just pointing out that not everyone was informed about the event, or at least the people who don't lurk in the forums.

[/ QUOTE ]

You don't have to lurk the forums. Pop in once a day, check the announcements section. Takes less than a minute. If you can manage to squeeze another minute out of your incredibly busy life, you can check the community digest as well and be even more informed. Easy as checking your e-mail.

[/ QUOTE ]

There are even RSS feeds of the digests
2. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I wasn't whining, just pointing out that not everyone was informed about the event, or at least the people who don't lurk in the forums. With this large number of people who missed out on the festivities, the devs should be more than willing to run it again. I agree that this would be ideal as a weekend event and I will be severely upset if last night was the only time to get those badges like that.

[/ QUOTE ]

All of the badges from last night are achievable in the game. If you want them, go get them. Go hunt GMs, go take down the arachnos patrons in RV. There are plenty of teams around doing this, I personally already had most of the badges myself.

You didn't miss anything in this event you can't otherwise get any other time.
3. [ QUOTE ]
Was that just announcement that there was going to be an event as a whole, or did it describe the AVs/GMs being spawned everywhere and only lasting a few hours? Either way, people missed out on it and they should have this event again so everyone can partake in it.

[/ QUOTE ]

...

I don't think you people realize this event actually meant devs are custom spawning these critters. They weren't scripts or other items going off, real live people were sitting on the other end dropping doom.

This was announced five days prior, thats plenty of time. I personally was able to participate long after I got home from work. I was on test hanging out with Positron and Mynx till almost 2 AM EDT.

So I'm glad the devs did this, I hope they had as much fun as we did, and I'm grateful. I didn't really get to experience the events on the live services due to the lag. But I still appreciate it and their time.

Even if I hadn't made it I wouldn't be whining about missing it because I had to work or didn't bother checking the events announcements.

K. Loggin off test...

Not as far as I can tell. I'm at work being fed info from my other half on live. *sigh*

Is this only on test?

[/ QUOTE ]

No clue. Wondering the same thing.
Runnin off 3 hours of sleep. They should really give us a headsup as to where we should be or if it doesnt matter, considering we are all here for the same reason and would suck to miss it since I requested today off work.

[/ QUOTE ]

From what I'm hearing it has already started on all live shards.
7. [ QUOTE ]
Call me ungrateful, but this seems really unfair to habve this event on a weekday.

Am I wrong to assume that most of us work? and that since this is based on eastern time, those of us in the west coast and further out wont be able to participate as much as the resT?

And I know you cant please everyone, however, this isnt like having the event on a weekend and 5% of the population cant make it. This is a weekday day, where I am sure 90% of the population willl miss most of it due to work.

If only i had numbers of demographics to make my argument more substantial. then if we want to go on the test server we really have to choose how we want to spend our time. On test to talk to the devs? Or in game to not miss out on characters based rewards rather than account based.

Simnple solution. give us a week, something so that we all have enough time to particpate.

*please excuse typos.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think a lot of people seem to fail to realize this is during the day so the devs can participate during work. They have lives, work a tough job with deadlines and demands. I personally wouldn't want to see them have to work overtime just to give us some sort of event in game.

I'd rather them do it during the day (11 AM EDT is 8 AM PST the devs are on the west cost), and get time to go home to their families at a normal hour in the evening.

Sure I'd love to get to attend the event for the whole time, unfortunately I will miss the early festivities for work. But I'm ok with that. Overtime, even paid, sucks.

Also its on a weekday because April 28th is the *actual* 5th anniversary.
8. I've love to see the Longbow invasion from the end of CoV beta since I didn't get to experience it myself.

11. Can we purchase MA through steam and attach it to our current existing account?
12. [ QUOTE ]
I mistakenly put this out there on the PvP Negative forum. but as an alternative to travel suppression what if activating a travel put you in only affecting self status for the duration of that toggle running or for TP for a short time afterward you could only affect self. You could still move flee etc... but you can't fight. You would have to turn off travels to fight so you couldn't run and gun.

[/ QUOTE ]

Because the travel powers do still make PVP fun. There is nothing,a t least to me, quite like leaping into the air on my Katana scrapper and doing a soaring dragon in midair on an opponent.

Or flying and fighting other flying opponents.

