most likely, almost nothing at all, if not absolutely nothing.

Quote:you know, I was kind of hoping in the back of my head the same thing. Don't think it will happen though. Guess it cant hurt to hope though :P Maybe the independance port remake will add a littel tokyo/hong kong area, would kind of make sense since it would be a place new arrivals would have likely lived first, and likely immigrants would live together in an area where their language and specific foods and cultural needs would be concentrated. lord knows i have been nagging for one long enough. no need for it to be feudal japan, there is plenty of grist in the manga/anime mill for modern and ultratech settings to work with for a naturalistic fit for a zone or part of a zone. any feudal elements with yaokai and onmyoji could easily be tied to either occultists in the modern setting, like the tsoo with their ancestor spirits, or a graveyard with guardian spirits coming over.Maybe this mean's we'll get a Japanese/East Asian Zone...
Yeah...prolly not.
that said, when the american company of our competitors online was sold from a French company to a Chinese one, there was no new content added to reflect the change, and i doubt we will see any in the shift in stock leverage to another Korean company with its new hq in tokyo. I'm just really adding more nudging for more eastern content in the game. -
there really isnt much to it, I went through the start of the contacts chain, but too many repeating hunt missions just kind of dragged me down.

Fine and dandy, but then its a misunderstanding on the op's part. it says we would get universal enhancement slots, which would fit the way the general incarnate system works if you count things like your judgement power or your interface power as an enhancement, which they generally are. but not every enhancement is a level shift. so there were 10 planned enhancements that would make power progress similar to gaining a level, but not all of them would add a full shift. easy mistake to make due to the nuance of the statement, but not a promise of level shifts, just new powers that we slot like enhancements.

For rian and sera(and most of my angelic characters), demons, any kind of supernatural evils are kind of their things to stomp. rian also likes fighting giant monsters and evil divines. Rian loved ripping into mot, and attacks rularru every time he doesnt have to do one of those hideous shard tfs to get at him.
violet tendencies likes fighting crey because im cliche' and made them her origin, though she also has a thing for devouring earth(in a way she is becoming a sort of hamidon herself, and is taking down the flawed version)
and dire worg..anything evil, but especially 5th column, hes hoping to still meet up with his dear old dad and pound him into a coma.
most others are general interest characters , frostkat beats up on winter lord as often as she can since he was the one who was her inadvertent origin, and due to her religious background, really doesn't like 5th column. and pax cant wait to take a swing at the battalion, since they may have destroyed his homeworld. -
This is something i would go for as well, i have an existing aquatic themed character and part of her outfits is a one piece swimsuit, but i also like using the bioluminescent skin, so an over set for both top and bottom would be welcomed.

Usually i run new content with my main, rian frostdrake solo, then i spend the rest of my solo time running my lowbies. trials, tfs and the like i generally dont actively seek out (generally) but will keep the main liberty channels on and if something looks fun i'll go for it, this also applies to events (like invasions and gm fights). I also have some chars that are thematically linked to my friend and his wife's characters, so we run them together when schedules allow. this actually means i tend not to rerun a lot of content due to restricted play time and time investment on the group activities, but it also forestalls burnout. It also means that I still havent hit 50 with many of my characters with the power-sets we got in going rogue, despite liking them, and titan weaps, beam rifle, stj, staff and beasts? fugeddabout it, still haven't conceptualized a beast character even. and my highest level in the freedom bracket powers is my stj resistance crusader..at level 18

ice/ice is my only high level tank and a 3 shifted incarnate for me, but i really like ice as a general theme for powers.
Ice was pretty bad for damage back in the day when freezing aura was a no damage sleep power. these days its not quite as bad, and for my tanking abilities, i rather like stacking slows like crazy on my enemies, its just another layer of mitigation. That said, i think a lot of elemental melee sets got overlooked because they are visually dull and lack significant customization options, and many still think of ice melee as as bad as it used to be.
as for a concept, how about a character empowered my a comet? theya re defined by rocky/metallic surfaces and ice. that or some sort of nature shaman from a cold region. -
well, for the outset, its not entirley surprising, i have been on a few of them and kind of completed the trial largely by happy accident(thought the group i accepted was a farm, and turnes out they were a great group and we stomped it). I think at first people are going to want the added power and for the knowledge to get more widely speead to the usual leaders. maybe not next weekend(i suspect that next weekend might be quiet), but shortly thereafter a lot of people will already have their slots and will be able to carry the trial better to completion for those who dont yet. I do agree that the ixp distribution is a bit off, almost all of it is in the first phase, subsequent ones should be more level. and this trial could also be leveled off.

westly had his ego project a while ago, it probably still is around.

