or we could get the job done right and sent in a platoon of plant dominators. a mass seeds of confusion would turn all of their fancy tech and mental tricks on one another, and if nothing else, we could all throw carrion creepers and lag them all out of the game.

looks like safety pins to me. as or the decreased dexterity of the claw hands, lets just say i have wondered how certain hygenic necessities were handled by the guys with two claw hands, maybe "swipers" has a origin that we dont want to know about
as for makeup, a lot of the npc's need to be put on serious eyeshadow detox. there is looking goth, and there is becoming visually indistinguishable from a panda, mind the gap please! also saw some skull girlfriends who had apparently applied makeup with a classic sized broadsword, the dark knight joker was more understated. -
glad you are enjoying yourself, the only server we share is protector, but i havent been there for a while, but if you are ever on liberty and need a hand, the global is the same as the forum handle, gimmie a buzz.

well, eis, honestly, its easy to say that all options should remain viable, but in practice it never works out that way, and i doubt you could show me a single mmo(or fighting game, or fps, im going to exclude rts' because i simply have too small a frame of reference for it.) where they achieved it. before you know who, the last open system that i played was star wars galaxies, and there were huge problems with the system there as well.also, its rare that players choices cant mitigate the situations where their powers are less effective and wind up not worrying about situational powers. Honestly, i like open powers in theory, and am somewhat enjoying them in practice, but there is a way that power sets can make a natural synergy with each other that makes characters seem to flow on a better power progression curve.
much like the instanced vurses outdoor argument, the benefit of seeing the alternate choices taken is that we can see both the good and bad of if those choices had been taken. and if you have the time/budget, you can experience both wolds for their respective good points. -
likely because that wouldnt be proliferation so much as a new powerset, but electricity control, as well as dark control, dark domination and dark assault would be fun. also maybe a few more blaster secondaries. again, the secondaries and assaults are kind of odd ducks because they arent just direct ports from other sets, they would take parts of sets but would have to work with other powers that they arent paired with on other powersets.

to be fair, the drop rates actually were bugged, acc's "nerf" is entirely one of perception, unless im forgetting a bug some time ago. but I agree that it may well become a similar post issue meme if a player just has an unlucky night.

84.83 percent, man there were a lot of typos in that one.

another request for more flavor text, this event has major promise, but id like to know what these pillars are, and why im fighting them, and what the heck the monster is.
beyond that i noticed no issues with badge3s, temps, or general gameplay. -
nothing official, but like bill, my guess is that there wasn't any money in them. most of the content was an odd mix, athletics shoes and skateboard themed texting devices..to an mmo crowd? and i really haven't seen an mmo make money from ads, but hey at least they tried something new.

well, we know nothing at all yet, so speculative threads really dont help much other than giving a place for people with positive and negative outlooks to fight. lets check back in a few weeks, apparently hero-con is when the details get filled in.

while i got archmage on one hero, i got it through illusionist farming that made me hate the universe, the fact that its easier now is a cause for joy, both conceptually and realistically.

while ithe major farming is mostly gone now, ae is a tool where players can make their own missions and put them up for people to play. people found ways to manipulate the spawns to get significantly higher rewards for significantly lower risks, people hitting 50 from 1 in a day was not unheard of, methods were put in place to prevent the most egregious abuses. A side effect was that there were people with multiple 50s who didnt know what enhancements were. Ae still is a good place to find some clever player-made stories and i suggest you give it a shot if you havent yet.

well, im 34 but feel far older. just 6 years till my relationship with my doctor becomes far less cordial and far more penitential. :P

