  1. I always find it incredibly slow on my connection too. And its a fairly common complaint. However it likley to be the fault of your ISP, or one of the hops inbetween you and NCSoft.

Some ISPs will throttle (limit the speed) the port that heroes uses, there is a couple of articles realting to it on the NCsoft support section: Network Ports Used by City of Heroes/Villains and changing the port in I have a problem patching or logging on to City of Heroes or City of Villains

Hope that helps. I suggest to new people to download the game then activate trial for this reason, which wont do you much good.

The game is worth it though.
  2. Also, with I18 around the corner, there will most likley be a freespec to save you buying a recipe.
  3. Paint.net is great.
GIMP is imo more powerful but less friendly.

As also said above, irfanview is good enough for most peoples needs.

Never let it be said the devs never listen to their players. How often did people request to see story arcs you get from street-sweeping? I swear there was a thread for it every couple of months.
Admittily I dont go into S&I much, but I've never seen this as a request or want since starting this game.

But if a third of a server's population is hidden, there may be a lot more people around than we think there are.
We dont know if a third of a server's population is hiding.

Apart from this only being forum goers, theres no breakdown of servers, eg do people hide more on virtue than liberty.

1/3 of the player base is generally hiding from searches.

    Final tally:
    Yes: 34
    No: 68

Is this a scientific poll? Of course not. Could a dev swoop in and say "the forum going populace is not an accurate representation of the playerbase on the whole." Of course.

But for my calculations, 1/3 hidden it is.
I'd change it to 1/3 of the forum player base are generally hidden. And I think thats far more than general population.
I don't think it requires a dev to state forum going populace is not an accurate representation of the playerbase on the whole either.

    I'm a nope btw.

Really? You think they're just going to leave it as is? Just because they're not talking about it doesn't mean it's not being looked at.
Yes... I really really and truly thought it was a conspiracy for eye wear *rolleyes*

And yes, as happy as I would be to have it fixed, I do think the complete absence of redname comment, the lack of being in known bug lists despite being well and truly brought up in beta means it ain't gonna be fixed for a long time if ever.

Where as support for your statement that it is going to be fixed is what... happy optimism? With a counter augurment of ridicule.

  11. This happens on pugs you have been on.
It doesnt happen on PUGs (TFs or Teams) in my experience.

Had people quit the team because the leader invited a stalker.
Had people threaten to quit the team, until the leader boots me.
In nearly 100% of the time People will say in Team for me to read it: "A stalker?, ugh Stalker. Oh boy Stalker etc"
I have never had any expereince like this with a stalker, or on PUG TFs when a stalker is invited.
People actually left because you had a stalker? More than once? At the start?

I've seen people get upset at stalkers (and illusion controllers) for stealthing maps in 'speed tf mode' but never ever on starting up a TF. for simply being a stalker.

I'd suggest joining global chat channels besides RO which might help avoid how you are picking these as team mates.
  13. I too doubt it will be fixed. The silence is extremely obvious.

I'd like it to be fixed. Or even mentioned on the known bugs list.

At the same time, there's tiny font on recipes font when at vendor.

If a third party was leading, I'd call you the same uncivilized words and add you my ignore list before I get kicked... and still get kicked anyway.

I'm of the school of thought that SB is highly overrated, and I have no problem teaming with kins that skip it entirely or rarely use it. However, one way to piss me off quickly is compliments for average play. I'd gladly give a standing ovation when somebody pulls off something awesome such as taking control of near wipe situation caused by somebody else's (usually me) mistake. But saying thank you for clicking my name and pressing SB every 90 seconds? Go yourself. If you want your epeen stroked you have to earn it.

And because we're on the topic, here are some other etiquette issues that piss me off.
*Requesting a teleport and having to say thank you. It's one thing if somebody comes out of the mission or waits for you while others go in, but when you choose using recall friend over twiddling your thumbs you're not getting a thank you from me!

*Saying "gratz" (or even worse "gz") every time somebody levels. Honestly, none of us give a crap and we all know this. It's exceptionally meaningless when people have a bind to say some congratulatory phrase every time they hear that dinging sound. Screw that, if I'm going to congratulate you for leveling it will be meaningful (i.e. /e clap, or announcing the newest 50 to the world.

*Not kicking khelds from the team every time a cyst spawns. I'm sorry, but if I had you in my room and came across some giant cyst that was spewing black puffy stuff you'd be kicked out so fast you'd think I slotted SB for speed. Why am I not allowed to treat khelds the same way!
You see, bad manners dont need super boost for an excuse.
  15. I'd say slashdot is as well known as 4chan, that is well known by the people who frequent it and yet another internet meme that might be known a little bit to everyone else. Not anyway known half as much as my twittering facebook space.

As for comparing slashdot with microsoft's branding - that's just lolworthy.

Unless it's I18: Market Merge. That sounds catchy...

Edit: I almost forgot about the other huge long pushed aside event that is finally fixed (Don' think I can talk about it due to NDA). Maybe that will be what I18 is named?

Same as me. Arrow keys for movement, and have a lot of binds for powers on numpad (espically ally buffs but also hasten/build up etc)

Left hand activates the attack powers.

Looking up/down done with page up/page down.
  18. A command similar would be good, though not sure what it would be. Redside/Blueside are more player terms than game terms. I guess it would say Paragon City/ Rogue Isles.

How does using the numpad make that easier? You have to move one of your hands away from its normal position, I assume. Personally, I consider that "not good". I'd really like to be able to walk around with my left hand and look around with my right at all times. Is using the numpad easier than pressing shift-2 to target for most people? What benefits does using the numpad give you? Do you place your hands at different keys?
I find shift plus number to be difficult for most to the combinations very hard on one hand.

I use arrow keys (right hand) for movement over the wasd set though <shrug>

This packs power seems most meh to me. Its a self buff, so thats nice, just seems least creative of all the different power, all the others have felt quite unqiue.

I liked the pieces enough to buy it though

Might be going to the Arena for the dayjob.

Also I think you can have arena fights from anywhere by the menu --> arena command? Doesnt matter if you are in an arena anymore.
  23. I'm sure there is a hoard of pet IOs waiting for GR.

And still more supply than demand on blueside, so bargins before then wont vannish.
  24. tanstaafl

    Call it

I call a frenzy of buying and selling in the first few hours of a reopened & merged market and not settling for a few months.
It will make the candy canes at start of winter season look like a ripple. First in will have some very good short term advantages.
People will try to price fix, salting the bid history with thier own sales & hoping it sticks for thier stock of xxxx they have stored away.
Lots of low ball bids placed on the top selling junk trying to snag bargins from those who shrug and put everything up for 1 inf like thier always do.

Glorious carnage like a +4/x8 ITF.
  25. Not of hope of winning any of these.
