  1. The first RPG I played was TMNT, this was before I ever read the comic book. One of the adventures in the book for starting players was a retelling of the first TMNT comics. To the point you started off fighting

one or two at a time and then you end up fighting a whole, whole bunch.

What I find ironic is this are small robotic mouse cacther in a game where you have to option to play as a R.O.U.S. with Kung Fu powers.
  2. With so many boss fights starting with a dialog window these days trip mine has a new way to shine. Tips and new arcs are introducing Bosses and EBs that con blue and then attack at the end of the dialog tree. Dev and Traps can mine the bosses feet in complete safety and since the player controls the moment that boss is going to agro Time bomb can be timed to great effect. 2 trip mines and time bomb will put a serious dent into a bosses health.

2 trip mines and a time bomb may sound like a long time of standing around, but if you drop a trip mine (5s cast) then time bomb (9s cast) and one more trip mine (anther 5s cast) you've 20 seconds setting up a massive AOE attack.

Time Bomb also has massive Knockback. The knockback has a high chance to go off (80%) and with a little practice you can predict where Time Bomb is going to force the boss to land. A player can set a trip mine and this spot, walk over and set Time Bomb, and then set anther Trip Mine on top of the first one. With enough recharge a player could set one more Trip Mine before Time Bomb goes off.

Time Bomb and Trip Mine are also pets it should be pointed out, fenders, blasters and corruptors each get the same Trip Mine and the same Time Bomb.
  3. Even with the ferry merge getting a cape redside is why too much of a pain.

There's a vet reward that grants a shoulder cape, and I own all those booster packs that have awesome capes I can wear at level 1. Unlocking bought capes and auras for vets would be awesome.

The other Vet reward that I think is long past due is the Ghost Slaying Axe as a reward. The Devs already let us have 3 or the 4 vet temp attacks, they should just let us choose the 4th.
  4. Redside he is in Leonard's arc, Leonard is the contact you get right after Dean MacAllister. It deals with clones (dopplegangers) and Protean and the player get wrapped up in owning a secret high tech cloning factory together.

Protean is the worst business partner ever.

I'm not certain we should be making the assumption Giovanna is connected to the Praetorian Vanessa mask. Pranessa (yes I just made that word up for Praetorian Vanessa) may just have the mask as part of her costume since the Devs wanted there to be such a strong visual recognition between both Devores. When you walk into the Resistance base (Underground Nova Praetoria) for the first time you know that trainer is the the Praetorian version of Vanessa Devore. It's the costume that let's the player suspect this npc is Vanessa Devore.

Take Belladonna Vetrano, the only women to have animated hair in this game are Belladonna and Ghost Widow. There exists no ingame lore for why Belladonna has animated hair, but the fact that Ghost Widow does have animated hair makes it almost certain that any CoH vet playing through Going Rogue for the first time is going to take one look at Belladonna Vetrano and identify her as Praetorian Ghost Widow.

I don't know for a fact that Giovanna isn't involved in Praetoria at all, but the fact Pranessa has a mask can, possibly be nothing more then a design decision by Noble Savage or Sexy Jay.

Praetorian Vanessa is in the Resistance because she wants to free her daughter from Mother.

Is there anything in Praetoria that suggests the Giovanna of that dimension is even around?

    Here's the description from Paragonwiki

    Quote:
Vanessa DeVore is the mother of the Resistance. It was her warning of what was to come in Cole's new world order that unified a small group of important military leaders into what would a day become The Resistance. Without DeVore's immense psychic power the Resistance would have been tracked down by Mother Mayhem's Seers and smashed by the PPD.
  7. When I went through this mission I was thinking all these citizens who have gone mad are just standing around looking normal. I think it would be cool if the mobs were using idle animations like the Ghouls. That would really help that world appear crazy.
  8. So you're saying that if I roll a new alt I see should Kings Row totally destroyed from an invasion that won't happen until I level that character up to 50?

Secondly, even if we assume there's a Carnival of Light, how could the Clockwork mistake them for our Carnival? Are there jesters and strong men and circuses and carnivals and basically the travelling sideshow of last century in the new-age, tightly controlled Praetoria? Because I didn't see any, even in the resistance. And no, the Resistance "clowns" don't really count. So whatever this "Carnival" is, it shouldn't look anything like our Carnival of Shadows. So how did these robots make that mistake?
This is what Praetorian Vanessa looks like

If this woman is releasing Seers and forming a "supergroup" to fight Cole and Mother what do you think the SG costume for the Carnival of Light is going to look like?

Vanessa is the most flamboyantly dressed woman in both dimensions, she is going to have the most equally flamboyantly dressed group doing her bidding.

The Clocks are programed to defend Pretoria from its enemies, the Carnival of Light is a terrorist network the Clocks are programmed to fight and eliminate. If the Clocks come to Paragon and see a bunch of Jugglers, Fencers and Strongmen don't get mad at the Clocks if all they see are powerful Pshyics and reanimated male corpses and mistake them for the group of psychics and zombies who are acting as a terrorist group back in Praetroia.

What I wondered after this mission was, in CoH lore do psychic leave physic fingerprints. IF primal Vanessa is in contact frequently with the member of the Carnival of Shadows is there traces of Vanessa's mental energy. In the X-men Professor X could find traces of the Shadow King all the time when ever King had been in contact (and possessed normally) with someone.

