  1. Base Repricing
    1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?
Bigger base, basically. Dont need it really, but, just because.

    2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?
    Unfortunately, yes.

    3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?
1-2 days. Real ingame time of 6-10 hours.

    4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?
Positive- easier to start up a functional base.
Negative- mass exodus of people on /hide to edit base to recoup what theyve already spent.

    5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?
Short term- making myself crazy redoing the base.
Long term- not really a lot, since we have pretty much what we need already.

Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
    1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
Getting rid of the (free, non IO buying) base salvage will DRAMATICALLY lower the amount I have available if I decide to buy something for the base. I wont be able to "try something out" as freely. Maybe people will grab base storage to get that one thing they need for the IO they want to craft.

    2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
    Havent seen one yet.

    3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
Not rocket science, but Ill definitely have to spend more time to figure out what does what now.

    4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
People will wonder where ther base salvage is, and why it isnt dropping. Expect some petitions from those not in the know.

    5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
I expect a lot more people taking salvage from storage. Before it would be for base buffs, and thats it. Now its for anything craftable.

Additional Notes: If you thought before people were experiencing SG theft, its about to become a whole lot worse. I see a whole lot less salvage being used for bases. The new system, coupled with merits, and a general "I get more stuff if I solo" will now extend to SG bases as well. Instead of dropping off mostly useless salvage in a bin and forgetting about it, it will be sold or used for IOs.

With all the rickrolling going on in the boards, I decided I should try my hand at it, and of course I went for the biggest fish I could find. Since both devs and community reps have already fallen for it, I decided to go for the evilest guy around: Lord Recluse himself!

Here's a photo for proof of the rickrolling, and I even got a surveillance video (also at w00tstudios and a high-quality WMV download). Top that, noobs!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That, sir, is so full of win I haven't the words to properly express iit.
  4. I12:

    Villain Epics- win!
    Corruptor Storm Summoning- win!

    Co-op content- predictable.

    Hero-only 10-20 content...ummmm huh?
Psi Blast for Blasters....say what now?
Yet another revamp of a hero zone...what the...?

Well, I suppose the devs wanted to keep the ball rolling with the "Why dont villains have [insert something heroes have here]" threads.

Gave villains EATs, but revamped a hero zone, AND gave them exclusive content. So, while the "villains need EATs" thing is gone, the "villains need more zones/content" thing just got a shot of steroids.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
R U serious? The new 10-20 content is heroes only? It's not like heroes don't already have 10x as much content for lvls 10-20. Please tell me I am wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But they need MORE. Just because.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Let me sum it up this way:

I do not exploit TFs. What does this change do for me?

What it seems to do is bring risk. There's a risk that the person on the TF will not be there to contribute, but will continue to add to the TF's challenge.

I do not understand why, as someone who does not exploit TFs, this patch should bring me that increased risk. This is a negative change from my point of view.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Seconded.

In fact ran a SF just yesterday with 4 people, and one DC'd right before second-to-last mission.

Not spawning for 3 because of connection instability? That dont taste right, chef. I can see people getting a lot of anger directed toward them because all they did is....well they did nothing wrong- their connection is experiencing a hiccup, or are in a storm, or their kid hurt him/herself, etc.

The whole thing seems silly to me.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I'd bug the contacts talking to me like I was a villain if I was playing a hero, and I'd be fine with the rest. Turns out I play both red-side and blue-side. And if Issue 15 was called "Get Bent, Stupid Heroes, It's All About the Villainy", I'd go enjoy the content red-side without gnashing my teeth and tearing my hair out because I couldn't play through it with a hero.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Clearly you're in the minority, since many remember the crap storm that was I6-I7. Heroes got new zones (Its content, its just not content 'YOU' like) in the form of pvp zones, and all hell broke loose with the whining. But when anyone says anything about the reverse, there are a million "reasons" why it's good business.

