What kind of returns do you get from that?

By the way, this sort of thing is why the system is no longer working, and why I no longer actively encourage it.
I'll revise and add to it as the community requests, but I have little or no faith in people willing to adhere to any sort of structured behaviour on Champion, based on my personal experience in the matter.

Now, I realize this post was from quite some time ago, but the thread is being kept alive.
Until today I had no idea that raid uniforms were even presented, let alone if there was any attempt to implement them. The system had a few flaws (even before graphic suppression):
1. This is the big one; the majority of players don't read the boards. When they do some portion of that doesn't check the server boards. If they don't know about the uniforms then how are the uniforms supposed to work? I've been on about 15 raids. No one mentioned uniforms to me in all those raids, other than no aura/cape. I've been reading the boards for far longer than my registration date (you can read without posting) and never noticed this thread. If someone that even reads the boards doesn't know about it is it then any surprise that very few people knew about it, much less adhered to it?
2. People had to give up a costume slot to do this. When some sg's already have sg uniforms tossing on an additional layer of costume slot sacrifice can annoy people. Especially when they don't like the uniforms they are being told they should wear.
3. Relied on people to put forward effort. Many gamers are quite lazy and don't see the point to going out of their way to spend the time to make a raid uniform.
4. Many were willing to make the concession to have no cape/aura costumes for the raids. Most feel that this is enough.
5. Many players are ego driven and want to stand forward like a peacock. They don't want to be told what to do/how to look. If someone says 'do this' they're inclined to say 'why' when polite, and 'blow me' when less polite.
Curious: Do we still use the raid uniforms? I haven't been to a Hami Raid yet, but have a fourth costume slot...so I don't want to make one just to delete it for a raid uniform...but I won't mind having a uniform...

I haven't seen anyone use this uniform scheme in a while.
The raid uniforms were introduced when raids first started on Champion, because the majority of people that knew how one ran were forum-goers who'd read the strat, and they were, of course, a minority at actual raids. The idea was that if ATs and roles were organized by color, rather than having to give a rundown to new folks every time, one could just point them at the other folks dressed the same, and say "do what they're doing, and listen to request for changes". Also helped identify who was leading the raid, who everyone was following, etc. This worked nicely... for a bit
Eventually, raiding became nightly, and people stopped bothering with the costumes. Then, the next generation of heroes hit 50ish, and wanted to raid, and the confusion started all over again, except this time, there was no real reconciliation: many older raiders wanted the costumes reinstituted, others didn't want to bother, and new raiders were split as well between those that didn't want to lose a costume slot, and those who were happy to help in any way they could to make it easier. The end result was that people were asked to wear costumes again... and maybe 10% did, which just added to the confusion more, since all of the sudden we had SOME people dressed alike, and a lot of people looking at em and saying "What in the..."
Short version: Costumes are a good idea, and should be encouraged. They help new people learn, and help organization in a massive group tremendously. When a new method is found that will almost certainly require people to learn new behaviors, it will probably be invaluable. Convincing people to wear them, when the majority already assume they know the drill and don't need to change their pants to do it, is another matter entirely...

A costume bump... just incase Hami returns from his frightened state. We know Hami is afraid of Marut now.

For all those new to raiding, this is a good thread to follow to help reduce general lag for all those without a $3000 computer. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Ah, the revival of raid uniforms could be fun. Almost as much fun as when we'd have theme outfits, like the time that the theme was "dress like Ultraamann" and everyone showed up gold with the first letter of their name on their chest.
As pointed out in another post on this thread, having the regular raiders wear the outfits makes it easier to tell new raiders who they should emulate, and it reduces lag for those with slower comps.
i think it would be good to revive this practice.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
I'm gonna do this for my first raid!
Although it's gonna look freaky with a purple uniform with a big red cross on it. YUK!
I'll figure something out...lol....
wow this thread is still around?
and i dont think anyone actually uses a raid uniform other than no capes, no aura's

Eh...ok. I have a nice new red, white and blue no cape, no aura costume I can show off.
Ok here's a stupid question: Why no capes or auras rule for raid?
Helps to cut down on lag.. Lag is a real issue on raids.

Why'd this get bumped? Are we going to use this costume deal at the next Raid? I hope not - red is totally fugly.
Welcome back.
Yes, *cough cough*.
