wish i could find it on youtube, but in the final chapter of giant robo, they have an archer shoot a volley of arrows that looks like it inspired our rain of arrows move.

Everyone at PS and NCS is involved in this product to make money, no?

Why should a CoH subscriber routinely receive email fliers from a rival company for a game many of us hate, while literally months will pass with not so much as a crumb of a tidbit to maintain interest in this mmo.

Bad marketing for anything, allowed to continue for years, is bad management, excuses aside.
dude, i'm a lifetimer on that other game and i don't get any email from them, what gives? i feel so unloved

oh, no question there, I didnt say they had an ironclad reason to think it, just that it does seem to suggest that the tiers will be going at different times, does it not. now the idea that you must have been in the loyalty program, or any real precondition for entry has been set in stone is completely off the mark, but i could understand where some would get the impression, even if that impression was mistaken. as i said, I am hoping that the waves are primarily functional in nature, where the more organized bug-busters get in first, because they will likely be the most efficient resources to hunt for game affecting bugs and balance issues. and those of us who are simply too lazy to go through the trouble of unsubscribing during slow bits get in later.

and i sadly didnt watch the herocon video, vids load very slowly on my connection, and most of the vids i have seen were kind of long, so sadly there just wasn't a reasonable block of time i could devote to watching all the herocon vids.

ya know man, yesterday i saw a ds game which was basically a pedometer and a walking chart that went for 50 bucks, first party nintendo titles are only 35 bucks...so dont underestimate how many people may actually buy this in reality, i understand the purpose of the preorder goodies, maybe sto went a bit overboard with theirs, but having goodies purchaseable in a pack wouldn't bug me that much.

Although if the decision were up to me, I'd say the self righteous whining here would preclude those people from beta access.
To be fair, the loyalty program announcement did suggest that there were three tiers for access, first for 60+ers, second for loyalty, and third for preorders. now the definition of tiers is nebulous, but usually tiers are used to denote different levels of quality. This is, as i said, not guaranteed, but it would be a bit like if a collecters edition was undifferentiated from a regular edition, not a lie, but an unusual usage of the word with unfortunate connotations.

i will say that this thread does have some epic dramaticism for something that could easily be resolved by customer service reps, and the fact that the original poster hasn't posted here recently may indicate that situations on the ground may no longer be as they were, and now we are just playing kickball with semantics. I dont care when i get in, though i should "officially" be in the first tier, whatever a tier turns out to be, but i'd prefer testers with proven records precede me, because that's what the beta is about, a test, not a freebee look.

at times, but they have quite famously accepted gift baskets in the past, and at the very least, babs and "some other animator" deserve baskets this year.

I've been playing this game for years, and bought up the "pay for six months and get a month free" deal last holiday season. I even bought another month after that to keep playing through August. But then I had to let my account lapse for a few weeks because I was a little short on funds at the beginning of the school year.

At the end of those few weeks? I'm back for another "six months for seven" period. But I'm still screwed out of the loyalty program because of some arbitrary setting they chose.

It doesn't bother me that much, as I did get a deal on those "pay six for seven" things, and I get veteran rewards, etc. But it does seem silly that I was active for pretty much the whole year around and during this loyalty program, and I don't get anything out of it. And I highly doubt I'm the only one that's getting the short end with this.
well, any system is going to have some scheduling conflicts. the timing was kind of blatant, the first superhero mmo came out in competition, and they were hedgeing their bets to make sure that they retained subscribers through the usual length of time people try new mmos, around 2-3 months(not sure if this stat still stands, warhammer and conan pancaked fast, aion seems to be keeping momentum though and champs, no numbers released but the pop seems steady when i play). as you said, your funds were tight, it happens, particularly now, and is perfectly understandable, but if they picked any timeframe that could happen, and this timeframe was seemingly picked for a very specific reason. there is no reason to be ticked with them, life simply happened, and no matter when they had tried it, life could have happened with the same discourtesy, its not their fault.

besides, noting your join date, do you have 60 months yet? that was the first tier, so the whole loyalty thing is superfluous to them other than the badge, which looks cool but is purely cosmetic.
  12. read the thread title, instantly thought"just name the damn Empress already bastion"
  13. just try the ticket and see, was it a sizeable lapse or a few minutes? they are human and understand that stuff happens, you didnt intend to drop the game. I certainly wouldn't guarantee anything, but can it really hurt?

edit, in rereading im pretty sure that wouldnt be held against you, i did a similar thing with my credit card(expiration date was coming up), and got my badge, so just call customer support and give it a shot, it sounds like you would be in the clear.

i have seen people use these proxies for ip blocked asian mmos. do your research, there have been cases of some pretty massive security breeches caused by them.

very good time actually, I know that i'm having a tough time getting caught up myself, and with the winter event coming soon...i will have stuff to do, i'd just wish that maybe a few more crumbs had shaken out since october.

nothing yet, we know closed beta is to start first quarter of 10, so its likely coming up. as a 66 monther in a few days who stayed active over the loyalty period, that is the thing of interest now, but likely they will be dealing with nda'd stuff, so i'd expect a drought of informal info. probablya re going to get some teasers soon though.

  22. ok, reiterating it once more, because it is NOT FUN. especially involving stalkers. Back when i played street fighter 2, and a guy came into the arcade that i knew was better than me, i'd still play against him because even if i lost, i'd still have fun, fighting a lone stalker is as fun as catching crab lice, thats just the breaks, running away may be slower than dying, but it wont be as annoying. people sneak in the areas for the badges and rewards, that is why they are there, why is this difficult for you, they do not want to get a defeat, debt or not, they want a badge and a power, there is no need to keep trying to project these dramatic motivations, they dont find pvp fun, particularly against a stalker.

and yes, if erp gave badges and really useful temps, we would have the same issue.
  23. also, in your first case, stalkers simply are not fun to fight, you either have to run around like a crack addict to avoid being assassin struck, or you stand still for a second and they hop on you, i'm still interested in how that ever became considered fun, but i digress. they probably figured you'd be gone soon, so just leave and come back when the zone has less potential to be annoying.

    Would You Buy...

actually this would probably be a better case for not going the booster route and just making it part of a free issue, as since it has been so long since anything really has been added to bases, this would, i think rightly, be viewed as making the base building community jump through extra hoops.
