I noticed that on my account it says $ 100 monthly limit on Paragon Market. I seen this why trying to compare and look up my veteran status.

Quote:I should have corrected my post, but you did it for me. I did look it up in the wiki afterwards ( should have not been lazy and did it prior to posting ). But just concurring with you it was 5 years.Travel power at 6 without prereq was 60 months, or five years. Five years is 25 tokens (20 badges + 5 years), plus the having-an-account token and having-a-retail-box token, for 27 tokens. How many total tokens do you have? (Not placed; total unplaced plus placed.)
Oddly enough I did check between the wiki and the badges and I ended up with the 72 month badge which is Distinguished badge.
I will have to check what my total is, but it does seem within range. I just wished they would just have make a chart or has some place that would point you to what you have so you don't have to waste your time guessing or even bothering asking.
It should have been here are you points, want to know how we figured it out click this link to see the chart. You log into your account and the chart posts based on what info they have on your account.
Again I will admit I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed sometimes. But if you point me at a direction am willing to read what you point me at. I just should not be guess or sending in a email to support to ask and getting back a email that they will respond back in 24 hours when its 2 days later. Or waste anyone's time on the forums asking these questions.
i21 makes me feel like I'm still doing beta testing on this stuff. -
One issue with Hover Blasting with DP is Hail of Bullets. Because of its short range you can do it while hovering and damage mobs below you ( I tested it out with a jet pack ), your still in just about melee range. So your really jeopardizing your life by getting in that close with minimal defenses.
What I have discovered and others probably new years ago because I'm that slow, is with a decent number for regeneration and being high enough your limit the attack cycle of the NPC's because your out of range of the more shorter attacks, thus the NPC's have a delay as they cycle only through the longer range attacks or trying to path to get into a closer range If your near some climbable objects. But being high enough and enough regen to get you through the hits you can competently handle 4/8 setting.
My DP guys are Corruptors one traps and one Kin. Traps offers the cap and Kin of course offers a mix of buffs, debuffs and heals as needed. -

I posted about this as well. They just seem too lazy to really try to explain and SHOW via a true large image what you get.
I just do not understand what the problem is. Honestly there are numerous games that have stores. One of them is even a superhero game as well. Even they show you images of what you get in a pack.
It always seems like someone is trying to reinvent the wheel but not getting it right. Copy what your competitor is doing and just improve on that. If it makes sense and no one is complaining about their store then it must mean they have been doing something right at least in that department.
Its like buying a car and the salesman reply when asked what options come with the car is " It has Stuff ".
I blame supervision or the lack there of, because I just cannot see how this could come out of Beta looking like Alpha. -

The character is either too big or the menu bars on the costume creation screen are too large.
Actually I think the costume menus are too large to be honest.
I just don't see the reason for such big goofy buttons. Especially when the sub menu buttons are the same size. -
Many of the items introduce just seem to lack documentation or a clear explanation. Even the Those new Combo IOs are confusing. I hesitated slotting them for a few levels trying to understand the numbers and such behind them. Then I gave up and just slotted them into my attacks.
There are no images on the paragon market for costume parts beyond the small icon images. Personally I am getting old and my eyes are going. Even with my Glasses I can't look at the image to get a clear understanding of what it might look like.
The market is not aware if I already purchased something or already have it so its allowing me to purchase items I already have. Well at least I can select them to purchase I should say. I didn't actually buy them. But they were in my shopping cart. -
Just prior to the patch I would have been I think 6 years ( Vet reward of picking up travel power without needing another pick prior ) on October. Now it says on my account 3 years and 6 months or something to that effect. VIP status wise I believe I am just at Tier 6 with 4 placements available.
Does this seem right ? Just seemed a bit off or I expected to be at least the almost done with Tier 6 at least and working on 7. -
Protector bots do not double bubble anymore. So YOU only get 1 bubble.
Rifle is for the set bonus. -
You cannot cast the power while not on the ground ....
Why I have zero clue. I just really don't get it and must be beyond my simple mind to comprehend. Or their thought process just does not go that deep. -
Sorry don't recall the name of the item that is suppose to increase your crafted IO beyond normal levels. Paragon market item.
But my point simply is If I can can craft a lvl 51 accuracy and then sell it on the market. Which up until now never existed. I could in theory possibly steal someones money that parked some funds on an IO that never existed for many years up until now.
Again I'm a bit naive to some market stuff but I have read in the past that people park money on those lvl 51 to 53 IOs because of the cap.
Or am I off on this one ? If not some players could become pretty poor overnight -
Quote:plainguy's build does not have enough end reduction for Demons or Demon Prince, these three pets use NON-PET DAMAGE abilities that burn end like crazy, albeit if they live that long or fight that long. Resistance shield and heals from ember and dominator style slows in Demon Prince are not damage attacks and the endurance reduction in Blood Mandate helps for -0- endurance.
I would sooner put the Celerity stealth bonus in sprint. You could put the Winter's Gift slow protection in your travel power.
I don't know I'm running a DS Pain, granted not a DS TA. But I don't see any endurance issues running on 2/8 setting on crey fire farm and I have hardly any attacks. I also have a semi petless masterind DS Trap ( last pet only ) that can run 2/8 on crey fire and don't see much issue with that pet there either.
Does the endurance drop ? Yes. Do the pets stop attacking or what ever it may be ? No. other wise I would be pretty hard pressed soloing the crey farm with no pets or pets that are not attacking.
Putting a stealth bonus in sprint ? Again I don't know..
Why would you want to have sprint on and super speed if your looking to stealth when you could just have super speed on and benefit from the stealth bonus in one shot and not worry about the extra endurance drain. Having the Stealth IO in sprint will not afford you any sort of stealth that mobs will not see through. Its the combination of having stealth IO and the stealth component of super speed combined that offer that near invisibility against mobs other then sniper and drones. At least for me it works on all my toons.
As far as winters IO, I have to concede ignorance. I just have not noticed any -recharge mobs that caused me that many issues that would warrant that IO set.
But to each their own. -
Okay came home pulled out my build.
I have done AVs with this toon but GMs are an issue. So I spoke a bit out of term in my original post.
Defense cap wise I am defense cap with protectors bots base 7.5% bubble. But with double bubble The pets are still short by 2% or so. I needed Nerve Radial Paragon to bump up my defenses so my bubbles will now completely defense cap my pets.
Without trying to play around with the protector bots and slotting for defenses I am talking off the cuff now. I would guess slotting them for defense will increase the bubble they offer. Just off the top of my head I do not know that exact number, for some reason 12% stick outs. But I'm just guessing.. So what I loose from set bonuses I might get back from protector bot bubbles and those double bubbles might cap out the pets and I might not need Nerve Radial Paragon incarnate.
If someone wants to pass an number for protector bots bubbles slotted for defenses then I can do the math.
Here is my current build, I have incarnate turned on.