Quote:ok as others said, sorry for some people's suspicion, but some people have been being pretty damn annoying lately, the short answer is, its September and 2 new mmos have come out, so there has been some shrink due to school and new toys, that said, you are on freedom, does freedom have a teaming channel? i lack knowledge about that server so im useless on specifics/ go to their server subforum and see what the deal is, they may have active play groups you can find that will help you out. I had the same issue in liberty till i joined lbx(and now lb) that helped me get a lot of tf's and teams. we simply dont know anything about population levels, as of comicon, the question was directly asked of a coh dev and higher sub numbers were confirmed, but they dont put out sub numbers so its all guesswork. I know from personal experience, i have noticed old global buddies popping back in, and some old names showing up on the forums, take from that what you wish.Doom? No way am I saying Doom for COH! I love the game and it has been the only MMO I have stuck with over the years!
May I also mention that I purchased Champions on the Amazon discount to try it out and I have to say that it is no where close to COH and I don't see it evolving to a COH in any way. Champions has it's merits but it feels more like a console game with MMO thrown in and not a true MMO plus it lacks the social tools. I am not saying Champions won't mature, I am just saying it will never mature in to a COH. I see Champions as Cryptics attempt at COH sequel after selling it off and as we see in the movies the squeal is never as good...lol....
So how does this soloing thing work? I know, I know read the patch notes but I'm just not as patient plus like I said the beauty it the community has always been ready and willing!
ok this link takes you to the freedom channel list.http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=186115
let us know if those help. -
i dont recall you as a negative poster, its probably because you like to argue with people who have ideas of debatable quality and they go for the cheap hit afterward. and yes, i have gotten a neg and pos rep on the same post too, just means that the topic has active supporters and detractors i'm guessing.

I second this wish, the winter event especially gets dull with people running it all gray.

Quote:Funny thing was, for my response i was considering work "normal play" generally everyone does that. Hence when i get opportunities to get overtime and get a higher reward scale for the work, thats when i was considering it farming. Doesnt apply to salaried people here, but bugger em, they make more anyhowI work a job to eat and pay bills and many of you do too.
I think that's farming =D
Every day I go to my "AE building" for 8 hours, I don't fight bosses but just talk to them.
after 2 weeks of this work-farming, I get infam...sorry, money.
This is used for enhancements such as power, my Internet proc (chance for hold)
and hp/end insps (food) as well as acc insps (coffee). Also work related, but since i got a time sensitive bit of work done faster than expected, i got a literal farming reward, my boss grows plums, so i got 3 really nice red plums as a thank you.

I have to admit, it caught me offguard as well, well played. as per the thread, well stated. I too think that the interaction with the developers is one of the primary reasons i feel as happy with the game as i do. Everything isn't perfect but its better than i have seen anywhere else, and the fact that the devs feel comfortable coming in and just goofing around with the community is also nice. oh and i have to do it since im a dork. where ? where?
-
well, i am a good gardener, and i sign up for overtime whenever i can, which, since it is increased rewards for additiona repeating of behavior that usually nets me (annoyingly inadequate) rewards.

