Maybe they're not even aware of Wyvern itself. Think about it, the Phalanx operates in Paragon, but Wyvern operates in the Rogue Isles. Manticore and Statesman are the only ones who have any interest in the Isles; in the Top Cow comics, Positron, Synapse and Sister Psyche didn't even know who Recluse was. That's probably what Posi meant when he said "the rest of the Phalanx." Numina most likely knows, being a mystic, and Statesman probably knows (but doesn't care), and Citadel is probably oblivious like the other three.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doubtful, I remember one happy fun mission in thel ower levels where a Longbow agent is funding Wyvern operations in a certain region.

Okay, at the risk of it just being my computer, I have to ask :
What the hell happened to this thread? It was well into the double digits last time I came by, and now it's down to two.

Even a redname post promising a site update about Longbow has disappeared! In fact, before this post, the 'last post' link pointed to a post by Cipher. No longer reachable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ya this thread poofed alot away. My replies as worthless as they normally are, are also gone...

    Accuracy

    [ QUOTE ]
Great, so that means Super Reflexes has a further achilles heal (not mentioned before) in that every fourth attack from NPCs will effectively 'auto-hit'. Sorry, but I gotta then ask in light of all this why Devs consider 'Elude' to be so powerful.

Hell, had I known the above from the start and been allowed the 'informed decision' Statesman likes to tout regarding how players should be able to make one; I probably would have gone with either Invun or Regen on my main, since they at least offer more inheirent mitigation of the fact that NPCs ALSO take advantage of teh streak breaker.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The thing that gets me is that I seem to recall a Dev saying that streakbreaker only worked in the PCs benefit, and not the other way around... Of course, I'll trust the Beard over the more commonly posting Devs anyday, but it still feels odd :x.

    Accuracy

    [ QUOTE ]
Hence the part where I stated IN PVE ONLY... I could care less what you do in PVE, it's not gonna affect me.
Anyways, it's not missing that im talking about, its the fact that using an expendable resource that's intended to boost one's accuracy could actually ave no impact on the situation whatsoever.

Actually, it might require a bit more coding, but Id suggest that using a power or inspiration that gives a temp acc boost tell the system to start tracking a new streak with the boosted accuracy, so that any previous attacks at the lower accuracy don't penalize you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your chance to hit still improves...

What doesn't improve, is your chance ot still hit if you miss. Oddly enough, that goes down, because you're more likly to hit in the first place.

    Side Comment :
The exception to the above would be if you're in the 5% rule for that target before using the above power...
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Biostem, it's not that I have a sense of entitlement. You just have low standards.

Your monthly fee goes towards game improvements. This launch should be compared to the coh launch.

And if I had the choice, yeah I would have just grabbed the game for 30 bucks and only gotten access to the villain side. You do realize you have to buy both games to get access to both sides, so the monthly fee alone doesn't do it.

If anyone else has anymore flawed logic, please share it with me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okie, he doesn't have low standards, you have arbitrarily high standards supported by false assumptions?

Would you have spent 30$ for CoV as an expansion, without the free month?

Hint of the Moment : Video Game base-line costs are increasing over the next year. MS is pushing the 59.99$ baseline for the holidays...
  6. Expansions rarely have free trial, unless, they happen to be composite of the base-game... So umm, nope. Even better is that most MMOs won't give you the advertised free month if you are simply buying a collected set (like say, EQ Platnium to get the last 4 expansions) to upgrade an existing account.

That's fine though if you don't think it's worth it. *shrug*

No, disorient is useful on Villains, just like it is on Heroes.

Small problem: All Villain powers are Clicks. Even movement powers.

So, just like a human player, a Villain's AI says "get away, you're mezzed!".

And they do. Since they are gifted with Hurdle automatically, and since all movement powers are Clicks, they don't drop when the villain is "mezzed".

See? It's quite simple. Disorient doesn't suck, this is all just a side-effect of the game engine!

Doesn't that make you feel better?

    [/ QUOTE ]
There's one thing wrong with your logic: You can't use click powers while stunned.

Anyway.. this has already been explained as a bug.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The actual problem with their logic is that the powers are Auto, not click .

