Quote:I'd hardly even call it more realistic. Especially as they walk right back to where they ran from, somehow forgetting the guy who just melted all their friends that they were so terrified of 60 seconds before. Or when the Freakshow tank books it, yet his little buddies bravely fight on. Or when a robot or zombie decides it just wants to live so bad, its gotta make a break for it. The run "logic" takes me out of the game every time I encounter it, and like you said is just a chore that adds nothing to the game aside from switching targets and waiting for the runner to walk right back to you. Would like to see Castle expand on what exactly the "runners" are adding to the game. Maybe if they ran to get help, or ran into a door to "escape" it would make a bit more sense.I'd be more than happy if they got rid of the run AI logic completely. Yes, it's more realistic, but I have never had any mob run away from me and thought, "Gee, see how much more fun it is to chase this mob down instead of it fighting me straight up?"
Sometimes more realistic <> more fun. Especially when it seems to be rather broken, anyway. -
Quote:I'm not sure why more time would make you crazy... unless your personality has REALLY changed over the past 20-30 yearsI see what you're saying there but the biggest problem with immortality is that as finite beings we are not designed to cope with it. People change in attitude and thought quite dramatically over their three score and ten, and I notice in myself as I get to the half-century how differently I perceive the world compared to 20 or 30 years ago. Multiply that by a factor of even a couple of hundred and you'd have one messed up person
My worldview has remained rather constant over my lifetime. I'd imagine it would continue to do so, as just being able to see what happens next is one of my main interests in life. Heck, even the outliving friends/loved ones wouldn't bother me. I already am doing that. Its sad, but I think the possibility of watching your entire family tree move forward down the eons would be awesome. Immortality would be a dream come true for me. Of course, I'd like an "exit" button. Don't want to just be sitting on a dead earth for billions of years.
I'd imagine you'd forget a LOT. Just thinking of my own life, so many details are gone. I don't recall any of my grade school teachers for instance. Only a few Junior high and high school ones. And I spent a LOT of time with those people. Of course, my great grandmother who died at 101 could recall many events from her life with clarity right up to the end. Be interesting to see what at age 1000 or more you'd remember of the pre 100 years. -
Its in your vet badges... just not at the bottom of the list where it should be. I think mine showed up somewhere around a 50-some month badge? So scan up, you should see it. Appears off in the character info badge list too.

Mine was a Bots Mastermind/Thugs Mastermind. I basically needed to do nothing, and my clone beat the crap out of Ajax and all the longbow reinforcements by herself. Well, by herself including a small army of summons! Wish she'd come with me on all my missions
-
Phew! Be nice if they gave a pop up for that in game since I've been to that section of the boards just shy of never.

Wow and I thought I was going crazy. Didn't think to keep track of data, but I do know that I was working through paper mission in PI set at x8/+0 and x8/-1 on two different characters. On my first character (x8/+0) I went through 3 paper missions. Wasn't really checking my recipes/salvage during this time but before I went to my 4th mission I decided "Better see what I got, don't want to fill up during the mission!". I had... one (1) lvl 50 recharge IO. After three missions set at +8. So I went to my second character and started things up, this time keeping track as I went. Did two missions with him, and got one recipe from mission complete. Then I logged off, and remembered today to check the forums and see if I was imagining things

A week ago it was working fine (well, fine enough. red spike every minute or more... so playable). Today it started up again with force. Just in time argh. Haven't contacted the ISP yet... usually a waste of time as in the past they "don't support" games or some such nonsense, and the problem sorts itself out in the month or more it would take to get them in action.
-
Yep have had this same issue for the past 3 weeks or so. I'm on victory server. Prior to that, never even saw a red spike on my netgraph. Now I have nearly unplayable levels of redspikes. West coast servers still run like a dream for me... of course, thats not where I have my characters :P I'm in Virginia... so the East coast ones should be just great for me. My tracerts to coh servers are great, up until the point where whatever machine refuses pings. So nothing I can see to trouble shoot. I've put in a ticket today, as my frustration at this happening again right at double exp weekend is quite high grrrrr.

Yes, there are some powers that might look great with transparency like Invul and Regen but you won't be able to see if a toggle is on or off without looking at your icon or tray. If there is still a faint outline of the FX, then it could work.
[/ QUOTE ]
I already look at the tray for my powers, and the aura FX cause me nothing but annoyance. Devs, if you give me a "none" option for auras I will be soooooo happy. It is the one thing I have asked for since day one of this game. If a player still want a powers aura, they can make one of any color they like with this system. Just please let those of us who are sick of charging into battle glowing like a Christmas tree turn it allllll off. -
So do the defense bonuses work even when they are in powers not "on" or recently activated? Or would you just turn on sj, then turn on cj every couple minutes?
-
I tried running the network information tool... wondering what the point is when it can't ping the various CoH ip addresses either :P Although it shows no real slowdown and no packet loss until it hits addresses it can't ping past, at which point it is 100%
-
Yeah, i've got no red spikes right now on my netgraph... nor did I yesterday morning. But the second it hits "prime time" I get nailed. Here's hoping its fixed tonight
-
Well the neterrorcorrections didn't do anything. still getting fairly regular red spikes in the netgraph. Everything in my network seems fine... my round trip pings to various websites are all in the 55ms or less range with no packet loss and my download/upload speeds are all smoking fast. On some of the CoH pings I did that would allow me to see past the 6th hop I could see the ms jump from 10-20 to 100+ and stay that way for the next several hops before it hit the Limelight i suppose. I think I'm just in a waiting game hoping whatever is going on at the 12th hop gets fixed lol.
-
Wow thanks
Quite a few of those I can't get past hop 6.. however a few of the IP addresses that can get past hop 6 show a big spike in ms (from 10 up to 100+ and it stays that way) until it gets to a point where it reaches 100% packet loss. So I guess there isn't much I can do, as the issues are well outside my area :I
-
For the past week I've been getting periods of rather heavy packet loss on all my computers on my network. I've tried to ping cityofheroes.com but the ping plotter declares that "Destination is unreachable" and gives 100% packet loss right after the sixth hop. I'm able to ping google, download.com, and other websites just fine and get speeds of 55 or so ms round trip. Anyone have any more IP addresses I can ping for COH???

Alright, but we do know that he is just a Hero (in realitive terms) there. Which means he answers to someone. So sort of Nazi Cabal or more likely just one man. Reichsman probably attacked us thinking we were a serious threat and went through trying to crush us.
So why hasn't anyone come looking for him? Or why hasn't some Amerika Korp troops the 5th recuited (some of those missions must have succeeded) or that are sitting in the Zig looking for him? I mean, Recluse must have released some of them by accident when he broke into the Zig.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why does he need to asnwer to anyone? Perhaps he killed Hitler, Requim and anyone else who stood in his way and said "I'm in charge, any problems? no? good". Perhaps there were no other superhumans on his planet besides him and as such there were nothing anyone on that Earth could do to stop him? He may simply have moved well beyond Statesman's role and become his worlds Nemesis.
Why didn't anyone come looking for him? Maybe because they are happy to be rid of him (especially the number two guy!). -
Statesman's cape = "Look, he REALLY isn't Captain America now!"

How about revamping task forces to make them, I dunno, actually fun instead of a series of normal missions with a worthless reward at the end? When I want to group, I usually do trials, I have a lot of fun with those. When I want to solo, I should be able to do my missions at my leisure. Want more grouping done? Make some cool grouping activities. I've always been interested in having a trial where you fight ALL the Praetorians at once