So what I wonder does Vanessa (primal) leave any trace (psychic fingerprint) on the Carnival? Have the Clocks learned to detect and identify these possible psychic fingerprints?
If so would both Primal and Praetorian Vanessa Devores have an identical psychic fingerprint?
  10. You have to be a Rogue hunting Hero tips in Paragon or a Vigilante hunting Villain tips in the Isles to get the new tips to drop. This new tips are written to handle the types of choices a Rogue would make when moving towards a Hero Alignment, same with Vigs. If you're already a Villain you're not gonna get tips that deal with moving from Vig to Villain since you're already a villain.

I've only done 5 of the level 40 Rogue to Hero tips so far, but they are very entertaining.

I ran two LGTFs back to back and I had the reward table popup both times, the second time the Hero 1 DNA Sample reward was locked out with big red text telling me that reward wasn't available since I had run that TF in the last 18 hours. I logged out and 18 hours later logged back in and was able to choose the Hero 1 DNA Sample since I waited 18 hours to choose which reward to accept.

  13. You can get both the shards and merits once in the 18 hour period without suffering DR. I'm not sure if choosing shards twice in the 18hr window will give you half the amount of shards or just not allow you to choose that reward. If you run say a LGTF twice, and choose the Hero1 incarnate salvage at the end of the first TF when you complete the second TF, that reward will be locked out.

If you want that incarnate salvage you can log out of that character without choosing a reward, and then log back in 18 hours later. You can then choose the salvage. This logout until the clock reset "trick" works with merit rewards you get from reward tables. Hami, LGtf, etc.

I have been having a lot of fun mining things. 8-10 trip mines and a time bomb. Whee! For extra fun, I also tend to toss smoke grenades.

Every so often, when I go to set up my time bomb, something starts shooting me, whereupon my stealth suppresses to 15 feet and everything else starts attacking. No snipers in site, no drones, just ordinary Longbow or Arachnos.

Are there things I should be aware of that need more than 65' of stealth to stand next to? Does stealth occasionally drop for a millisecond or something? Any suggestions?

I'm soloing, so it's not other people.
I've seen what you're talking about and I've come to believe its the IO that's failing in that situation. There's a gap between that stealth wearing off and when it's getting reapplied. I think server lag can lead to this being something that effects game playl, similar to when a power in recharged in your tray but you can't activate it.

Cloaking Device has 15ft unsuppressible stealth, so even if you fire off an attack mobs that haven't been agro'd will have that 15ft subtracted from their perception distance. So any other mobs in the room that have 60ft perception will have 45ft perception when looking at you.

Smoke Grenade applies a massive debuff to a mob's perception radius. Even level minions are dropped to 8ft, IIRC. If you're doing battle in tight corners, two mobs close together for instance. Smoking the second mob will give you space to battle the first mob without being seen. Hopefully.

    The new tips

Bosses have a higher chance to drop tips then Lts and Minions. Head to Striga and hunt Mob and Council bosses on the docks. You can't run your tip missions in Striga though, you'll have to head back to Paragon.
  16. The two 50s I'm going Incarnate with both had 150 Vanguard merits (V-merits?) so I could buy the Grei Matter. Both times running an ITF gave me the salvage I needed to craft the basic boost.
On my 50 Kat/Invul I went with Cardio but I only have 2 shards left over to put towards the upgrade for the +20% resistance.

On my Sonic/Dark corruptor I went Spiritual and 18 hours from now when I log back in I'll have enough salvage to craft the upgrade for the 33% Healing. I'll probably start working on a Cardio boost for her before I play the Scrapper again. There were many many times on a Cuda tonight I would've swap out Spiritual for Cardio if I had the option.
  17. I think the phrase should be

    I rolled a Smurphy

he's still wearing the glove when he steps into the chamber. I'm not seeing where he was in danger of being contimanated.

Why are people using the word Virus? The doctor never even used the word virus.

    Editted to add.

The Doctor says its been 194 days since Wildfire was declared and 63 since the disease has gone global. Does this help us figure out how long Rick was in the hospital.

  19. This is the last frame of the Doctors gloves, the gloves within the gloves, right before he gets in the decontamination chamber. There's no evidence he received a wound that I can see.
  20. converting 50 merits and 20 million inf into an A-Merit, rolling, and not making that 20 million back?
  21. Smoke Grenade

Let's say the goal is to click all 3 glowies without having to fight that mob. A stalker can't do it with Hide. Hide is going to suppress and that stalker is gonna get seen. A steath IO thrown into Superspeed isn't gonna get at all three glowies. That steath is going to suppress. That Master Illusionist is going want to know what you're doing in her boxes.

Smoke Grenade is going to add the value of a stealth IO to that mobs perception. Smoke Grenade brings an even level minions perception to 8ft. That allows access to all three glowies without the Master Illusionist knowing about it. Even if you don't have any stealth at all.

Now a whole lot of people aren't ever going to be the postion of having to click all three glowies, or tping the team to the last room, or even speed running tip missions to get as many A-merits as they can. If this are activities you do participate in, Smoke Grenade is a very valuable tool.
