there is a reality to new power choices, given the current mechanics which the game has run with for 6 years now, how do you suddenly add a significant number of new abilities that arent broken, are desireabe, and arent so situational that people just ignore them for the established powers. oh and since we are talking pools, you also cant really have them outshining existing prims and secondaries for fear of marginalizing players. One reason i am so big on cosmetic customization options is that they make the pools feel new while not adding issues that lead to significant time and ill will generated by "nerfs" needed whenever new powers are added to the game. Im not a game developer, nor do i have any inside knowledge here, but the absolute last thing i think we will be seeing is a significant new number of power pools.

so hey, the dvd is out, i got it. really good movie. I loved it, can totally see people over the age of the references having no @#$%ing clue what is going on though, luckily i pretty much just fit in the bracket to get all of it. hopefully dvd will cult it.

you know, i know you probably dont mean to come across as it, but you do pretty much coem across as complaining. lets be frank, you aren't really that interested in what incarnates are aimed at, no big, it happens, some people like pvp, some arent insane about costumes, it happens. one or so posts about it, just as a representation is cool, but getting involved in a back and forth that seems largely to be baiting people who are interested in it, it seems to come across as being bitter. might not be your intention, but maybe continuing the back and forth isnt going to be really productive, maybe the next issue will be your thing fingers crossed. xO_Ox

you should see dr horrible''s sing along blog, its very funny and ingraned in the nerdosphere enough that people here would get the semi-naughty joke i made.

true, particularly since it is a non-comic role, so what i like the most about him wouldnt really be on display, but honestly i rarely watch movies, but a little sci-fi junk-food i thought might have been made enjoyable with basically turk and the bartender from haven. though honestly, i have had about as much luck with directors i have liked as actors. everyone has an off day.

the term "god" has become kind of degraded in popular culture to mean some fairly unimpressive powers, so i kind of avoid using that in relation to incarnates (leaving out its emotionally charged nature as well) my conception of the incarnate power goes mroe along with the imvestment of incredible primal power, kind of like the silver surfer's power cosmic, that is how i see incarnates, the "power cosmic", it seems to work out in general comic book power level, and it avoids any unpleasent side digressions. For good examples of characters making guns do nutty stuff, various anime (trigun, outlaw star and hellsing come directly to mind) may help you concieve a cosmicly powered gunman, also the matrix and equilibrium.
(it also resolves any conflicts because a number of my characters are directly in the employ of specific divine entities). -
bad part is, i was thinking of checking this out just because "turk" from scrubs was in it.

one poster put it pretty well, anyone can pick up a wrench, not everyone can use it to smash recluse's head in, there is always a kind of meta-super aspect to our characters, really being able to kick or punch hard enough to smash a submarine, or to affect seemingly incorporeal entities is just as silly from the outside(more so, really), but for characters with the appended "super" power, its possible. there are examples from film, books and games where characters can do entirely unreal things with swords and firearms, just go with that.

well, everyone doesnt have everything, thats a misleading bit of hyperbole that distracts from the fact that these things were options added in as a response to player feedback. but yeah, while i never really advocated it and feel the "need for" stamina thing is largely overblown by people, i dont think it harms the game at all. a oft quoted maxim on these boards is from the incredibles, "when everyone is super, then nobody will be" and its worth noting that the person saying it was bat-nuts crazy, it was bad reasoning there and it is here, usually in the instances that it is referenced as well. increasing viable build alternatives for players based directly on feedback is what good companies do.

ya know, i was going to come in and do a joe q joke..but after seeing the stuff here already, honestly, i got nothin', its all been covered, i gotta get in these threads earlier.

Yes. Well. Even if I do the arc to unlock the slot (which doesn't sound like a fun arc for me), I might expect to put something in the slot... in a few years of my normal play.
Yay for inherent Fitness!)

actually, if i recall, the mi-go were described as looking like winged horeshoe crabs. but yeah, the coralax and particularly their goddess merluna seemed very lovecraftian.
actually one people tend to not think about is "a shadow out of time" where te time and space traversing entities that inhabit the yithian "rugose cones" of prehistoric earth seemed a lot like kheldians. they are formless space beings that take over the bodies of host entities (like the creatures that were the novas and dwarves) kelds are a bit better about asking first. also, the sleeper of dark astoria reminded me of "the shunned house" -
he is english. while gun violence is rare, knife violence is pretty bad in the uk. so no surprise that people are stepping up against them.

