If you're on a team where you are consistently capped on DoTs, you're also on a team churning out tons of damage and likely mostly with radial paths. You're probably not going to be hitting the -res cap also (being radial), so that combined with the massive damage output of a big team makes it still probably the best choice.

Quote:It's a strange fix in that it increases the damage on an already damage heavy control set and doesn't seem to increase the control on a weak control control set. It just makes it better at a questionable niche.Based on the teaser from last week, I expected a little more in terms of powers updates than "...and Gravity Control, too." Granted, the change to Gravity Control does sound pretty nice. It doesn't really offer a big fix to the powers that are below the curve, but it makes it better at what it already does, so suppose that's good enough for me.

It's easy enough to get +1 doing TFs. I don't know why you would bother going into a trial without that.
Not only will you appease those few groups that want higher people, but will also remove a good deal of the frustration and cut down the number of times you need to run the grind. -
I have 2 DP characters, and I would gladly choose less "style" even if I didn't get any damage in return.

Quote:Who has asked you to? I mean, I could say "I like purple", but I assume I would be questioned about that statement given it's complete irrelevance. If your scrubs comment is not actually a reaction to something that someone has said, then why would you make it?*bzzzt!* WRONG AGAIN!
What I meant by that is that I don't want to wear clothes that I wear every day, here in the game.
Quote:Mnay here seem to want to dress in CoX, just like they do in real life, all modest and proper-like. Different strokes and all that.... but I don't want to. This game is an escape for me, I'd rather dress like Desdemona than I do in real life - however there seems to be a movement afoot to get the developers to stop making all those naughty, woman-exploiting bits like the Gunslinger stuff, and make it all boring and gender-neutral. This is what worries me. I hate the idea of that.
People want non-real life clothes, just a different set of non-real life clothes than you want. -
Really, even with the bonus pack, it barely measures up to the older weapon sets. It feels more like you are paying more (not counting the limited free offer) just to get up to normal instead of paying for something extra.

Quote:Hell, between damage procs in my debuffs and area controls, my elec/rad troller would be reduced to one attack, AM, and some leadership toggles. On our TPN trial I just ran, we had a couple Elec Melee characters mention, 'But my only single target attack is Charged Brawl!' It's a cute mechanic to have civies in the trial, but proves to be a bit tedious to avoid using any pets (all masterminds) and only use ST attacks.

Brought back people. Several new, good powersets and costume packs.

Quote:What can we do to add even more value to our VIP subscription?
The missions and slots can be purchased, and base rent is annoying, but could be coped with. Currently, the only reason to VIP is convenience and Incarnate.
To make more valuable
1. more content free to VIP. even if it can be purchased, make it so buying it is more expensive than subscribing
2. something exclusive. right now, incarnates are the only exclusive thing for being VIP.
3. make incarnates better (hopefully already being done with DA). No really, when the only exclusive part of VIP status is something people voluntarily avoid, then that's a problem. -
Quote:Ease of communication to anyone not being pedantic? The Coupon Collector's Problem can, and does, exist in the real world, it's rare, but it happens. But so what? It was always a theoretical problem anyway. Why are you so desperate to call this current issue "the Coupon Collector's Problem"? What do you gain from it?

Quote:But that's what you are saying. You're equating gender neutral clothes with scrubs. You're excluding the crap out of that middle. But when people complain about the lack of gender crossover on pieces, they aren't complaining about t-shirt #6, they are instead complaining about the interesting, unique pieces. Not sure where I said leather chaps and scrubs were "the same thing." I'd suggest not leaping quite so far ahead of what's actually being said; you have me making all these wild statements that never actually came out of my keyboard.
No one wants all the choices to be scrubs, so to bring that up at all is a strawman. But when we turn it around, we don't have to exaggerate at all. You are making the same kind of statements that I would make if I were trying to unfairly categorize your position. You're an example Poe's Law applied to this argument, in that you lump anything that's not lacy underthings together with scrubs. -

