Quote:I am sure they dont, but I feel the same. Much as I am angry with NCsoft, I am not silly enough to think that not giving them my money, will have any impact on them whatsoever. However, I am not going to cut off my nose to spite my face, and not play a really good MMO (GW2), just to prove a point. Each to their own.
I assume then that you agree with the course of action that NCsoft has taken with CoH and Paragon Studios?
Lets be honest, we all hope COH is gonna be saved, but if not, I want to have a game to play, and to my mind if I avoided the only other decent MMO, it would be me that is losing out, not NCsoft. I also happen to think that as an adult, that would also be a little childish in the real world. Sure we are all angry, but stamping our feet and throwing a paddy will solve nothing.
P.s Another point is that mosy publishers behave this way anyway, Sony have a bad rep from most players, as do EA etc... I we only bought games from companies with a conscience, then we would not have much choice.... Also if we all behaved that way, then we should have all quit COH when the closed down Tabula Rasa.... but we didnt, because we liked playing COH, so in all fairness our boycotting is a little selective... -
Quote:Feel free to not purchase NCsoft products. Feel free to badmouth NCsoft. But stop badmouthing a game (GW2) and company (ArenaNet) that had nothing to do with the shutdown. Don't take your hurt over City's sunset out on ArenaNet. That's their livelihood. Try it before you bash it.
In all honesty, it's a really great game and I haven't had as much fun as I'm having there since playing City. It's a completely different look and feel, but I'm having fun in there. It's a good home while I am too hurt to play City without feeling nauseous.
Could not agree more with this post... Much as I adore COH, and think we must do everything we can to save it, punishing Arenanet is a horrid idea. Now this is my take on things....
Like everyone here, I was in two minds wether to buy Guild Wars 2 or not because of NCsoft. But after my initial anger was replaced with sadness, I started to try and think a little more clearly. This is what I am feeling now. Firstly by not Buying GW2 I would be really only be punishing myself, and cutting off my nose to spite my face. Put it this way, Arenanet had to stop selling the product after 2 days, because the servers could not cope with the demand, so realistlly my purchase would make no real difference to NCsoft.
Even if it did, it would hurt Arenanet more than NC, and what have i got against Arenanet? ... nothing. Also having played GW2, it is a very very good game, and will be responsible for a move to Next Gen MMO's, as it does very much think outside the box, and bring huge amounts of polish and new ideas to the Genre, whish has got to be a good thing for the MMO industry.
Finally, I agree that we do not want to come off bitter and twisted. If we can save COH, it will be because of the cool heads of people like the Titan Network and Golden Girl, not people shouting "go on hit him".....
Bottom line, I am not prepared to sit on my own in a room with no fun game to play, just because of a principal. I NEED a game to replace COH IF it goes, the only MMO that is any good out there atm is Guild Wars 2. -
I must say I am a huge fan of the new Hybrid model. I am full VIP, and will continue to be, but I returned recently after a break, because of the effect the new model is having on the game. I also have bought lots of stuff on top of my Subscription, and the reason is that there is so much good stuff being produced.
Sice the change, the increase in new goodies has been awesome, and long may it last. I was not a fan of free MMO's before seeing Freedom in action, but I feel that NCSoft has done things just about right. So well done to the Devs.... and long may it continue! Keep up the good work! -
ok.... So I want everything, and I want it all now, why can't I have it!
Sigh.... I give up
Every day someone here seems to want more and more, or should I say EXPECT more and more. In the end people will just want a lvl 50 with every power in the game slotted on one toon, the minute they log on. Then they don't even have to waste time playing the game at all.....
Its like .... " why cant I have 100 Gorilla pets with red eyes that fire ice from their nostrils.... why devs... why cant I have that......"
If people need to ask, they are probably not old or wise enough to being allowed on the internet tbh..... -
Many thanks for that info.... As I approach 50 I was starting to wonder about accurate info on this... Hope this gets Stickied.... it deserves too!

Apart from Overwhelming Force Enhancements not appearing when you reload a build, the whole set has completely different set bonus stats from those in game. Thanks for all the hard work at Mids, but thought I would bring these 2 errors to your attention.
