DB / WP build - Little lost in the method..

Trying to figure out how to make this build. I am so geared towards defense cap with so many toons I sort of get locked in that direction..

After reading a bunch of threads on DB and on WP I sort of took some builds and mixed them in to make this..

Here are my thoughts on the build. Seeing as the defensive powers are geared towards type instead of positional I put some sets in to work with that. My defenses are from the 20s to the 30s .

I also tried to kick up the Regen of the build. With Rise to the Challenge active against 8 mobs my Regen is at 821% which comes to 61 hp per second. Looking at some defense caps toons I have there regen is in the 400% range. My beliefs are between the defenses and the Regen I should be okay..

I picked up Char for a hold.. They seem to come in handy during the Hami part in LGTF and just to help stack holds on a AV or GM when needed.

I picked up Melt armor for the AOE -Def and -Res and added a proc to it. And fireball as my ranged attack to pull mobs or kill running mobs..

So please tell me what you think.. I would guess I would go with Damage for a Alpha Slot..

Hmmm...I think your build could do better with the slotting, to give you better defense numbers, while still maintaining what you want. Here's my current build (I'm going to probably get rid of Hasten and replace it with Assault myself or a travel power)...to look over and make some changes to your build.

You might want to reconsider taking Nimble Slash. With Attack Vitals and Sweep most people don't use Empower and Weaken much anyway. You could take a travel power instead.
Drop Resurgence. If you want a self rez you can keep a Restoration in your inspiration tray. You could take Strength of Will instead. SoW might be situational but at least you can use it to mule a setIO from the resistance category.
Drop Hasten. It is completely superfluous on a DB/WP (you don't need much global recharge to run BF – Attack Vitals gap less).
Take Leadership Maneuvers and perhaps Tactics, too. This will help to softcap defense vs. S/L.
Drop Melt Armor. It's rubbish. Seriously.
You should consider dropping Blaze Mastery and taking Body Mastery instead. Physical Perfection is a nice add on to improve endurance management and gives some extra regeneration, too.

Slotting goals:

Try to softcap defense vs. S/L (45%).
Defense vs. E/N/F/C should be in 30s range, when you reach the S/L softcap. It is possible to softcap E/N/F/C, too (Eradication is the key). But you would have to give up damage in exchange.
Boost your hitpoints. This will also help with regeneration.
Don't bother with endurance too much. With Stamina + Quick Recovery + Physical Perfection you should be good.

Enhancements:

High Pain Tolerance should be slotted with IOs from the heal category to boost HP and regeneration. Give it 3 slots total, to have enough slots for other powers.
To get to 45%+ in S/L you'll need 5 sets of Kinetic Combat. Remember that you can slot them in Brawl and Boxing/Kick, too.
You'll probably need Obliteration in one or two of your PBAoE powers.
Blinding Feint is a part in the BF - Attack Vitals chain. You should slot it like an attack, not like a buff.
The 5th Reactive Armor IO is not really worth it, imho. Better use the slot somewhere else.
No Miracle unique? It's not that expensive. Get it! 3 slots total in FH should be enough.
Slot Indomitable Will with LotG: Def/End and the +7.5% recharge. Drop the 3rd slot.
Slot RttC with 3 Numina or Miracle IOs. Do not slot it with ToHit debuff.
With QR+Stamina+PP 3 slots in QR are probably enough.
A ResKB in Tough is a wasted slot. Indomitable Will gives all the KB protection you need. You could use it as a mule for the Steadfast Protection +3% defense and/or the Gladiator's Armor +3% defense. I would give it at least 2 slots total, to improve its +res and lessen the end cost.
Drop the Def/End from Combat Jumping unless you REALLY need the extra 0.3% for your defenses (Combat Jumping already has very very low end costs).

On the talk of Hasten, it can have it's uses.

1) Empower -> Sweeping Strike is suppossed to be an awesome DPS chain, but my testing of it hasn't shown it to be as such (on Pylon runs)...as such I'm personally dropping it from my build and getting Hover back.

2) It can be used as a psuedo Slow Resist. Won't cover being heavily hit by -RCH, but being hit by a little of it, Hasten can overcome it.

I do have to agree though...if you're going to take Sweep Combo, skip Nimble Slash (if you can make use of Empower -> SS).

It's useful for when exemping below lvl 21, but other than that, meh. Empower just isn't all that great in my experience and neither is Weaken.

There is benefit to having Fire Mastery, though I agree to skipping Melt Armor (it really is worthless). The benefit to taking Fire Mastery however, is having access to a range blast and a hold for the LGTF.

Resurgence is a give or take. It's actualyl a terrible self rez, as it doesn't work while in combat, but if you have the extra power pick, not all that bad.

Thanks for the insight and really just taking the time to type all that info out.. It is very much appreciated.

I come from Robot Traps, Traps AR, DP Kin. Basically a More support blasterish type of builds. I'm BIG into Defense Cap. Born again Defense Cap player here. I LOVE Traps for what it can do.

All that being said scrappers sort of scare me, I don't have my head wrapped around the mechanics of it.

Further I want to say I have no clue how resurgence got in there.. And I went for the Physical Perfection line but just thought about my recent no hold LGTF episode and was tired quitting because we had none. Been in 4 or 5 of those situations in the past few months.. Very annoying.. Maybe there is a temp hold I can make for those situations. Will have to look into that.

Finally I can clearly see you guys/gals know your DB chain attacks.. I don't have a clue about that either. Was wondering what was important and not.. Just trying to memorize the chains ( I know its not that many ) and what they do.