I wouldn't want to take the travel powers completely out of PVP. I think with the changes now people have a higher chance of escape, its not insta death once you've been held or attacked and the suppression isn't that extreme.

Just try it in the arena. Do a match with suppression then do one with suppression off. I did it myself, its not that massive of a difference.

Plus plenty of group story lines and role playing opportunities both in game and on our forums.
14. Subjective:
Overall I really enjoy the changes to PVP 2.0, I'm finding it much easier now to get people interested in casual PVP then before. Fights are more interesting and last longer and the Diminished returns seem to be fostering more team work.

Within my SG, our weekly three hour arena events on Thursdays has become several times a week random pick up events. It's not uncommon now for me to hear people forming their own random arena events to face off against each other. Squishy characters are also more willing to wade in, and after trying it once.

The response I've seen from people so far as been positive at least within our SG. We are not however hardcore PVPers, more casual then anything else.

Some objective feedback:
<ul type="square">[*] People are confused when they first get a inf/prestige/salvage drop in the arena. Could we maybe have some sort of text associated with these drops like when you get a enhancement so people know its a pvp reward or they they received something? Maybe they could recieve a type of PVP token instead that can be turned in for stuff by vendors near the arena kiosks or zone hospitals?
[*] When setting up Teams in the arena it would be nice if you could specify the leader for each individual team. Maybe it doesn't really matter much but for RP sake it does.
[*] People seem confused about when suppression kicks in, could we possibly get some sort of visual indicator that suppression is active, even if its just the cyan rings around the wrists and ankles like some slow powers give.
[*] Is there a reason that slow powers seem completely unaffective? Caltrops seem to have no noticeable effect now, except for the paltry damage. Likewise for web grenade and any other slowing power. If the slow effect of these powers is basically null maybe they need a buff in another way. Like caltrops maybe does more damage or the web grenade has a greater effect on recharge. As it stands these seem basically useless in PVP.
I'm loving everything about this event except that the new ToT timers allow griefers on Invincible to click multiple doors quickly and then tow giant crowds of 52s and 53s through everyone else trying to ToT.

[/ QUOTE ]
did the devs listen to any input about griefing? obviously not. Pi was hell on a level 41 and there is no where else to go.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hint:

Use Ouroboros to EX down to a lower level and use another zone. Or find a lower level friend and ex down to their level, use another zone.

Villain side I prefer to use St. Martial inside of the Giza myself. You can also use the RWZ for higher levels.

This is why I hate my job. I work rotating 18s til monday night. Then I get in game, but the new shiny is over from the weekend and no one wants to do the event.

[/ QUOTE ]

I suspect that there will be people logging in Monday expecting the event to start then.

If the large crowds are making your graphics card cry, find a smaller crowd elsewhere. It should only take about 10 people to get an elite boss to spawn... you don't need 50.

[/ QUOTE ]

Confirmed, 8 man team spawns a EB, we had the most fun in this event so far with 8 people in Dark Astoria in one of the graveyards.

It was a definite blast. So really you don't need to bunch up to do this, just get a team, find a cool spot and aim for the head!

EDIT: Scooped by Rodion, but I still want answers!!!

[ QUOTE ]
Matt Miller: &lt;snip&gt;And in addition, one of the things we're doing is we're getting rid of the Base Salvage out of the game, because a lot of the players were getting confused with the Invention Salvage, since they both get the same kind of message. Players get excited when they get Invention Salvage, and then they get disappointed when they find out it was only Base Salvage, especially if they don't have a supergroup or their supergroup doesn't really need the Base Salvage any more. So what we're going to do is we're going to get rid of the Base Salvage, and just make everything that's currently craftable in the bases from salvage, craftable through that Invention Salvage as well.

Massively: So is that going to make turrets and other raid items for bases easier to get?

Matt Miller: Oh yeah. Absolutely.

[/ QUOTE ]

If this means we'll now be able to craft base items with Invention Salvage, the Market is going to go nuts.

Plus, does this mean we finally get SG invention salvage storage??? Or are the base storage items we currently have just going to evaporate?

And are the hundreds of pieces and components we have saved up in our bins going to evaporate?

I saw nothing about "converting", unless you're talking about the ridiculous conversion rates at the workbenches.