Many Thanks -
Hi
I will be honest, and admit that I have not read the whole thread. But I do have one that may raise questions.....
If my name in real life IS Michael Jackson, and I proceed to make a character after my own name, would that still be in violation. Lets face it, the Celebrity Michael Jackson did not own copywright to my name?
Infact, I am pretty sure you cannot even copywright a name. -
Hi,
I am playing a fairly new Gravity/Dark Troller, and I cant put it down. Hugely survivable, and really nice single target damage. I hit harder than my dominators! Anyway here is the build i am aiming for, but the Incarnate selections were made with little experience, so wondering if it looks ok, or could use some tweaking?
Many thanks.....
P.S No trying to hijack the thread, just looking for the same info as the OP. Also maybe my build will help the OP a bit too.
My main aims were pretty much achieved. Soft capping Ranged and Smash/Lethal on top of all the -To hit from my Dark spells and Fluffy. Perma Hasten, and perma Soul Absorbtion. perma Fade, and finally perma Earth's Emabrace, upping my hit points by 500 at lvl 50.

Hi,
He he..... I do have to chuckle. I think people need to realize that virtually everyone have different views and opinions. Even from reading this one thread, some people love the dog, and some people hate it. Infact it is quite clear here, that everyone wants something slightly different from the next person. How on earth are the Devs expected to come up with a pet that everyone likes?
If it had been a Demon, people would say "its too big", or if it was black smoke, people would say "wow those Devs had been lazy".... etc. Everyone here has their idea of darkness, and expect the Devs to mind read what form that should take, and not disapoint anyone in the process.
Conclusion: You cant please everyone!
You can customize the dog, and if you play around with it you may be surprised. I used blacks and reds, and got quite a cool looking hound. But hey maybe I am not quite as fussy as some people here -
Quote:Title pretty much covers it. I've been contemplating rolling up a Fire/Dark/Stone Troller for a while now and with the new found glory of Bonfire (I know, I know...it'll be nerfed), I thought that now is that time.
I've played Dark Miasma sets on several Defenders, so I feel comfortable with the powers that carry over to /DA (Tar Patch, Twlight Grasp, Howling Twilight...etc.). I'm less sure about the 2 new DA powers though. Namely, Fade and Soul Abosorb.
Chief among my concerns are:
1) Can either or both of these powers be made "perma". I have a high recharge build in mind and was hoping they could be.
2) Slotting? I was thinking for Fade I'd do Lotg 7.5%/Def, Def/Rch and Def/end/Rch. Then I was going to slot Soul Absorb with 5 sets of Doctored Wounds. Is there a better way to slot these? Pleas elet me know if I've missed something.
3) Any additional advice for Dark Servant slotting is always welcome. I typically just slot it for accurate tohit debuff but I'm never 100% sure that's the best way to do it.
Thanks in advance for any tips/advice/critiques.
Hi,
I am playing a Gravity/Dark Troller, but I will help as best I can. I also enclose a Mids Data Link to show you my slotting etc.
1) Yes both can be made Perma, as you will see in my build.
2) See Build but 7.5% recharge for sure, then i went with Red fortune, but I wanted more recharge from the set bonus. For Soul Absorbsion I went for a set of Efficency adaptors, but what ever you decide, it is best to go for the endurance sets imho. The reason being that with Twighlight Grasp, you have one of the best heals in the game. So you are not gonna need the regen in my view as much as the recovery.
3) See Build but went for a full set of Cloud Senses, again for set bonus's and also the huge -To Hit from fluffies abilities rock, and enhancing them is a good plan. Please note for Controllers Fluffy is perma out the box, but with recharge I have him down to like 60 secs.... nice to soak up a nasty alpha if needs be.

Hi all,
Yes... I picked Gravity/Dark as my latest Troller, and to be honest I am finding it to be a blast. Infact I am finding the damage great, and with the new Gravity changes, and containment, I am finding it kills stuff solo, quicker than my dominators can. Now bear in mind I am talking purely single target.
