There cannot be only one!!! (Because there's money to be made on sequels, reboots and tv series).
Personally, I just pretend that there was only the first Highlander, and none of the other dreck that goes by the name Highlander ever happened. The first movie was very well done, and had a satisfying ending. There never should have been any sequels, etc.
As for this reboot? Meh. I probably won't see it. Exactly what new or different take are they going to bring to the story that won't actually diminish it? -
My thoughts and well-wishes go out to the people in Japan and elsewhere affected by this earthquake.
And...wow, giant whirlpool! -
As a member of the Cracker-American community, I'd like to say that I'm not offended by the word and it's OK with me if NCSoft removes it from the banned list.
That said, if it does get removed from the list, only Cracker-Americans are allowed to use it. Sorry. -
Quote:Agreed, it is a brilliant movie. My favorite line (SPOILERS AHOY!!):The recent "True Grit" was also an adaptation of the novel, and not an adaptation of a previous movie. There is a difference between those two things.
Additionallly, the new version is indeed brilliant.
"Wait a minute, are we trading again?"
Loved those scenes with the horse trader.
AVAST SPOILERS!!! -
I can't recall the last time I had a bowl of Cap'n Crunch, but I do remember picking compacted sugar/cereal from my teeth for hours afterward. My son (age 11) has never eaten it to my knowledge. So, no big loss here.
I do remember they once sold boxes that were just Crunchberries. That was pure ambrosia and I want some now.... -
The full trailer is out:

Ouch My Eyes
The Goggles Do Nothing -
Heh, yeah. "Disjointed" and "rambling" are two words that came to mind when I read the first 4 or 5 issues of this comic. I stopped after that, because I just couldn't keep going.

Quote:True, but that can also lead to some expensive flops. See: M. Night Shyamalamadingdong. You have to take into account that actors and creative teams, not just intellectual properties, can have their own built-in audiences as well. After The Dark Knight, a lot of folks were probably sold on just seeing Nolan's name in the trailers. Snyder's got his fans too. They want people to be aware of it, sure, but they probably don't have to work as hard on selling people on it.

Quote:Han shot first!i think a more appropriate analogy is where a freespec is given because enhancement diversification, invention enhancements, inherent fitness, or some other monumental change is introduced. Your "build" was perfect or at least good enough, but due to some changes like cg, it needs to change. Say i created this movie twenty years ago. I had this scene in my head that i couldn't add because the technology just didn't exist. Now i can add it in, but instead of adding just one scene, i can change the interaction between a few of the characters because i think they would do better to provide depth to the movie.

Quote:Not just the fight scene...all the Skulls warehouse scenes are way too dark.Genuinely impressive. Great intro for a new player
One small criticism is that the warehouse fight scene is a bit dark... I know it's meant to be but a lot of the detail got lost.
But other than that very cool and I liked the subtle humour
Also, this didn't seem like an introduction to CoH for new players as much as "look how awesome GG is, oh and there's a newbie here too". -
There's one flaw with your analogy: most if not all remakes are of *successful* movies. And it's the original movie's success that causes the remake. "Hey, if it made money before it can make money again with a new audience." Very rarely (afaik) does a movie that does poorly at the box office get remade.

Quote:Actually, Hollywood has always recycled stories, both from other media (books, plays, etc.) and from earlier movies. Is it just me, or does it seem like with all these reboots/sequels that "Hollywood" is showing a severe lack of imagination? I mean, seriously...you can't come up with better storylines than ones that have already been done?
My problem is that the original Tomb Raider (which sucked, but that's not the point here) was released only 10 years ago. Hell, they're rebooting Spider-Man, and it was released in 2002. -
Hollywood is finally listening! After all the years of clamoring from hordes of fans, a reboot of the Tomb Raider movie is finally on the way!
Well, it's about time! It's been 10 whole years since the original movie with Angelina Jolie came out. That means there's about 1/3 of a generation who has only been able to see the original movie. That's just wrong, verging on criminal.
Come on Hollywood, get this done fast! And while you're at it, could we get a remake of the Thor and Captain America movies? I know they haven't even come out yet, but why wait? -
You probably already know this, but in case you don't and for anyone else who doesn't:
The Tauntaun sleeping bag was originally an April Fool's joke at ThinkGeek.com, back in 2009. Much like the red Swingline stapler in "Office Space", so many people demanded one that it is now a reality and you can actually order a Tauntaun sleeping bag of your very own. -
Quote:My thoughts as well. How about NO myths and maybe something more super/comic book like! We have touched on myths already. Let's see some epic stuff that is kinda like what we read in comics. I am thinking bring out the classic rogues gallery - like in Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and Batman (to name a few). They had some periods of amazing foes and story lines. This game is lacking a cool rogues gallery.
Enough of the Nazis and the related factions. Add some more actual super hero genre stuff and not military types etc. -
The following is my opinion/guess about why the Marvel lawsuit was settled and didn't even go to court.
1) A Marvel employee purchased City of Heroes, using Marvel money, and makes a Wolverine character with the look and name.
2) Marvel sues because the City of Heroes character creator allows players to make clones of Marvel characters, and shows their Wolverine clone as evidence.
3) A smart lawyer at NCSoft realized that, under the terms of service that the Marvel employee (and thus Marvel itself) agreed to, technically Marvel had transferred rights to the Wolverine character to NCSoft.
4) NCSoft points out to Marvel that NCSoft could make a claim on Wolverine, due to Marvel accepting City's ToS. NCSoft offers to police future characters for copyright infringement, as well as giving up any claim on Wolverine, if Marvel drops the lawsuit.
5) Marvel wisely drops the lawsuit.
Again, just conjecture. But if I can think of this, I'm pretty sure at least one of NCSoft's lawyers probably did as well. -
A couple of my favorites:
The "Fargo" wood chipper scene snow globe
This item could only be obtained by purchasing the Deluxe Collector's Edition Letterboxed VHS (yes, VHS) of the movie. Note the red flakes that float around when the globe is shaken. Classic.
From the "Rocky" action figure toys, "The Meat":
That's right, not only are there "Rocky" action figures, one of them is an "action figure" of a side of beef that Rocky used for punching practice. Note the blood-stained butcher's coat included in the package. Nice extra touch, IMHO.
I actually saw one of these in Target a few years back, around X-mas time when I was looking for Ben 10 action figures for my son. I kick myself for not buying it. -

I'm a big fan of Dick.
I also like Moorcock.
Why are you all looking at me like that? -
Quote:I guessing here, but could it be because since the crackdown the forums are a mere shadow of what they used to be?linkage
Why did I first hear about this on MSN, people?!
MSN is slower than hell when it comes to the news. -
I lose my cursor at least 3 to 5 times per playing session. An option for a larger/more brightly colored cursor would be helpful.
I can usually find the cursor by moving it to the lower right part of the screen, where my power and inspiration trays are. Having something stable as the background makes it easier to see the mouse moving on the screen. -
Ha ha! Love it! Thanks for sharing, I can't wait to show this to my fellow SF geeks.

Quote:Sadly, that sounds all too human. That's the problem.I don't fear guns. When guns have been pointed at me, and even when there was shooting around me I didn't duck, hide, or flinch. When a guy with a gun came up to my friend, I walked over to stand at my friend's side. Still, I wish every day I could have done/could do more to help then just call 911.
At least, I wasn't among those who complained to no end to the police about being inconvienced as they were questioned about the incident I mentioned earlier, and some even took out their cameras and phones to take pictures of the body. Some people don't even seem human.
It's like this brilliant piece of satire from the Onion:
Nation Somehow Shocked By Human Nature Again
