Quote:Tanks got a buff more recently.Well, I'm gonna be the snarky one...
Oh, so today it's blasters that have the problem again?
Are you sure it isn't the tanks day (cause Brutes to it better)? Or Scrappers (cause brutes do it better)? Or Brutes (cause tanks or scrappers do it better)? Or Defenders (cause Corrs do it better)? Or Khelds (because everyone does it better)?
Oh, it is Blasters day? Yeah. They suck. Must be lame being about being able to softcap and push the highest pure DPS in the game..
OK. snark aside..
The problem is that the game is still, in some fictional alternate universe, based around SOs.. But a notable percentage of the games population don't rely on just SOs. And as long as comparisons are made between SOed alts, and IOed/Incarnated alts, you're going to have folks that feel seriously deficient, regardless of what alt you are playing.
And I don't know what the solution is to try and bridge that gap. I think upping the baseline performance may be part of the solution, but I think that should be done with extreme caution... -
Quote:Personally, I would vote for 2001 (1968) as the movie that kicked off the "modern" Sci-Fi movie.Aliens and Star Wars (1977) marked the beginning of modern Sci-Fi movie. These two movies, especially Aliens, have more realistic imagery than the 50s and 60s. Star Wars had more "realistic" spaceships, and Aliens continued the trend to where we now see hyper-realism in film.

Was on 2 14 player full Magi runs (no pets), he went down fast, probably faster than the AVs in MoM or TPN.
-
Well, there are people who will say no MMs.
-
I'm glad the 16 buff cap was a mistake and will soon be patched, maybe people will run complete trials now. (assuming of course people haven't been conditioned to just quit after 250 IDF now)
-
I'm glad we finally get word that the 16 buff cap is wrong and it will be changed to 255.
Hopefully, fixed on live soon(tm) -
There are players who would have a fit if you said "Magi trial forming no MMs, pst" However, if you go "Magi trial forming, pst" but screen to make sure the invitees are not MMs, its the same thing and people don't know.
-
It doesn't take that much skill to screen what AT someone is and verify that they are not a MM. Certainly, someone who reads forums enough to know about the 16 buff cap is skilled enough to screen.

The 7750 is a lower end UM capable card that does not require a PCI-E supplement power. Its not a bad card, just slightly overpriced vs. its older siblings which offer more performance for less money.
These transition periods are actually the few times were buying certain old generation computer parts can be a bargain, if you do some shopping/comparing.
Edit: the 7750 has to use the newer AMD/ATI drivers vs the 5xxx/6xxx series, that may or may not be a problem for some folks. Some of the older drivers are "more stable" and the 7xxx series must use new drivers. YMMV. -
Quote:I don't know what your old card is, but the GT520 is an AWFUL card for gaming. Its performance level is about par with a card like a 6600GT from like oh 8 years ago.I just recently picked up a GT520 it was only 50 bucks! wasn't much of an improvement from my old card but it did have a fan as opposed to the AMD i was running with only a heat sink... any whose.. I can say that the drivers it runs list as GT6xx so i would say latest 'word' is true

Quote:Not really a good choice unless you are PSU limited.I was looking at the Radeon 7750 for $109. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121633

Well, if a video card swap is too much trouble, how about a hard drive swap?
Buy a new HD, keep your old one handy....Install windows (don't activate it) and install CoH. Do you still get errors?
Try that.
I see you on Triumph Watch once in awhile, so you getting on with a different rig? -
The next generation cards have been out for a few months. AMD 7xxx series and Nvidia 6xx series. However, there are good bargains for AMD 6xxx series and Nvidia 5xx series
Here you go
AMD
6770 its somewhat old, its a rebadge of the 5770.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150560
$80 AR
The 6850 is a much beefier card and based on the 68xx Barts core.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150573
$135 AR
Nvidia
560 SE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130770
$130
There is a 550Ti but its only $10 less than the 560 SE so not enough bang for the buck.
560
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130664
$170
If you want to get the most performance under $100 get the 6770, If you want the best deal get the 560 SE or 6850. -

