Had the "Stop Archon Minetti and Close Portal" mission this AM. It is timed, 2 hours, and requires you to disable four computers, defeat the Archon and close portal.

Well, no problems until with 35 minutes left, the Maintenance Window opened. Still, everything was good, shut down all four computers, mission window changed to "Defeat Archon and Close Portal". Defeated Archon with 17 minutes left in timer and 12 left until Maintenance. All enemies gone, all goowies activated, all doors opened, no dark spaces on map. Ran the whole map, multiple times, petitioned and bugged twice, praying for help before the down time.

No such luck. Now, here is the question I would like help with: No deaths, no debt. I know they don't credit you for debt. But, this is part of an arc, and I hate not finishing mission, this would be the first time in about 6 months, and it wasn't my fault. The mission would not complete and support didn't get on before the server went down. Now, as a timed mission, there is no way to go back in.

Anyone?

It should not affect the progression of the story arc in any way. You will probably not get as much experience as you would have for a successful completion.

I've already forgotten about most of you

Wow, two bugs in one week. I posted this bug in CoH general, and apparently it is an ongoing, never fixed, Bug. Devs, please look into this and if possible, explain.

I thought all timed missions were identified, to prevent this exact thing from happening:

That cursed contact, Colin Larson (sp?) in IP, snuck a timed mission in on us this morning, about an hour before the servers were scheduled to crash. Curse his eyes!

This was one of those: complete on mission and then visit Colin to drop off results. So, we beat down some Freaks and Crey and see his name pop up in the mission window. Good old Colin, contact from way back, about three blocks from Tram in IP. Stop by his place and BAM! The 2:30:00 counter starts running and mission is in Talos. Aw crud! The servers are scheduled for maintenance in about an hour!

Rush to Talos, enter the building, and the mission plate now says: Rescue AI, Access Firewall, Access Router. We are set for Rugged, so everything is yellow or red, and there are bunches of Crey hanging out. Still, we have more than two hours, cool.

Found the Router, found the Firewall. Red letters on the message center, 30 minutes left to system crash! Alright! Found the AI and as soon as the bar empties the mission window says: Rescue AI. Huh? We just did that. Petition, Bug, Petition! We don't want the friendly AI to be corrupted by Crey.

You have been forcefully disconnected from servers. Servers are shutting down. Son....Moth.....Piece..... Stay calm, we will wait for maintenance to end, hoping it takes less than 2 hours.

Log back on an hour later. Whew, still have 30 minutes left! Of course, the mission is reset, but thanks to Sleep and Confuse, we get all three glowies in record time! Still wants us to free the AI? OK, 15 minutes left in mission timer, so we start a room by room, looking for another Glowie or something.

What the!??! You have been forcefully.... Server crash again! And, of course, none of our petitions were answered in time to help.

Now, Devs, hear our devoted cry: If you want to time a mission, make it clear it is TIMED! We would never had started this mission if we had known. We understand the need for downtime, and do not complain about that, but blindsiding a player with a mission like this....is....wrong.

No warning, no notice, just a 2.5 hour timed mission. And starting it an hour before the maintenance window is not cool, and I would never, NEVER, have done it if I had known. Not only that, but the final objective is totally undefined. Apparently, you have to defeat all the foes, but the window says: Rescue AI. Did that, no completion.

Now, I am very obsessed with completing every mission, timed or not and this marks two I could not complete because of bugs, and apparently bugs that are ongoing.

Devs? Any advice on how to prevent this frustrating experience? Thank you.

Got a bug sk'ing my Warshade 2 nights ago. Entered the mission at 1/2 health for some reason. Finished the mission and was fine exiting, but lost 1/2 my health upon entering the mission.

Has anyone ever heard of this one?
I was on a mission as a sk, ran the whole thing with a bunch of level 35's and got no xp for it. Finished the mission, everyone got the mission xp, but me.
For about a week after that, I couldn't get any xp for anything I fought. I called for a couple of petitions, but never got an answer.
My xp finally started coming back after I sk'd with a level 28 tank.
Any ideas?

Had a problem with Icon last night. Couldn't buy a cape to save my life. It took me a month to get my guy to 20th and after I completed all the missions(extra costume mission and cape mission) it showed as an option in the tailor and i was soo excited. I tailored it and made it cool and paid over 30k and when i exited...No cape.

I sent petitions like wildfire...(which i didn't know it emails you for each petition...so i had like 50 emails when i checked later) and got NO answer. After 2 hours of trying to get a cape I got frustrated and logged off. When i checked my real email, I noticed that they had sent me the answer to my problem (a bandaid fix anyway). I logged back in and tried it and it worked.

So is the NCSupport separate from the game? Why couldn't anyone send me a tell...or an ingame email? I could've saved myself 2 hours and been flying around in my new cape all that time.

I was so frustrated the new cape lost it's luster. (okay, it was still cool as hell..just trying to make a point)

Recently I was on the Positron TF with 2 inviduals exemplaring. At first, one of these ex's had the star and I protested, which brings me to my first statement:
(1) While on the Manticore TF, a level 45 was exemplaring and when the Crey ambush came, the agents were 45s. Of course, being 33ish none of us were able to handle this but we eventually figured out to run to the drones by the Brickstown entrance. So - word to the wise, never let an exemplar hold the star! This code should be fixed to perhaps generate the ambush at the highest -effective- level of the team.

So during the course of the TF, one of the ex's drop out as I am on my way to chat with Positron. When I arrive, he states that he needs to chat to the leader. Even though I have the star, I guess the party got 're-enumerated' and Positron wasn't clued in.

(2) If an exemplar drops out, the Issuing Hero needs to recognize the team leader afterwards.

This problem was worked around by logging out without quitting to pass the star. I did this as I don't trust the effects of Promote.

