Nooo...really? We never would have guessed, not in a million years.

It's actually a good thing that you are so lacking in subtlety. It makes it much easier to identify you as a threat to the group and take you out.
  2. What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

IIRC, all of the dead bodies we've seen just lying around were in places where there was a military presence. That is, all of them were shot in the head.

    ::::::::COMIC SPOILERS AHOY!!!::::::::

In the comic Andrea shot Amy in the head immediately to keep her from reanimating.

In the comic, if you die for ANY reason other than a head-shot, you come back as a zombie. Oh, and in the comic the reanimation happens MUCH faster, like just a minute or two (or less) after death.

I guess the only question I'd have is whether or not the original comic book author is either directly working on the TV show right now or at least publicly endorses the changes that'll be made. If that were the case I'd have no misgivings about changes at all. Otherwise there's always the chance things can go bad.

There have been a few recent examples of TV/movie adaptations which have been handled that way. For instance Charlaine Harris (the author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels that HBO's True Blood is based on) has strongly supported the changes they've made to her original storylines and I'd have to agree the TV show is better than the books in a number of ways. Another good example is the recent American movie remake of the Swedish "Let The Right One In" (called "Let Me In") which was endorsed by the original author of the novel as a faithful adaptation.

Hopefully any changes to The Walking Dead will also be done in ways that fit within the original vision of the story.
Oh yes, Kirkman is heavily involved with the show. In fact, Episode 4 was written by Kirkman, and most of the episode was not in the comic. I've read interviews with Kirkman where he says he has utmost faith in the direction Frank Darabont is taking the show, and Kirkman thinks the changes/additions are great.
  6. My favorite part was the animation sequence showing the story of the Three Brothers while Hermione narrated. I thought it was a brilliant choice, and the animation style was inspired. I also thought they did Ron getting "splinched" very well. I was cringing looking at the wounds on his arm. Finally, I really liked the scene where the Snatcher guy is standing right in front of Hermione but he can't see her because of the wards, he can only smell her perfume.

I also thought the acting in this one is the best of all the movies so far, especially Emma Watson.

Edit: Really looking forward to part 2. We're going to get both the robbery and escape at Gringott's and The Battle of Hogwarts! Yay!
  7. This is just a viral marketing campaign started by Troy Hickman to promote his upcoming mini-series "Twilight Guardian", available starting in January at all retailers of fine comic books.

At least I haven't encountered the "can't log back in either" bug so far today.
  9. Seriously, fix the damn forums logout bug already. It makes the forums, and by extension NCSoft, look shoddy and amateurish. Not exactly confidence-inspiring, know what I'm sayin'?

Yeah I read about him on wikipedia and I know it's not a tumor, I just couldn't resist.

I'm pretty sure that's Batgirl, and the "leech" is her red hair.
  15. Zombie Man's name is an anagram for Man Zombie. Scary, when you think about it.

I am Sleestack, and I approve this message.
  16. In my life, I have known a few people just like Merle. They all talked like that, "lily white ***" and all. Merle's dialog wasn't as cliche or fake as some seem to think.

As to Dale's dialog about the ineffectiveness of words, well, it struck me as someone who wasn't used to expressing deep thoughts and was trying his best to be profound. One can either take that as poor writing (just give him some good, profound dialog) or as good writing (the dialog fits with someone who's not used to talking like that). Personally, it didn't bother me that much because again, I've known real people to talk that way. That is, struggling to be eloquent when they aren't.

Oh I'm right there with you on that. There are parts of the comic that I've thought, "Man if I had been there that would have gone FAR better for the "good" guys." I can't go into details without major spoilers, but yeah, there have been points where I wanted to scream at the characters for not being more tactical in their thinking and actions.

The way I see it, you're the one assuming they have "selective amnesia". Even in the comic, the people aren't shown every second of every day. There are often gaps where a couple of weeks or more have gone by between issues. Perhaps the discussion you would like to see occurred during a "down" time.

It doesn't really bother me not knowing the whys and wherefores - I laughed at the end of Shaun of the Dead when he changed the channel right as the newscaster was going to explain what caused the zombie outbreak. The character didn't want to see it because it was all anyone talked about, and he was tired of it.

Perhaps people aren't talking about it because when we enter the story it's already several weeks after the start of the zombies. They may have already had all of those discussions and bare survival has taken precedence over something that ultimately is of no consequence if you can't do anything about it.

I don't have a problem with you wanting to see them discuss how it all got started. I just don't think it's necessary like you do, and I actually think it might detract from the point of the show. It's not about the zombies or how it all got started, it's about the survivors and how they deal with this ongoing, worldwide, slow-motion disaster of epic proportions.