    Vet rewards=content?
RWZ (complete with obvious Heroside slanted text)=content?
    Inventions (dubbed "optional")=content?

And as far as Hamidon, I believe the whole thing about that was that Heroes hit brawl, and got a Hami-O. People villainside wondered why they needed to complete a SF the devs themselves couldnt beat to achieve the same reward. SO it was given to villains...AFTER being changed. One could look at how many times the new hami has been run to see its appeal.

So...what heroes complained about was absolutely called for, when ones who want improvement redside are "whiners" or "conspiracy theorists." That makes no sense.

    Patron Powers- Fail.
    New Hamidon- Fail.
    Bugged RSF- fail.
    Fury in Pvp- fail.
    Stalkers in PVE- fail.

Thats just my personal top 5, in no particular order- and I dont even play stalkers.

(Hey, Look, Zyph, I found the correct thread!)

    QR:

It's a sad situation for those piecemeal players - new players coming in under the new "full game" bundle offer aren't going to buy into the illusion of two games - just like most other faction MMOs, they're going to see it as what it is; a 2 faction MMO. So the ranks of the piecemeal players, while they will inevitably grow because there are bound to be players who prefer one side to the other, they won't "swell" with the overall game pop, they're always going to be a fringe voice.

And there's usually nothing wrong with being a fringe voice, but in this case the fringe is centerred on a point of view that the devs don't share, namely, that of villain faction being "it's own game" and more deserving of singular attention in order to "catch up" with the other portion, rather than the whole product, with a dash of the strange yet tenacious idea that the devs "hate", or in any case are assigning a personal emotion, to some of their paying subscribers.

But the devs have moved away from that idea. They update the game as a whole and content becomes more and more focused on things shared by both sides - which piecemeal players see not as a boon to both but as a slight to one... becuase their insistance on two seperate games sees one of those games starting with more content and the other with less, rather than one product with "a lot".

The more time goes by, the more firmly "whole" the game becomes, but honestly the nail was put in the coffin with the bundled full-access release - at least in the former state of things a player clinging to only a portion of the game could say "I can't afford the rest".

Now it devolves to personal preference, and you can see a lot of that motivation in this thread, which had a large portion of its thesis devolve to "I don't like the way the RWZ storyline interacts with my RP decisions" - a valid point, but hardly a game-driving issue.

The more time passes, the harder it is going to be for piecemeal players to light a fire of concern under anyone's rear that the portion of the game they choose to limit themselves to is more deserving of new content or changes than the product as a whole.

Happily, inevitably, new content will inevitably fall to that portion of the game as they update the entire product, so in the process of pleasing the overall population they will unavoidably please at least some of those who play in certain areas - I am certain until we reach an undefinable par between the two concocted "sides" we'll see regular updates about how the devs "hate" some of the subscribers, but I don't think anyone takes that histrionic stuff seriously.

I do find this issue terribly interesting before. I've never encountered a similiar situation in another MMO, in which the product was complete only after the core design had been used as a living market test: it's allowed people to cling to one portion or the other while insisting it is its own distinct game unlike any other MMO I've seen. Eager to see how that ends up in watch-the-trainwreck sort of way.

As an afterthought: When it comes to piecemeal players, I think they represent an imprtant concern even if they are a fading breed - they represent a concern for maintaining strict flavor differences in factions, which is good in any game. There's a great urge to start off posts such as this with things like "Why do they HATE US!?!?" - silly in the extreme, naturally, and it sees people laugh off what might have at its core a valid point only because of a facile and simple minded/overdramatic summary - but then it;s followed by others shaking their heads and saying "See? We just can't get any dialogue started - we get heckled..."

No, it's not "you" that gets heckled, it's stuff like the OP - the idea that the devs hate a portion of paying customers is laughable. No use getting irate that no one will take it seriously.

