  1. Unfortunately I don't know my hardware off the top of my head (at work now), but I like the window-mode idea. I'll try that tonight. Also, thx for the /quit option. I don't forsee using "dual mode" a lot, but it's a little annoying to get booted out when I do. Thx again for the info.
  2. I decided to buy a second account for a few reasons, one of which was to ease the process of getting all my alts into my SG. I tried, for the first time, to log into both accounts by running two instances of the game on the same comp. Everything worked fine until I logged out of one of the accounts (and exited that instance of the game). The remaining instance of the game seemed to "freak out". The game window was full-screen but the actual size of the game screen shrunk down to about 800x600 (just a guess but definitely smaller than usual) and my mouse would move but I couldn't "click" anything. I am running Windows XP with latest patches/updates and had no other programs running (other than memory resident stuff). Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?
Also, as a side question, is there a way to logout without using mouse? If this can't be fixed, I'd at least like to have a way to "gracefully" exit the game when it does happen.
  3. That's cool, but what if the Quartz is already dropped when you find the spawn? I don't know how that is supposed to work, but I can say how it did work for me - target quartz, destroy, target Guardian, quartz dropped, wake-up in hospital.
  4. Thanks for all the input. It's the Guardians (lt) that drop the thing. Even if I target the quartz and jump in and destroy, I still tend to faceplant at times b4 (or even after) I destroy it. Also, the Guardian just tends to drop another, in which case I ALWAYS faceplant. I do better using wedding band and orange (as has been mentioned, purples are just useless), but still tough with x8 diff options, so gonna just scale back to x4 for DE. It's a little bit lame, but I'd rather not spend time at hospital. Thanks again for all the info.
  5. I'm not sure I'm the person to chime in here because I'm only at lvl 37, but I am playing Kat/SR. I am building towards box/tough/weave since it is cheap to cap, but the build I'm hoping for (if I can get the IOs) includes heal. My problem is that I have to carry a ton of greens not only for emergency heals, but also for low health heals. After many battles I'm low on health - I like many others like to try to max out diff settings. So I either use a green, rest, wait for rest to recharge if it's close, or just stand around regen until close to full health. So I would like to have a heal for these situations and when I need a heal against a small number of opponents. I imagine I'll still need to carry some greens for "emergency" heals against many opponents, which is OK with me. Tough, to me, just seems like extra regen, which doesn't seem worth two skills picks - I don't need box for mule IO. That might not be very helpful, but just a thought from a fellow Kat/SR.
  6. Thanks for the info, I got the acc buff info from paragonwiki. The +tohit makes a boatload more sense - I should have wondered about that. I will use your suggestion to find out how much +tohit, but my guess is, I'm stuck lowering my diff settings, or getting some large purples. Thanks again.
  7. Anyone have any numbers on this? I am science origin and have got away from my science story arcs almost since the beginning. I'm now lvl 36 and doing the Terra Conspiracy and man, when the Guardians plop down a quartz, I'm usually toast. I'm a Kat/SR scrapper and can cap my defenses by popping a purple, but that doesn't seem to make much difference. Do these things boost acc by like 1000%?
I have tried targeting the quartz first, but this only seems somewhat effective. I've tried drawing targets away, again, somewhat effective. The most effective way to deal with these guys (for me) has been to drop my diff settings to -1 x4 or -1 x3, so there are fewer guys getting acc boost. That stinks, but I guess I can live with it to complete the arc. Anyone have any other suggestions?
  8. OK, not sure my question was clear. It's OK, don't worry about it. I know the numbers, so it really boils down to the damage proc and damage boost. Anyhow, I kinda thought ToD was better dmg wise and I guess I'll go with that, just thought I might query those "in the know".
  9. I need a full set of ToD and Mako and trying to figure out which is better for damage. Assuming I take lvl 40 of each (really looking at 38, but close enough), which one would you place in a "filler" attack and which one would you put in your "damage" attack? - I'm Katana so difference in End Red is irrelevant and accuracy, well, let's not worry about that diff (yes, the real question is which would you put in GC and which in SD)
  10. I have my first char to level 32 and I think I need to figure out which route I'm gonna take. I have a simple build planned that uses box/tough/weave and some basic IO slotting to acheive soft cap and I can still squeeze in heal (or hasten). However, it feels a little annoying taking boxing which I have no use for whatsoever. So I came up with a build that uses IOs to cap defense and I can take heal/hasten and even an epic pool like body mastery. So this seems a lot cooler. The prob is the cash, excuse me, influence. I'd need two Oblit sets (among other things) and from what I'm seeing that's hundreds of millions alone. I have about 30 mil right now. My question is, what do others that take Kat/SR do for builds? I'm not necessarily asking to post ur build just asking if you go the defense route (i.e. weave or manuevers) and sacrifice power picks or do you try to get enough inf to IO your way to softcap?
  11. I was in Terra Volta, but I think my misunderstanding was that it was a server-wide broadcast not zone-wide. So the question now is, how do you do a server-wide broadcast/message?
  12. How do you use broadcast? I seem to be doing something wrong because I select broadcast channel and there's no chatting. I say things and get no response. Am I doing something wrong?
  13. As stated I'm a new player (been playing about 2 months now) who only gets limited game time - usually one weeknight and one weekend night. I have a level 28 Kat/SR scrapper and was thinking of trying Terra Volta tonight. I've done almost all "solo" missions to this point (have done 3 missions on teams but they were all solo missions - no task force) so I don't know if it is "reasonable" to try to get this done in a few hrs or if I am better off waiting until the weekend, when I'll have 8+ hrs of playtime. Also, is it better to look for TV team or lead one myself (as a noob, soloer?). Any thoughts?
  14. Found the ones by the bog. I know I looked there b4. I must have been caught between spawns. Oh well. Thx for the help.
  15. I've been doing Lars Hansen mission chain on Striga and just got to the 'Disrupt Council Defenses' (defeat 3 turrets) mission. I can't seem to find the turrets. I found some in Wolf's Throat, but they don't seem to count towards the mission. The text of the mission talks of perimeter defenses so I tried searching the perimeter of the council base but this gets tricky as there are a lot of bosses on the perimeter and all I find are 'dudes' not turrets. Help?
  16. Crap, I'm an idiot, that was it. Thx.
  17. I thought the warhead badge would allow me to craft lvl 25 and lvl 30 Damage and Kockback IOs w/o recipe. I just earned the bade, have a few masterwork weapons and iron, but when I go to the University workbench it's not giving me the option to create a lvl 30 Damage IO. I can only buy the recipe. Is this a bug? Have I done something wrong?

