    Well, thanks dudes
late to the thread, but glad it got resolved. some things murder your performance, fiddlin' about sometimes helps, glad it did for you. if you have gameplay related stuff, toss it up here, we will be glad to help. just take a sec to calm down first, angry or threat posts can get you more noise than information. see ya ingame maybe.
  2. you know, it is funny. i recalled reading about it in some exercise magazine, apparently its a chemical in broccoli that is incredibly bitter and most people cant taste it, but due toa neutral mutation, a few people can and it makes it entirely inedible. this stinks because brocc is stupidly good for you especially men because it can help prevent prostate cancer. but it just becomes too hard to get past your mouth, even with cheese or other flavor cover-ups. as for the concept sounds great. the mutants who can taste this(as well as other foods, cabbage, kale, some beers) are called "supertasters" so there is an idea as well, it is more likely to affect women and people of asian or African descent. you can also be clever and link the number tas2r38 to them, that is the gene that determines bitter taste sensitivity, though it is not specifically the mutation for what i was mentioning.

an added mutation that a lot of us have is the ability to digest lactose, so there ya go, new emotes... "eating a wedge of cheese" and "drinking milk"

If we wanted to as a society we could set up a program to deliberately breed for redheads. Pretty much every trait started as a mutation but once it becomes present in a decent percentage of the population it can't really be considered a mutation anymore (otherwise we're all mutants for having spines).
eh that may be the general definition. the definiton i was always taught was a variation in the gentic makeup of an offspring. and that was the point that i was getting at, that mutation, while it is a term bandied about in comics as something giving insane powers like telekinesis or weather control, it is really something that is generally very mundane, like the two aforementioned cases of hair or taste sensitivity. not ginger baiting, merely giving the slightly more scientific perspective that mutations are actually generally boring or annoying. I will admit that while i was double checking, i didnt find your definition anywhere, as most mutation definitions i found dealt specifically with the offspring and its "parents" and how it was defined by either environmental or genetic error alterations to have traits not predicted by its genetic fore bearers.
  4. keep in mind you are talking to a guy who'se main is a dragon, with beast 6 as a head, and his sub-main villain has the wolf face..some of us like our fangface :P, but i get your drift, and would have no issue with stuff for that as well.. I know we are on the same page about the fox/bushy styled tail though, right? my only other big take is i want fins, and i know from the other thread that david at least acknowledged my request, even if there was no specific commitment, so i'm hoping for the best.
  5. It is kind of a broad idea. redheads and people who taste the extra flavor in broccoli are mutants, and in comics pretty much anything can be a mutant, from the normal looking jean gray to the less than normal looking nightcrawler. In this case it really seems to be coming down to giving stuff to characters who have a more monsterous theme, something that players like myself have been asking for for a while. If it has fish fins and fox tails, i will be really happy. but really the packs are all about single takes on broad themes, not all natural heroes are practitioners of asian martial arts, but the natural pack focused on that(to my distinct pleasure), so really it is as much an attempt to make a focused fix of a thematic hole as anything. and we need some new monster parts.
  6. yeah, when time permits. usually i view ae as an arcade and it fits my characters better to be out pounding real villains, but i have seen some good things.
  7. that would be everybody's favorite fashion-challenged dragon. rian frostdrake himself, my ma/sr/dark scrapper.
  8. 1. power/animation customization-sweet Guinea pig of Winnipeg i love this, I had been lowballing it to avoid disappointment, figuring that animation replacement for melee attacks (Ranged are a bit less animation intensive) would be too time consuming. babs caught me flat-footed on this, and i was thrilled. spine/thorn customization was nice too, since my main vill is a plant /thorn, and the crystal thorns look amazing. since unarmed martial arts are my main powerset in pretty much any game i play, this was huge, now of courrse, the only bad thing..I WANT MORE!!!!

    2. ssk- if you pug, this is a must.

    3. patrol exp. I tend not to have time to play during the week, and i have a number of alts. as a result, i generally have a full level of turbo-exp every time i log in, its very nice.

    4. weapon customization. Have you gotten the feeling that i like customization? yeah, back in the day i staunchly avoided weapon based powersets since the weapons looked ugly(especially legacy broadsword..yikes was that monstrosity ugly), this fixed that and made me want to play a number of weapon users.

    5. veats- like most i was suspicious about being one of the mooks that I had mowed down boatloads of in this game, but the powersets border on unfair they are so good. crabs are visually unique with the claws, have strong aoe potential, and can deliver ranged pain while still having good armor and mez protection. widows i like even more because of their blend of a finesse based agile character and a ranged psychic damage dealer. and once you start getting a number of them all running their "leadership" auras, veats an break the game, and it is fun.
  9. happy birthday..now animate out the candles.

I would certainly get behind that. most longbow and ppd stuff is already pretty easy to emulate, but the hardsuits have a unique look that would be well complimented by some power armor styled powers.