However, when we see things like "I don't feel that the red side story lines cater enough to a villainous flavor" and "RWZ seems to cast a lot of the feel of being a villain aside entirely" - then *those* are some valid and good points. They need to be seen. Nothing wrong with giving a nod to evil.

I feel bad for piecemeal players being represented by stuff like the OP. There are valid flavor issues in both factions, they deserve to be heard, not buried under a pile of giggles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Makes probably the most sense in this entire thread.

Many people want redside improvements, but dont see it as "teh devz hayt us!!!11oneoneone"

But the "devs hate us" threads start up the jokes that are told a LOT in-game, such as "lol theyll give us new EATs, then make them better and put them into COH" (which is a direct reference to LRSF and STF), or "theyll nerf the bejeezus out of them, then tell us theyre more powerful, while people say heroside that we should shut up about it" (patron powers). That brings in the "villain side doesnt need anything, stop exaggerating" talk, and away it goes.

For what its worth, although I voice my opinion almost every time the issue arises, I dont see it as "devs hate us! why dont they give us stuff???!!!"

I dont want EITHER side left out, but things need to be fixed in COV, and most of the banter seems to be "fix blasters/more COH zones/tank powersets" etc., when the tech in the RSF is bugged- causing 50%+ restart rate, no Epic ATs, no new villain zones, no new TFs, patron powers both weak AND unrespeccable, etc. since I7.

So I'll always chime in when someone says "Nuh- uh, [one or more of the above] isnt true. waaaaa"

CoH has a bigger population, who whine more, and whine louder than the CoV community.

Sorry, but I keep looking for the 166-page thread full of CoH players whining about something, and I just can't find it. Could you provide a link? Thanks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Itll get fixed before it reaches 166 pages.

I7 whine threads about villain content? Exclusive hero content in I8.
  10. Jeez thanks, devs. Now I feel shafted.

I was expecting i11 to suck, but the weapons customization thing alone raised an eyebrow.

Looks like i may hafta rescind my snarky comments about Brutes and Tanks looking like Scrappers and Stalkers with dual blades.
  11. Hated pvp at first, until a few enthusiasts joined the SG.

Now I can get into it on occasion.

For one, theres jack to do in COV after you get a coupla 50s under your belt. Also, it's like any other part of the game- get on a team with people you have fun with, and it can be fun.

There are a few jerkwads who make it NOT fun, but then...you just stop.

The best (at least to me) is pvp against your friends.

anything else is gravy ( /cold, /sonic corrs; others like poison MM)

Just keep on perpetrating the ignorance.

If you REALLY think you NEED those things, I don't know what to tell you. You far from NEED a stoner anymore, in fact you never NEEDED a stoner. You sure don't NEED a thermal, never did. A case can be made for needing a /kin and a /rad, that's about it. And with this nerfage you might not even NEED them anymore nearly as much as you used to.

The only thing any of us NEED is OXYGEN!!! (and a couple of other things too)

So is there any kind of consensus on the impact of the level change? Can Team SubOptimal now skip the pets and missiles? Has anyone run it with Team Optimal? Protea, you have any opinions on it yet? I haven't gotten to run it with the new levels, but I'm hoping the challenge is still very much there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I saw a HUGE difference.

I actually was using my SS/INV to tank Manticore and Statesman, while the others were beating on Positron (target#3), and was successful at it. Normally that would have been a /stone Brute's job exclusively.

No nukes, 2 or 3 had Shivans. 3 team wipes if I remember correctly. But we rushed them (ran with 4 brutes). I think you could throw a Stalker in there. AS, run, hide, repeat. Seemed easier.
  15. Whats up with Ms Liberty rezzing in the final mission now?

Kinda threw us for a minute when we ran it last night.

Actually, what youve been saying is "Fix Brute fury, as long as Scrappers are still better in PvP."

