Quote:No numbers necessary. I was looking for this kind of input, too.I am very far from a numbers person. The incarnate I have Diamagnetic on is my DM/Regen scrapper. I looked at what was offered and not getting hit looked good to me. (also none at the time were thematic with DM).
When I'm doing missions at +8 I get hit an awful lot more before I do an AOE power.
I try to run into the middle of a mob and hit Soul Drain. As soon as I see the animation for Diamagnetic I seem to be getting hit less.
I notice that when I don't get it on the mob I am very busy with regen clickies. And when I get something off that hits everyone suddenly I'm not dieing as fast.
Yes, no numbers there. I just know that when I hit with an AOE I take far less damage.
;shrug YMMV -
I know the go to Interface power is Reactive, but some of my melee toons need a little more survivability. It seems that Diamagnetic would be a great *if* it is effective. Are there numbers for this that someone has or even good experiences?

Quote:My sand blast/sword manipulation corr rocks it. Oh wait, nm.
Black Scorpion was a brute, Ghost Widow a dominator, Mako a stalker, Recluse a mastermind, and Scirocco a corruptor (sand blast and... sword manipulation, I guess). I think CoV in general tried to build the characters around the limitations of the game, while the heroes are just a bunch of cheatyfaces. -

Quote:Not nitpicking, serious question: Are you saying Faultline revamp was 6 years ago? Is that true? It feels like 3ish.Honestly this is unfair, but the fact that people treat it as fair is kinda funny...
Fusionette is atomic powered, flying, veteran at this point... She was a new hero back in Faultline. That was six years ago. She's now a veteran in vanguard, which she joined a year later. So she's been fighting the Rikti at lvl50 for 5 years now. -
Quote:I was amused at Infernal's powersets, too. I guess envious might be a better descriptor!Never noticed the character stats part of the wiki articles. Perusing those, I was surprised to learn that Citadel is considered a Blaster (um, yeah, he blasts...but he looks so rugged!) and that Infernal was Numina's sidekick, who eventually made the big time. He ought to be the idol of sidekicks everywhere! He's also listed as a Tanker/Blaster hybrid (the dreaded tankmage?) with the signature power "Demon Summoning." I wonder if a better description would be Tanker/Mastermind (Demon Summoning) with Fire Blast powers simply replacing the whip attacks. Or maybe even just Mastermind (DS/Fire Blast) and rely on Bodyguard to account for his toughness.

Quote:Very Nice. Thanks.
Anyone know if there is a link for other heroes (like Ms. Liberty, for example)? -
I know most people seem to know this, but can someone tell me (or give a link) to a list of the ATs and Powersets of the members of the Freedom Phalanx? I'd love to also know things about the other Heroes (Like Back Alley Brawler, for example).
Thanks in advance. -
I TRULY appreciate the help, but I was (am?) looking for the day job icons on the pic; I wasn't looking for a history plaque, so I am apparently looking for the wrong thing. I also didn't know that vidiotmaps has the day jobs on it. I haven't updated those in a very long time so I will and problem solved. THANKS.

Quote:Thanks. I had seen the wiki page, but it doesn't list WHERE and the badge hunter page says those are the day jobs, but it doesn't tell me WHERE those two are. Those symbols are not on map. Help?Vidiotmaps:
http://www.badge-hunter.com/index.ph...t_ward&type=po
[EDIT]
Dust Ranger - History Plaque #4 on that map, I prefer to stay by the transit building's doors.
Psychologist - Explore badge #5 is at Mother's hospital, anywhere near/on the building.
Survivalist - Inside the Survivor Compound, not in the buildings, the inset in the NW corner.
Scavenger - Anywhere else in First Ward.
[/EDIT]

I just found out that there are day job locations in First Ward (Never play there--who knew?). I see online the names of the places, but it doesn't seem to be intuitive when I am there. Can someone tell me how to find the DUST Training Facility and the Survivor Compound?

THIS...OMG. The entire post is incredibly arbitrary and I think many people would disagree. A blaster is not desirable? (One of many, many things I disagree with). I love when I jump on a team that has such high DPS...it means I will be done faster. The only part I would agree with is if it was only blasters, and then I would only agree sometimes.
Defender highly desirable? While I really do like defenders, I would much prefer a corruptor or troller because of the whole package.
MM is useful? Sometimes, not at all.
I just have to let this go. This post is crazy! LOL -
While I do think that it must get frustrating not to be able to be TRULY evil as a villain, I think sometimes it just makes sense. Even in comics, there are times that the villain aids the heroes to benefit themselves.
If the world was going to be destroyed, a villain would just sit back and let it, even if it means their own demise? Hardly. -
For the uninformed (ME), who is Ascendent? Why do we want him?
-
I think this is a great idea and a great honor. How fun! And the people that put a lot of time into their characters will have even more reason to look closely and submit. FUN.

Quote:Yes, I mean x8...same thing to me. Most people get it, but thanks for helping. You can't set the difficulty to +8.
You could set it to +4 (levels)/ x8 (players). I guess x8 is, technically, equivalent to +7 players, but no one says it that way.
It's an important distinction. When we see +4/+8 we know you mean +4/x8 from context, but outside of that context, saying "I'm setting it to +3" on a PUG implies you're changing the enemy level, not the number of foes. -
-
Great. So AT LEAST as good, but not lower. That was basically what I wanted to be sure of, that I wasn't taking away chances.
Quote:Yes and no, really.
Purples drop from any enemies capable of dropping Level 50 IO recipes. A minion has the same chance to drop a purple at -1 as a +4 would. So the drop rate per kill is the same.
However, you're likely to be able to kill the -1 much faster, so drop rate over time increases by going at -1/+8 than at +4/+8. -
Do I understand it correctly that if I am a lvl 50 and I play missions at -1/+8, that my drop rate for purples is the same as if I was +0/+8 or even +4/+8?

Quote:I understand you point. Don't stress until/if it happens. You know, EVENTUALLY you're going to die.
START PANICKING!
You know, that completely full tank of gas will eventually empty out.
TIME TO PULL OVER!
You know, somewhere, someone is WRONG ON THE INTERNET!
RRRRRRRAAAAAAGE!!!
In short, life is too damn short to go borrowing trouble.
Currently the game and Paragon have given us zero indication that they're going to be shuttering the service any time in the near future. Indeed, the game is ever-expanding.
Currently they're the 800 pound gorilla of the Superhero MMO market. Every other game in the genre is compared to CoH. A nearly 8 year old game. And in many categories CoH trounces even brand new stuff QUITE handily.
And with other MMOs like Evercrack coming up on Year 14, it shows that if a game can maintan a reasonable level of profitability, it can go on more or less indefinitely.
I was just expressing how much I love the game and the thought of having to look for something else kills me. That's all. -