I currently have a Nvidia Geforce GT 240 and I am thinking about going to the GT 440. Is there a big enough difference between these two cards to warrant a change?
NO -
This isn't the place to ask the question.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Rad...M.43843.0.html
120 Stream processors should be still based on the "old" 5D architecture similar to the 5000 series.
That's your answer. Its a weaker card than a 6450 with 160 SP. That card can't play UM.
If you want a laptop that can play UM "well", expect to pay $1500. Oh, and add in $100 for a high end laptop cooler because gaming laptops are hot enough to fry burgers. -
uninstall the whole catalyst software.
Load the new software. The more recent AMD updates past 11.9 have reports that CoH doesn't like crossfire. I don't have a dual gpu setup to test it nor do I want a dual GPU setup.
On the question as to upgrading or not, are you having issues with your current software that you need to? Have you looked at the updates to see if there are any improvements in the software you use? If the answers to both of these questions are "no" then don't mess with it. -
Quote:I don't disagree, all of the MAG runs I have seen after the first couple real attempts I was on early in the day have all been 250 IDF farms. Not the same.
This isnt any faster, easier or more fun than a lam or a baf?
So its never going to be run for components, so once the farming phase is over its going to the attic.
Also because players have gotten a bad taste in the mouth because of this, its not going to work.
I can live with that, I was getting my ixp 20-25% in 7 minutes. I plan on this being SOP until the devs adjust things to be more PUG friendly. The question is, how much damage will be done in the meantime.
I know I'll be doing as many of these farm runs as I can until the trial is closed down because of all the whining about people all quit after 250 IDF.
All the devs have to do with this trial is tone down the -regen resistance and increase the time for well connections to reappear. -
Quote:Can you beat it on live with 14?Indeed. If it is not league wide/zone wide, I feel bad for not catching that in beta. If they are zone wide/league wide, they are eminently noticeable, there is monitor in the window showing how many lights are out.
I was on a small, impromptu league after the regen resistance was added. (on 4/27/12 and it is in the patch notes) but before the Quills became insta-gank. The regen resists were on beta for over a month before it went live. Care to histrionic more?
We won with modest difficulty (we actually tried for about 4 minutes to do it without killing the lights with predictably poor results). The league had a few that had never done it and we were running with only 14 people. It was done in the early AM EDT.
Once we started keeping the lights out and avoiding the lightning, it was hard, but manageable. On a PuG league, not optimized, with new people to the trial. -
The early LAM runs were like that. Players would clear all they could for iXP because too often the trial would fail because of people not using acids/grenades. As time went on, players got better with temp powers. Now we have high risk slams for getting drops.

Quote:The WS gets much of its damage from fluffies. Yes, it will go in one of the AoE KB attacks. GE since I like the stun and it looks nice, but too much KB.I want an IO that will transfer other peoples KB to *my* powers! >.> And then one that will let me transfer the extra KB over to whatever EvilGeko is playing, just to see if I can get him to do a Kirk-esque "Khaaaaaaaaaaannn!" in response.
(OK, serious question though... putting the IO on the shade where, gravitic? Or one of the Nova blasts? Just out of curiosity, since KB is usually a PB complaint, not a shade complaint.)
I'll be happy to give you all my KB just trade me your KD and we will both be happy. -
You need to start here and visit Mr. Hyperstrike.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=231628
Next, you need to tell us as much as you can about your machine, enviroment and what you were doing in game. Until I see CoH helper I won't even bother taking the post seriously as I am not Karnak.
It would be like coming onto auto repair forums and saying "my car is broke"
Trying to get meaningful info is like trying to get blood out of a stone. Please don't force us to resort to arm twisting to get info to help you.
(At some point, its like, why bother?) -
I play a WS and the KB to KD IO will help make my WS be even better.
I don't play a PB because it does too much KB. I'm hoping the KB to KD IO will improve things enough so I can play it again. -
The no message "bug" is from someone not qualifying for MAG. They are missing Lore or Destiny.
Go to DA its much easier to check.
If they are level 53 they are gtg. If not, you have to check. I sometimes have other team leads check their team for people who might be short on the requirements. -
I agree with Snow Globe, they overdid it.
We heard the same thing about Keyes when it first came out....Same with Underground. Looks like Magi trial will end up getting "changed" too.
Beta gets some of the best players out there, once it goes to the masses on live...