During the middle of a door, next to last, the other exemplar had to quit and log off. When we exited the mission, it did not say Return To Contact. Reading the description even said that we had failed, even though we all were Mission Completed and exited normally.

(3) An exemplar quitting mid-door has unpredictable effects on the status of mission completion.

This time, the workaround was that the 'host' of the exemplar AND the team leader had to both log out in order to fix the status.

I petitioned and rapped with a GM about these issues. He/she assured me exemplar code was under scrutiny. I guess those fixes are 'coming soon.' Until then, unfortunately, I am wary of accepting exemplars on my team.

Happy gaming!

Note the date for this post...fortunately, they were already working on the problem on January 20th...

Bummer it happened to me on the same TF three days ago...

I was the lvl 36 exemp'd down to 15 (I think)...serious insta-death when the 7 level 36 CoT's came and jumped me twice at Positron's location...sent /petition...no response...in the next 12 hours...or 20 hours or so that I've been online since then...

Is their anywhere in particular we should note possible exploits, or should we just feed them to the community in general?

This weekend I had a problem, bug? who knows. I did the mission for Penny Preston and when I returned back to her with my Mutation Defender, I got the line "ok thi won't hurt...much" (nothing happened)

I sent a petition and received an email from support that they were sorry that they could not catch me online.
I replyed - heh I am still on line, have not left.
Got another email - sorry we did not catch you while you were on line.
Replyed again - Guy's I am still online and waiting!!
Received a thrid email - that said nothing new, and never did get an answer as to why the "secondary mutation" was not unlocked in RedRook!

This is the first time I have contacted Support and received zero help or usful feedback, just canned email responces. What gives??

What is it that makes these Devs think that the I5 went off successfully? Everyone I have talked to has had problems since I5 went live! And to top it off people like me who work at night then come home to relax a bit on CoH and find it every single morning down for some kind of maintence without notice given on the forums here of why it has been brought down is getting a bit out of hand. I know they send a message ingame when it will be brought down by why can't they write a note on the forums about it?

There is a bug with Targetting Drone now. Instead of flying around you, it hovers off to one side and then disappears completely.

I've got two missions for two seperate toons that I've run multiple times now with no "End Mission." I've sent petitions - I get stock email replies, nothing else. Eventually I get a "We couldn't find you in the game" reply, ten or twelve hours after I sent the petition.

Uh, guys, I can't wait around for ten hours for you to come look at the mission.

The last petition I filed last night in my 37 Tank's mission has still received NO reply, NO action, NO nothing, NO kidding. I've been through this mission THREE times, emptied the cave all three times - no end mission. My 33 Blaster has run her mission twice - no end mission.

I'm getting really tired of this. Some kind of reply from the devs would be nice. I understand other people are experiencing the same kind of bugs. What's being done? Hello? Devs? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

Actually, from what's happened to me, all you have to do is wipe the room the AI is in, before/after releasing the AI, for it to actually be "free". When I did this arc the 2nd time, and skated it, I hit the glowies, and it wouldn't let the AI out... so, sighing, I started killing... and as soon as the first room was clear, I got the complete.

And I know, it sucks to fail... but that's one of the recurring mini-arcs for that range, so you might well get it again. (I only got it the twice, but I spent most of that range looking for kill count badges and working on TFs. And my mission badges, of course.)

This is a shout out to GM Patrice. I was stuck in Freakalympics this AM with tons of invisible objects and untargetable (blocked) enemies. GM Patrice replied to my /bug in about two minutes, and saved the day with minutes to spare before servers went down.

The second option you can use to report bugs is /petition. When using this command in-game, it will create a ticket for customer support. Unlike /bug, this command DOES NOT provide us with any information about your character. Keep these things in mind when using /petition.

1.) Tell us about the bug – Make sure you provide us with all your information such as;
a. Account name (not password)
b. What bug you are seeing or experiencing
c. If it’s a mission bug tell us the mission name, the contact that gave you the mission, which zone.
d. If it a power bug tell us which power sets you have, origin and archetype of your character.

2.) Make sure you provide us with your system specs.
3.) Someone WILL reply to your ticket in a timely manner – If you do not need or wish a reply, use /bug.
4.) Give us a step by step account of how to reproduce the bug.

[/ QUOTE ]

Is there a particular reason why /petition doesn't provide some of this information? Certainly, the account name, the current mission, contact, and zone are well known by the client application. On the other hand, if I'm not the mission holder, I don't have any way to knowing the contact involved. The character currently played is also available, though the power in question may not be clear to the software.

I also think the option to include a screenshot directly to a /petition or /bug would be a big help. How many EULA violation descriptions could be shortened to "see screenshot of a costume violating copyright" or "see screenshot of players performing obscene/offensive act" if that option was available? An in-game screenshot also avoids the he-said, she-said problems involved with doctoring a picture to get some innocent player in trouble.

My guess is that the two tools, while basically sharing the same interface, probably where developed independantly of eachother, and at this point would be a major undertaking to swtich petition over. Also, there is probably alot of info useful to the debug team that would just clutter up the GMs' network.

Also, NCSoft's system might not be designed to handle it - don't forget that two seperate systems meet in the /petition tool.

HEY heroes & villains i got a serious problem and it isn't to do with my ports/anti-virus/firewalls et cetera, @ around 1130 EST my laptop crashed the game in mid-load, i.e. loading between zones- after which i got disconnected from the game client ...in general the whole game-later on i attempted to log back in but after confirming the re-enter of my password it told me that 1) i was already logged in and then 2) couldnt connect to game client because either servers were down/network issues/ firewalls etc However it is none of these and for the last past couple of hours i've been unable to connect to the server list to get to protector ... anyone out there with same problem or anyone can help out? thanks
(start a new thread) :P
