Quote:tell her i agree with your interpretation...but dont tell her where i am /zoidberg wo-wo-woMy partner is so convinced that it's pronounced "Thu-lu" that she corrects me every time I intimate the existence of a C.
Still, I consider it "Kah-thu-lu".
It should be noted that, unless I am mistaken, Lovecraft intended it to be unpronounceable, further underlining how "Beyond Humanity" the Mythos was.me too, that would have been hysterical.

eh, from what i read from various beta testers of coh pre launch, it was supposed to be basically your "class" . magic artifact origin characters could take certain powers that others couldnt, same with mutant, same with others. really with io's origin is largely a rp thing,as post 35 at the latest its best to ditch the so's entirely and just load up on nonspecific (and non silly, how many vambraces can you put on with two arms?) enhances . i like writing semi-coherent bios, so they matter to me, but i also try, falteringly at times, to not go insane about it. we have 3 natural epic at's. commandos with cool backpacks or a hive mind, psychic ninjas and space tapeworms, that on its own should tell you how much variety there is.
-
maybe, but i tend to take those not exactly literally, otherwise my robot tanker would have had around 18 hearts before io's. thats excessive, even for valentines day.
-
heh that used to be in my sig, but yeah, issue 1 coh was good for its time, but lets say the game has improved significantly. heck, look at how elemental armors didnt even stack, if you wanted stat protection, you compromised your defense/res to everything else.

funny thing is, from what i have read on the subject, techtv basically absorbed g4 , then became g4 because tech paul allen wanted out of the biz and g4 employees were paid less, so they got to screw-over the employees.

Natural isn't about martial arts, guns and training anymore?
It's about the fury of nature?natural is one of the larger categories and strangely the one that seems to get the most women's undergarments firmly in a non-euclidian configurations referred to colloquially as a "bunch". It CAN be martial artists, it can be atheletes, it can be soldiers, special forces soldiers, urban vigilantes or some sort of military group, it can be dragons, harpies, aliens or demons, so long as they arent exhibiting powers outside of their normal range of abilities, it can be dick tracy if you are able to reconcile him taking a full on barrage of malta zeus titan rockets and walking out of the fight with no major injuries, and for a lot of people, it is probably freaking batman. but no matter what the devs decide, there will be a single constant, it wont fit someone and will fit someone else, so bask in the love of the people it fits(like the previously quite popular plant dominators) and when something that makes you happy comes out, they can reciprocate your open minded well wishes. someone may even bring marshmallows. and someone will make a thread complaining that they aren't chocolate.

when crossover titles go bad.

you know, f2p doesnt bother me, really. lets be hoenst, f2p, as i have seen it handled, is really jsut a demo with microtransactions. the subscribers still carry on, a little better even because usually bonuses are given to them as added incentive and generally the free version is jsut unsatisfying enough to nudge the freebies to sub for real. so long as the bulk month discounts are maintained, if the decision to go f2p is judged prudent, i'd be ok. It used to be going f2p was a mark of failure, these days is basically just the new business model. we really have been running on a model from the original big 3d mmo, things change. if free players bug you, edit your tab, poof, no more posts by them.

Quote:Heh, true, though back when i worked grocery, i knew a lot of older guys who retired and were so full of energy that they couldn't sit still. setting your own time is nice, , but i notice most retired people i knew couldn't not work. in fact i pass an ex mail-man every day to the car, he is always up pornographically early.*sips coffee*
Ah...retirement...life is...acceptable.
*snickers at rian*
plus, those who know me know that the second overtime is whispered about, ill be doing 6 day weeks again -
our local cable dropped them a while ago, it wasnt looking good even then. outside of x-play and for a while ninja warriors, there wasn't anything worthwhile there though, and even x-play was sporadic towards the end.

well, still liking the new job..but i have to get up at 4:45 am to go to work. i am not a morning person. plus side, off friday through sunday, every week.
-
started a new job today, back in my field after a depressing lay-off. and following a crippling hard drive crash, almost have the computer re-set up.

rian: ok, care to explain the strategy of running me into the group of insanly dangerous enemies who can hit through my dodging..really, any explaination at all?
seraph blue(emp/lit/lit defender)..why do i keep outrunning the guy who is able to take all the hits into the enemies. -
Darn good CD, listen to it often.
(sad part is, im so old, i have the cassette) -
Quote:and i once saw a tiny psychic on the run from the cops.I once heard of psychic contortionist who foresaw their own end.
you know what he was.
I was just surprised they have such short life spans, apparently they only live from 6months to 5 years for larger ones..and mating is usually what leads to them dying. males shortly afterward and females after the eggs hatch. octopi are actually pretty interesting. -
you know, not to sound like "the old guy" but i remember old arcade games, simple things, but they ate your whole weeks lunch money (the real reason obesity wasnt bad when i was a kid, arcades made sure we never ate lunch) sometimes a simple concept well executed can be more fun than a multi layered fuss that you have to grok before you can even attempt. seasonal content is, by nature, going to be kind of shallow, it just isnt permanent enough to make too integral to a specific character, but nailing simple fun can often work just as well.