Quote:eh, its "endgame", some people absolutely lose their pants about that, personally not a huge fan of it, but just like pvp and bases and hardcore badging, i can understand people having fun in different ways, so more fun for more is great. will admit that among the lore posts, it seems like they did the best thing to make me happy and making it very linked to story, so i will feel like im doing something, rather than just getting a weird boost, ill know when i know, until then, i dunno.I guess this is the thing I'm least excited for in i19 and beyond. I just don't get it. We can already IO our toons out to godly proportions, and now with the new Alignment Merit system, it's really not difficult to do... and most of the game isn't very difficult to begin with. I've yet to run into anything in this game that I can't complete, most of it in a duo, and TFs with a competent team - not even an expert team, just a competent one. I just don't get the point of making our characters godly powerful... in order to do what? And are the upcoming TFs really going to be of a carefully balanced difficulty where the extra regen/damage boost is going to be the make or break point? I think it's a lot more likely that they'll be more difficult and any good team will be able to do them fine, because I can't see a way to predicate the difficulty on a boost like that - especially when we're choosing which boost we want. Are controllers who don't take the mez boost going to be unable to complete them?
I mean, yay powers, everyone loves their toon to be awesome, but it seems like it's just there to BE powerful. -
Quote:mmos are always bad games, they cant be good game-play wise, they can, however, use their continually updating assets to keep expanding. but no, if i want a game, i go to nintendo, capcom, arc system works, or team ninja(though curiously, NOT the collaboration betwixt nin and team ninja, shudder) but no, mmos are not good games, trying to make them good games is like trying to make a 2d fighter have a deep and engrossing story. feel free to disagree, but i have played most of the mmos on the market, and latency, stiff power selections and overly abstract mathmatical mechanics preclude good gameplay for me. the only mmo to come close died a bit ago.As an aside to this question, many folks posting here put this very high. Not surprising given the self-selection inherent in board posting. But a question for you all:
Many of you have said that pool customization is extremely important, for some of you, the most important thing they can do. What about the game? What is the use of having pretty and matching blasts if you're dumped into a game that's doesn't get improvements because the coders are spending time trying to get pool customization right and the content designers can't get time on their schedule?
I guess for me, the looks is nice, but when it's all said and done, this is a game. The gameplay has to take precedence or why not just create a standalone "hero-creator" with a few offline missions and sell it for $50 bucks.
My two inf.
my 2 infamy.
EDIT: sega and platinum too. they make good complex gameplay games too. -
10. given the thread made by castle last month, this really isnt a surprise, hopefully they have the resources to make a serious dent in the suggestions that were made. all of them would be full on impossible, but there were options that popped up a lot, so hopefully those are feasible.

hubris being a fatal character flaw of the powerful is a trope older than dirt, maybe tyrant's head is just too big, or maybe he believes his own hype as the "great protector" and has grown paranoid about the primals. In a way, he brings about the thing he fears by his and his underling's actions.

75 months here. part of it is inertia, quitting after this long would feel abrupt, at this point i'm seeing it through till the end.
part of it is friends, a good friend plays it, so does a distant friend, soon will a family member, so part of it is the social connections
finally, is the coh secret weapon, i made rian frostdrake, he is my favorite comic book character, while some issues may follow other character when i alt, rian exists outside of the game as well, when im bored at work and am running a story in my head, he is as present as batman or superman, more-so because of how the character exists kind of wrapped around my conceptions of a hero. but the only place i can read his comics is here. the costume creator is not to be underestimated, no other game did that, and i have played a lot. not even his crossover character in a different comic banner. and that one can even run on all fours. -

Will some of you nice ladies do humanity's future a huge service by doing these robonerds a service? They are seriously starting to freak me out.anyhow, while memories of roujin z are amusing me in this context, japan does have a aging population and a low birth rate(i offered to help) many senior homes in the us even are struggling to find qualified care that will work at cost efficient wages, while in general japan is one of the forefront countries in robotics the added pressure of the population issue would make this a useful test market for the advancing technology.