However with this combo I get 2 pets. A controller pet (Singy), who holds, lifts and imobilizes anything that moves, and a healer/Debuffer (Fluffy), who also AE (cone) imobilizes setting up containment nicely. With the -to hit debuffs ontop of my defence cap, plus my control and the pets controls, also my personal heal and fluffy's heal.... things are pretty safe.
Add in the -30% Res debuff, and Seismic Smash and Fissure from the epics, and your single target chain from gravity, and your damage can be pretty nice too.
I have also found this combo to be very easy to "IO set" out. Infact with no purples, I can still get Range and S + L both to the defence cap, and have perma hasten and the relevant Global recharge that comes with it. This means that I have an attack chain as powerful as most dominators (not as varied admittedly), but with debuffs and heals too. It does lack a little in AOE damage tho to be fair, but solo that is not an issue, and on teams I spend all my time debuffing and Healing, so its not too much of an issue. If I really get envious, I can allways fissure the pack just too see some orange numbers:P
This toon alone has made it hard to go back and play my dominators again, although I must admit, I have allways prefered the varied playstyle of the Troller anyway..... -

Hi again,
Just a quick question. According to mids, global recharge does not seem to effect the Incarnate clicky abilities (120 sec). Is this also true in game, or just an error with mids? -
Hi
Just a quick question. I keep reading posts about "Double Hit", and assume it is like some kind of Double attack that you get in some games, but cant seem to find any info on it. Most importantly how do you get it? Is it a passive ability? Is it something to do with Incarnates, or is it an ability you train?
If anyone can give me the heads up. I have a couple of retired lvl 50's and my current toons are in their mid thirties, but I have never as far as I know seen a "Double Hit" before.
Cheers in advance! -
Hi,
Not trying to sound like a smart alec, but I think it is important that the game does evolve and this includes improvment to the graphics. This is ultimatly gonna have an effect on some peoples systems. Note my machine is over a couple of years old, and I have not had any problems at all with lag in these events, so I think you may need to start thinking about upgrading at some point.
I think that if the game is to survive, it will become better looking, and this not only includes the graphics themselves, but the fx too. Infact maybe it is some of the new flashy power sets which are the cause of the slowdown? Anyway, not what you were expecting to hear no doubt, but they sadly cant hold up the refurbishment of the game until you get a new machine, and I think most people prefer the new stuff to the old by a mile, so dont think you will get huge amounts of agreement on this one.....
P.s As I mentioned my machine being 2 years old and it running Gladiator fine, I dont think it is fair to say they expect people to upgrade every few months, because that is clearly not true. It could also be a specific glitch with your pc and this mission, that nobody else is even getting to be fair, and judging by the lack of posts agreeing with you, this seems quite likely. lets face it, if everyone was finding this unplayable, there would be a rather long post on the forums by now.... -
Hi
Just wanted to say thanks to all you guys for posting such great and precise information. Very much appreciated. Any more info is allways welcome, so please carry on! -
Quote:Hi,A couple of quick, small suggestions that might make a pretty big difference:
I believe that Fly does not benefit from Flightspeed, but even if it does, try slotting that Zephyr -Knockback in Fly. Then slot Super speed with a Celerity Stealth. That gives you full invisibility when you want/need it. I find full invisibility VERY valuable with my Grav/Storm . . . the ability to lead Singy into a group while they don't see you is wonderful. For your teams, you will be able to stealth missions when needed -- even if a glowie is surrounded by a few foes, you can pull out Singy to distract them while you hit the glowie.
Granted, you could get full invis several other ways, but putting a Celerity in Super Speed is the simplest.
Unless you spend a lot of time "hoverblasting," I would consider changing Hover for Combat Jumping. It gives you a small amount of defense without having to be in the air, and the immob protection can be lifesaving. I tend to battle with super speed on, letting me run around the battlefield quickly. CJ can be very helpful to prevent being Rooted.
Thanks for the reply, and appreciate the help from one of the Troller Elder Statesman, as I have often enjoyed reading your posts (my main was Ill/Storm).
Anyway to busines.....