MWa ha ha ha ha
no, i dont. in fact my main, rian is over 6 years old and has probably had his costume changed in some form over a hundred times. some times a new costume hits, some times i just change my mind, some times i decide to go just a shade lighter or darker, but no, i live in icon/facemaker. usually if i haven't changed a character's look, its because i havent thought enough about that character. -
eh, it happens, wish ya well. 6 years is a heck of a long time, aint it?
-
Quote:on the one i finished with over a hundred hours, this was not the case at all. the lead went from using a fan to claws to his bare fists, only one female lead healed that well and even she was better with a sword or spear. the other was better at buffing and having pairs of wolves rip things up, and the final one was the party tanker.Trust me, there were a few exceptions, but you didn't miss much.
My version of explaining JRPGs: The main character has a sword, Sleep spells never work, the lead female is always a healer with a staff, and 16 year old kids are better at combat than even the most battle hardened space-marine.
The End.
in fact, i can name several off the top of my head where none of those were true. in one older one, the princess is the team buzzsaw and her priest companion is the main healer, along with a fortune teller. in another the main is a spear user bandit presently, and the "main female" went from being a black mage to bard. the whiny emo kid is usually the healer. or shall i get into the one where i really am me, and the kid that myself and an alien prefessor with a trans-species dog kidnapped primarily uses his fists, unless he is a chef or fisherman, and the ambiguously evil group is a j-pop band with a monkey.
oh and maybe the caffeine is dulling my senses, but i have no idea whatsoever what marcian is going for here, could you dumb it down for the caffeine addled? -
Quote:I'm with ya, i want to see what the new animations are, i feel a need for more customization.I don't know about all y'all, but I'm really excited for I19 to hit the live servers. My lowbie characters, from tankers to my first-ever Kheld, are practically salivating at the thought of inherent fitness.
My higher-level characters can't wait for the extra challenges and rewards from Alpha Slot/incarnate stuff.
And a shameless plug for GR: probably the best money I've yet spent on CoH/V - and I've been playing since 2007! Loving every feature so far, and i19 seems to add so many more Q0L (merged monorails/ferries stands at the top) features... yay!
Finishing with a question (which I hope I can ask): so when is it coming? Halloween? US Election Day? Day between? Or... Soon™? -
Quote:oh forgot one topic that i just thought of now, issue 17 had a distinction of more than "just tails". tails were seperated from belts to their own area. this had two effects.1. tails could now be used with belts, for some, that added a dimension to the customization.2. tails now could be used with robes, togas and other previously unavailable combinations of pieces. This was a big thing for players of monstrous characters.Ok, I just remembered it was during year 2008, without thinking about the actual date not to mention to look it up, that was my bad. I had completely forgotten animated tails, again that was my bad. I'm a little bit skeptic about issue 16, then again I play VEATs.
Issue 17, had the most recent costume pieces I had, but again, paid update, not included withint monthly subscription. Of course I look forward to next issue hoping it can remedy.
But yeah, my bad for forgetting some of the costume pieces. I however still feel that majority of the costume sets and good looking pieces have been with paid expansions.

Quote:right, thats what i was going with too, a natural character is one who'se powers are primarily unaugmented by magic/tech, mutation or science. thats why in the other thread i mentioned dragons, werewolves or aliens. all natural. Thanks for the exact quote, Hallowed. That supports my belief more, I think, and I appreciate your taking the time to look it up. Rock on.
thats one reason it is so tough to get a fix on, we had complaints with the martial arts pack too, that not all natural heroes are martial artists(some people said ninja, i gritted my teeth because the swords and hair styles were Chinese, the helmets chinese/korean action film influenced and the robes tenuous link to ninja was by way of mortal kombat). but yeah, its martial artists, soldiers, savants, super-spies, athletes, street tough heroes, gumshoes, batman, and all manner of fantastic creatures that are empowered by their natural racial characteristics. hitting any one of those marks will leave the rest unfulfilled, so perhaps its best to just keep an open mind and realize its a broad target to hit and hope next time its your turn. -
Quote:december 3 2008 was issue 13's release date, not quite two years. and this is one of those touchy points, because costumes auras, effects, weapons and power/animation customizations are all things that have come, over time, to be part of total customization, each element could be considered an option, and in that case issue 16 carried a motherload of new options, and issue 19 is bringing more, and lets not forget that issue 17 did finally bring animated tails and issue 18 was basically the chair that a paid expansion sat on. So, it becomes a very strained argument when those things are excluded from free things that we have gotten over the years. we have gotten numerous customization options in addition to just costume pieces, but the field has expanded so much that we really cant say just "costume pieces" any more, it really is a bigger concept now.True. However i13 was approximately 3 years ago and I believe by 2005 you refer to CoV which was acceptable "costume pieces and other perks" that I was willing to pay for. Technically in year 2004 they had collectors edition which had the DVD-cape exclusive, but calling it a booster is probably stretching a little bit. Again, nothing against people who wish to purchase boosters, but I don't believe anyone had that assumption about my posts to begin with.

Quote:if you are curious, there is an all things art:lost pieces thread dedicated to just costume pieces that were once selectable and now aren't..malaise pants were one of my faves, supposedly released as an accident, they vanished somewhat quickly but i still have a fellow with them on.
I'm curious about costume addition history now, how often we've been getting them in regular issues compared to boosters, how many are locked behind specific content goals or badges or whatever, how many are tied to seasonal events, how many pieces have been removed from the game entirely or swapped out for "updated" models... hmm. But that would be a matter for another thread. -
i'd be happy if we could remove fur from the bolero, it would make passable fish fins if i could ditch the fur.
