What do you feel would be an understandable reaction on my part in that case? Paying them to install a DVD player so that they can maybe have the resources to install that DVD for someone else in the future?
I think a more accurate, though admittedly still imperfect, analogy would be that you buy a minivan with the promise that you will get a gift certificate worth $1200 that you can use at the dealership at any time for anything from car washes, to routine service, to upgrades such as a DVD player. A few days before the van arrives the dealership calls you up and tells you that the manufacturer recently changed the terms of the promotion. Now, instead of one $1200 gift certificate upon delivery, you'll get a $100 gift certificate every month for a year. You can save them and they are good for all the same things, you just can't spend the $1200 immediately.

Now that might be disappointing from an instant gratification standpoint (it is for me with the recent rewards announcement), but is it a reason to cancel the minivan altogether? It wouldn't be for me, but I don't have to ride around with annoying whiny little kids in my car. lol
  2. Also, isn't 12 AM to 11 PM twenty three hours? That's a lot longer than nine or ten hours.

No, according to the official announcement as of this posting, they are starting an hour earlier, but they've increased the expected downtime from 9 hours to 10 hours, which means the same expected 1 PM Pacific time wrap-up.
  4. I'm disappointed, but since it's still better than the once/quarter reward schedule, I can live with it.

I guess my question is this - will we have earned any Reward Tokens right away? I know we started getting Paragon Points in July, but did we start earning Reward tokens then too?

Since my next billing cycle isn't until the beginning of October, it would be nice to know I don't have to wait three weeks before receiving any tokens.

Hopefully the next time you decide to post something incredibly selfish and stupid in these forums you'll think twice about it...
I'll be coming in to work about two hours earlier tomorrow in the hopes of leaving two hours early.

    But normally? Rarely to never.

Question: Is the idea to create a look that is as close to identical to a signature Hero/Villain as you can get, or will "cosplay" like costumes be considered?

    What I mean is...

    1) Would an African American heroine who wants to dress as Ms. Liberty have a chance against someone who makes an exact copy of Sister Psyche?

    2) Would an 11 year old who wore the Statesman costume his mom made for him have a shot?

Cool! (I completely missed this thread until today.) Hopefully there will be a M&G. If there is, I'll be there, but I don't really plan to attend the actual convention this year.
  11. Started playing at the beginning of 2008, and really, not much has changed in my life since then.

The biggest event in my life since I started playing was that my father passed away.

    Other than that,

    I have the same house,
    The same car,
    The same job,
    The same pets,
    And the same friends,

I haven't gotten married, or divorced; haven't had a child; haven't gone back to, or graduated from, school; haven't taken any vacations to exotic places, or made any life altering decisions. In short, my life hasn't changed. And thus the reason I don't have a Facebook account.
  12. According to the wiki it's lvl 10-50, but that doesn't sound right to me.

  13. Back when I started playing, I used to 1) come up with a concept, 2) create a character with powers to suit that concept, and 3) try to find a name to fit the character.

That was when I had maybe eight or 10 characters. Now with dozens of characters spread out over several servers on two accounts, my approach has changed. Sometimes I still follow the above three steps, but since I'm more familiar with what I like to play and what I don't, now I mainly think of a name and check to see if it's taken. If it's available, I come up with a powerset to fit the name, and then a character to fit the concept and powerset.

A couple of my rules though are:

    1) There has to be a logic (in my mind) why a character has a certain combination of powers; i.e., and origin story. For example, a Bots/Dark MM, just doesn't make a lot of sense to me because of the dichotomy between technology and magic. Likewise an Archery/Fire blaster. (I know you can come up with creative reasons to combine such powersets and have them make sense, and I'm really not looking for any.)

    2) The character has to have a bio. Unless the character is currently just a nameholder, or is there to invite alts to a SG/VG, s/he has to have a decent bio. I only have one character I can think of that I have played for any significant amount of time who doesn't have a bio, and it's only because I cannot think of one for him that doesn't seem clichèd.

My final question is, how many people actually read the responses in this type of thread? I know I rarely read past the first page, or even half page.
  14. Reminds me a bit of the following story, which in my opinion is much less frivolous:

Pittsburgh father and son go to Libya to fight for rebels
  15. I was going to post several of the suggestions Bubbawheat put up, so instead I'll just say I think the channel woule need a name other than Second Chance.

To me a true "Second Chance Channel" would be one that renewed shows that were cancelled before their time, not just reran them. A channel consisting only, or mainly of reruns, would be better called the "Second Look Channel" IMO.

    Oh here's a possibility I don't think anyone mentioned:

    Jericho
  16. Without nigh-invulnerability, and/or invisibility/intangibility; much greater super strength, and/or more powerful offensive weaponry; and the ability to travel much faster (i.e. flight, or long distance teleportation), I think it would be too risky to fight crime in such a suit on any kind of macro scale. Particularly when you say that flame and bullets would cause no harm, but great discomfort.

If I could wear it comfortably, I might still use it in situations like stopping a mugging, or standing up to looters after a natural disaster - but going after drug lords/organized crime, and the like? No way. Mainly I'd probably use it to make my daily life easier/more fun.

Another real possibility would be if I could find a way to safely sell it to the government or local law enforcement for enough money to remain comfortable for the remainder of my life, I'd sell it for say $100-million tax free.

Honestly curious here - are you saying this because our ability to complain without the threat of punishment is not guaranteed by law?
  18. Honestly, my biggest gripe with Going Rogue a year later is that it still doesn't go to 50. I don't start any new characters there, and I have a couple of characters parked around level 16-18 in Praetoria waiting for the higher level content because it just doesn't make any sense for them to get to a certain level of power and then just abandon their home. This is especially true for the Resistance members IMO.

If the Devs create Praetorian content that goes all the way to 50, I will definitely start more characters there.
  19. Hey Paragon Studious - how about a little less goofing around on Facebook and a little more getting the freaking game to work?
  20. The thing that upsets me is, I've been stuck at work late, so I haven't been able to log on to the Beta server to try to get one of the giveaway codes.

While it's true that GL stands to make a pile o' cash off the latest re-release of the Star Wars movies, I wouldn't really consider the movies themelves his cash cow. I think ILM and his other technical endevours are what are truely making/kepping him rich these days.

Yes, the SW franchise is a license to print money, but I think he needs to move on to new things rather than continually rehashing the old. Enough with the Blu-Ray dvds and the 3D movie re-releases. Get off your butt, George, and give us the live action SW TV show you've been talking about for the last six years!

For the record, despite being a huge SW fan, I have no plans to buy these new videos, not will I probably see the PT films in 3-D when they come out.

As for why people are mad at/hate GL for tweaking the OT movies - it's because he's messing with their childhood. Han shooting first was one of the most bad-*** things my 10 y.o. eyes had ever seen, so 20 years later when he decided Greedo shot first, he peed on that memory of mine. Though honestly, these latest changes... *shrug* I have my theatrical versions of the OT on dvd, so if he really does want to make Vader pink next year, I won't care.

Pfffft. Everyone knows the god of fluffy bunnys is the Black Rabbit of Inlé.
  23. By that same token, could one survive the initial blast of a nuclear detonation by hiding by Captain America's shield? Sure the radiation would kill you eventually (maybe instantly - not sure if radiation penetrates Cap's shield) but would the shield protect you from the initial blast wave and the heat?
