Just wondering what the ticket cap per mission is. Oddly I asked in game and got several different answers.. It really was a question I thought I would get a immediate and straight answer to. But that is why I'm here asking..
Also, this might or might not be a odd question.
I think the ticket cap is 10k (9999). Assuming no farms, just standard AE missions running at 0/8. Has anyone ever timed the rise from 0 tickets to 10k tickets ?
The ins and outs of the AE system is just another thing I am trying to learn a bit more about this game after 5 years.. -
Stealth does not work the way you think it does.. It is suppressed during combat so your only going to get 2% defense. So if you add this to your normal defense numbers it is not enough to get you defense cap. Trust me if it was that easy to get defense cap with stealth everyone would be running around with it on.
Further You have the money for those PvP IOs you put in Poison Traps ? I'm guessing you don't because I can placing purple IOs in better places then poison trap.
I would just rework the builds that are posted to make them your own. Between the one high end build and my two plain builds which are all at defense cap, you can find something. Also they also help to serve you to show you regardless of which end you go some powers are just necessary. -
This is what I have for PvE build.. I'm going to post 2 builds.. The first one is a Traps Sonic Corruptor.. Just transpose over to Defender side.. It is full Positional Defense capped and of course almost Typed Defense capped.. Not intentional, just happens when slotting for Defense..
I picked up Power Sink because its a GREAT way to get back endurance and its very quick recharge.
Conserve Power is for when Power Sink might be down and a few hits got in and wasted my endurance trying to place a Trip Mine or a Time Bomb. ATM you will waste endurance but not place the bombs if you get hit.. So 2 failures to place and you could be below half in endurance. Again it is there for back up.
This build is sort of like walking in slowly and announcing to everyone your there for the fight.. Running a 0/8 or 1/8 mission what I try to do is find 3 groups close together.. Aggro one group as I move over to another.. Lay down Triage Beacon and fire of an attack to aggro the 2nd group. I then will use Siren Song to sleep a bunch. As I have the 2 groups there, I lay down a Time Bomb and then immediately target a 3rd group and have them come in.. I will then fire off Sirens Song again Sleeping some others..
Shortly there after Time Bomb goes off and I start to lay down Trip Mines. I kill off any Stragglers with aoe or single attacks. If I can pull more mobs I will now start dropping Caltrops and Acid Mortar and start clearing out all the mobs in the area.. Pretty much I am pulling them to one spot, which is where my Triage Beacon and Acid Mortar are at... They all come.
I find it great for solo farming.. It's safe.. you have many tools to protect you.. Perfect example.. You pull too many you can see the hits coming through your defense or a bunch start targetting your Force Field Generator. Lay down Caltrops, You will immediately see the number of attacks dwindle down.. Poison Traps another great tool and the Lockdown proc last for as long as the smoke does.. So you will see new mobs coming in not get affected by the poison but being held by the Proc from lockdown.
The 2nd build is off a Traps AR Defender I have.. different build but same effects. AR has more AOE Attacks so I didn't see the use for Time bomb that much..
If you don't want to go crazy just look for powers in sonic that can slot the same IOs as in AR if you don't want time bomb but want to keep the defense cap..

Quote:Asking, when you mean Blind Feint and Attack Vitals you are talking about this chart right http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Dual_BladesWell, BF-Attack Vitals, is enough ST DPS really (I'm clocking in at 180+ DPS on my build using that chain).
As it's easy to obtain, it's not hard to concentrate on your defenses.
My build currently uses the Body Mastery Epic Pool, but that's only untill I go rogue quick enough to pick up Mu Mastery (for concept reasons...though the same with you, I see the benefit of having a Range and a Hold...just sucks you have to redraw with DB).
I get by just fine without the Sweep Combo, but I did take Typhoon's Edge (BF-AV Combo-Typhoon's Edge-Repeat is my combo when dealing with mass enemies).
Does that mean you have 1k Cuts ?
Wait I think I got what your saying now... I read it but didn't get it, even though you said it correctly.. What I was thinking is you were doing 3 combos. So you know where my mind is at.. But your not.. It is 2 attacks sandwiched by a Combo.. As you expressed it..
But getting back to 1k Cuts.. Being new to DB I do think the attack is cool.. But I'm getting the impression no matter how cool I think it might be its not work taking..
-
This is what I worked out for the cheapskate in me.. I have one slot left over..