  15. just for the larger perspective subby, do you follow the financial results of other nc soft and non ncsoft games, maybe lorto, eq2, even co if you can find it. basically anything over a few months old but wow, free realms and eve? are other ones showing robustness now, or is the economic funtime perhaps affecting us all. I recall on kotaku they quoted an activision exec as saying that even wow is no longer growing... it isnt dying by any means, but even it is showing slowdown.could you whip us up some comparison?

There is *nothing* to compare to MA/SR at release. If release MA/SR was a difficulty level, it would award a MasterOf badge.

Here's how you can come close to simulating MA/SR at release today:

    1. Replace Storm Kick with Flurry (Storm Kick used to do a lot less damage with an animation time comparable to flurry)
    2. Replace CAK with Boxing (Boxing actually does *more* damage today than CAK did back then)
    3. Replace Eagle's Claw with Sands of Mu (Eagle's Claw used to do Crane Kick damage with Sands of Mu timing)
    4. Take only the SR toggles, no passives
    5. Take no power pools
    6. Slot no inventions
    7. Figure out a way to fight even minions, +1 Lts, and +2 Bosses all at once.
    8. Whenever a foe casts a pet, turret, rain, or patch, if you don't have at least two purples just use Self Destruct immediately
(SR at release: 5% passives, 10% toggles, vs even con minions: 50%; Lts: 62.5%; Bosses: 75%; AVs: 90%; turrets/pets: 105% base tohit)

That would probably be in the general ballpark.

Oh yeah, and Quickness used to cost endurance (0.01 eps or something like that). Rather unique for a passive.
my namesake was a ma/sr from june 22, 04..and i had flurry because i wanted superspeed. you can see why i can be snarky when people complain about sets becoming "unplayable", im really not a mean guy, i just have a different perspective
  18. on the upside, this indicates that gr's presales are going pretty well, dosen't it? and yes, i have one as well, but she is wearing white and red, consciously trying to make her look more businesslike, of course she is going rogue to hero as soon as gr hits, it fits her backstory(she is also my first concept transfer from co, just as i have rian and a space robot 5 there, now im bringing some of my chars from there to be re imagined here)

as for my characters, i dont have many with specific ethnicities that i do anything with, because i always worry about blundering across the invisible but perilous line between characterization and stereotype. but weatherbug, my humorous mad scientist hero (ice/storm controller) is samoan. but its a minor plot point, and barely known since he is encased entirely in power armor with his various weather control devices

my night widow, terra romanov is black, and of russian ethnicity, as she is partially based on the story of paul robeson.her parents left the us in the 60s for russia, where they thought the racism would be less pervasive. Russia didnt quite work out, and post the fall of the soviet union, the fled to the rogue islands to escape creditors that they could no longer pay in the shaky post communist russia.

lady bizzybee is african american,.nothing really done with it though

seraph blue is from mexico, and before being killed to silence her protests against a crey factory that was destroying several local communities, she was a civil rights lawyer.

atomic angel is indian, from a wealthier family. nothing really is done with it though.

rian frostdrake is german, but his ethnicity is kind of shakey, because he is fairly nomadic and when he was born in the the black forest area, it wasnt a unified country yet.(he was born around 1790 or so).

marquis renard is of french descent, but he is from louisiana.

    glesengel is german/chinese

Cammie yin is japanese, of the somewhat cliched ninja family backgorund..hey they aint all gems, kids she is part chameleon yokai, thats worth something, right?

most of my other characters are monsters, robots, pre-human divinities or space aliens, so they lack actual nationalities, or are generic Americans or rogue islanders.
now that i look back, i guess i do have a few, but as i said, they generally are more basic story hooks rather than being major story points. Rian has hopped countries from armenian to tibetian to german, basically i needed a remote location for the dragons to be and ethnic tension to kill off rians family, beyond that its kind of arbitrary.

most of my villains are low on the scale, violet is more of a robin hood style urban defender who finances that protection by stealing from the wealthy. dire worg is a punisher styled ex hero driven by guilt over a botched rescue and looking to keep punishing villians by measures that even lognbow would be uncomfortable with. my only villain who actually wants to cuse trouble and is selfishly motivated is my crab soldier, who is basically paris hilton with a copy of soldier of fortune magazine, advanced athletic and technical skills and a love for political upheval.

It's not. It's not when the difference between New and Old is so staggering. Play the Peregrine Island Praetorian arcs, for example. Then play the new I17 missions.
Then you look me in the optic and tell me those don't need revamping.

So, that was part of the 'Im not shutting up' part
they do, but on a thread that is supposed to be at least somewhat about putting on a united front and enticing other peopel tocome, particularly after they riterated that they wont be doing a new pass on old content int he near future, maybe it could be held for a more constructive thread and not trawled out as a blunt weapon to swat the developers with yet again so soon after they already commented on it. keep in mind you are drawing this observation from the same pool of people on kotaku that seem to beleive that co is the graphic update of coh, and that we need to raise the level cap. so maybe these arent the best voices to go to for a rational outlook. I want old content revamped too, particularly the shard but can we keep it focused for the intent of the thread before we kick and scream for candy at the check out line when we have already been told no? no one is asking to shut up(well, not before the diversion) but maybe placing the thought in an appropriate thread, can we get that maybe?
