The Last CoV Primer - How's This Gonna Work?
hmmm a question for those that might know.
have we had any confirmation about whether or not the character slots are going to be shared on the server (ie: 8 characters on guardian period) or if they'll be seperate? (8 for CoV, 8 for CoH). I didn't see it on the rest of the primer and the search page hates me.
I know i've seen threads on this in the past but i cant remember if it was ever settled by a red name or an article.
my SG's trying to decide if they're staying on one server or moving to another for CoV, and most of us are AlT Junkies.
There has been no mention in print about character slots as of yet.
figured you'd knock that one out like nothing Clint.
thanx
I have just started paying attention to all the new things coming with CoV - although I pre-ordered CoV - I am a hero at heart and am really curious about any hero "improvements" if any will come with CoV. I know the PvP zones and bases will be available but will things like the improved graphics be implemented into CoH zones? Will heroes ever have the opportunity to battle Lord Recluse and Arachnos? I like the idea of the PvP missions even though it doesn't sound like they will be fully implemented at release. I would really like to have missions where PC villains have the mission of kidnapping someone or robbing something while the PC heroes try to foil the scheme - or heroes guarding an event while villains try to disrupt the event (like steal a hero-guarded nuke or knock out a hero-protected mayor's speech).
The main thing is I hope that I will be able to have just as enjoyable an experience as a hero as playing a villain after CoV. Looking forward to creating the arch nemisis to my heroes but hope that I can get back on my hero and not feel like the hero side of the game is being neglected because of the newer villain side.
One other question - with both CoH and CoV being on one account (for those who will have both CoH and CoV) and therefore being unable be playing a hero at the same time as a villain - will their be any possibility for my created heroes to go against my created villains? I have no clue how that could be made possible but you guys are creative.

Could add a whole new level of difficulty to respec missions. Maybe something like a villian respec team trying to destroy the reactor and the hero respec team trying to protect it. Only one side could win.
As far as the gfx improvements.. they have been sneaking into CoH since I5 and will continue to trickle over.

The part that I have not heard explained yet is what if they are under the same account. As they are two stand-alone programs, I don't see why you couldn't have two people playing two stand-alone products under the same account. Will this be possible when City of Villains is released, or will I have to choose between having content that is unlocked by having the two games on the same account and a (supposedly) cheaper monthly fee, or being able to have one of us play CoV while the other plays CoH?

You will have to choose, as far as I can tell.

The preorder contains a fourteen day trial. Do current CoH owners get fourteen free days?

I just tried one of the trial codes that came with my pre-order box and it will not work to extend the billing date. Looks like they are only usable to to set up new accounts.

~ Villains will get cloaks, right? CLOAKS!

If you mean capes like in CoH, then yes. If you mean Batman-like or Spawn-esque trains of cloth, then no. Traditional cloaks and trenchcoats are still just a glimmer in some Cryptic coder's eye at this point.