Thanks for the insight and really just taking the time to type all that info out.. It is very much appreciated.
I come from Robot Traps, Traps AR, DP Kin. Basically a More support blasterish type of builds. I'm BIG into Defense Cap. Born again Defense Cap player here. I LOVE Traps for what it can do.
All that being said scrappers sort of scare me, I don't have my head wrapped around the mechanics of it.
Further I want to say I have no clue how resurgence got in there.. And I went for the Physical Perfection line but just thought about my recent no hold LGTF episode and was tired quitting because we had none. Been in 4 or 5 of those situations in the past few months.. Very annoying.. Maybe there is a temp hold I can make for those situations. Will have to look into that.
Finally I can clearly see you guys/gals know your DB chain attacks.. I don't have a clue about that either. Was wondering what was important and not.. Just trying to memorize the chains ( I know its not that many ) and what they do.
I do have 2 sets of kinetic Combat which I saved from other builds.. I might have to go the route of making LOTG + recharge, selling and then buying up the Miracle +recovery.. I might have to go the cheaper route then you guys do and then build up to a higher spec.. Let me see what I can work up and post for inspection..
I didn't work with the Miracle +Recovery because of the 180 million it was going for.. Just seemed to steep.. Many of my full defense cap builds go for that price, I was a bit shocked having to spend that price for 1 IO. hehe.. -
hehe pretty cool Twilight. I didn't think of that.. I like it.. Thanks, The heal is certainly much better now..

This is what I am running atm minus Any LOTG.
I needed to go Endurance Alpha because the endurance drain was too painful.

Bit of an update.
That Miracle +recovery was 180 million.. I just didn't see me spending that on one IO for endurance..
I instead removed 1 slot from Full auto and made it all Damage Recharge and 1 slot from Combat jump. I then 3 slotted Stamina with Efficacy Adapter which with the end bonus from the set, it was better then just putting 3 Endurance IOs in it or buying that 180 million Miracle IO.. But sadly still wasn't enough endurance.
I was able to complete the Incarnate missions by auto completing the AV mission and got into a Mother Ship Raid which gave me the Vanguard merits and shards I needed to single slot for Cardiac ( Endurance ). It seems MUCH better now..
Though I just do not feel the awesomeness I get from my Traps AR Defender.. I have him to Tier 2 for Damage Alpha and solo in a mission with the 30% bonus and the Alpha I am doing A LOT of damage.
Which in turn makes me feel if I was going to purple anything out it would be the defender. Because he would benefit TONS more from the +Recharge that the purple sets offer.
Well whatever, sad panda face for me.. My AR Device is much better then it was, but not as good as it should be. -
I picked up this build from someone about a year ago and just pretty much made it i19 compliant.
I am torn for the last 3 one slotted powers.. I was considering Aid Other, Aid Self and Block of Ice for 1 hold ( I've done enough LGTF without holds )
Or Block of Ice, Shiver and Ice Storm. I'm leaning towards the first just because I have no self heal and would have to rely on not getting hit or inspirations.. Granted if my defenses fall apart healing will be difficult with all the hits.
Nonetheless here is the build

Trying to figure out how to make this build. I am so geared towards defense cap with so many toons I sort of get locked in that direction..
After reading a bunch of threads on DB and on WP I sort of took some builds and mixed them in to make this..
Here are my thoughts on the build. Seeing as the defensive powers are geared towards type instead of positional I put some sets in to work with that. My defenses are from the 20s to the 30s .
I also tried to kick up the Regen of the build. With Rise to the Challenge active against 8 mobs my Regen is at 821% which comes to 61 hp per second. Looking at some defense caps toons I have there regen is in the 400% range. My beliefs are between the defenses and the Regen I should be okay..
I picked up Char for a hold.. They seem to come in handy during the Hami part in LGTF and just to help stack holds on a AV or GM when needed.
I picked up Melt armor for the AOE -Def and -Res and added a proc to it. And fireball as my ranged attack to pull mobs or kill running mobs..
So please tell me what you think.. I would guess I would go with Damage for a Alpha Slot..

Quote:Went that route as well. I was hoping to get MOG down enough that I can toggle it back and forth with Shadow Meld. Best I can do with MOG is 72 seconds.Recharge is more important than a bit of extra regen.
My own uber Claws/Regen build has 626%, which translates to 63 hp/s. But Instant Healing is up half the time (180s recharge), if needed, for 1564% (157 hp/s).