    Recipe Return

I haven't done any true testing so perhaps I'm not the best to comment on this, but it seems like the recipe drops are back to normal. I did back-to-back missions last night and my recipes went from 1 to full - it seems like it's been awhile since that happened. Anyone else notice the difference or am I experiencing one of those anomalies.

    Here we go again

Sent a petition and got a reply. I was teleported to the large "warehouse" room (that I spent most of my time searching, btw) and a guy was just standing there on the floor a few feet away (impossible he was there b4, u couldn't miss him if u tried). Anyhow, I killed him and mission is done. Thx GM_Sven.

    Here we go again

OK, again I'm having trouble with yet another "needle in a haystack" mission. I just auto-completed the previous mission (because of the same prob) for Stephanie Peebles to kill everybody on the fish boat. I cleared the entire map, running through it twice after clearing and couldn't find "someone" I was missing. Couldn't take it anymore, bailed and dropped. Now doing the mission that I believe rewards with wedding ring, Heracles. Again, have defeated everyone (including Heracles), map is cleared. I've run thru twice, looking up, down, all around, and nobody. I can't drop and would really like the reward. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  21. I decided when I started playing that I would forgo the mission architect and just play through the "regular" missions. This has left me a little lost, though, on the AE Farms "nerf" that was implemented in issue 16. The only thing I know about AE came from the tutorial mission (and I admittedly blew thru that one). After reading the release notes I'm guessing people were creating custom mobs with standard primary/secondary powers that they could blast thru and still get good XP. Is that all it was? - seems like there had to be more to it, or, as usual, I'm missing something.

    Confused Again

I thought I understood status effects until I started looking into slow effects and now I'm confused again. Slow effects have no protection just resistance so how does that work with a PBAoE toggle? For example, I'm a scrapper fighting something (sorry not knowledgable enough to know what crit might have this) that has arctic air active. The whole time I'm fighting this crit I'm in the area of effect, because I'm melee, so how am I effected if I have some slow resistance (say 50% or so). Does the resistance help at all? If I understand correctly, it seems like slow resistance would only help with something that has a duration, like chilblain, is that correct?

    /SD Weakness?

I am still relatively new so I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I've been playing with the various scrapper secondaries in Mid's and all seem to have their weakness except shield defense. Am I missing something? I mean, I'm guessing it's something that I'm missing "on paper", because it has very good defense combined with good resistance, all status prot covered, and a boost to offense. All this with reasonable endurance toggles. I did a quick and dirty build of /SD and got capped melee and ranged def w/40% AOE def; 30% s/l res w/20%(approx) res everything else, 10 or more status prot in all but taunt, placate, and teleport; 65% res def debuff; and 220% Regen/155% Recov. All this with a built-in (Against All Odds) boost to primaries. I really hope I'm missing something. *scratches head and wonders why first char was /SR*
*scratches head and wonders why I didn't download Mid's sooner*

    Joke

Well, now, here I go and get caught up doing exactly what I said I wouldn't (debating). I, personally, don't see exploring=thinking, sorry. If, for example, I were having difficulty beating an EB and had to come up with different strategies to be victorious (something that has already happened multiple times), that, to me, is putting on the ol' thinking cap. Also a mission that has some kind of puzzle (many MMOs have some sort of lever pulling thing for this), sure, a challenge that requires some thought. However, getting a mission that says "find an underground location" and you have to search for such a location is, in my mind, a lazy way to create a "challenge" in the game - to me, it's like calling it a challenge to go from one end of the map to another. I was pretty ticked off when I originally posted (had just been sent to the hospital while searching), so that's my bad, but I stick by my main point that "explorer" missions are crap. It's just my opinion, but I'm clearly not alone.
