Right now, I'm really waiting on leveling up my beam/time corruptor until Mids is updated. I've read too much of it being a slot + power selection tight build, so I want to make sure I can make a character I'd enjoy playing first [ie, I don't have to skip travel powers].

Ouch, I was panicing trying to keep the Twit Squad from getting themselves killed.

I did come to really like Flambeau as a character after the arcs though. Ya, she's a brat, but she's just a teen trying to cope with having Amazing Powers.

Yes, that was in response to the suggest of making Twinshot's first arc the initial contact, and moving the next two arcs to 5 and 10.

I didn't realise she was supposed to be a tutorial contact until I think three missions in when I was told to go to the hospital, then the police station, then the Market and wait a minute! Are you trying to show me that these things exist? Is that one of those "continuing training missions" I heard about? Well, that would have been useful to know ahead of time!

If new players are supposed to run these arcs and learn from them, then it makes sense to at least let them know that, doesn't it? I'm a seven year vet and I had no idea this was supposed to be a tutorial arc before OR after I spoke with Twinshot.
Well... I've only run Graves at the appropriate level, so I'm not too sure how it works out Blue-side. But, with Graves at least, I finish the zone-plot arc + the first Graves arc, and am usually left with a significant bit of XP (1 level in beta, 2 levels live now so I dunno) until I hit up the next band.

And while I can easily see a new player getting into a sewer trial and thus outleveling those tutorial components, I consider it similar to a new player who jumps into AE plvling from tutorial exit. Not as extreme perhaps, but it's a very difficult matter to handle [the popups are really the only option that kinda works out].

Overall, I think the tutorial should teach you a few more things like others have said (conning, slotting and combining enhancements primarily) and the timing on the Twinshot arcs needs adjusting. Maybe make her the initial contact for AP who then introduces the current one at the end of the first arc? And move the next two arcs to 5 and 10?

My experience may flawed then, I remember Graves at least popping up before I leveled up. May be a memory failure. I do know that the Trainer reference was intended for just the reason of reminding players to regularly train up [thank you UStream].

Changing the arcs like would require some reworking with Twinshot at least, since being sent to north steel canyon at level 10 is a bad idea , and introducing the player to the university at level 5 is kinda odd. [edit: just to clarify, not impossible, obviously, just more work to rework than just changing the level ranges]

Conning and slotting enhancements are shown through the popups. I believe combining is as well, but not positive. Although, to be honest, the only bad part I think of not introducing enhancements before level 10 is that you get enhancements slots before then. And well, the base enhancement system is a convoluted mess.

The other new low level hero mission is quite good, if we could have just added that to the existing missions I would have been very happy. Dumping them all for that and Twinshot is a bit crappy imo
I dunno, it's pretty hard to miss the big popup that tells you that you got a new contact and how to reach them... Not like you have to chance on either of them or anything.

And yes, there is a bit of redundancy. The trainer exercise is a good example. You most likely have gone to your trainer a plurality of times before doing the arcs, the thing is, it's possible you haven't, and it's just a simple reminder that you should do it fairly often [and personally, the villain dialog for being sent back to the Arbiter is hilarious imo].

Also, a fair chunk of the 'Need to Know' stuff has been covered by those annoying help popups.

And personally, the first three/four arcs [1+(1 of 2)+1] still felt like a tutorial.

But *shrug*, I like the setup myself.

I still do not understand what the blinking floor panels in this mission mean. Everywhere else in the game a blinking floor panel means the player needs to get out of the way. I eventually figured out the idea was to move monsters into the line of fire, but the blinking panels under the Giant Shivan are unclear to me still--does that mean "get out of the way" or "the monster is being shot by an NPC"--something that happens nowhere else in the game? The Giant Shivan is one of the best Giant Monsters in the game with great animations, but this isn't a real battle. The monster also seems to be "driven back" even if it still has half of its HP.
I believe those blinking panels are the vanguard jets blowing stuff up, in both cases. That said, I didn't even notice them, the only floor indicators I really noticed in the giant shivan fight are the meteor impact areas [which are get out of the way].