I will definitely look at what I got when I get home. I know someone was short defense cap wise. Maybe you can post your build and show me where I went wrong.
-
Quote:You know I was thinking of GM when posting.. I had issues with Scrapyard which did the same as you babbage. I believe its that whole triangle thing of being up and down.. Whats it called again ?I have killed a couple AVs before with Force Field, with Robots.
Are you talking about Demons/Force Field?
AVs aren't exactly that tough always, and GMs are tougher still.
I was just wondering if Demons would be easier and kill more AVs than Robots probably could.
You will be short I believe a few points in one positional type defense. Again I need to look it up on my other machine. -
I have not looked at the builds
What I would suggest is Range cap, Hover blaster to limit the Knockback to Knock down while firing from above.
IF this is your only 50 or your main 50 I would attempt to make it as group friendly as possible as Energy Energy already has some bad rep from all the KB.
On top many new players will be picking this up not knowing the issues and hurting your chances of getting a team possibly when freedom goes live as you will be lumped in with "those guys".
Build wise I will not bother as there are more then enough threads already on energy / energy and its not like you have 20 different choices build wise. -
Quote:How it got it just to work a few moments ago.Plainguy, by "restarting the client" do you mean the launcher? Because restarting the launcher worked for me (OS10.6.8), it had to patch itself before it could properly patch the game.
---Dave
I went to launcher settings and configured it for ask for update and then while it was trying to download this phantom update ( nothing was happening ) I clicked on check for updates in the nclauncher control panel.
That then took over cancelled that update and restarted a new update. -
Yo Z don't say okay hurl insults and then delete postings that do. Otherwise don't give the okay.
nonetheless this is the error
Download failed! Error - The operation couldnt be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.) (null)
On 10.6.8
I tried restarting the client and other manual sort of options. I'm not comfortable deleting my preferences until someone from CoX gives the okay. I want someone to be semi responsible when it crashes my whole OS or something. -