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can go quote what i actually said, but why do that if noone can read properly anyways. It's really not my fault if so many of you have been getting destroyed by scrappers that your emotions cause you to misinterpret everything i say. I play a brute too, and have been playing villains for the last four months. No, claws don't make me cry, regardless of fury bugs. If claws or anything else considered gimp makes you cry, i don't think fury will help you. Let the games begin.

    [ QUOTE ]
Last time I checked.. Claws/* were a threat to:
    Dominators
    Stalkers
    Corruptors
    Non-BG'ed Masterminds
    Non-Stone/Invuln Brutes

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well then i guess we're not playing the same game. Like i've said, i play a corruptor, brute and stalker in pvp, soon i will play a dom. It makes people cry that i don't list all my characters, but what's the point since noone can read? If you think claws is uber because it's a scrapper set (one of the least popular) then the devs won't be able to help you at all. Claws might get dominators tops if they have no support at all. Masterminds without BG up? Why don't you just say claws is a threat to newbs and be done with it.

This isn't just my opinion, go post in the pvp boards, the stalker boards, the scrapper boards....anywhere you want, that claws is completely owning villains. See what happens. Then go to the defender boards and say the weakest set there is owning villains...see what happens. Go anywhere you want, pick the weakest powerset, and say it's owning villains or brutes because of a lack of fury.

The dev response? "Lol ADD" "Lol L2P"

    [ QUOTE ]
So..... you are upset that you aren't a major "OMGRUN" threat to 1 AT and some Brute powersets?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Like i said, i'm not the one getting ready to sign out when the weakest attack set on ANY AT laces their gloves up.Afterall, i was only saying that the fury count shoould be lowered for weaker powersets right?

If you're not an EA brute fighting a claws/SR scrapper with FA...then i'm sorry but learn to play, after learning to read. THEN argue.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    1. Trying to mask your "I dont want Brutes to work properly, because then I may actually have to play instead of exploit" with "I play a Brute! See! I'm one of you...honest!" Is silly at best. Very easily seen through.

    2. It's not that we can't read. It's that we see through your weak charade. But good luck in your "hahahaha thay cant genrate fry n r gmpt so i kin kill eezier 2!"-type method when it's fixed. Sorry you're against fairness, but then a lot of people in PvP are.

It's pretty bad that Brutes do as well as they do in PvP, even being broken. I understand that you are not excited about seeing them at full potential...you'll have to change your tactics, and no one likes that.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Yea, and you been complaining like a two year old, trying to tell us that brute's are fine.

No...wrong again. These posts have been so wrong lately that i'm wondering if you're trying to be funny.

Before i join in on the bad jokes, this is what i've been saying for the reading impaired.

"Fix brute fury, but don't punish powersets which are already gimped in the process"

Since this has come up so often, I guess I will leak a feature of Issue 8:

You can change your title at any of the following levels:

    15, 25, 35, and 45

At 50 you can change your title at any time.

You need to visit a trainer still to change your title and they "don't stack" (in other words, if you don't use your level 35 change, you don't have two changes when you hit level 45).

There is no Influence or Infamy cost associated with this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thats awesome!
    Thanks Positron!
  22. I agree that the Scirocco Brute powers are...not all that "epic."

I only use them because it's non-S/L damage for PvP, and ranged for runners.

Mu lightning is....decent. Id say the best of the set. About the same as Haymaker, when slotted....a bit weaker damage-wise, but with endurance drain.

I, too, was SO hoping for a heal, or a snipe, or especially Psi resistance.

Not really what Id consider "special" unlockable powers by any means.
  23. I played my SS/INV for the first time since the last patch and...

    I have it now too.

SB would (sometimes) initially give me 100% endurance, but endurance usage goes down more quickly than it would non-SB'd.

To top it off, it doesnt speed up my attack recharge.

Imagine being in the LRSF and having to use Jab and Punch because thats all you have endurance for. WHILE SPEED BOOSTED. And to speed up your attacks you have to pop Hasten. It was so bad OTHER people were asking me what was going on with me.

    Something kooky is going on.
