miles down the road at 5pm? Better get ready for an hour of bumber to bumber traffic. And if you want to go -godforbid- downtown.. just save yourself the trouble and take the bus.
Austin is the very definition of poor highway planning. Ugh.
Oh, and while you are there, swing by 6th street. Its fun.
PS. While there, do not give money to the "homeless" people you see. They have a very intellegent racket going, and make more money that alot of the players in this game I betcha.)

I know what you mean...i used to work off of Mopac before i moved...sucked ! don't even get me started on the Monster/AV that's I-35...it's easier getting around the Shadow Shard with Superspeed than that thing at 5 pm...
of course 35 sucks here in dallas too, so oh well... -

Yeah many accidents involing beverages have happened on these forums. Most result in the drying of keyboards and the wiping down on screens.

it hasn't happened to me yet, but it's bound to happen eventually. heh !

Yay more shared power sets between controllers and defenders. There was not enough overlap already.
[/ QUOTE ]
My thoughts exactly! Yeah for only one primary to call our own!
[/ QUOTE ]
Better than having no secondary to call your own.
Otherwise...Weee! More magic based enemies. Wonder how they all sit with the CoTs, Tsoo, and BP

weeeee more neg energy resistent baddies for my warshade..haha
seriously though, the new zone looks pretty cool. i LOVED striga.
