Red Tomax, haev my baybeez! Your website is the most helpful CoX site on the web!

You're giving VidiotMaps.com a run for their money as far as Best Fansite is concerned. You'll be getting my vote when the Heroes Choice Awards come around again.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know about that; My site was a long way behind vidiotmaps last year, and I expect the voting to work out pretty much the same again. As nice as it was to be nominated it was disappointing in the end when it turned out to be such a one horse race (not so much for the "favourite" site, more for the most helpful category).

In my book, you laid waste to Vidiotmaps once City of Data was put in. Priceless.

Regardless of votes, you run an awesome site, Red. You are an awesome asset the the community, and I'm proud to have you on my server.

If you ever need anything from us, just let me know.

Funny you say that ... you & the CiT guys will be hearing from me shortly, as it happens

Oh, and incase anyone hasn't noticed I have a Character Planner in the works .. go download it and give me feedback to help make it better -- all the numbery-goodness of City of Data, crammed into a Character Planner. What more could you want?

Well damn. Guess I can scrap that PHP-driven one I was writing.

I'm appreciative of your web resource as well, Mr. Tomax. Not only is it packed with useful information, but you have chosen to use browser-neutral coding in building your site...

Vidiotmaps is useless to me as a practical resource because their scripting is all Internet Explorer-specific and the maps won't work at all... the monitor on my desk on which I display task force data, story arc data, power data while playing the game is attached to a Mac Mini running Safari!

Some days I just wake up cranky. Today might be one of those days...

Another pretty hefty update today:

Added The Cookbook -- Pretty much everything you could possibly need to know when it comes to the City of's Salvage and Crafting system.

Revamped the Powersets & Powers guide to make it faster & more usuable

Does anyone know of a site that already has good quality images of the various base items that I can borrow for the cookbook? Save me trying to find them all in coalition bases ...

[/ QUOTE ]

I posted a few images in the base forum in a few posts of mine quite some time ago. If the links are not dead you're welcome to use them. IF they are dead just PM me and I'll dig them out and mail them to you or post them somewhere for you to grab.

Er, I despise IE, and only run it for select DoD applications that require it. I run Firefox 99% of the time, and often my co-admins have to tell me when some code I wrote is broken on IE, because I forget to check it.

Additionally, so far as I know, there is perhaps half a dozen lines of JSP in the whole site - everything else is HTML/CSS. Can you tell me what doesn't seem to be working for you?

This doesn't take old Chott-planner files in import by chance, does it? *hopeful*

Will be checking it out over the weekend

Afraid not. It's been built from the ground up based on the numbers from City of Data as much as possible:

There are 2407 powers and 13324 effects in the database.

Each power has ~ 30 attributes
Each effect has ~ 35 attributes.

From my vague memory of the old planner files there simply isn't enough data in there to replace the data from the City of Data project.

Then I can only give you 4 stars

If you can get the required data from another source then it is a relatively simple process to build your own custom database (and be able to share it with others). There is a data model builder utility in the program which can parse CSV files to generate the data for the planner .. you give it a set of CSV files that contains all the required fields and it will output the necessary .dat files.

If you (or, anyone else for that matter) is interested in trying to build an alternative database using this feature drop me a PM and I will send you the CSV spec and instructions for using the data model builder.

Old style contacts page restored. Tried something different, didn't particularly like it myself either, back to the drawing board on that one once I've finished the Salvage section I think.

[/ QUOTE ]

Any plans to add the Faultline series of contacts to the Zone Contacts section? I have a couple of toons who will be in Fautline shortly if you need any screenies of the messages you get from Temblar, Delilah, and Agent G.

The Planner is very nice-- much more data included than Sherksilver's, which appeals to the techie i me, and fewer typos which appeals to the one-time English major in me (OK, still a few like chocking under lingering radiation, but rare).

I would suggest that while the enhancement section is removed for rework that some kind of message indicate this-- I was puzzled for a while as to why Ctrl-3 didn't do anything for me and it took me a bit to find the User Guide. Perhaps the guide should be linked from Help?

On the vidiotmaps browser issue, I have used your site to help my wife, who is a dedicated badge hunter. Late January in Firefox the maps didn't show badge locations, only in IE. The badge location icons and the mouseover showing the coordinates didn't work in Firefox.

Testing it just now, it works fine. Either you tweaked something, or something in 2.0.0.2 fixed the problem. <Shrugs> Either way, seems fine now!

I am getting together with friends this Friday (provided I don't sleep through it this time) to go through the Faultline content. It should be added in the following weeks -- I generally try not to put content up on the site until I have experiences it in-game, the first time through anything is always the best.

IIRC, there has been a long standing Firefox bug regarding tooltips. If it has been fixed in 2.0.0.2, this is exceedingly good news. (The bug was first documented in 0.5ish)

As soon as it goes live I'll be running it with Red Tomax & my SG mates I'm sure, we've been looking forward to it for a long time now. So it shouldn't be very long after that until it gets on the site.

Now, RedTomax...the STF has been live for a while now. Why don't I see under the task force list yet?

Just kidding with ya

Edit: I checked out the Invention section and I must say, you did an excellent job putting that together. Another useful resource from your site