That's not including tasty Spiritual Alpha slot too.
Cheers!
I didn't think about Alphas either. Bit tired from a plane flight, of course I went from hot and sweety to running back home just in time to get the snow blower ready for the storm. -
I looked at the build jonnycash.
I concur that protector bots will get you where you need to be defense wise. But that means you need to make sure you summon the protector bots first and wait until they buff you with a bubble before summoning the other bots.
I really am not a bit fan of relying on something else unless I have no other way around it.
I just think you can purple out my build move some things around and get yourself in that high recharge and be defense capped without need a pet bubble and finally without all the billions. I think your talking just 12 billion( aprox 4 billion each ) for the gladiators in dark embrace alone.
I just see this spending like a rich guy trying to toss money at a problem and hoping it goes away. There are times when purples are great and a awesome boon. I just don't think this is one of those times. I just do not see anything beyond recharge that these IOs are offering you.
I get double Triage. I get double Acid Mortar. I can lay out dozens of Trip mines. I'm at defense cap without my bots. I will say I do notice the proc going off in Bon Fire since I pull so many mobs and so many of them are trying to run through the fire. -
Just wondering what numbers should I be shooting for on a Regen build ?
Currently looking at BS / Regen 50 Scrap I have just sitting in limbo for about 2 years.
In MIDS under the view totals box option under health and endurance section currently I am at 646 % regeneration with standard toggles running.
Is that too low ? -
Quote:Your build is off. You are relying on a Kluge and a prayer to hope you get defense cap. Your relying on a pets seeker drones you have no control over. Your hoping your proc goes off in yours. I don't even know how long the debuff last for drones.. Cityofdata, redtomax, or the wiki show no duration number for seeker drones to hit debuff. The thing is plainguy, my build doesnt have to be at the softcap, due to all the other layers helping it out.
double stacked triage beacon, the resistance shield, and my debuffs do far more for me then another 2 - 3% defense would (heck, Arcanaville pretty much said the mitigation i have is better then the mitigation a softcapped SR scrapper with aid self has)
And, even with the purple patch, the seeker drones -tohit values (from both me and my protector bots) fill that 2 - 3% hole in my defense. so for all intents and purposes, i am softcapped, in addition to all the other mitigation i have.
that bot/traps build is my main character, and i pretty much threw money at it to give even the slightly increased in mitigation. I used to have the scorpion shield which put me way beyond the softcap on smash/lethal/energy, but the resistance shield i have now ends up adding more to it, as well as having double stacked triage beacons, and being able to floor AVs tohit values against me.
Remember, you bots take 3/4 if the damage that you would've taken due to bodyguard mode, but that damage is lowered by your resistance first. So, if BaBs hits you with his energy transfer power, and it would normally do about 1500 damage, your resistance (in this case about 46.2% cuts it down to 810 and then your bots cut it down again by 75%, so you only have 202 damage. If your at the softcap, but have no resistance, then you only have bodyguard mode to fall back on, so you end up taking 375 damage after bodyguard mode. (your pets take about 1/2 what you took, so for the first example, its 101, for the second its 187.5)
Your talking about powers that I have as well and benefit me in the same way they benefit you.. So If I'm already at defense cap and you need this stuff to obtain defense cap.. I'm at defense cap plus more. So when some mob hits me we defense debuff and knocks down half my defenses, it knocks you down to zero defenses.. Our hit debuffs only help me to bring me up to a higher defense value in the 30s. whereas your bring you back up to the teens.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=185167 <- Dechs defense cap thread.
To show you how skewed your build is.. I can pick up the same MU power slot for +3 defense from the Gladiator set pickup from merits and now still be at Positional defense cap and I can reslot 3 powers that were offering me the 3% in Melee, Ranged and AOE defense which would allow me many more slots to increase my regen and recharge of many powers including Triage beacon. End result I can do with one purple IO that has taken you 5 purple sets to do.
In your babs comment. If something fails you fighting babs your lower defenses will open you up for more hits which your pets cannot recover from..
You cannot do anything with that build without your pets. Whereas I can solo 0/8 with no pets. Your pets are built with lesser values compared to mine.
You tossed billions at the build thinking it was gonna make it better. Purple is not better -
@ Jonnycash
Your data chunk is not there and the link is not working properly so it's hard to get the data downloaded for proper examination. But I did look at Arbegla build which you based this off.
