Hi everyone. So, I finally got an idea for an invuln tank (my first one). Staying true to my theme of all animal characters, and because it's possible now with the new animal pack, I made a minotaur named Bison (a character I played in a pen and paper rpg a couple years ago.) I can get some really good res and def numbers with him on mids, but my problem is this. I want to give him the best damage output I can within the limits of these two sets, BA and SS, but I haven't played BA before. How does it stack up as far as damage in comparison to SS? Also, because rage is pretty much the cornerstone of SS, is that -20% def when it crashes going to be a problem that I'll have to pay attention to or is it not gonna be a big deal?

This is probably an old and tired topic, but I really appreciate any advice you guys can give me -
I would mostly like more weapons. How hard can it be to draw new swords? Esepecially the axes, there's only like 5 of them to chose from in the begining. I can't imagine that it takes that much effort, and there's SOOO many swords that they could have.

I don't mind the simplicity of the Ba/Mace/Bs sets, they are all brute strength, wide arcing weapons. I don't think they look bad, either. However, I would like to know one thing. How hard could it be to make alt animations where you swing with two hands? They did it seamlessly enough for the Ghost slaying axe power, and as was mentioned earlier in the forum, they did alt animations for katana. I don't know that it's the most important thing in the world, but whats wrong with hoping? It seems like a natural enough thing for the devs to accomplish at some point.

Hi all,
Being a scrapper fanatic, I was thinking its about time for me to enter the world of Shield Defense and I was looking for some help. I wanted to make a classic kind of knight warrior or a physical brawler, so I thought I'd look at MA and BS. I was hoping for an all around fighter that could softcap def and hit like a truck, but I also love utility and versatility in my toons. So, my question is, MA or BS? I built this MA/SD on mids and it looks really impressive on paper, but I got lazy and didn't want to compare it with all the rest of the scrapper sets that worked with Shield. Can you all give me some feedback and maybe some other builds to compare this one too? Any build is welcome really, as long as you've got something to show off

I was able to make a pretty good bear just a little while ago with the beast heads and fur upper body/hands. They'll get there, I'll bet rats, snakes, and bears will come soon.... I hope :/

I'm so excited about this I have no words. I've been making all of my main 50s and other toons animals since I got on coh and although I have some pretty good designs, this is the best payoff ever! I finally get the faces I want for my Lion!

Hi everyone!
I’ve been playing CoH for about 2 years now, and although I don’t considered myself a seasoned veteran, I have come to a point in my character creation that I’m sure every long-time player comes to. It seems that every time I make a new toon, I get the costume ALMOST right and then think, “man, if only they had…” I’m sure I’m not alone in my desire for that 1 costume part that would make the whole picture come together into the masterpiece I imagined, so I wanted to start a thread solely dedicated to ideas for new costume parts.
Hoodie shirts? More tattoos? Jewelry? Hook swords? I want to hear every one of the thousands of ideas that are out there. However, with all those ideas things could get a little out of control, so I thought we could establish a little system for suggesting things, much like in Lady-JadeÂ’s thread for ideas for new power sets. HereÂ’s what I was thinking:
Name of the costume part: what you think it should be called
Region and category of the part: what part of the body and under what sub-section the power could be found (i.e. Upper body: Baggy: Hoodie shirt)
Description: if the part requires some description, a quick synopsis of what it looks like.
If you have come across an picture example of what you mean and you want to post it as a photo or link, that would also be fine.

I was thinking the other day about power sets and how many characters I would like to make don't have the appropriate power sets available. Maybe because I'm a sucker for scrappers, mostly I'd like to see new scrapper powers, but I was wondering what other people's ideas were. I had 2 ideas:
1.) A long staff set. Weapon options could be Bo staff, Naginata, Halberd etc. Could be geared towards pbaoe damage, or could just give scrappers an option for an interesting, mid-range damage array. Maybe it could also give you resistance bonuses...
2.) A capoeira set. This one probably will never show up because they already have a martial arts set, but I think it could offer some incredible animations that would fit, stylistically, very well with their new "flashy powers" theme (i.e. Kin-naruto-melee and gun fu.) Could also give defense bonuses because of the style of movement...

I guess I don't mean that the power is lame, I just mean that it's really frustrating to miss now because doing so negates almost all the damage the power would do. I've got it recharging every 8 seconds, so it's not a terrible downside ultimately, I just found it to be irritating.

So, I read all about the modifications that Burn went through with the launch of i17, an for all intents and purposes it should be greatly improved, but I feel that it hasn't performed that way. Perhaps I'm expecting too much from the power?
First: On Mids, pre-i17 it showed that burn, fully slotted with it's purple set plus the boosts it got from build up and fiery embrace (my set is Katana/Fire), was doing about 900 damage. Post i17, with those same previsions, it is showing burn doing about 570 damage. What's up with that.
Second: It was changed so that the majority of the damage was initial hit damage, but I feel like the power doesn't always hit initially, and with the the DoT a fraction of what it used to be, in that case, missing makes it a pretty lame attack and a waste of end.
Has anyone had a similar experience? -
Lol. Well now that I feel like a newb to the forums (which I guess I am), thanks for the builds. I messed around with it a little and kinda riffed off of your build Twilight Snow. Found a way to keep my damage up and be soft-capped on the first da strike. I'll see if I can get a moderator to switch this over to the scrapper forum, maybe get some more advice. Ty everyone.

Hi all. So, I've been working on this toon for a while and she's super fun and really good for where she's at. I've only gotten her to lvl 35 so far, but I'm going for aoe damage and mob killing primarily. Atm she still needs some end usage help and better defenses/res but both of those things will be taken care of to some extent when she gets to 50 with IO slotting. I'm not too worried about cost, I know this will be an expensive build, but I'm willing to take my time getting the cash. Anyway, I was fiddling around with the build and I just had a few questions:
1. Will about 20% def (give or take a few %) to all but psi and smash (11%), 45% res to sm/l, 70% fire, 12% cold, 35% e/ne, 15% toxic, and no psi be enough to get by on if i'm doing about 2000 damage in 10 seconds? Keep in mind that I'll probably be spamming DA while I aggro mobs to bring them close to throw caltrops.
2. Should I find a way to take weave as well? I don't know how well I'd be able to support the end, and I don't really want to get rid of any powers as of yet, so 5% def to all doesn't seem worth it.
3. Cold doesn't seem like a big deal in the enemy damage department, but will only having that low cold resistance be a problem? Should I skip on something else to take temp protection?
4. Is tough worth it? could I make do with 35% res to sm/l and save the end and the power slots and grab a couple extra fun powers? maybe Shuriken with a decimation proc and something else?

I agree that IO's might be a better fix just because of the end drain, you're getting pretty heavy in that department. Otherwise it's pretty nice. I know you're working on the armor, but just in case your interested, I build a katana/fire scrap for damage and aoe mob killing which might interest you.

Well, did some work on the build (realizing that indeed it was a little silly) and balanced it out more. Actually made it a lot better overall and added some good damage, regen, and s/l def in comparison with the last build. Thanks for... well... making me take a second look XD

Hi all. I just wanted to run a wp/ss build by you guys and see what you think. It's gonna be a little pricey, but who cares. I'm making it for all around play, hardcore mob survival, and farming. I didn't do a lot in the damage department because having played the toon a lot, Rage makes up for any damage or accuracy lost in not slotting my attack powers. I focused the defense on stuff I wouldn't have a lot of resistance to, since wp isn't the best for resistance to anything but smashing and lethal, so I think I make up for most of those weaknesses. Let me know what you all think.
