AR/Dev i19 Rebuild

Getting back into one of my favorite heroes, I've decided to overhaul their frankenslotted IO's. I've aimed to get as much Ranged defense as I could, followed by Smashing/Lethal defense, without sacrificing power I want or taking mule powers just for set bonuses.

I'm very happy with the numbers, both set bonuses and enhancement values, that I've come up with so far. Before I actually do the respec however, I thought I'd get some feedback in case there's something I've overlooked. Without further ado:

Your Scorpion Shield is over slotted so your not getting any bonuses from it for your Range Defense. You might as well take out at least the last slot and place it somewhere else. Go to Windows and click on Set & Bonuses to see where your over slotted.

I would look at Nethergoats thread on this as there are many builds up there with many different angles. It might give you some ideas.

To me personally I would skip fly and pick up a rocket pack for when needed. I would pick up Smoke Grenade even if its for the perception bonus.

*EDIT*
Of course Nethergoat sneaks with the link

I do have one 'theory' comment, which is emphasize ranged defense even if it costs you slightly in some other area. The ability to leverage Caltrops is one of the strengths of /dev, it lets you really get the most out of ranged defense.

Aha, so it is! That's the disadvantage of making builds at the end of the night, and the reason I posted it here. Thanks for that!

Edit: I moved four slots out of Scorpion Shield and into Health for the full set of Numina's. Still subject to change, but big bit of Ranged Def in there!

Remember you can squeeze 2% or a bit more out of Cloaking device suppressed. So all you need to see is 43% defense wise.

If you really wanted to be cheap you can use smoke grenade as a kluge as well. Just that will need to be refreshed every 50 seconds. You can get close to 10% defense between smoke and Cloaking Device. Honestly I am not crazy about using smoke this way. But I put it out there for people to consider and make there own decisions.

According to some of the commentors on my /dev guide, the -tohit from Smoke Grenade is *not* autohit, so keep that in mind if you're counting on it as part of your softcapping.

If it requires a hit check, I'm confidant that Targeting Drone and the accuracy bonuses I've got will make that work. The bigger question now is, does the -tohit stack from the same caster? I've never used Smoke Grenade before, come to think of it...

Edit: Here's the new build, ditched Scorpion Shield in favor of slotting in five LotG 7.5's. Added two more into Webnade for a little bit more recharge and ranged Def. Whether or not the 41.3% bonus recharge will have and real effect, I'm not certain.

I would suggest this build.

I do not have the any of the LOTG+Recharge installed.
I do not have the Miracle +Recovery installed.

I am having endurance issues because of not having Miracle installed I think. I am currently working on Incarnate and will make my decision on what I want to do with my Alpha slot. Based on my endurance. I can also remove a Damage Range from Full auto dropping my damage down to 95% from 99% and placing another slot into Stamina.

Though I am happy with my damage against Minions, I cannot dent the AVs in the Incarnate mission in the Rikti zone, even at the lowest setting. I know AVs were not made to be soloed, but having toons that can solo them this threw me off. I can see running at 0/8 no bosses and being massive. My defenses worked very well against the AVs that at one point I fell asleep and woke up to the AV still trying to hit me.

Assuming the endurance issues are corrected. Eventually if you wanted you could 5 slot either Full Auto, or if you took the dam range IO out then Buckshot with a purple set and the Rag chance for knock down in Caltrops. That should bring you down to 18 second recharge on Full Auto.

Sadly with all this work my AR Traps Defender is tons better at full positional defense cap and tier 2 slotted in Musculature and I picked up the Tier 1 Recharge Alpha just to check it out.

Thanks a ton for posting that build, plainguy! I took the two of ours and amalgamated them into the following; it boasts 61% Recharge (131% with Hasten), softcapped Ranged Defense, and has Ignite and Time Bomb (I'm very fond of both).

I am pretty sure the -tohit is autohit in PVE. Unless they changed it since I last checked it only requires accuracy in PVP.

According to RedTomax the -to hit is not auto-hit in PvE:

Like most debuffs it does not stack from the same caster.

Bit of an update.

That Miracle +recovery was 180 million.. I just didn't see me spending that on one IO for endurance..

I instead removed 1 slot from Full auto and made it all Damage Recharge and 1 slot from Combat jump. I then 3 slotted Stamina with Efficacy Adapter which with the end bonus from the set, it was better then just putting 3 Endurance IOs in it or buying that 180 million Miracle IO.. But sadly still wasn't enough endurance.

I was able to complete the Incarnate missions by auto completing the AV mission and got into a Mother Ship Raid which gave me the Vanguard merits and shards I needed to single slot for Cardiac ( Endurance ). It seems MUCH better now..

Though I just do not feel the awesomeness I get from my Traps AR Defender.. I have him to Tier 2 for Damage Alpha and solo in a mission with the 30% bonus and the Alpha I am doing A LOT of damage.

Which in turn makes me feel if I was going to purple anything out it would be the defender. Because he would benefit TONS more from the +Recharge that the purple sets offer.

Well whatever, sad panda face for me.. My AR Device is much better then it was, but not as good as it should be.