I wish they had designed them better. I don't like that if you want to be invisible, you shouldn't take the stealth pool, but if you want to attack faster you should. I don't like that if you want to be good at avoiding smashing/lethal damage, it pays to have a lot of single target melee attacks. I don't like that I can often gain more defense by taking a resist power and not using it than by taking a defense power.
The idea of the set bonuses allowing people to move outside of the normal limits of the ATs/powerset was good, but it was implemented poorly - with some power choices getting much better variety and power for no good reason. -
In what way is it tied to any villain? It has a name and an arc you have to run, but nothing about the powers ties you to any particular patron. If I can recolor energy and use it as a water power, I surely can take a shield with minimal graphical effects without intending my character to be associated with some villain I care nothing about.

Quote:Where on Earth are you getting "sexuality = prostitution" from that?
Well that's it for me folks. Have fun with this conversation. Once we get to the point where sexuality = prostitution I can't pretend to tread water.
"sexuality = prostitution" is different than "image intended to bring to mind someone who takes money for sex = prostitution". -

Quote:A) Everyone gets the same costume parts, which means no more skirts/frill/lace or girly stuff.
B) Everyone gets the same costume parts, and then women get girly stuff, meaning men just get less costume parts period.
C) Everyone gets the same costume parts including girly stuff, so men get corsets and high heels that are a huge waste of developer time for incredibly narrow appeal.
D) Everyone gets close to the same stuff, but sometimes women just get girly stuff instead.
There is a problem with B and C.
If you are correct in C and including male corsets is a "huge waste of time", then B is the correct answer.
I mean, if people actually do want fewer costume choices for males, then they should have fewer.
Now, I'm not completely convinced by this - I think in terms of Frankenfurter clones alone, you'd see more males in corsets than you will ever see pilgrim hats, but if we operate under the assumption that males don't want frilly parts (for male characters), then it only makes sense not to make those and to make the things people do want. -
There is a 4th option - "finds the consumables valuable and worthwhile". The packs are a great deal for those people. Now, if they are buying the lotto packs mainly for the purpose of getting the IOs, then we fall back to stupid.

In the thread about issue 21.5, Zwil said that they have to send the publishes off a week before they go out, so at best, the last week of "beta" is meaningless, whether we're talking about art or something more substantial.

Quote:I don't know what barbarian set you looked at, but the males got the loincloth and chest straps that the females did not get. And they got the non-ridiculous boots.Yeah I wouldn't call the female pieces TOO sexy or anything. I think they just feel scammed. I will say, I noticed a sort of pattern. Steampunk, males got most of the good stuff(minus the rockin' clock belt). Barbarian, males didn't get too much while females got a chain mail bikini and quite a good pit of corsets and skirts. Gunslinger, favoring the males I guess?

It looks like it was a response to both together. Adding more gimmicks for more players.

Quote:Doing that runs the risk of reducing replayability. They absolutely need to do this, otherwise teams will steamroll the "solo path" and it will be glacially slow for soloists to compensate.
You've done the game with Mario, what's the point of redoing the same content with Luigi if the only difference is the color of your hat.
The more focused the task is on player skill and a gimmick, the less different the experience is on different characters. I'd rather an experience that made my broadsword scrapper feel different than my katana scrapper than one that focused on jumping away from patches that made my tank and blaster play fundamentally the same. -
Quote:Two comments. In regards to the LoTG set, I only use the 4 pieces that enhances defense. I don't think any of my characters are using the +7.5% recharge piece, so it was not a real consideration for me. And the EndRed/Rechg piece is a complete waste. I thought of just buying the 4 defense ones separately, but they would have cost more than the whole set at the current discounted price.
1. The +7.5 recharge gives the same bonus to defense as the def/recharge. If put into a toggle power, there is no reason other than price to not use the +7.5
2. At the current price, you can buy any 4 of the set and still come out cheaper than buying the whole set, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say it would have cost more. -
Well, if you could plop down the cash and get all that at level 1, then you've still got the opportunity to play the game. And better, because you can play the game without a bunch of annoying parts.