Quote:do you have any real data to back this claim up, or just anecdotes? the "We are losing tons of players over this change" is the last refuge of a failed argument, and bring data or try to be convincing otherwise. otherwise the pvp changes of issue 13 killed this game absolutely dead years ago by numerous reports. and i can strangely still log in to something, even get on a successful magi on liberty not more than 10 mins ago. and my build is the comical opposite of min maxed. And those becoming VIPs are less than the amount leaving by all indications. People that have done trials in the past on my global lists (friends, global channels) aren't coming back and the new people aren't filling the vacancies. The new subscribers might slow the amount of loss, but the loss is getting bigger all the time.

well, standard answer, i am, in fact, unlike some of your other threads, my pb is my newest incarnate. so i really played one.
that said, they started out pretty badly if you primarily solo or play in small 3 person teams. they have gotten better, and these days with light form they certainly have taken a jump in surviveability, but the lack of mez protection outside of dwarf form does kind of slow them down for me. they got better, a lot better, in the past few changes, and i like the forms because they are something unique to the AT, but playing so many melee ats and blaster and dominator inherents have spoiled me to the stuns in the game, they get really prevalent in the end game, and being chain held to death by an enemy that I should have stomped into the pavement can get really frustrating, and they are a risk from pretty much every spawn in the late game. dwarf shift can be kind of slow when i have a group already gnawing on my mezzed butt. -

actually, she misheard that suggestion,. thought it was parabola and figured she didnt quite have the curves for it.

Quote:Eh, some of us like being weird. helps us stand out, ya know?Guys wearing princess hats is always going to be weird - to everyoneQuote:Bah. I want that available on male and huge, too. My 7' TW brute wants to wear it, and really, who's going to tell him he can't wear it? (Note, my TW character is actually a short bunny-eared woman, but the point still stands).
right there with ya. even went pink for it with trollkin queen. and 7 foot, bah, she is a solid 8 footer.

No loss really, he was an obnoxious little twerp who typified the transition from leo and patrick's fun, quirky, but informative screen savers to the painful live action 4chan that was aots. g4 burned to the ground a long time, and the only negative is he didn't stay there with the rest of the worthless debris.

Quote:dunno, the game was a critical flop and was generally only remarkable for its red cartiridge. beyond that it was a final fight clone of the like that was glutting the market at the time. While the article may have some good points. The whole thing falls apart and loses it's credibility when it disses the Maximum Carnage series.
I own two full sets of Maximum Carnage (not TPB mind you). The series was so popular it even spawned it's own video game adaptation released for the then popular SEGA Genesis and Super Nintendo.
I... *ahem* sorry, my nerdrage kicked in and I felt I needed to defend something I loved from my childhood... I think I had and was trying to make a point, but then my ADD kicked in...
*shrug*
I think I'll go read Maximum Carnage now.

Its like a dream episode of "who'se line is it anyway"
could have had tara used more though. -
if we wanna go injoke we could have "intonation of lord recluse" as that was how they did the flavor text in the old cov game book "lord recluse intones"

Quote:As cool as a TV spot would be, at this point in the life of the game I think it would be more for us, the players, than garnering a bump of new and returning players. It would be something we can point to and proudly tell your uninterested friends that's the game I play.
This is my take whenever i see people going on about marketing. the mmo market is currently defined by one aberration that had a number of non replicable factors that caused it to be a insane outlier and a large number of companies trying to be it with graphics and engines that reflect the evolution of games from the several years that have intervened since launch.
coh has neither that series of fortunate coincidences that the giant has nor the benefit of being more recent and looking prettier than the latecomers. we are an old game, period, that age has lead to depth, no doubt, and that advantage is evident if you visit the forums of the competing superhero mmos and you see their players grumbling for content that we have in spades, but there are soem things being nearly a decade old in the aggressively evolving tech industry simply cant mask, and coh would look horrid in a commercial versus tera or gw2. we can get people here and there, but coh's main strength has been that it has a hardcore group of fans who stay with it for an unusually long time. as much was said by its former lead developer.
so trying to add flashy advertizements to an 8 year old game in a genre that has a spotty track record in video games really seems like a cause that is, if not lost, at least prohibitive, and word of mouth from the hardest core who can share exactly why coh is a game worth playing for nearly a decade. -
Quote:The rikti invasion was a point of several arcs from the start of the game untill issue 10. lets be fair about things here. furthermore, mot is a singular entity with limited influence, not an entire other dimension. Some people liked praetoria and some dont and little rational discussion is going to change minds because its a question of preferences, but i have to strongly disagree with you that the build up for praetoria was an error. its not for everyone and nothing will be, but it was a workable vehicle to get a lot of mechanics into the game and worked well for what it was, and it sure as heck was better than the old praetoria stuff which was basically got to a bunch of context free recycled environments and fight one off mook squads. they are mid level zones, people tend to move on. you cant exactly call up a pug in coratoa or striga any time you want either. they served their purpose as well as any new zone does, if you have an event, you can often get people, I have been on a few seed hunts on liberty, far from the most populous server, and really if the communtiy finds things to do they stick around, if not, they go through, just like striga, just like nerva.Rikti storyline got intro'd in a grand, epic fashion and then wrapped up in the same issue. Same with Mot and Dark Astoria. Both amazing issues that few complain about. This should've happened with the Praetorian war.

you know, a while a go, i was discussing an "epic form" for khelds That would fuse the dwarf and void form together and make a kheldian "dragon" and it could use upgraded versions of the dwarf and nova powers. the general form would be bipedal but hunched, like an ember demon but with the general body shape of a dwarf, but instead of the dwarf head, it would have the nova's head, massive tentacles coming from its back like wings and the nova tail trailing behind. my only conceptual problem is wether to make it fly as a default, like the nova, or stand on ground. maybe let the human form flight power work too to cover that?