Now now, Kheldians are 11th-dimensional beings.

Multiple uses of 'dimension' give me a headache though.
  10. Defense based henchmen : a lucky hit means you have to reuse the power in question because your hench is now splat.

Resist based henchmen : A Generic hit means you have to use a health restoration ability on your hench.

    [ Edit / Add ]
Thought this might need some explaining.

To me, I'd rather have to 'work' at maintaining my henches (or, having another hench work at maintaining them) than have to resummon them on a lucky hit.

As a sidenote, I thought Robot henches had resistance as a base (And Defense from the Protector bot buffs)?

Sorry Jack, but what you are saying simply doesn't match what I see when I log in. Back around I2/I3 you couldn't turn a corner without running into a group of heroes, you could throw together a TF in minutes. Now? I can spend an entire evening streetsweeping in Bricks or IP and never see more than a handful of other heroes. Trying to start a Respec or other TF is all but impossible without a dedicated group. I've seen two formerly full and active SG's become totally disbanded.

Are all these players you speak of coming into the game on that Magical Internal Server you guys use, too? You should know by now that thing is borked.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In I2 and I3 the level spread was alot ... tighter than now, except perhaps in CoV.

Mongoose's missions early on, right after Khalinda. There seemed to be an arc going on, I had clues and a story... but after the 'final' mission, (with the temple), nothing. No souvenier, no further clues... he just pushed me off on the PO Broker.
Anyone know if Mongoose is a real arc or no?

    [/minor_threadjack]

    [/ QUOTE ]

The souvenir is b0rked. I plan to petition for it at some point when the GMs are not so flooded with requests.

    T

    [/ QUOTE ]

I petitioned it. The first reply I got said they were transferring it to QA as a bug report and that my ticket may be closed without further warning. I sent another reply back asking flat out if my character will be awarded the souvie and if not, then why not. The reply back to that was 'This is a known issue. We are working on it and hoped to have it resolved soon. Please refer to the patch notes for any updates. Thank you.' Notice there was no answer to my question.

Is it just me, or is the CS side getting...lacking...of late? It seems that since about I4, they have been going the way of say, SWG CS responses. Ok, maybe not that bad, but still, its no where near the responses from around I3.

As a side note, I also petitioned for Krylov's first story arc after I failed the Facemaker mission. It left the clues / story in my clue window and didn't remove it. I have YET to hear on that issue beyond the automated initial response from Monday.

I know these aren't that big of issues, but still, a customer would like a response.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, that 'known issue' reply was from the transfer to QA. Wait a bit to see if you get an actual response from your question.

Umm, yes. Perhaps you should actually do more than just the first entry on Merriam Webster for the definition of the word...

In any event, it refers specifically to a type of relation that is between entities that aren't even the same species.

    [ And Edit ]
Fun research of the moment, makes me to look like a jack [censored], alas, my poor college literature has failed me. That or it was a vernacular usage that wasn't quite as specific as I thought.

In any event, I did not mean it to refer to the more general usage. So, I'm sorry for those offended.

And confirmed, the term refers to both, so I do apologize for the confusion, and the snappy retort. Now to explain my point. What you see as fun, may be seen as a bad thing in some other eyes, and something 'not to be' desired, for various reasons.

Bleah. That is the Statesman Theory, yes.

In reality, I have one character that I do my best to see all content with...and I also have 50+ alts that I play regularly. My altitis has nothing to do with trying to see content that I missed the first time though...I just *like playing lots of different characters*.

Some people are completists. That's how they have fun. And yet again someone is telling those people they're not having the right kind of fun. *sigh*

  15. [ QUOTE ]
All this would have been simply avoided (both times, for you and me) if the stores would have not sold the RETAIL box before the actual starting date. If they insisted on selling the games before that, then the least they could have done is give the bonus CD with it. It's as simple as that. I don't like buying things I can't use right away, and I especially hate the fact that they don't mention on he box that the game won't be playable prior to a specific date.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As you said, the packaging had no mention of it. Even further, the shipping had no mention of it. The product was not shipped with a street date, which is pretty much the only way a retailer will actually sit on product that's been recieved.

