I don’t think mobs would run. In ambush farms the mob actually hones in on you and will even stay by someone even after they died. And i think Blazing Aura might still taunt, not 100% sure though.
And without useing a lot of purple insp Spine/fire is much more squishy than a /fire brute due to the lower res cap. And you do have a long *** animation from Spine burst.
But honestly its too close to call i think, it would need to be actually tested out imo. -
Trying to get a video to upload and i cant seem to get Wegame to work. Do i have to be running from WeGame where it has all your games and stuff, because i cant get that to work.
Anyway, i got a video using camstudio (**** them) but it has REALLY REALLY REALLY crappy quality and for some god awful reason the colors got ****** up. I guess i suck at this kind of stuff >.< -
Im not sure if it will work all the well. Since they are +4s it will be extremely hard if not impossible to get it perma. And if you can't get it perma its prolly better to just kill all but one or two of the swords and champs (champs i think might stop eventually [i think] though) so they dont cause much of a threat anyway.

Quote:Ok, cool. Ill try to use the WeGame thing.I knew BBJ would back down, but I got to say I didn't expect him to keep running his mouth after publically admitting he can't do it. Heh.
I use FRAPS (paid version; free stops after 30s), it works well. Another option, if it works for you, is to use the WeGame client. It records, encodes and uploads to WeGame.com. -
If you are having trouble with blue patches it’s almost certainly you, not your powerset. The warning times they have are insanely long. On toons that i have ran the Apex on i can generally get off a few more attacks after i see the blue start to form and still get away.
And as SpittingTrashcan said it’s rather easy to essentially control the patches and decide where they drop. I have tried doing this a few times, and been rather successful, I would be beating on BM and then jump away and have a patch form where I wanted it to. Of course, of team mates weren’t always doing this so BM was still standing in a patch *sigh*
In short, Apex doesn’t **** up any AT or powerset to the point where it is simply unplayable. Sure, it’s better to have powerset A than to have powerset B, but powerset B still works fine. Isn’t the rest of the game like that already? I think it’s just that Apex is very different than anything else we have seen in the game and players are still getting used to it. -
Quote:That about sums up how i feel about itIt isn't poorly designed. What's poorly designed are the other 100+ AV fights that have taught us that a singular "strategy" should work in EVERY SINGLE ENCOUNTER. I think the problem is the overly harsh penalties of Stone Armor, not the encounter. And I doubt you'll convince many people in the know to feel sorry for Traps.

I tried to do with yesterday. I downloaded CamStudio (not a good program?) and ran a mish while recording, but my screen started flashing bright green so i was unable to get anything. So if anyone could help me out i would be glad to post a video.

The ingame numbers should actually tell you DPS, mids is also a great way to find out. But DPS is damage/recharge+activation time, thats just for a specific power though. To figure out your ACTUAL DPS is a bit more complex (teh uber maths the likes of only Bill Z would figure out) or takes a bit of time. Ingame you can fight a pylon in RWZ timing how long it takes for you to kill it. Then just do hp/seconds it took for you to kill it, that should be your dps (i think, i REALLY suck at math) If you cant kill it you prolly cant kill most AVs.
Edit: i THINK pylons have a 50% res all but psi. so DPS against something with 0% Smash res would be (hp/seconds it took for you to kill it)x2
If that is all compeletly wrong, im sorry im kind of sleepy >.< -
Quote:Im not 100% sure but it may not have a suppression period anymore (or maybe it just different than it was). But the rest of what you said is true, Footstomp is just that good. And you forget or don't correctly understand how the FFB proc works. It has a suppression period, it's not going to give you +100% recharge all the time.
Besides, the FFB proc would go off far more reliably in Footstomp. Has a bigger AoE so you can hit more targets, faster animating and is generally a better AoE power.
Anyway, does anyone know if the proc fires before or after an attack animation? Im curious and cant test it out right now *sigh.* -
It’s a matter of play style. If you like brutes make a brute. If you like scrappers make a scrapper. For the most part the difference in dmg (if you are good at bruteing at least) will be minor or almost unnoticeable.
Of course there are those few exceptions like a kin/SD where the scrapper is going to totally and completely out dmg the brute...a lot. -
An ambush farm is a form of farm in AE. Generally right at the start of the mission there is a boss or 2 and by damaging them you will get ambushed. If you can survive it it's generally the most effective way to farm, if you do the right rolls.
It is this form of mission that i mostly run on my SS/fire/mu. On +4/x8 Bosses, thanks you some sweet macro's for making reds, i average about 1400 tickets every mish and finish as i get 1st rage crash. -
Quote:If i remember correctly double xp generally doesnt affect AE.The biggest thing that i would like to see put in the game would be some kinda bank system where u could put your influence/infamy/information in but leave the inf cap alone....and another small thing would be to take AE outta the game completely....i know that will never happen but it has broken the game, when double xp weekend rolls around, go look in a AE building....you will see a level 1 in the morning and by later in the day he/she is a level 50. I don't know about y'all but teaming with a newbie 50 that thinks he/she is "cool" because they have a level 50 but that gets on my nerves...another option would be that u havta get a toon to 50 and then the AE will be allowed to u, kinda like a reward for getting to level 50 kinda like the PB's and WS's were but since they dropped that to level 20 or 25 now...its a total joke....don't get me wrong, i love the game, I've been playing since 2007 and i think the stuff that the devs have added are really nice additions to the game but maybe its just me, i might be the only person that hates AE but i seriously doubt it
However, i really think "unlocking" AE after you get a 50 is an interesting idea. But that would punish anyone that doesnt missuse AE, like the new player that has some cool stories they want to tell. -
Quote:I believe it is because AVs simply generate more fury so you wont have lower fury considering more AV fights are v1 for long periods of time, so yes you could say they have a special flag. But they also have more attacks than your average critter, which can mean they might attack you more often. Why do AV's cause more fury? Is it that the harder the attack you take, the more fury it generates? Or is it just a special flag for AV's only? What if the AV spawns as an EB?
And for the record tanking the entire Freedom Phalanx, sans numi, (thank the devs for insp) didnt seem get my fury all that high actually. -
Quote:I have to agree with that. As long as you are doing an AE fire farm, and as far as farming goes thats what you should be doing anyway. If you're farming, I second having zero defense (pop some purples if need be) 90% fire resists and Healing Flames on a 10 second timer.
Other then that shoot for s/l def. -
Im pretty sure the new fury made it harder to maintain higher levels of fury.

