  4. Issue 19 is just around the corner and our friends at Massively are committed to bringing you the latest and greatest information in the form of two great articles! First off, Editor Eliot Lefebvre got a sneak peek at Issue 19’s “Apex Task Force” by playing through it with the CoH Dev Team! Check out what he had to say about it. Then, Eliot sat down and conducted an Issue 19 Q&A with War Witch, Positron, Dr. Aeon and Black Scorpion. Go here to see what the Team discussed. Happy reading!

  6. At our recent NorCal Meet and Greet, Dr. Aeon bravely sat down with the community and attempted the most difficult of tasks: writing a mission for Architect based on ideas tossed out from the crowd! With beverages in hand and a boisterous gaggle of players at the ready , suggestions started flying freely. With Positron in attendance to keep things from getting too unruly, input from the crowd was expertly crafted into a mission for the ages. After an hour of barely controlled chaos, Dr. Aeon emerged from the meeting room triumphantly (albeit a little worn down), and pronounced the collaboration complete!

Now it’s your turn to experience the results of this unprecedented collaboration between Developers and Players in the very first ever Community Architect Entertainment Mission created in real-time! Featuring none other than Dr. Aeon himself as the contact, explore the horrors of a Power Armor Fashion Show gone tragically wrong. Will the Luddites be able to disrupt the show? Will Black Scorpion be shown up in front of Silver Mantis? Is the mysterious Jebbidiah Dogge in any way related to our beloved Jesse “Ghost Falcon” Caceres (or “J-Dog” as Positron likes to call him)?

Find out by playing the newly available Arc #468404 “The Power Armor Fashion Showdown” now!

  7. So wish I could have been there, unfortunately real life is a harsh mistress. Victory was where I started way back in June of '04, so know you are always in my heart though!
  8. Don’t forget – with the release of Issue 19, not only will one free Respec token be granted to all characters but another one will be granted exactly one week later. Since these don’t stack, if you currently have a Respec and wish to use it, you might want to consider doing so soon so that you can free yourself up for those coming with Issue 19 and beyond!

    Thanks!

  15. Hey folks,

We are releasing the City of Heroes®: Origins Pack on the North American Training Room for testing, so please help us test out this great new pack now by transferring a character over to The Training Room.

    Thanks!
  16. Hey folks,

Some of you are already aware of this issue but we wanted to give you all a heads up so you can enjoy the 2010 Halloween event to its fullest! While sidekicked, the Halloween Temporary Costume Powers are not awarding correctly and this means that if your character will not receive Halloween Temporary Costume Powers from Trick or Treating if they are part of a team and are sidekicked. They will however be awarded Badge credit for the drops they would have otherwise received.

This issue with costume drops only seems to affect characters who are sidekicked, and should have no effect on characters who are trick or treating solo or while not sidekicked. If you are specifically looking for the Temp Power drop, we recommend at this time that you Trick or Treat in a level appropriate zone either solo or with a group of players at a similar level. Remember you can always pass leadership around if you have a slight level variation in your group!

    Thank you for your patience,
  17. It’s that time of year again with fall foliage changing colors, harvest festivals, and of course carved pumpkins appearing on doorsteps. To celebrate the arrival of the brand new City of Heroes® Origins Pack, 2010 we’re throwing a Halloween costume ball in Pocket D on October 29, and as an added bonus 3 lucky attendees wearing a Halloween-themed costume will walk away with their very own Origins packs 5 days before they are available for purchase! That’s right we are giving away 3 Origins Packs on every server to attendees chosen by members of the Community Team. Check out the schedule at the bottom of this announcement to find out what time your server’s Halloween Ball is scheduled.

But what if you can’t be in game during your server’s scheduled event? Well, in an effort to give as many people as possible a chance to get their hands on the Origins pack we’ll be posting a number of codes (both European and North American) on our Twitter, Facebook, and Forums. This way everyone has a chance to get an early preview of the brand new pack!

Best of Luck, and we look forward to seeing you all in game!

I can indeed confirm that these pieces are not tied to your character's origin. The name and design of the pack is thematic around the origins, but not hard coded into your choices.
  23. Hey Folks,

Our resident sound expert is looking for some focused feedback regarding the sound specifically as it applies to various powers. We’re looking to create a couple larger lists so that we can address items that could use improvement over a long period of time, so this is your chance to give feedback on sounds that have issues or you feel could use significant improvement. We’ll take this list and use it as the basis of our own investigation into any sound related issues in the game.

Feedback is important to our development process, there are two types of feedback and both are helpful although some give us more insight and are more easily adapted into game changes.

Objective Feedback: Objective feedback is based upon what you as a user see or experience that other users may also see and experience. This feedback usually can be replicated easily as it involves facts and unbiased opinions. Example: When using the base editor items are sometimes getting caught in columns or pillars.

Subjective Feedback: Subjective feedback is based upon how you feel or experience the game as yourself. This experience may not necessarily be replicated because it is based on feeling and emotion. Subjective feedback is important to us but it is usually helpful if more information is present to describe what and why you feel the way you do. Example: I like the way the graphics look on my shield animation it gives me the feeling of being truly super-powered.