Quote:ok here we go again, you expected multiple distinct time travel zones in a single issue, do you know any mmo that has had the manpower to pull off that outside of a paid expansion?
My hopes for Ouroboros was that we might travel to different times, like ancient Rome, WW2 or outer space. Nope, we got a rehash of old content.
The Rikti War Zone is just another hazard zone. Not much happening there.
The invasions amount to little more than Rikti coming for the sole purpose of getting kicked around. What are they trying to accomplish? How about some objectives? Something they're trying to DO when they invade?
I already mentioned the fires. There's just so many more things that they could have happening. I mean, ask yourself, what would Superman do? Would he go to the only fireman in the city and get a backpack to spritz water uselessly on a fire? No, he'd grab a water tower off a nearby building and pour water on the fire, or blow it out with his breath. He might fly in and rescue the kids trapped in their closet. He might hold the building up, while Batman gets the kids. It's just one more thing with gobs of potential that the devs failed to realize, even a little, for whatever reason.
next we get the rwz, do other hazard zones have a level 50 raid for people to run? do we have a lot of other co-op zones? for its time, rwz was quite impressive, plus the issue moved the story foreward and introduced more costume bits than had been introduced in a single issue in a long time. perhaps you could do more than dismiss it offhand as just another hazard zone.
as for the invasions, of what happens if there arent enough people in the zone and the rikti win? is the zone taken out of commission? massive damage? will this be problematic for quests, or worse yet, task forces going on. how do you balance the feeling of risk vurses the feeling of frustration. answer all these and then you can get into squeezing that into the development budget.
finally, interesting that you picked superman, there are a lot of players who dont play anything like him, so we are programming in all these things for every powerset, right? and where do these water towers come from, we revamping the zone AND adding a carrying mechanic(can one be added without introducing a ton of bugs?)? Maybe all these potential things you mention just wouldnt work in the game. how many powersets can blow out fire? how many can hold up the building? just super strength, or more? what if no superstrengthers are in the zone? where the heck did batman come from, is this team only now? that will bug the soloists. and how do we keep it from being grief-able. I mean again, there are ideas that sound good when kept entirely general, but lets lay down the specifics, because you are committing resources for your game that arent making the 5 distinct time travel zones, or the animations that that one guy and a few of his friends on the forum want NOW. You simply have to be somewhat realistic and not expect something to be able to be done fast, bug free and to your exact specs because you read it in a comic book.
I am somewhat blessed in this regard, because i often will have an AMAZING idea, and just before i show my brilliance to the world on the suggestions forum, i call a friend of mine who also plays coh, and understands programming and game design a good bit better than i. so i ask him to destroy my idea, and darned if he usually doesn't...mercilessly... perhaps you need a friend like this, to reality check your ideas a bit, because they have a frustrating tendencies to not work out as well as they seem in your head. -
i dunno, i dont see anything in his post that is true. There is a difference between a half hearted implementation and working within the limitations of the game engine. I'd love to pull people out of a burning building but how would you accomplish the game of it, we cant carry things, so it would have to be a hostage lead out, what rewards are for it, if some, can it be farmed for disproportionate rewards, if none, why would people play it? these are not trivial questions.
as for street sweeping being improved, on im all ears for a meaningful improvement, but again we have to go throught he questions of how to make it challenging and rewarding, as has bubbled up from the champions thread, open world stuff tends to lead to camping, objective stealing and overall nasty behavior, how do you correct that? The quality of radio missions is subjective, i tend to find them fun and succinct. they wont win any emmys for writing but they provide fast non-zone hopping entertainment when grouped with friends without a lot of filler. You have the option of storyline content, or you have the option of doing radios, both are optional.
The problem is that you keep mentioning these great suggestions that the devs are ignoring, I have to ask, where are these great ideas. There are good ideas on the suggestion forums, there are impractical ideas, and there are ideas that look great, but once you try to break them, they tned to fall apart and would either be farmed to oblivion or ignored. Heres the thing, maybe the ideas really were good, but there are precious few people on here who really know how to make or balance a video game, our ideas have to be filtered through the filter of reality, and thats where a lot of great sounding ideas die on the vine. Without you gettign more specific and showing soem of these great undiscovered, i really have no way of knowing, link me some if you are so kind. also, this nicely dovetails into your comments about the superstrength animations and, here again,we are dealing with subjective valuations, the animations werent bad, but im not seeing how they are greatly superior, and looking at how fast they flow, im thinking timing may be an issue, but it really becomes a question of, are you pointing out flaws in the dev's "half-hearted" implementations, or just upset they didnt do things your way? Id have gone for a far more chinese martial arts look for new ma animations, but they didnt ask me, while this may be a personal disappointment, i cant say it was a worse decision, just a different valuation, and the good news is, now with the tech in place, perhaps later they will add the animations that i want.
as for the pool powers, we have had it confirmed quite early that the realistic time frame for getting the issue out the door precluded working on the pools and the extra stuff, but they are being worked on. harping on about it now sounds just a bit childish. the work takes time, so much work can be done in so much time, and we got the primaries done in time, the rest has been confirmed as coming, so i really am drawing a blank at what your complaint is, unless it is that you wanted them to delay the issue a few months for the pools to get done, is that your complaint?
So as for your disappointment, well, i dunno, it really seems that some of your expectations are a little unreasonable, perhaps if you toned down your expectations to be in line with what game companies actually are able to put out in their issues, not just this one, you might be less likely to be disappointed. I could hold out hope that the next legend of zelda game will have 50 unique dungeons, all with amazingly innovative gameplay hooks, multiple sword styles with easy, intuitive input systems, and npc's that use an advanced A.I. to understand and interact with me using a voice input system, but i bet id be disappointed once the game actually comes out.