It was NCSoft's decision to distribute it before the 'Launch' Day. It was NCSoft's decision not to include a hard street date. It was the retailers decision to sell a product that by all visible accounts was released.

Funny sidenote, same thing happened to me with the Kunark launch, albiet through the online shipment ordering as opposed to an in-store purchase. Didn't really mind then either.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
What an interesting thread. The OP doesn't want to play the blame game, because the people to blame (himself and the retailer) can't make kiss the boo-boo make it better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Work in the evil field as a retail drone has probably biased me, but just a fun comment here.

There was no hard-street date, PC software (yes even MMOs have used them before) can use Hard street dates, and they will get followed. There are federal laws in place to assure that this occurs.

Now it still can't be fixed, just a rant/ramble. Personally, I don't see it much of a 'thing to be fixed' anyway. It felt more like an attempt to avoid a problem that occured with the CoH launch.

Neither Cryptic nor NCSoft have any control precisely when stores put CoV on shelves. Stores understand that the CoV servers officially go up on Oct. 31st...but they can decide to put the game on shelves before then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

PC Software producers are just as able to setup a hard street date as a book, movie, or music producer... And most retailers will follow hard street dates... Ever notice how most movies are released on a Tuesday?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but with games it's not an industry-wide thing like with movies and music. There are certainly exceptions, sure, Half-Life 2 as an example. And since no one outside of Pre-order customers can een enter their code until Monday, it doesn't really matter if you can buy the box early (a situation typically reserved for MMORPGs) NCSoft isn't likely to want to enforce a street-date. Generally retailers simply put the games on the shelf as soon as they get them, and the distributors are just happy they're getting sales and leave the competition up to the stores.

IIRC (and there's a good chance I don't) the reason music and movies have such strictly enforced street-dates was to prevent unscrupulous retailers from being able to obtain the product early and then overcharge for it, being that they were the only place it was available.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't matter if it's industry wide or not. Interesting tidbit, many of the vg distributors are the same as music and video distributors... Further, there are laws in place to protect and enforce hard streets, regardless of it being 'industry wide'...

Sony had no problem with there being a hard street date for EverQuest 2. Blizzard had no problem with there being a hard street date for World of Warcraft.

Now. I do understand (and agree) with the logic behind not having a hard street date for this title, especially after the happy fun chaos that happened with the CoH launch... I really only have an issue with States saying that Cryptic and NCSoft have no ability to set a hard street date.

And, yes, overcharging is part of it. However, it's more so that all storefronts have a 'fair' shot at the First Day sales, which are a nice bulk of the purchases... Both reasons also apply to pc video games... Especially ones with addictive properties like a MMO...

Are we going to have a mission to deliver a Nerf Bat to Zeb to help turn the tide of the Strike? :P
  20. I'd say so.

MMOs don't take long to go from Gold to street. The physical materials are most likly complete. The disc material may well have been pressed (they're past major graphical changes- see I6 patch being pushed to live :P).

The servers were stable. Sure, they were laggy with 6k+ people on one server. But it was solid. It was more solid than CoH's servers on labor day weekend, so that's definantively a good sign to me .

Only problem I still have is the difficulty in using Shadow Step after I've reached level 20 and have 'access' to Dwarf Step.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Could you elaborate on that.

I have some free time coming up in a few weeks and I'll try to work on the new build then with all the suggestions in mind that people have made and some other surprises.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    The Situation:
Since reaching level 20, I am no longer able to use the bind to successfully teleport in Human Form/using Shadow Step. A targeting reticule comes up, but the power isn't usable. In the combat log, I get "You cannot use Black Dwarf Step at this time."

My guess, is that once I reached level 20, having Black Dwarf Step as a valid power choice meant that the bind always attempts to use Black Dwarf Step.

    * Edit *
Thinking it over, I suspect this will be a problem unique to Warshades, given that they're pretty much the only ones who should have two permanent teleport power options.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dang it. I didn't think that'd be a problem which is why I incorporated both Warshade teleport powers into that bind. I will look that over and try to fix it soon. I'll have to bug someone to test it for me. Volunteers?
