Quote:Thank you for all the input and responses ^_^ I have made a list thus far. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding it.
Please keep this to character related ie: Costume parts and weapons-(aesthtics only).
Feasible (Depending):
- Cheongsam (Would not be full but split)
- whee. thank you thank you thank you
-
zyph, can you just make a thread? we do not need this here.

you know, just because people keep bringing this up, how many times have villians in their missions, as agents of arachnos, attacked the united states? the original tutorial begins with arachnos killing prison guards and releasing wanted criminals en masse(and yes, im aware nerva would have been set up before the prison break, but it seems their mo to make direct military raids against the united states whenever it can). It seems more like an Afghanistan type setting where arachnos made the first move, or series of moves as it were and longbow retaliated. do we have a canon example of the first aggression?

ok, very tired, so no pics now, will update tomorrow, likely cannibalizing my post form dave's thread.
My first request, and has been since issue 4 is a cheongsam.
im not asking for a full length one, since past the knee gets problematic, but all i really need is a tight top with the cross over buttons, and i can use the slit skirt for the bottom part. and possibly a top and bottom pattern to make a convincing one, usual themes are floral thems, dragons, and stylized phoenixes. if i could get this type of robe for males, it would also be great, but i suspect clipping
next request is a kimono top, a'la miho from sin city. , if you are feeling brave, a knee length one would be even better.
a miko type top and pants would be very nice as well.
next request may or may not be coming in the post apocolyptic set, but hockey/motocross armor would work well for a street level vigilante
and finally kendo armor
next up, id have to supprt calls for sashes for males, is there a way we could get them for males and females fitting on robes? that would be really good for kung fu themed characters. a more muscular skin for women(barbarian is a start, but the abs, shoulders and back should be more defined, and i'd also prefer more definition in the triceps.) and possibly adding new "robotic" arms that could either be more defined muscular arms, monstrous arms, plant arms, spikey arms, and maybe even transparent ghost arms or slime arms.
next, id like fish fins for forearms, feet and ears, as well as a lionfish like fin as a back detail and a finned tail. someone also mentione upthread shell tops and aquatic themed armor, id be totally up dor that. we did get fins with the halloween pack, but the arm and leg fins were attached to boots and gloves, if we allowed them to be used with bare feet/arms, id be very happy and it would get us part of the way right off.
another request id like is a robe top like the tae kwon do uniform tunic type top
and finally, I'd really love it if we could have the ability to use chest symbols on the back slot. It would be great for both martial artists and urban vigilante types, and likely many others. thanks for your time, and have a good one.
and finally, as many have alluded to, there was at one time talk of a reptilian costume pack for characters, following the mostly mammillian pack of the first beast pack, possibly even with dinosaurs, That would make this dragon character player very happy, particularly if, like the beast pack, we would have additional options of horns, fins, triceratops type frills and even feathers as possible head decorations, so if that stuff is still an option, im in full support of it and would be so financially as well.
ok, thats all i can remember for now, will probably have more later. -
hate to say bill, but i think a good portion of your list should be in the suggestion forum. love the quiz part. and the aoe one, and especially the origin story one.
as for me, people complain about city of manga...they haven't seen city of manga till i destory paragon city, move everything to the new hub of superheroic activity, neo-tokyo(or some thing that wont get me sued by an existing anime) and so on from there. -
Then how did they survive the decision to allow alternate ways of getting atios? they already altered the design and the system did not die, if the system would fall apart if they began offering the exclusive costume set after a 3 month period of exclusivity, then the system must be horribly conceived.
-
No, they are "cheating" by taking a specific thing that previously have been purchaseable at a set price and gating it behind a mechanism that forces them to pay several times more for the thing they want by randomly awarding other things that may or may not have value to the purchaser. For a not insubstantial number of players like myself, we want costume sets, and we have paid the price the market dictated several times now without complain..ok, its the internet, so there was tons of complaint and irrational hyperbole and threatened canceled accounts by people who have been "canceling their accounts" for years now, but still we paid for the goods. we now see goods that may be of use to us, but its locked behind a mechanism that is several times more costly. and that strikes us as arbitrarily punitive. I dont want atios, nor catylists, nor merits, nor a vanity pet, i just want the damn costume, why am i spending upwards of 30 bucks for it?
-
Quote:that was never my argument(nor, if i recall, true gents or snow globe's), in fact i had originally complained that the superpack concept had already been shown to be a solid financial earner in multiple eastern mmos but it also served to permanently lock away things of value from players who did not gamble. We knew it would make money, but in doing so it would lead to a loss for players who just want the costume set. this premise has not only not been negated but it has been given more weight because now we dont even talk about alternate means of buying the costumes, its just assumed that if its in the super-pack, its locked away behind the gamble. The original argument was that the superpack design was so problematic they would likely fail. Now the argument is going to be that since they are successful, its safe to tamper with their design?
I have always felt a little jealous about logical arguments that work no matter how many of their premises are negated, because I could never construct them myself.
For those of us who just want the costume set and nothing but the costume set, something that in most other instances was 400 points, having one arbitrarily be held away from players in a system where one would possible have to pay out around 6 times that to get it was something a number of us did not want.
A hope was floated by zwill that alternate means to get thoes costume sets would be available in the future, since he was around, I figured i'd ask him about it. -
Great, cool, they are a resounding success, so it shouldn't hurt now to have a alternate way to get the costumes outside of them, since they clearly dont need the costumes pieces held hostage for their success. anything to report there zwill?