[/ QUOTE ]

I want more detail on this as well, because at the offset this whole idea is unsettling and very discomforting. Right now base items made from salvage are fairly easy and cheap. This is because inf isn't involved with base building and there is always plenty of base salvage available, even if you need to buy it, those items are dirt cheap on the market. I fear however that the moment base salvage is replaced with invention salvage (priced by the whim of the market and already in high demand due to the popularity of invention salvage), base building is going to suddenly become expensive and a hassle.

This is also going to have an impact on empowerment buffs, something previously we could offer a freebie to people, now its going to use potentially expensive invention salvage for what really isn't that impressive of a buff. Personally I really liked having base salvage separate from invention salvage, it made it easier running a SG to not worry about people stealing base salvage and it made people more willing to unload into the group bin.

This also brings up the fact that super groups have no way to collectively pool influence. This means that costs are not going to be shouldered directly onto the shoulders of the person running the group potentially. Which is unfair to say the least.

But enough rambling, to put this in a quicker format:

Questions -
<ul type="square">[*]If invention salvage is going away will we see an increase in the invention salvage drops?[*]What type of invention salvage will base items and empowerments require? Common, uncommon or rare? Will it also require inf like invention crafting?[*]What will happen with existing base salvage stores? Will we be able to convert these items? Will the conversion be 1 to 1? If the conversion is 1 to 1 how will you address the issue of the market being swamped and the potential for abuse?[*]Are some common base items going to no longer require crafting? Things like teleporter pads, higher end control and power items?[*]Will SGs be getting a way to pool invention salvage and influence? Is there going to be a re-evaluation of the inf to prestige conversion rate?[*]In regards to the repricing, will SGs be refunded to difference in prestige cost for previously placed items?
Thanks! I hope we can get an answer to some of these questions because I know I'm not the only one thinking them now.

Edit: Fixed formatting.

Can anybody recommend software, fonts, or graphics to make banners like those on some virtueverse pages?

[/ QUOTE ]

Free would be something like Gimp. Expensive would be Photoshop.
22. [ QUOTE ]
Okay, Scarf, I think I owe you a (partial) apology.

I've been having some issues of my own with the wiki (locked out of my existing account and, for some reason, unable to receive a new-password email) and other distractions, so I haven't been paying attention to the thread I started on the discussion forums (which I'm still able to log in to). I was under the impression that the consensus so far was that we did not want to move to "the new Geocities" (as I often think of wikia) and, even if there are no problems with rights or acceptable content, have our pages plastered with ads. (Even though I don't see them myself, thank you Adblock.) I was not aware that "admin" had apparently contacted TonyV about doing exactly that.

Personally, I still don't have a problem with the admin remaining anonymous. But so long as it is feasible to keep VV privately hosted and ad-free, I would greatly prefer it to remain so. (This has nothing to do with wanting to remain apart from the other servers and everything to do with presentation.) If that will not be feasible for very much longer, I would appreciate being informed immediately.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually what I've seen so far seems to be the admin recommending a group of interwiki links to separate wikis for each server whether privately hosting like VirtueVerse or on Wikia but organized through a central hub on Wikia.

So VirtueVerse would stay private, but would be linked in with the hub and Paragonwiki to share content while still remaining its own page.

Sheesh everyone's panties in a bunch over some people talking about it, its not like someone is flicking the switch tomorrow.

Also the cost for VirtueVerse comes out of Kadekawa's pocket, and I would imagine the site has grown beyond what he can manage and host. Given its size it really needs to be something that is self sustaining whether its with ads or something else.

Its free, least the admin and kade seem to care what users are saying. But there is a point where you need to be realistic about something of that size.

24. New Template: TopCharBox
Basically this is a spin on the info box, except much smaller, and at the top of the page with the image aligned to the right alone. Using it on most of my pages now, the colors are also completely user customizable.

Character Page Updates:
Cherry 9 - A brash assertive smart alec, ex-USAF combat engineer, Cherry is one of the newest recruits to S.C.O.R.P.I.O..

Callista Roase - In the middle of rewriting content, but working on the overall page style.

Mada Zarifa - Page layout update, going to be turning the Interpol ID into a template for everyone else shortly along with several other IDs.

Damon Roase - Updated content and images completely. Still needs more styling but thats for later.