I do have 2 sets of kinetic Combat which I saved from other builds.. I might have to go the route of making LOTG + recharge, selling and then buying up the Miracle +recovery.. I might have to go the cheaper route then you guys do and then build up to a higher spec.. Let me see what I can work up and post for inspection..

I didn't work with the Miracle +Recovery because of the 180 million it was going for.. Just seemed to steep.. Many of my full defense cap builds go for that price, I was a bit shocked having to spend that price for 1 IO. hehe..

Well, BF-Attack Vitals, is enough ST DPS really (I'm clocking in at 180+ DPS on my build using that chain).

As it's easy to obtain, it's not hard to concentrate on your defenses.

My build currently uses the Body Mastery Epic Pool, but that's only untill I go rogue quick enough to pick up Mu Mastery (for concept reasons...though the same with you, I see the benefit of having a Range and a Hold...just sucks you have to redraw with DB).

I get by just fine without the Sweep Combo, but I did take Typhoon's Edge (BF-AV Combo-Typhoon's Edge-Repeat is my combo when dealing with mass enemies).

Asking, when you mean Blind Feint and Attack Vitals you are talking about this chart right http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Dual_Blades

Does that mean you have 1k Cuts ?

Wait I think I got what your saying now... I read it but didn't get it, even though you said it correctly.. What I was thinking is you were doing 3 combos. So you know where my mind is at.. But your not.. It is 2 attacks sandwiched by a Combo.. As you expressed it..

But getting back to 1k Cuts.. Being new to DB I do think the attack is cool.. But I'm getting the impression no matter how cool I think it might be its not work taking..

It's kind of cool, IF you don't mind being rooted for the 3.3 seconds that it takes to animate...and using those 3.3 seconds to crack jokes when you invariably miss...and when you miss, watching the martial artist on your team kick the boss what seems like sixteen times while you flail your arms around like a windmill....

On the other hand, if you're a willpower scrapper and your health bar is going downhill? Launching One Thousand Cuts en route to Sweep, and watching the incoming damage drop off while your health bar rebounds? I find that part TOTALLY cool!

I'm also working on the same goal as plainguy - though I'm a Brute. If the differences are too extreme or it's better form to create my own thread I'll gladly do so.

I tried to keep everyone's advice in mind here - particularly BrandX and Myriad - but I'm obviously deviating in places. That's probably why I'm missing the key to getting that last few % to softcap S/L and I've exceeded the F/C softcap. I'm sure that's where I'll need to change but I'm at a loss at what to alter it TO. I'm also wincing at the lack of +Dmg in my STM attacks, but am hoping Rage will counter that. Is there any hope for me?

I'm a fan of regen, so I might have obsessed a little about getting as many +HP and +regen bonuses as I could, and I also tried to get a good amount of +Acc set bonuses as well.

Here's my build. *cringe*

I'm a fan of +HP and +regen as well, but can't help but cringe on this end at the attack slotting. Five attacks with +64% damage and three with +87%? Both have procs, but still, I can't help but think that +64% and Fury is going to be less than +97% and Fury. (I'm guessing you meant "Fury" when you typed "Rage" above, since I don't see Super Strength anywhere in the build. )

I think you might be better off with a bit less defense and more offense, but that's just me. I'm also not completely sure about looking for +Acc when you've got a perfectly serviceable but underslotted Focused Accuracy power that I think is going to drain END like no tomorrow whenever it's turned on -- and without it, that Gaussian's is just sitting there, not firing.

Yeah, I did mean Fury. >_<

The toggles aren't any problem at all keeping up right now, and that's even without the Perf.Shift +End procs fully slotted. I do think I might replace the KD procs with the Dmg/End from that set, but I'm a fan of KD as a soft control so I wanted to see if I can get away with using them.

I am also considering taking a few slots out of High Pain Tolerance - I figure I don't need the Aegis in there - to give my STMs more Dmg.

Maybe it just LOOKS like more endurance than I'm used to -- as a brute, you've also got access to Superior Conditioning and one more +End proc than we scrappers can wedge in there!

And this is what I love about this game -- lots of ways to get to the same objective! Now personally, I figure that if I want knockdown all I need to do is alternate AV and Sweep, which should let me knock down the target one sixth of the time, the target and a surrounding cone one sixth of the time, and the target AND a nice circle AoE one sixth of the time. If I'm focused on the boss, and I usually am, that means he's getting knocked down and standing up too often to really get off many attacks.

Your way, you'd achieve the same thing, AND have a 20% chance of knockdown half the time, even if a combo failed, if I'm reading it right. I think I'd rather arrest things faster, but I'll admit that now I'm curious to see how that extra knockdown would work out!

*cringe*

Increased your S/L/E/N Defense, lowered your F/C Defense, with a NERVE Alpha Boost, you should be softcapped to all positions.

End Recovery is enough that you can run FA full time and still be gaining END.

BF -> Attack Vitals -> Repeat for hard single targets is also possible with this build.

I know the thread is kind of old but is there a reason kick was chosen over boxing?

I love the sweep combo it is the only combo I ever used on my DB/elec I started with the attack vitals combo but I hate Vengeful slice.

1k Cuts 3.3 seconds is not that bad because it is so easy to get 3-5 mobs in that cone no worse than some of the other aoe attacks

Yup! I just wanted to have kick instead of boxing. I swear everyone tends to pick Boxing over Kick for a set mule.

Other than that...nope.
