In most cases I'd take a purpled-out (or even just oranged-out) IO build without incarnate powers rather than an incarnated-out one without IO's.

    Seriously.

    Of course, both is better
Point of clarity from me, by Orange, I meant PvP-IOs .

A few other variants than you mentioned. The North wall pull [although that may be your nw courts method]. There's also the Helipad pull spot.

Given both of those locations trivialize the Turrets, they remove that aspect from most trials.

You could also attempt for seperated defeats. However to be honest, those are really just work for the league leader to try to get balanced teams [since expecting the players to be able to pay attention to the damage themselves is asking a bit much].

But to be honest, most of the variance just gets thrown out if your goal is just to farm, since there is an easy/easiest path to do it. Same as just any other content on farm status. You don't really vary it up that much.
  3. Hard to say. I think if you buy stuff individually, you're going to pay more per item, but they are planning on doing bundles as well with discounts, and those I imagine would be similar priced.

    Farming out accolades.
Farming out IO components/recipes for your build.

Now I do understand you tend to stray away from the later one. And for a lot of people whose characters are in question, they've already depleted those avenues. And still others have no desire to go through the 'grind' to ramp their builds up to purple or orange. But I'd contest it's still an alternate of the end-game progression.

And I believe at one time, the idea for the invention system was to be a form of item progression, y'know if the whole deal with Battalion ever actually materialized.

Did come up with an interesting response to one of your later comments, or at least I think it's interesting

On the contrary, it is most impressive when it manifests alone against a humbling display of majesty and authority. What this means is that the Incarnate system really needs to have more types of content that aren't as much of a clusterhug. Incarnates are, thus far, only optional in the sense that they are very, very limited and incomplete. The more complete they become, the less this argument will work, and sooner or later the dominance of raids will need to be reexamined.
It's a fair assessment. The only contention I'd make is the tone of the incarnate trials is more trying to compare against the massive franchise story arcs like the Secret Wars or the Infinity Wars. I'd tend to line it up more with the various Infinity-lines simply because of the Cosmic level Superpower aspect. Well I had thought it was interesting, I blame my lack of sleep on the lack of details .

FF secondary, so prolly resist if I do, since the singy is getting ~ +30% defense from bubbles directly.

Kinda regreting now that I can't easily directly pull up my sings stats like I can with my mm. Base resists are still pretty much the base 50% resist, so I dunno. Just doesn't seem too useful, but I suppose it's a thought at least . Shuffling that to 70% could be nice, I guess the deal is I just don't see my singy dying enough to be worth it, but that might be becuase most of my memory of singys is from back when they were 90%.
  6. So, I returned to my controller. And I see I have an Endoplasm Exposure and 3 Peroxisome Exposures slotted into Singularity.

This feels pretty fun [in the 'my singularity can arguably hold better than I can' sort of way]. And I'm pretty happy with those 4 slots. but I'm just staring at the other two wondering what to do with them.

I kind of like the idea of 6 slotted sing, but most of the other suggestions I see slot the Sing with Expedient instead, but I really don't see the point myself. So anyway, I'm left wondering for ideas for the other two slots.

I had a thought for trying Explosive Strike: Chance for Smashing Damage, but I'm not too sure how that would work out [I really should just test it on test myself, but I'm lazy and hoping someone else has experience]. Also, would say a Force Feedback/Recharge even have an effect on the pet? I know MM pets ignore recharge effects mostly, but do the older pets do as well?

I guess I don't really see why there was such trouble with glowies and destructible objects, since they make an audible sound as you get near them, as well as flashing and glowing. The other MMO I occasionally play only has the visual cues (glowing, flashing faintly, sparkles above ther target, etc.) and I really miss the audible cues.
One of my char's is a FF. I can't hear the natural hum of glowies on that character.

'Hollow' glowies [planting bombs] have a softer noise. Also, the worst map I've encountered them on was that Sharkhead outdoor map, which there's just too much junk littering the screen.

Some maps [Oranbega] are really really bad with hidden glowie spawn spots.

Something they've said on the UStream about that. Don't expect more Lore pets in the short term, the plan is to work on additional options for the other incarnate abilities first and flesh them out before they add even moar to Lore.

