  1. Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy a wireless router that would be good for gaming. For consoles and hand helds mainly, laptop use would be mainly for web browsing, my desktop will always have a hard line connection. I'd like to avoid stuff like flashing 3rd party firmware. Can anyone please recommend a router that would be good for that? Thanks.
  2. Influence? Around the end of issue 1 I started reading the forums and many posters whose names I can't remember gave me valuable advice when I started playing.

When I started a guy named Cobalt Stalker and I teamed a lot and he helped me out.

When I started getting burnt out the first time Liberty Sentry and a SG called The Constitutionalists kept me going.

When I started getting burnt out the second time a person named Tackles and a SG named DoIDD kept me going.

When I started getting burnt out the third time SGs named DoIDD, Justice Squad Elite, and the Tempest Legion kept me going.

When I started getting burnt out the fourth time people named Kaiser Soze, Apple, Steam, Toona, Lucas, Con, Solo and Ume kept me going.

    And now? I don't know.
  3. Hi everyone,

I was looking to create a online art portfolio, just something where I can upload some pictures and maybe some captions for the pictures. Maybe someplace I should make a slide show or something where someone could click through them one at a time. Nothing fancy.

I know about deviant art but are there any other options anyone knows about where you could create something I described for free? Thanks.
  4. How do you play with one mouse button?

The video says they locked up Rularuu but in fact shows video of Ruladak the Strong, one of the 7 split up components of Rularuu.

Good to know... but where is this info in-game? Is this just information "leaked" from the CoX Story Bible by a dev? And where are these "factory cubes" that are talked about?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've been wondering that for a long time myself and I have never seen an answer about where the info about the non-ingame Rularuu components is. If I had to guess, people found character descriptions by digging through pigg files. As for the cubes: In the 2 or so days the COP trial was up the cubes spawned rularuu minions underneath them until they were all defeated. Once the three cubes were cleared you could enter the cavern that had more cubes and Ruladak. After he was defeated your SG was awarded an IOP.

    That being said, nice video!

He's [Positron] also excited about the addition of traditional RPG branching tree dialogue, something they didn't have in City of Heroes until this Issue and will now begin to use quite a bit.

"In this issue it's just the test bed for it, we got the tech late into the development process so we were not able to use it everywhere we wanted to," said Miller.

This allows them to put options into conversations or theoretically do things like present players with situations like which wire to cut when diffusing a bomb. It sounds simple, but it makes their options as mission designers much greater.

Miller could not - however - comment on whether they plan to go back over old content and backwards integrate this technology.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, quite simply put, this may be the most significant feature coming in I12, especially if they end up eventually going back and re-writing a bunch of the older arcs using this tech. We could see real consequences for failing certain missions, end-of-mission decisions that change the outcome of the mission (do you let the kidnap victim go, taking his/her bribe, or turn him/her in?) and real choices in mission selection ("Oh? If I don't fix this problem, you're telling me I'm going to regret it? Bring it!"), just to name a few ideas off of the top of my head.

I12 just keeps getting better and better....

I agree. I haven't played a large amount of MMOs but I can't think of one that has branching mission structure or dialog trees. If they can pull this off and do what I'm thinking, this could be a revolutionary step forward for the genre not just the game.

The possibilities of this feature boggle my mind. Mainly I'm thinking of the shear amount of story and characterization that this feature could infuse the game with and also the massive amount of work it would require to implement with missions which would become incredibly more complex if character choices can start to influence the outcome of the story.

This would help solve or at least alleviate one of the biggest problems of the genre. Namely, the repetition and grind of MMO game play. In all the MMOs I've played the missions are: Go here, kill x, collect x, protect x, etc. If they can implement this then instead of passively riding through the story on rails the players will be able to choose how they wanted to proceed through the story, make choices, and interact with the NPCs. Those choices would affect how the story plays out and what kind of missions and story the characters will have based on the choices they make through a mission arc, for example. This would greatly enhance replayability so you could see how different choices affect the outcome of the story as you played through the arcs on different characters.

Think about any RPG, adventure game, or any game with a branching story for example. You are able to choose how you want to proceed through the game and there are many alternate sections or endings you can play through based on the choices you make. It also determines how the NPCs in the game will react to you.

This would also allow NPCs to be more than buttons you press to get a block of text and missions, they would be something you could actually have a "conversation" with, and have the dialogs you choose affect how the NPC reacts to you and how those choices could affect the progression of a story arc.

I went on too long but I am very excited to see how this develops.

I used to do a little, but the little wouldn't do it, so the little got more and more.
  9. All that info on Rularuu AVs that don't exist in the game was in the Prima Guide? The binder?

