New Player, Terra Volta Advice

As stated I'm a new player (been playing about 2 months now) who only gets limited game time - usually one weeknight and one weekend night. I have a level 28 Kat/SR scrapper and was thinking of trying Terra Volta tonight. I've done almost all "solo" missions to this point (have done 3 missions on teams but they were all solo missions - no task force) so I don't know if it is "reasonable" to try to get this done in a few hrs or if I am better off waiting until the weekend, when I'll have 8+ hrs of playtime. Also, is it better to look for TV team or lead one myself (as a noob, soloer?). Any thoughts?

The trial won't take more than an hour and 1/2 at most. It's pretty straight-forward so you shouldn't have any problems leading it yourself. I always enjoyed running it with a smaller team but I don't think you'll have any problems anyway you run it.

Gives a good run through of what to expect.

I'd strongly reccomend getting a team together through Triumph Watch, and assuming you get a person who has run the trial a few times, listening to them about what to watch for.

I copncur with Azrhaiz, the trial is a great time 4-5, get on a team of 8 and occasionally it can get a little overwhemling for a new player.

And since you're still relatively new, if you haven't already joined Triumph Watch and you're trying to find it in the global channel list, you'll find two channels:

Triumph Watch 2.0 - moderated
Triumph Watch 2.1 - not moderated

(Edit: Az makes a good point.)

2.1 isn't really moderated and as it's MOTD states: not for the easily offended.

Start buying skirt suits because we will have to start calling you Karla Rove Woman as soon as the water's effects takes hold.

I thought that was already Karl's "alternate" costume slot.

I was on last night and tried to run TV w/ a PuG. What a disaster. First off I wasn't leading the team, someone who has never run it before was, so you can imagine it was a complete cluster ****. Took 45 mins to get thru the mission in Skyway then people started leaving. Frigging nuts.

FYI to new players wanting to do TV, here are some things you should require before starting:

1 - At least one person who has run the TV before should be on the team (not absolutely necessary, but certainly makes it easier)
2 - MUST have a healer - to much damage given out over the course of the missions not to have one
3 - You can do the missions much faster if you have a stealth TP'er
4 - If you are doing the pull method instead of charging in.... YOU MUST HEAL THE PULLER AFTER THE ALPHA STRIKE

I died about 15 times because the 3 scrappers refused to charge in and wanted me to pull. Fine no problem, but the Porters don't give a **** about lien of sight and killed me WAYYY too many times. Please heal the person taking the alpha strike.

Anyway, thanks for hearing me vent. Cheers folks

Aww, sorry to hear you had such a bad time. I have an emp I can bring along next time you decide to try to run it. You've made me curious about it now, i'mma try to solo it on my blaster.

basically, if you see a miki on Triumph, it's probably cute and it's probably me.

Huge thanks to cuppamanga and all the folks in the mac help forum for prolonging my borrowed time on this game.

Using a pull is generally used to avoid an alpha strike since its good for a group that might be too big and overwhelm your team. I like to pick a guy off to the side, especially those Raider Engineers. Lts and bosses often bring other folks with 'em so try to avoid them.

If you want to do this again, I'd be more than happy to jump on my thermal and help.

I should be coming back round to my level 40 Tank in the next couple of days. He hasn't run any of the respecs yet. Maybe I could provide some aggro monkey action if I'm on when you get ready to run this.

Ya I was pulling just fine, and I usually don't have a problem w/ the Alpha, the problem is the Scrappers didnt hit the guys as they came, they waited for some reason, and of course the Sky Raiders all teleport so LoS doesnt help.
Ya I will definately run it again, probably either tonite or tomorrow nite. Hit Archilese up whenever Im on. I always team, solo is not as much fun on this guy. Not until he gets RoA. lol Cant wait, 2.95 lvls to go.

And here I've been running it all these times with nobody healing me..........

As long as people don't just quit, it is very difficult to screw up. It's one basic, every day mission and then sitting in the reactor waiting for spawn after spawn to show up.

If you can do a PUG radio mission, you can do a respec TF.