I play them a lot actually, think i have 6 overall, including 2 that are higher tier incarnates. great fun in a team. their damage is still kind of slow going solo, but the biggest disincentive solo for me is how they can be chain mezzed. my sub main, seraph blue is a emp/lit defender who actually does some acceptable damage, but fighting the rikti is a cast iron pain in the butt because while the auras may make her survivability better, a mentalist can either force her to make half her insp tray eggs or get chain held, which is a dull way to go.
noting the rest of the thread, i really only have 2 corrupters, no reason, if anything its the names i guess, corrupter still sounds nasty, but really it just never comes up. also, most of my defenders are pre freedom, so they were alreadye stablished before the universal at thing. and when i was playing villains, it was more likely a Dom or a brute anyhow. -
First thing to pop out at me was that he had a petty theft on his record, apparently they really were the droids they were looking for.
-
i rotate alts enough to always have some patrol exp on hand, so exp is rarely an issue. going up 10ish levels in a day would seem silly to me anyhow, i try to get to know the character, not blow through their time playing, too much like work.

Quote:Because someone did earn those rewards, the money has already changed hands and the ability to grandfather in families of players who have been here a long time add an additional incentive for players who have a long history with the game to draw in new blood that shares some close enough personal bond with a long term player.Since simply unlocking access to Tier 9 VIP rewards costs up to $445. dollars per account, why on earth would the company allow players to exploit the reward tree by allowing them to give away tokens to accounts that aren't spending money on the game?
Sure your fiance may be a devoted subscriber but the majority of people that would take advantage of this aren't.
Good luck with this idea tho. Maybe the devs can think of a way to keep it from being abused.
Essentially, it another perk for people who have been here forever, i would suspect that game companies would like those sort of players feeling incentivised since they have transcended the veteran rewards system.. -
Quote:i can live with that, it aint great, but it makes sense. i realize its kind of my thing, and its not as big for the general population, but I will keep banging the gong.I PMed the thread to a Dev who was awesome enough to reply. The way I took the reply was that there are so many new powers in development right now that it is not possible. However a time will come where it is. So, I think it will happen, it is just a matter of time and money like all things.
That is why I want to see them in the market. Because I know if we are willing to pay for them, they will be more willing to develop them. -
I agree, my little brother got his own account, but even though he was sampling the game back 7 years ago, his account is new, if i could get him set up, that would be cool. Actually in a general sense, this would be great for long time players for their family/kids/spouses.

Quote:br is not much aoe either, plus, min maxers are a subset of the larger player base, while something may no appeal to them, street fighting was a heavily requested powerset for some time. then again, small numbers yelling loudly dont lead up to sales..im still upset about how many superpacks sold, but ill take that grumble elsewhere, I apparently lost that fight.Lack of a good radius on its AOE did not help its sales. You know by now that AOE attacks are king for min/maxers in game.
oh, and zyph, since the pummit is not over, i really hope you are right and someone presses about pool customization and additional animation customization, its a ball that has been dropped recently and could use some more gas. -
I heard about coh from the gamestop manager at out local one(back when it was an electronics boutique) At the time i had been primarily a console gamer, but had started getting into computers after getting one that could run modern games and having really gotten into morrowind, but i was really a big fan of phantasy star online from the dreamcast, and had been looking for a similarly fun pick up and play experience without all the long term guild/eternal grind nonsense that i had heard of from games like everquest and galaxies.
I had gotten really BAD experience with Final fantasy XI so i was pretty anti mmo at that point. I specifically did not want to play coh, despite the instance of the manager, but after reading the...subjectively accurate prima guide and finding out the game had a martial arts and katana powerset, and also after reading a thread on another forum about how good the costume creator was, I gave it a shot. Never really cared about western comics much, and even my manga selection was limited, so the superheor thing was not my thing, though I did like the all purpose nature of the genre, swords and magic coexisted with sci-fi and energy blasts. Plus, my best friend and his wife were major comics fans, so i figured that since he was an on and off galaxies player(i had tried it too, it was ok, but not a major connection) they might give it a go. so, got it 7 and 10/12ths years a go and there i was. -
My personal thought on longbow is that when cov was coming together, they initially wanted them to be a good guy organization, but they fell prey to a trope that was common around then (when gta and god of war were a lot more popular) they wanted to make player villains, but they werent going to commit fully to the player character being fully evil and doing outright "wrong" stuff that might turn off players who didnt want to be outright horrible, so they muddled it up and went with a cynical setting where the bad-guys are kind of justified because the heroes are just as corrupt as the villains. Its a story style that i despise, but it was huge at the time.
The result is that longbow is something i kind of gloss over, they are a boring organization, their costumes are boring spandex silliness, their powers are uninteresting and dont change much from 1-50, and they fall on the lame crutch of being the bad good guys. -
beast head 6 for rian. I was kind of bodging dragon-ish looking heads and then boom, great looking dragon face right there. wouldnt say no to horns though. the martial arts robes from issue 4 helped as well, as did finally being able to use them with tails in issue 17.
also, wings for my various angleic characters., particularly the armored valkyrie wings. didnt mind the winter naughty/nice halos either. -
Quote:Funny thing is i absolutly love giant robo, but the robots were the weakest part, the bat-nuts insane dub of the original, plus the over the top powers of both big fire and the experts of justice were great, but the robot fights were generally one sided and decided by who had the coolest gimmick, without even a show punch-up. Will have to check this out some day, as it probably had more even fights.
Johnny Sakko and his Flying Robot - Old yes, circa 1968. And yes it is the original live action Giant Robo. Like Gigantor, a kid controlled nuclear robot of mass destruction. You can watch it on Hulu.
that said, favorite giant robot show is robotech, i loved the organic designs of the invid from the third series.
megas xlr is a very funny send up of the giant robot genre and is reliably funny.
ols, gotta go with voltron, both series and even the cross over series. the ilions and vehicles were cool, but some of the robeast designs were amazing.
oh and i,too loved orbots. -
i do remember way way back she had written a short story for the reader submissions part of the coh comics. just text, no illustration, but still cool.