    Store Suggestion

Maybe have the store already note what you have already purchased? I cant seem to recall everything I have purchased and would not like wasting my points on something I may already have.

Also I would like to suggest that each custome piece that is sold individually also indicate to which 'set' it belongs so you can optionally purchase the entire set. As well as each set clearly tell you what is included with the set as well as the emotes, custome change animations, sprints, etc. Included pictures of these would be candy!
The store will prevent you from purchasing stuff you already have. While the store still seems to show you stuff you already bought, it won't actually let you check out with them.

Still not saying I agree with putting such a lust worthy set so out of reach for most, just giving reasons why it could be. If we saw the Celestial set running around as much as we're seeing Rocket Boards, it would kind of deflate the significance of the set.
Well, there is another aspect to add into it.

That they rotate in and out, and at least myself, I'm not certain if Celestial will be obtainable after it's stint at tier 9 vip.

Personally, I'm at 32 tokens, so 5 away total from getting all 3 celestial pieces. I do want them, but I'm going to probably wait till the end of their availablity, so hopefully by then there is an answer either way.

Barring myself deciding to spend more than my stipend.
  11. I experienced this problem as well, and the work around [scroll down, then up] worked for me.

Also /bugged it for good measure .

I've had periods where (even before i21) the program works fine...the next day I get what I am getting now...it "logs in" fine but no picture of my toon, can't track badges/etc....the next day it's fine...sometimes just closing it and re-opening it works...*shrugs*
Hmm, if it's not showing the Manifest Version/Data Version when it fails to load, then ya, that's a different problem. To be honest, not too sure how/why that'd happen, my guess may be COH or Sentinel being run as admin, or something else. Better question posed at the titan forums though, they should be more capable of helping ya debug that .

    somewhat...underwhelming, actually
That body frame is used in everything from minions to bosses in Praetoria... All really depends on which content.

BCU are minion, ACU are lieutenant, and 9CU are boss.
  14. Well, if it's any help, it appears to be an interface bug of some sort, not sure if it's just happening to my characters or not but. Will report it anyway, and share a workaround.

If I scroll up the the list [expand a category, go to bottom and start scrolling up], I can select missions, if not, I can only select missions I've already done before.
  15. So, I'm on my villain turned vigilante trying to do some new missions, and I find a large chunk of the missions in Ouroboros Mission list aren't selectable.

Not really seeing any error cropping up when trying to select/click.

More fun right now is that it seems the first two of the new continuing training arcs were doable, but not the third.

    [ edit / add ]
So the actual question. Is there a restriction to some arcs from vigilante in ouroboros? Am I just an idiot?
  16. That's pretty nifty. Cool deal.

    It's been worked on http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....c,4171.15.html

For the time being though, anticipate it not working. We're likely to have a rapid set of updates over the next week, and each update requires a patch to Sentinel before it'll work again.

Actually, a big part of the reason is the same reason Afterburner has the same restriction. Flying faster than certain speeds breaks parts of the game. A way the developers have found to allow somewhat faster speeds is to block out power usage.

Actually, that's why. By turning the lower level missions to being primarily open world, they greatly reduce the number of outstanding instances in the game, which they say has some impact on the server.
  22. It's kinda annoying to effectively get Afterburner for points. But I think that says something more about afterburner than the Rocket Board.
  23. I'd just go with if I like the concept or idea of a character with that powerset.

Everything else is pretty fluid. I trust the powersets will be relatively balanced. For the most part, the quirks of powerset combinations are expected [ie, heavy ST set with a Blaster].

Just to clarify. It no longer lets you sell from within a mission. It caused bad things to happen to the instance servers when it worked like that.

    VIP Starter Kit

Still, it only makes sense for the VIP Head Start. The price of the Starter Kit is the same as a month and it doesn't seem to give anything else. My current free (trial and veteran) accounts show an easy path to upgrade to VIP, and presumably when Freedom launches it will be easy to create an account. So there will be no need for this.
I think it's just something to send some customers to the ncsoft store.
