So has anyone done a Martial Arts / Willpower guide? Or doesn't anyone think this is a good combo?
-
Well, interesting build if you are level 50, what do you do to get there though? What powers when, what kind of slotting? Why do you want the powers you chose?
Guides need more info. -
So did I pick a really bad combo? I have been playing a Invuln/Mace Tanker. Only for a little bit, but I find absolutely not one guide to this, which I find amazing. It's like folks don't acknowledge that this combo could exist.

Well folks this kind of thing happens when servers get "known" for something. I have never really spent much time on Freedom, due to the constant yellow status. Saw that as an invitation to lag. So I played mostly on Infinity, however couldn't find a lot of RPers there. So I find out that Virtue has the majority of RPers so I go there and play. My enjoyment increases, I get people to team with who actually give a dink about character developement and concept. Not just a Video Game to most of them. But, with that comes times like this weekend when you get lag and dc's, but I find I am enjoying the game more.
If another server had a large number of dedicated RPers then I might consider playing there, however this does not seem to be the case.
Perhaps the devs should look into how to have the population spread out more without lowering enjoyment. That would be a monumental task for any game company.

Just to lob a quick bomb to the Devs. Remember not every player reads the Forums and even less post. Just a quick reality check put in the mail to ya.

Don't be dissin' on Toontown. I found it to be kind of fun when I tried it out.

Yes my daughter wanted it for Christmas and so I now have a character on it too. Colonel Bonzo Doggengoober...a guilty pleasure for the old man who grew up with Looney Tunes every Saturday Morning and the Wonderful World of Disney.

Ummm guy...you are on the MOST populated server in the game and to top it off I bet you are on during the busiest hours. Those of us not tied to one server with a similar build to yours are not having any trouble. I stay away from Freedom server like the plague. Maybe your server selection is part of it. So while I agree they need to find a way to address those issues of how many folks are on a server at once. I think your response is WAY over the top. I won't write Marvel as I believe that Cryptic is exactly who should be making their game.
Oh and I bet "everyone" you talk to is on Freedom also? Hmmm?
That's my two cents.
Dark Equalizer -
Well I am going to put in my two cents and hope I don't get flamed too badly. First of all I will say outright that I am a conservative at heart. I believe that there is right and wrong. I believe that children have to be taught that there are absolutes that shouldn't be crossed. That is why I and my children love this game. Because the lines aren't grey here. They are clear. And the violence that happens in this game also has a purpose. It isn't like those games that glorify killing police officers. Not like Scarface and other games.
If you want to find something to blame Columbine on, how about not teaching children that there is right and wrong. That killing is bad. That you should have an internal governor that keeps you from doing things like that.
I identified with the kids who committed the Columbine crimes in the fact that I was picked on and bullied in school and was treated like dirt by kids who thought they were better than me. If I hadn't grown up in a home that taught me right from wrong in absolute terms (not today's your truth is your truth and my truth is my truth moral relativism) I might have done what they did. I know there were times I felt that upset about how I was treated.
What I am trying to say is these people are pointing there fingers in the wrong direction. It isn't the TV shows and the games. It's the foundation of the people effected by them. Otherwise all people who play the really terrible games would be homicidal maniacs.
These folks want a scapegoat for bad parenting and no foundations for a lot of young people. COX is not it. Even the rest of the games aren't the real problem.
That's my view on it.

I happen to like the guides that include builds based on the information. See for me the problem is what to pick when to optimize what my character will be capable of. I realize that movement and pool powers are optional, but the rest is extremely helpful and those builds have increased my enjoyment of certain AT's as well as the game in general.

Just to give you an idea of what I am talking about here is what he looks like

Let me know if there is a fix to this

Hi Jay,
I have a character on Liberty server for whom the upper arms have disappeared.
He is using the Jacket Option
Open Jacket
Sleeveless
with a Dress Shirt Underneath
Actually it doesn't matter which shirt I put underneath. His lower arms show but his upper arms are gone and I can see through his sleeveless jacket into his chest.
His name is Uncle-Sam on Liberty Server. Please help!

Actually, one more quick note. Why should everyone be able to get Stealth anyway? Seems more like an AT or AT Power Set to me. Kinda like Stalkers on COV. After all. How may Stealthy Blasters do you see in the comics? Or Stealthy Tanks for that matter? Some things make more sense if taken in a different context.

But ultimately, stealthing through a glowie-only mission should be considered an alternative, but still valid, method to complete some missions. Why do heroes and villains have to fight their way through everything? Answer: they don't -- and shouldn't. If anything, CoH/V could stand to have more missions that require more creative problem-solving, besides simply "defeat all". But that's a topic for a different thread.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quite correct. Some heroes are made to go in a bash baddies (Tankers & Scrappers), Some Control them to get what they need. Why is Stealthing not a respected alternative. Batman didn't always fight the bad guys. Sometimes he just broke in and got what he needed and left and saved bashing them for a more opportune time...after all we don't all come with fabulous defenses. Of course this could take me off on a rant about the AT system and why it prevents you from imitating certian types of comic book icons...but we won't go there.

Just so I am clear...because the idea that was put forward by Positron, got changed on the implimentation level (likely so that it would work in the first place) everyone feels that it isn't worth it to them on a personal level?
I'm sorry...but this game is not SWG, it's not EQ, it's not WoW...if people want to play those games, they should play those games.
I do a lot of work to help the SG I am in grow and prosper, and I personally don't like the idea that people want the game made easier to solo. If you want access to the better functions of a base...Join a larger SG.
I do not comprehend why everyone seems to think that this game should be designed around their own personal situation, as opposed to how the Devs can maximize and improve the game in the way that THEY envision it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I realize this is after the fact...by a bit...but I had to address this. This game is supposed to have been created to give us the feel of being comic book superheroes or cartoon superheroes. Until Justice League Unlimited or with the possible exception of the Legion of Superheroes. What super hero organizations have over 20 active members at one time? Go ahead. Give me a list. That is why it should be made so that groups of 10 or so Supers can get together and form a team and make a difference and what about the host of supers in the comics who have a base of their own and are solo? Batcave anyone? Fortress of Solitude? Okay so this is a computer game. But to be like the Genre it is supposed to emulate and to cater to the players who are the ones looking for that Genre they need to develop according to those lines. Solo play is very Genre like. So is some team play for mega baddies like the TF's and GM's...but it is not normative to the Genre. I would say that if the Fantasy style games are geared to solo they are the ones going against Genre convention not this one.
That is my Rant.