If you want to make it less about spamming heals while maintaining the difficulty, one change I could get behind would be stronger pulses at longer intervals e.g. instead of 50% every 30s, make it start off with 80-85% every 60s. You take less damage per unit time and have a longer window where you don't need to worry about it, but the pulse is deadlier.
I dunno. Even that would change dynamics a bit. The problem I see is when it starts becoming more about topping off the league than keeping the league at a healthy point.

However, with the lower hitpoint characters, I can see a fair argument that their healthy point is already Max. hp.

Unfortunately, for me anyway. Propel has such a cool animation and graphic that I have to use it.

We've already seen numerous complaints about the current crop of costume items being locked behind the raids, I think the fact is having anything locked behind the raids means that someone will complain.
Well, I think it'd be a case of there being more diversity amongst the content.

To be fair though, with regards to raids, we have a raid that awards special currency, we have a raid that awards special enhancements, and we have a raid that awards a temporary buff. Until recently, we had more raids that gave stuff besides incarnate rewards than ones that gave incarnate rewards .

I see more of the problem being the game tries to distance itself from direct itemization, preferring instead reward pools amongst different grades of content.

The fact that people are complaining about the difficulty is just evidence of how sad some people are in this game. Just because it's a really easy game almost all the time doesn't mean the few precious moments that actually give some challenge and require basic thought should be dropped down to stupid mode.

The only thing I would see changed about Keyes, and to a lesser extent Lambda, is the rewards. Keyes ought to offer much better rewards considering the much higher time investment in starting it and running it, and so should Lambda. I would think it fair if Keyes always gave at least a Rare drop, and Lambda always gave at least an Uncommon drop. That way you're not upsetting the legions who will complain when their precious Astral farm BAFs are taken away, but still providing some reason for peopel to want the others save the novelty and the Empyreans.
It's been trending towards a double-average of BAF and Lam... I'd really think perhaps 'two' reward pools would have been nice, or perhaps have the reward pool shifted up a tier [visibly, with an explanation].
  13. One thing to note though, the new proliferation and powersets are coming along with Freedom, which will include the enhancement unslotters.

So there's another downward force that can potentially be applied.

Ah, my only claws char is trapped in Praetoria (who is oddly enough using the vanguard claws because it mimics the effect of Viccy the best imo) now or I'd do it for ya. I've done the farm though for my Shield Brute. Done the farm on my MM for a badge. So it's managable, I just don't tend to player claws.

Hmm, I'm not sure myself, since my MM doesn't have any of the new lore pets, but I think the rename feature is something exclusive to MMs.

Even my Brute can't rename their Warworks for instance.

I don't think there's a satisfactory solution to that problem. People will gravitate to the high pop servers anyway. Making Freedom and Virtue VIP will destroy all the existing communities that will have members that drop to premium status, and that will cause more harm than good.

Maybe the devs could make Virtue and Freedom Premium servers so existing communities would remain intact.

Or the devs could do something similar to what they did with GR and require new free accounts make their first character on any server other than Freedom and Virtue. Once they do that then they are free to make a character on Freedom and Virtue.
There is a solution, the queue/lock out method. While folks want to play on populated servers. They also want to be able to play their characters.

Something to remember with the Freedom incident is that they specifically disabled the queue for the event as well.

I'd offer to help you if you were on Virtue, either the story arc redside or cheesing the eyeballs in FBZ Blue. But I think they are forearm mounted. Certainly do sympathize with you though, I'd like the costume creator to be more flexible all around [and really, exception for the Ascension pieces, it doesn't seem pointed that they're blocked before the fact]. I want to say it's prolly going to be related to the touchups that Freedom is going to give the costume creator, but I dunno and frankly, it's not worth getting hopes up over until it's known anyway .

What if someone joins the LFG Queue 5 minutes and 10 seconds after the leader's hit 'go!'?

    Eco.
Because the league system will only fill an in-progress league up to the minimum. I imagine this is mostly to reduce the need for the league to have to re-explain everything while in progress. Of course, it's moot point in general since we're not talking about there being that much traffic from the queue. I did think that the new league invite method allowed the league leader to grab folks from the in-progress queue though, that doesn't appear to be the case, but it would have been nice.