All those sound like bosses in a raid-type instance.
  10. Another reason for archery, accuracy.

Like all drawn weapons archery gets a small 5% acc buff.

Archery's inherant power is a base acc buff of 15% I believe.

Add another 20% acc or so from targeting drone.

You won't really need to slot acc enhancements.

Until they do, for people who get this bug (I don't but 3 of my SG-mates do on a regular basis), it's going to look like a bug and just what you described will happen. We worked it out on my team and we can usually figure out what is going on (through group chat communication), but it's very disconcerting to people who have seen the bug before. This bug needs to be squished.

First time I got smoked by a Night Widow I thought, "Oh crap it's this bug again." I was actually glad when I found out that it was smoke grenade.

If it works the same as the /dev SG then I'm assuming it doesn't stack with itself? Because I've been smoked more than once when I only saw one Night Widow, of course maybe I just didn't see the other one. I can see how it seems like the mobs are "cheating" but I don't see any reason why player powers and mob powers should be identical.

I do think it presents an challenge, but not as much as actually finding other players that can grasp the concept of aggro management and alpha strikes. Personally I think adding new challenges into the old high-damage/chain-mez dynamic that mobs have is a good thing. Mobs with Tp-Foe, that would be interesting.

My main beef with their smoke grenade is that it lasts to dang long. Okay, so I get smoked and I pop a yellow, we clear the mob and the yellow wears off then I have to wait around for SG to wear off before we can move on to the next group, and I'm waiting way to long. If anything I'd like to the duration on Night Widow's SG shortened.
  12. 4 of these channels serve basically the same purpose: to get badges. Whether its for hero or villain side, or monsters, tfs, or whatever all 4 are for the same thing, to get badges.

Since we can only be in 5 global channels at once that means that if someone wants to be in a 6th one they are going to drop out of one the badge channels, lowering the amount of resources availible to us on an already low population server.

Seems to me that the best thing to do would be to simply have one Protector badge channel and do away with all these others that divide up the badge hunting community.
  13. Did you know... Task Forces and trials originally didn't auto-exemplar you.

When the exemplar system was introduced in I2, even if you were ex'd down you couldn't run a TF or trial you had outleveled. Sometime later this was changed so you could run a TF or trial you had outleveled if someone ex'd you down into the level range for the TF you were trying to do.

Unfortunately, if you dropped your exemplar at any time you were automatically kicked from the TF. So if your exemplar quit or dc'd at anytime or if you dc'd at anytime you would be kicked from the TF. Imagine doing an eight-hour task force only to have your exemplar dc on the last mission resulting in you be kicked from the TF.

This resulted in many angry posts on the forums. They were usually responded to by people telling them that they shouldn't be trying that anyway.

Fortunatly, to the joy of players everywhere, this was eventually changed so characters would be auto-exemplared down when starting a TF and wouldn't be kicked if they disconnected.

Issue Three, _A Council of War_, contained a huge amount of new content. However, a bonus was snuck into the issue: A secret project instigated by NCSoft's Geko, aided and abetted by a Cryptic developer (Ravenstorm?). Even Jack Emmert, The Statesman himself, didn't know about it.

The Dance Party was added in Issue 2. I didn't know it was ever a secret, I just remember a DJ on Justice Radio annoucing they were having a party there shortly after I2 went to the test server. I didn't read the forums much back then. It recieved occasional graphic upgrades until it was abandoned when the new and improved Pocket D was introduced, a rather large piece of content for a mid-issue patch.

    [ QUOTE ]
Paragon Dance Party had no draw other than roleplay.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This only a suspicion but I would guess that they put in the PDP because internet radio stations would hold dance parties in Atlas Park which caused a lot of lag. A couple times the DJs on a particular station had a stated goal of "crashing Atlas Park" and tried to cram as many people as possible inside City Hall. I suspect that the PDP was added to lessen lag in AP.

There were entrances in Steel Canyon, Talos Island, and IP. The door to the dance party in Steel was originally near the Yellow Line but shortly moved to near Icon because people were using it as a shortcut. I remember a redname saying that the entrances were supposed to be moving around as part of the concept of the Dance Party but they were never moved again until it closed its doors when the new Pocket D opened for business.

  16. This is exactly the kind of well thought out and intelligent critique that leads to people being burned at the stake.
  17. So I went into my local Gamestop on Saturday and preordered COV. They have no pre-order boxes with the goodies yet, they say they will get them sometime in the next two weeks and that they will be first come first served, so why the hell did I pre-order?

If I don't get one from them then I guess I'll get my five bucks back and preorder from someone else, no biggie. In fact I think I'll do that right now.