You will not be able to kill a AV with FF. But the upside is they will not be able to kill you. I have tried several times and the best it ends up being is 1/2 way marker before you run out of temp debuffs ( envenom dagger ) to toss at the AV or GM. You just do not have enough potent sustainable debuffs.
The next issue would be I guess that demons offer some decent debuffs. But the problem is FF will not offer them defense cap. Since Demons are a mix of melee and range not being capped for pets will end up with death for your pets from AOE attacks either PB or ranged.
Which brings you to Robots which is nice since the protector bots offer the bubble you need to obtain defense cap all around. Actually you might be a bit short by a few points. I think Cardiac alpha offers the defense buff.
But your back at that point of not having enough debuffs to get AVs past the 1/2 way marker. Again I'm assuming solo.
Only thing I can think of is using Incarnates to help you out. Which in that case Robot FF would be the best bet since you start off capped with them and your just looking for as much debuff as possible. Maybe with incarnate pets as well. -
* /em Points down at Sig. *
Everyone has posted some good advice. But I think you need to understand why those numbers are important and how the game works behind the scenes.
Its also important when someone comes here and post misinformation. I cannot tell you how many times someone comes to the forums posting some crazy build and then tells you how they soloed 12 AVs and 3 GMs all at the same time with just Caltrops.
Understanding the numbers will allow you to see the math inside the builds and make an educated choice for yourself.
As far as the IOs go. It's going to be tough at first since your not familiar with all the IOs but eventually you will start to know I am looking for Range defense and I have a stun power, which set is that. Or I need to slot this melee power to get recharge. Again that will come over time.
The great thing is the wheel has already been invented here. You are not going to discover that secret build that no one else ever thought about making. For the most part your build for your AT and powers will look pretty like another players build minus a few powers here or there depending on your goals.
As an example if your looking for defenses, you are pretty much keyed into going a particular direction and picking up certain powers. If your looking for recharge again your keyed into a certain direction and powers.
Also as a controller you cannot expect for example to get defense cap and high dps. Its just not going to happen.
Again another thing you need to understand some powers just have better IO options then other powers. For example Traps very easy to obtain full positional defense cap ( I know not a controller power choice ). But on the flip side trying to get Range cap on a device Blaster is extremely limited and your pretty much pigeon holed into 1 direction. So if I meet another device blaster that said they were defense range capped then I know pretty much a large core of there power choices, because they will be the same as mine for my Device Range cap blaster.
Also the bonuses from IO sets offer other things like duration. So a power that hold might start off holding for 12 seconds but after it is all said and done with all your IO slotting you might have kicked up that hold duration to 20 or 30 seconds. But the recharge might only be 11 seconds. So now you literally have a power that will last longer then the recharge. So you can hold a NPC indefinitely.
As others have mentioned these are the things you need to consider when creating your controller.
Another thing you need to understand why -Tohit Debuff is is helpful but it is not as good as defenses. Though they are pretty much calculated the same way. The short simple answer is -Tohit Debuff can be resisted by mobs.
Hope this helps out -
After messing around a bit with TA you come to discover there is not much you can excel for. I guess you could go for recharge but resistance alone is not going to help you out. There just enough damage types that even trying to get a decent number with S/L your going to encounter too much typed damage and none or limited heals to recover.
My concept went with Range cap with Provoke followed by recharge and then Oppressive Gloom for those moments mobs get too close and personal with you. I cannot express how well Oppressive Gloom works. If anything I would suggest a quick trip over to test and just respec one power into oppressive gloom and run into a bunch of mobs and see.
Sadly your short on range cap which is what flash arrow will give you.
I also picked up Poison arrow not for the sleep which we all know never happens but for the defense debuff it gives.
I gave you super speed with stealth IO so you can turn on super speed and hover stealth around missions and also gives you a chance to set up your attacks from above. You can open up your attacks and then drop super speed. It is also good for running into combat with Oppressive gloom on. O.G. will also help mitigate attacks against the pets.
The other reality is your going to have to accept the fact that you cannot run 4/8 settings on this type of toon. I have a DS Pain and I have tested it out as well against different settings. 2/8 and 3/8 seem to be the best and safest I can do with my DS Pain.
I would probably go with spiritual to get Oil slick up as much as possible.
Again not that many options with trick arrow.

Is this an old toon or a new toon ?
Mainly solo or group ? Reason I ask is group fly. Group fly is a solo power and you will get complaints about having group fly on. You will even get complaints about the hit debuff penalty that it no longer has because people just don't know. Its cool looking but they need to fix how it works. One day...
I think those PvP heal IOs are very expensive. So those IOs alone will cost you some decent money. This might be a billion INF IO build...
Again might is the key word since I did not look at the market to see what those Panacea are going for.
Storm is endurance heavy, so your going to have to pick up cardiac incarnate eventually to make it easier for you. You will probably have no choice in the matter honestly.
I pulled out an old storm demon summoning build and swapped in robots. Its a crappy build and you can do better without a doubt. I started to rework the build my mind isn't into it atm.
So my point in posting it, is just to give you an idea and direction.
If your gonna pick up aid self I would not slot any extra in aid other and keep it as a personal heal.
Your pets will give you an additional 7% defense from the bubble unslotted for defense. So some of the slotting again for defense is overkill.
The build as is will put you at Range cap and AOE cap and your melee will be in the low 30s. Hurricane which is only going to affect those in melee range will put your defenses way up against those mobs in the hurricane.
Again Hurricane is another power your not going to have on that much in a team unless your fighting an AV.
So I would go for Range cap and standard Tankermind concept.
When solo I would provoke mobs into me and have steamy mist and Hurricane running at first then turn off steamy mist once the mobs charge in. This way attack against your range cap and then are hit with the hurricane debuff when they touch it.
With storm it's going to be all about trying to corner and contain mobs of course.

A no crash nuke has to pretty much conform to what is currently the standard otherwise it will not work as it will seem unfair to many.
So no crash does equal less damage.
Just like many of the AOE and Cones where standardized across the sets and also a bunch of other powers like twilight grasp for Masterminds for example.
Trying to justify something different then what players expect or have some negative effect that will allow for any easy way to counter is not going to sit well with players who might not have picked that power set specifically because of the crash.
I think the best and less player base complaint route would be to just conform to the crash less nuke options currently available and that everyone is familiar with.
Allow for players to change this option at the trainer just like we do builds.
