Here's another thought to chew on. What party, Republican or Democrat, seems to be infringing on our freedoms more? While it may seem the ones coming from the right are more numerous, we actually get more restrictions from the left. The ones coming from the right tend to be more about national security while the ones from the left tend to be more domestic issues. One example that is affecting just the gaming comminity is that we got bills going through Congress that will make games such as CoH or other violent games be unable to be sold. There's a restriction on our freedoms right there. Just look around the country and you'll see plenty of our freedoms being restricted on the basis of "equality" for all. As for brainwashing tools for different sides of the government, what do you think the liberal media has done?

I am commenting solely on "bills going through Congress that will make games such as CoH or other violent games be unable to be sold."

These bills exist solely on the misguided belief of "extremists" [probably not the word I should use] in America that believe violent video games are the cause of the increased violence among the youth of America. I have been playing "violent" video games for many, many years [I'll be 47 this year] and I personally have no use for guns, and the only violence I use is to defend myself. If video games were the root cause of the violence amongst today's youth then I would expect more people my age to be similarly violent. The facts do not bear out the reasoning behind these bills.

I believe the real problem with today's youth is lack of parental supervision. I know for a fact that there a children out there whose parents have no idea where they are, and truthfully do not care as long as they are not bothering them. A large part of their environment is therefore missing, and thus a great deal of moral values are missing. It's for America's parents to take responsibility for the actions of their children. What part violent video games plays in this can be controlled them, since common sense should tell most people that a game is not real life.

  2. This certainly makes me less upset...now I'll wait to see what people have to say about the actual effectiveness of the buffs...
  3. I did not read each and every post to this thread, I have work to do here.

I am not surprised by the costs involved for these buffs. It has been obvious to this casual player for some time that the devs have no idea what it is to be a casual player.

I do not remember at what level salavge came into being, I know I was lvl 15 when I5 forced me to respec my tanker, and I am now lvl 30. I can guarantee you that I probably do not have enough salvage to create more than 1 or 2 buffs if I have enough for that.

If these "Empowerment Stations" were meant to help small SG's then it was not meant for Small SG's of casual players. Once again we are left out in the cold. We can afford the station but it will be nigh on useless to us...

Hi all you scrappers out there.

I realize it will all be a matter of opinion, and I wonder if I am on the right track while having only two attacks until lvl 18. any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have already faceplanted twice, both on the same mission. Defeat Death's Head and crew. [better known as Mr. Bones when you get to him.]

When you still have an Atari 2600 and a Vectrex that still work....and most people won;t even know what a Vectrex is....

    [/ QUOTE ]

I own BOTH (including a FULL Vectrex Collection, all games, all attachments, but in storage somewhere).....and my age? Let's just say ALL my toons are younger than me if one equates a year with a level....hehe

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm glad someone else would admit that they know what a Vectrex is. I don't have anywhere near a complet collection, and no additional attachments [except a 2nd controller].

I knew it not a single person that has read this thread since I posted even responded to this...why? the never heard of the Vectrex that's why.....
By the way I am old...I had most of the Transformers from the original series [I think I still do], I also had an Action Jackson doll [the GI JOE competition way back when]......I'm 46

Well to start placing some scale on the table, I personally scale SG size to the following:

Small SG: 4-16 regular players*/1-2 full teams
Medium SG: 17-32 regular players/2-4 full teams
Large SG: 33-48 regular players/4-6 full teams
Huge SG: 49-75 regular players/6-9 full teams

    Who agrees/doesn't agree?

*Physical players; not characters or "alts" which can make up the remaining 75 limit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I won't disagree with you as that is what you think/believe.
The SG I belong to consists of 3 casual players, who hope that these empowerment stations are truly affordable even to us. Out base currently consists of the deafult room with some decorations, and we have approx. 300K prestige banked ATM.

So where does 3 casual players [probably less than 10hrs/wk each] fit in. I guess you need a fifth level there, puny/miniscule.
  10. I'm not saying it should be just for AR & Archery those are just the two that most logically should have a DoT affect. I'm sure it could be justified for the others as well.

    I realize these are just ideas, but since DoT logic exists throughout the game, I would think it would not be that difficult to add to other powers. {I am by no means a professional programmer and defer to any actual programmers as to the ease of this type of change.}

The easiest fix would be an inherent that actually works, since I have never seen Defiance work at all. No I have not purposely run around with very few hit points as I consider that shear stupidity, but the few times that I have been barely alive with my blaster the Defiance bar has been barely active so therefore Defiance does not work in my opinion. If I'm down to 5 hp then my Defiance should be damn near full, not almost empty.

OOPS I'm ranting about defiance again. Sorry.
  11. AR/Archery fix:

I said this some time ago when there was a similar discussion of how to "fix" blasters.

These both should have some kind of DoT component as the foe will be bleeding from the successful attacks. It also makes sense [logically]. Maybe that's why it's not in there, hmmmmm.
  12. I said it from the beginning, and some have said it in this thread:

Do yourself a favor and forget that defiance even exists. At best it will prolong your life a short time by allowing you to kill one more thing at worst it won't do jack....

I have two blasters that I play periodically and I have no intention on relying on an inherent power that by design [in my opinion, no offense to the devs] should be ignored.

    Twas...

    That was great....

it would be great if it could show up on a billboard or even as grafitti on the side of a building...
  14. Not a direct reply to Statesman.

As another recent poster said I do not have time to read 24 pages of posts, so pardon me if this has been said already.

    To all SR scrappers:

This will be as useful to you as Defiance is to Blasters. In other words do not depend on it or you will be dead.

    I5

    [ QUOTE ]
First, a big thank you to everyone who played on the Training Room server and helped I5 to be one of our best launches ever! We’re extremely happy about how I5 went live.

Second, we’re still scouring the boards for bugs and other issues, but we’ve finished making large changes to the power sets. We’ll still be looking at issues as the arise. For instance, there are issues with Defense builds; we’re going to look at that problem more carefully (the Damage Resistance Inspirations are a step, but there's a little more to come).

Thanks for all your great feedback!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let me preface this by saying I did not read this entire thread, and I'm not sure I ever will.

From what perspective do you find this to be a "BEST" Statesman? I was here when I4 was launched and I don't remember it having anywhere near the number of bugs that I5 has. If this is one of your best I would hate to be around for one of your worst.

We have the sound loop which caused my computer to hang completely, had never happened before that. I hear this was an issue on test. If so how did it go live.

Then there is the voids in the caves which were not there pre-I5 as I had done many cave missions prior to I5 and not seen it once. Nice that you give us an update that breaks things.

There are the Lost connection to map server issues which I had only happened infrequently before, and no seem to happen every time I play.

Never mind that lag has gotten worse as well, even without the free trial folks around.

I'm sure there are more things I could bring up, but most of those would be beating a dead horse.

Seems to me that you claim far more praise for I5 than you deserve. When you've fixed the bugs, most of which were there in testing, then maybe you can make some claims about it being one of the best issues. But unless you plan on further issues being more problematic I wouldn't continue bandying the BEST word about in reference to I5.

P.S. Nerf this message if you must but it won't make my opinion of I5 any better.