I do indeed start my battles as you have described, with myself invisible, and singy taking the agro, but i use Shadowfall and Superspeed. As I like having SS anyway, and already have Hasten, SS and Shadowfall, lets me not worry about the IO thankfully. I would imagine your Grav/Storm could mimic this effect with Steamy mist and SS.
Now onto your second point.....Awesome.... Just the little thing I was looking for. I thought I had already used all 4 power pools, and was just using Hover as a mule tbh, so that is a great change! A massive Thanks!
Cheers again for you taking the time to post, as in my mind you are a bit of a Legend Local!
P.S Thanks for the tip on Fly aswell. I did not know the enhance fly speed did not work! -
Hi all,
I am having a lot of fun with my new Gravity/Dark Troller. My main concern is single target damage when soloing, and Healing and Support when small teaming. I am not interested in raiding tbh. Within this criteria, my main aim was the Ranged Defence Soft cap, and also recharge to the point of perma Hasten. I am pretty pleased with the build below, but am happy to receive any advice in relation to slight slotting tweaks, etc.
Please note that I will not be using any purple sets.
Anyway let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance.....

Hi
I have just come back after a years break, and I am curious about the Incarnate content. I do sometimes group, but I do play odd hours, and tend to enjoy soloing alot too. My question is basically how far can I get along the Incarnate ladder just by soloing?
I have read up on various sites some info, but I also think that alot of the info is outdated, and that some Solo friendly Incarnate stuff has since been released? For example, of all the slots Alpha, lore, etc, how many can be got by soloing? Also at what level can i get each slot too, without having to group or Raid. If anyone can give a brief simple breakdown from the solo perspective, it would be awesome!
Thanks in advance -
Many thanks.... I think you may be right.. I had not thought of it, but it certainly could be possible. Thanks again...

Hi
No it was literally a static spawn of 3 helion minions. I placed Dimension shift to split the mobs. The one that got phased inside was rooted and phased. The 2 Helions behind obviously saw me and agroed, and run thru and past the phased mob, then out this side to attack me.
I was baffled cause I am sure they should have been auto imobilized when they ran into it.
I tried it several times, and got similar results. sometimes they seemed to get rooted in there but mostly they just ran on thru. I specced out of it in disgust tbh, but may have to get it back to try again. -
Indeed, sadly this was with Helions in the AE just to play with the power. Unless it is something to do with it being an AE mission, but if so, not sure why. I havent tried it on mobs in the street so to speak yet. Just wondered if anyone else was having the same problem?
-
Quote:Thanks for the reply, all seems good thanks, although I seem to be having a problem with mobs that enter the phase after it is laid down. Here is the problem as I have posted in another thread, maybe I am alone with what seems like a bug?I've DS'd +6 Bosses.
You know how a self-phase power means "you can't touch me"? And that has great defensive uses? Well, DS is a "you can't touch anyone" power (unless they enter the sphere of phase).
Try it on turrets and plyons for extra fun.
Lead out escorts dropping a bubble of 'stay-put-and-do-nothing' behind you.
"Sorry Lambda robotic hall monkeys, you no follow!"
"Hey, guys. There's an ambush here. I'll release them once you get here."
"Oh hai glowy guardians! I'm gonna click this while you watch me unable to do anything about it. I'm in your base clicking your stuff!!!"
"Hey, Scrapper, go punch that exploding thing in your own little pocket dimension while I stand out here not taking any of that phased exploding damage."
"Hi again,
Well I have now got Dimension Shift, and have been playing around with it, but I think it may be slightly bugged. Let me explain the peoblem I am having...
If I trap a bunch of mobs in it, then all is good, they get imobilized, and phased no problem. However, the power description also says that mobs who enter the phase will also be imobilized and phased. This is not allways happening. Mobs seem to happily run from the far side of the bubble, through it and out the other side, and start beating on me.
Basically the Imobilize does not seem to allways lockdown mobs that pass thru the field. Having checked, the imobilize I believe is now mag10 and also auto hit, so no idea how the run thru it without being immobilized.
I think they seem to phase when in the bubble, but not get rooted, unless they were inside when it was actually put down.
Any thoughts welcome!" -