Honestly I don't understand Arbegla build. It seems very, very expensive, into the billions and unnecessary. Its not even at defense cap.
Since you seemed to have followed his build but changed a bit around, but nothing that would effect you defense cap. Your pretty much in the same boat build wise.
You need to read and understand Dechs thread on Defense cap. its around on the forums you can do a search for it. I don't have the link on this laptop atm to directly link it. -
Traps has become my vice. Like Adeon I like AR as well. So I have the best of both a Traps AR Defender. I have 4 traps and 2 AR toons all at 50 because its just so easy to level them up.
-
Are you going to solo with your Mastermind ?
Are you going to use SOs or build it with invention bonuses in mind ?
Are you looking to run TF / SF with your Masterminds or just looking to get a toon to 50 ?
All that matters. Short answer, if your just looking to have something get to 50 then it doesn't matter what you pick or how you slot it.
If your looking to have more functional lvl 50 toon, then it all matters. What you pick, what you slot, ETC. It matters more then another Arch Type because all the issues Masterminds have to deal with that other Arch Types do not. Further since Devs really do not address these issues, you will have to work and adapt a play style different then your normal play style. Masterminds are just very different and trying to control 6 pets is just great some days. Then there are days you want to toss the computer out the window hoping it crashes on top of devs head. Maybe then it will knock some sense into them. I have just about 4 or 5 level 50 Masterminds. But I deal with the quirks and have another 8 or 9 level 50s to play if things are bad for Mastermind on certain days. -
Quote:I don't have access to my builds atm. But I can tell you that just about any traps build from any set that is going for positional defense cap pretty much have all the same powers.. Traps for the most part can get defense cap on its own regardless of the primary set. I think you might need 1 power in your attacks to be six slotted with Thunderstrike for the range defense bonus. But beyond that its not an issue. Thanks a lot for all the responses! I think I'll play a traps/DP defender instead, thematically it's pretty much the same, and if /dev is THAT bad, I'd rather just get rid of it. This might not be the best place to ask, but do anyone have a sample build for a traps/DP defender?
I am positive you roll through a few pages on the Defenders forum you will find a Defense cap traps build. -
Sadly with all this work my AR Traps Defender is tons better at full positional defense cap and tier 2 slotted in Musculature and I picked up the Tier 1 Recharge Alpha just to check it out.
-
I would suggest this build.
I do not have the any of the LOTG+Recharge installed.
I do not have the Miracle +Recovery installed.
I am having endurance issues because of not having Miracle installed I think. I am currently working on Incarnate and will make my decision on what I want to do with my Alpha slot. Based on my endurance. I can also remove a Damage Range from Full auto dropping my damage down to 95% from 99% and placing another slot into Stamina.
Though I am happy with my damage against Minions, I cannot dent the AVs in the Incarnate mission in the Rikti zone, even at the lowest setting. I know AVs were not made to be soloed, but having toons that can solo them this threw me off. I can see running at 0/8 no bosses and being massive. My defenses worked very well against the AVs that at one point I fell asleep and woke up to the AV still trying to hit me.
Assuming the endurance issues are corrected. Eventually if you wanted you could 5 slot either Full Auto, or if you took the dam range IO out then Buckshot with a purple set and the Rag chance for knock down in Caltrops. That should bring you down to 18 second recharge on Full Auto.

The problem as I see it is DP is in your face attacks. Where as Archery and AR have more range. Further it is going to be in a perma group with a Grav Kin. Nutshell for Grav is 2 holds and 2 immobilize. Further Kinetics works on targets within range of the mobs.
I sort of image this as either he is dual boxing or 2 friends or whatever.
So if you have one player with holds and buffs. The 2nd player who is going to be a DP which has short range attacks compared to other arch types. Now combine that with Devices. Its gonna be tough. Look at Nethergoat thread about revamping his AR Device. Ar or DP and Device really take a lot of work to make it fit right when other duos do not need that much messing around.
Further, the best this player might be able to do is get Ranged at defense cap with a lot messing around. So now your forced into melee range to get a heal, which is a good heal as well from your Kin. Which now puts you in a weaker position. This issue also leads itself with Fulcrum Shift and Transference. Basically all your big Kinetic powers are forcing you into melee range with mobs in which you will have limited melee defense or typed defense.