If the queueing league leader doesn't want to wait for open players in the queue to join their league, they can form a closed league and move on, not that big of a deal.

The same thing that happens without a timer when someone queues 10s after a team of 8 launch into Lambda. They wait for the next matchmatching group to get made.

Most of the qualms should really resolve themselves if people used the queue directly instead of preforming teams. But there are a few issues that generally dissuade folks from using them. And largely it results in a chicken and egg situation that rather sucks. Personally, I feel that making it usable while doing Other Stuff would dramatically improve it's usability. It'd struggle with perception now however due to it's history of ineffectiveness such that it may still need more 'kicks in the pants' to get people to start using it.

The 5 minute delay is there to give the league time to fill up in the queue. Instead of mostly launching with a minimum body count.

Depends on the player. There are many badge hunters out there. And most of those quirks are actually tied to badges. A few others gave response with regard to the Accolades as well. But it can be a problem for some players. You admittedly don't see it as too much of a problem because you actually enjoy that content, so you frame it as being something different than the situation you dislike. Which is ok, there are numerable differences and such flat comparisons on either side are prone to really be inaccurate.

For those who like the trials and/or want to run the trials, whether it is for the cosmetic pieces, the powers, or both, none of this really matters.

The crux of the matter is the inclusion of non-Incarnate-based costume items and emotes as rewards for Incarnate content. And by the adjective "non-Incarnate-based" I am referring to the items that either have no obvious thematic ties to Incarnate content and/or have not been outwardly defended as having been designed exclusively for Incarnates (i.e. the Ascension Armor).

For any further explanation, just check the post in the link above.
Ok, your first post references one problem, and this quoted post is referencing a different problem.

Your first post is referring to the method of acquisition and stating that other currencies have multiple acquisition methods. Again, there are also other rewards in this game that do not have multiple acquisition methods. But to be fair, my remarks were more in line that it's bad for their to be unique rewards for a system [bribing people to participate in it].

Your quoted post is referencing that it's not thematically appropriate for some [most] of the items on the reward table to be exclusively available from Empyrean [And Astral as their alternative acquisition is pretty much worse than trying to get Isolated in Recluse's Victory] merits. And that's a different issue than what I was intending to reference.

I am quite positive the discussion goes in circles. It often does. Especially as a thread gets larger than 3 pages .

And that's reasonable to me. Only caveat I'd suggest, don't trust that they'll become available in the mtx store. It's possible they come about in the mtx store, it's possible they get added elsewhere. It's also possible that they don't decide to add them to other sources.

Not to suggest that you are planning on them being available in the mtx store, just that folks in general shouldn't anticipate things changing until they actually do change. Better to be pleasantly surprised than left wondering when the Vault is coming out.

    --NT
Well, I wouldn't say it's meaningless. It's simply the average wait time. It's just not a useful number due to people predominantly prefabricating leagues.

That problem should solve itself if the queue system gets more directly utilized. However, baring that, trimming the extreme results [the <1m results as suggested] would be a far more useful number.

Well, okay, you have to do the ITF twice. To be specific, you have to kill Rommie five times, and he only have four lives per ITF, and no extra life no matter how many zillion points he gets.
I swear I've seen that taskforce line before in reference to iTrials. Just because you like them, doesn't mean everyone does . And that's ok.

One slight wrinkle, although it's potentially meaningless depending on the player. All of those are worked out per character. The iTrial cosmetic unlocks are per account. It may have an effect on perception. But to be honest, I really see it as a minor distinction anyway. Especially since I don't think the fact that they are account-unlockable should really be 'held against' them with regard to their astral/empyrean merit cost.

But mostly just trying to get you to concede that there have been rewards in this game that have been behind gates that people don't like.

Ah, the exclusivity, that's a different qualm than being upset at being bribed .

However, I do contest that there are a number of other such exclusive bribes in place. One way to get a glowing roman sword, one way to get a bald cap/witch hat combo, and one really annoying way to get task force commander epaulets.

However, I do wonder if it's more viable to obtain alignment merits through street sweeping than it is to obtain incarnate progression without iTrials. While it is possible in the former case [Zone Events, and exceptional characters soloing GMs], I doubt how viable it truly is. It'd be an interesting experiment, but I'd need some serious bribing to be willing to try it .