dmg cap is 775% counting the base of 100% (so the dmg cap is 675% in the ingame combat numbers)
-
Kin melee, i actually dont like it that much but its juts looks SOOOOOO cool
Willpower, good old reliable willpower.
Robot MMs, pew pew boom crash whoosh BOOM!
SD, a good mix of offense and defense
Cold Domination, epic debuffs
traps, time bomb ftw :P -
Quote:If i am correct it 1st does front loaded dmg like any other PBAoE pseudo pet, then after that it will start doing ticks of dmg for 10 seconds, and yes it will check for targets on every tick (just like the old burn, but a lot fewer ticks as well as less dmg per tick) and it should do this within an 8 ft radius of where you 1st used burn.Ok so burn checks for targets on every tick but does that depend on a certain radius? I'm just wondering since I've been using it on my brute and my fire/ice tank and combined with fireball even the mediocre mob will die pretty quick before the 2nd application.
Sadly I haven't got bored yet of the lady winter mission. -
Quote:Well, im sorry to say it dude but this is one of the worst builds I've seen. Your slotting does make a lot of sense. You have a lot of powers that are over slotted (taunt, cloak of fear) but a lot of your better powers are under slotted (LR, STAMINA [WTF!]). But one of the things i say is that you had very little slotting for dmg is a lot of your powers. And i think that is causing a lot of your end problems. The thing is, +dmg will help your end because you then need to use less powers to kill something. This is my current build as is sorry im still a little new to the forums
and im level 50 i leveled with others and never really payed mind to these gaps being so bad until we hit 50.
But here, messed with your build for a few minutes and came up with this (i hope its not too expensive for you). It isn't great and the slotting in some of the powers (Thunder strike) could be better but your s/l soft capped, which should help your squish factor A LOT and you should have much better end (as long as you don't run tactics which is only there as a set mule anyway). And if you have GR i would try to get the cardiac alpha if you haven't done so yet.

Well, messed with your build a bit and came up with this rather cheap (i hope) fire farmer build. 80% +rech.

If its for only fire ambush farms you have way too much s/l def and far too little +rech. Oblits shouldnt go in either blazing aura or FS (not matter what) because of its low end redux, FE is underslotted, fences should get slotted for dmg, ball is under slotted. And you wouldnt want fighting. These are just a few of the things.
-
Quote:*sigh* i had a long rather well constructed response about how SS/fire/mu > elec/fire(even with mu). But since you likely wouldn't understand it anyway, maybe you just dont know math or something, and make up some ******** response I'm just going to stop now.Yes and you just made my point SS/fire is not a great awesome farmer because you have to support it with the same stuff any other toon could grab. So ya the whole reason you grab SS is for FS+Rage.. which turns out to be a lousy combo in a farm. Many people who praise the SS/Fire also don't bother using Rage in the farm to avoid the crash.
What makes a good farmer? Lots of AOE that does good dmg and there are other sets that give you more AOE options than what SS can offer you.
Build up an elec/fire then come talk to me about who knows what. -
Quote:Ok, I for one DO NOT recommend farming on JUST SS/fire, SS/fire would SUCK ***. It’s also the /Mu (or /pyre if you want) that is also very very important. My SS/fire/mu ALWAYS has an AoE up...so yeah 0 waiting for anything AT ALL. So you obviously have no idea what you’re talking about. Havent we been over this before? Did i mention i always have an AoE up?SS/Fire is pretty boring stuff as you just wait for your one button(FS) to come up every 5 seconds. You can't use Rage either because the end drain slows you down to much. Elec/Fire is busy all the way killing non stop and LR has a bigger radius than FS. SS/Fire people have never tried anything but that build. I have both and SS/Fire is far more boring and I don't like managing the end if I don't have to. So what fun is it if you don't even use Rage?? You just have to rely on Red Insps of course.. and that means any AT is just as good if not better.