So as I mentioned it would be best if the OP made a DP traps defender or corruptor if they were more inclined for higher DPS. But honestly I would go with the safer Defender for higher defense numbers and pick up Musculature from incarnate for the damage increase.
This way now the DP Traps can initiate the attacks and the grav kin can then follow up with a AOE hold or heal as needed. Further once triage beacon is down both will benefit from the regen. I would suggest the Grav Kin to build for some defense. I would further suggest that the Grav Kin position himself behind the DP Traps and not up close with him this way they benefit as well from the Triage beacon and FFG bubble but possibly out of AOE ranges and Cones. 3 slotted with LOTG or Red Fortune your getting 20% defense bonus. I do not think it would be hard for the the Grav Kin to pick up another 25% in defenses.
With Speed boost I dare say that even Time Bomb looks promising since speed boost gives you a 50% recharge increase.. You can get Time bomb down to maybe 60 or 70 seconds when its all said and done..
With DP Traps at full positional defense cap. You can walk into a group of 10 fire off Hail of bullets, they fall down.. You drop a trip mine.. Everyone is dead. Regardless mobs are fleeing atm. I would use bullet Rain to pull the next group of mobs and begin to lay down Time bomb. Those that were running will come back by this time killing them off. End result you do not need to chase after them.. They come back..
The whole key element here is the Grav Kin has to be patient to wait for the groups to come around the DP Traps. Once they are all there holds and heals and debuffs can be placed. Otherwise you will have mobs being held all scattered about, which defeats the whole purpose of the mass aoe attack style.
Another great thing about DP traps is if the Grav Kin should fall, the DP Traps doesn't have to sweat too much because the defenses should keep him alive. All he needs to do is move away from the dead Grav Kin bringing the aggro with him so the Grav kin can ress back up. A perfect time to ress up would be during Hail of bullets.
And finally I reiterate you cannot do all of this with Devices.. It is simply not possible. Like the song goes Anything Devices does Traps can do better. You cannot compare Taser, Target Drone, Smoke Grenade and Gun Drone to what Traps has as a replacement.
Target Drone, already proven that set bonuses nullifies this advantage.
Taser single Mag 3 hold. I have poison traps with lockdown and have double holds on all minions. And guess what the lockdown and poison trap stack which holds a boss. Plus I'm at defense cap. a boss hits me once every 10 swings. My Regen with Triage Beacon will heal that up before he gets through again.
Gun Drone, as nice as it is. I would take FFG 20% defense increase to all type and positional attacks and to boot I can add a LOTG+recharge in it.
Smoke Grenade requires at hit to perform its hit debuff, so it can miss and mobs and bosses loose nothing. The most your gonna get out of it is -7% to hit. Perception wise, Super Speed with stealth IO covers that issue.
Compared to Acid Mortar which without speed boost you can put 2 out, with speed boost you can probably put out 3 with a few seconds to spare.
I say forget about theme and go for the HOLY COW we can handle anything this game tosses at us.. Lets try to duo ITF.
I'm not trying to beat anyone down with this.. A part of me just hopes that some dev will come here read the thread and say " You know that Plainguy is a jerk, his grammar sucks along with his use of punctuations. But he really does make a point that Devices need to be upgraded." I really do hope I am here to see the day that Devices gets upgraded to the current state of the game. Or they should create a classic server before ED was implemented. Heck I would take no Invention sets either. At least then Devices would shine and find some greater use again. -
Remember you can squeeze 2% or a bit more out of Cloaking device suppressed. So all you need to see is 43% defense wise.
If you really wanted to be cheap you can use smoke grenade as a kluge as well. Just that will need to be refreshed every 50 seconds. You can get close to 10% defense between smoke and Cloaking Device. Honestly I am not crazy about using smoke this way. But I put it out there for people to consider and make there own decisions. -
Really in all seriousness do not make a Device toon with DP. Just look at all the AR Device issues and gripes and how guys are just trying to put purple sets into AR Device to make on par with another lesser costing build..
Make a Traps AR Defender and you will be at full positional defense cap and loving it..
All you need is a Traps defense cap build, becuase your other at will have no bearing in getting to defense cap. You can just slot up Traps and other powers like Maneuvers get defesne cap and then slot the rest into DP. You can make up for the lacking DP by going Damage Defense debuff in the incarnate system..
IF you hear they are going to update Device then I would wait.. But they are not and will not so go with TRAP and be happy. BTW you can go Corruptor also and just go good.
