There are stronger heals than those of Empathy?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think he was talking about Twilight's Howl or a Transference. Either way, he didn't really appreciate an Emp's power to heal, let alone buff.
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, I do have 3 (50) emp/arch toons
[/ QUOTE ]
Having a "weaker" toon has made me into a much better player. Although I have done what I can to build a better toon with IOs and power choices, a huge amount of what my toon can or cannot do depends on how I play her. It took tons of practice to figure out the best way to play my toon's abilities. That's the point, a point that AE toons don't get. That's why they often quit when the going gets tough. There are many times when I've had AE babies quit on me after one team wipe (in the first mish, when everyone's PUG and still figuring out how to mesh) or are unable to survive through a single mish without a certain type of support toon. I see these toons again and again on various PUG teams and they never seem to improve much. Why should they? They can always go back to the safe and boring world of AE farms.
There's a lot to be said about the value of strategy and teamwork, which are things that are learned with patience and commitment.
I love my toon, I love making her better, and thus I have made a gal with "garbage-worthy" AT into something that is JUST PLAIN AWESOME! -
I've been using Stealth and Invis. for a while now on several of my toons and I love them both. However a friend recently suggested ditching the pool entirely in favor of getting SuperSpeed and slotting with a +stealth IO. His arguement is that stealth slows you down, eats end., and leaves you more open for sharp-eyed baddies like Rikti drones.
What do you guys think? Which is better? Taking the concealment pool or slotting SS? -

What are these players doing that you can't explain to them how to improve?

None, and the best way to help them improve is by telling them they should reroll, go through the tutorial and read what's written, then play up to level 20 before touching AE again.

For me, even that is not enough to play your toon well.
When I first hit 50 with my first toon, a vet told me to trash her because "an Emp/Archer is a crappy AT, low dmg, slow activation, and weak heals." It hurt to hear because I loved playing my toon from 1-50, Atlas to PI, through lots of TFs and Trials. However, I took it as a challenge. After 6 Respecs, over a billion spent on Enhancements used or tossed, hours of testing and tweaking over 2 builds, I feel that I've reached a point where she's really DOING something well out there in Paragon. She's def. considered an asset among teammates and TF buddies on various tasks from killing GMs to running a LGTF. What I like about my toon is that she's kinda an underdog. Someone I have to work and work and work to compensate for weaknesses, and rejoice in her victories.
The thing about "ae babies" is that they're often toons that are about easy xp or easy win. I see so many of the same ATs played in the same way. There's no such thing as an "all defender" farm in AE, because the defenders are built so one-sided, they can't handle aggro or do any sort of dmg.
Long story short: It takes a lot of work and experience (not xp) to play a 50 well. There's no way you can provide all that in a simple explanation to a newbie. -
Welcome to Triumph, the server you leave, but never really leave...or can leave. Pst me if i'm online and u ever need help @mintmiki

seeing this post inspired me to try a sewer trial this morning. Was great fun, though we failed
We needed mod8! (and two more people)

I think that's a big difference with Triumph people. We love showing new people what the game REALLY has to offer. Keep jumping right in like you have been when you have more time to "lurk" again.
(Also...aww c'mon! Number 10? And Imeco is number 1?!? I don't even know what an Imeco is!!!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol, Imeco's no.1 mainly because I happened to team with him the day that I went to another server and realized that the "best" of them doesn't hold a candle to who we have on Triumph. Plus he's an emp, my first and fav toon is an emp. Gave me hope to know that a "healer" can be more than a buffbot.
Don't feel so bad, your no.10 moment beat out my first Eden trial, Watching the carnage of a fake AE farm Crimson stocked with decked out longbows and impossible AVs, judging random CC in Atlas for other SG, etc. etc. Plus yours was one of those NINETHOUUUUUSSSSAAAAND!!!! moments. I get those moments during speed tfs too when I see peeps solo avs or huge groups of aggro.
A huge amount of wht I've done (countless TFs) is almost entirely thansk to TW. I think i have snow globe to thank for making that. Thanks snow globe! -
Well, I'm off on another stage of life and won't be able to "lurk" quite so much on COh as I have been for my first 3 mos. Therefore I thought I'd share y'all (in gratitude) my 10 favorite moments on Triumph.
10. Watching Cath's tank solo Hami surrounded by tank corpses.
9. Killin Lusca in like 10 minutes with the Dolls in a bikini
8. My first Frostfire mish.
7. Doing Dr. Q with a team of 5 blasters, 2 tanks, and an emp that was so awesome that 5 hours just flew by!
6. Surviving, keeping up, and actually helping in a speed tf with one of the following: mojo, infy, cancer, malkore, or crimson
5. My first 3v3PvP on Friday night. Thanks for the chance!
4. EoE farming monsters in PI in prep for the Hami Raid
3. Failing and winning STF twice with Leo
2. The day someone introduced me to TW
1. One day, a friend invited me to come to Guardian to run around with him. In Atlas, a noob was spamming on broadcast, "AE mish lf healer, no need to do anything but watch and heal, cause that's what healers do." Then his buddy proclaimed him, "The best player on the server." Came back to Triumph and did a killer Khan tf with an awesome emp name IMECO who did not simply watch and heal but debuffed and attacked WHILE buffing, and THAT was the best moment I had on CoH. Because that's when i realized that the players on Triumph are AWESOME.
Thanks so much everyone for the best gaming experience ever! -

A PuG pvp team needs a vet on the team to show the new people how targeting works, also give a team a fighting chance so people dont get too discouraged.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or feel totally worthless. That's the hard part about starting up in Pvp, u feel like deadweight or target practice.
Either way, I appreciate the practice and event. If you guys keep doin it, I'll be happy to join PvP on a more regular basis. -
Had a chance to participate in some matches. Great fun!
Thanks very much -
happens with the council bots too, was annoying during last night's citadel

Is there any in-game way of checking your current numbers for defense/hit points/etc.? I've met players who can tell the exact numbers a buff gave them and their current numbers of defense or hit points. Are they using a seperate program? What is the cmd for that?
-
came at start time, broadcasted lft for 30 min, was ignored for 30 min, left.
-
What are the benefits of one set of enhancements over the other? I currently have my toons stocked with IO sets and loving the bonuses, but I'm wondering if the Hami-Os would make a difference instead? What are the benefits of Hami-os over IO enhancements?
-
awesome advice!
Got the badge and the accolade. Thanks everyone.
That targeting bind saved me a huge amount of time! -
I'm working on gettting the tracer badge, but it's taking me forever to hop around talos and steel looking for tsoo sorcerers. Would it be better to try and exemp onto a tsoo mish or keep hunting around the streets? Where can i find more sorcerers?

what an Imeco is... (and you would have to be from Tri to understand this)

I've been playing on triumph for three months and I still don't know that and a "poptart" are, but they seem to be everywhere.
The only answer i've gotten about it is, "you don't want to know..."
btw.
new to the game, and started on triumph. luv it! -
My first toon finally hit 50, and I'm having even more fun with the game than when i started. The content at lvl50 is still pretty difficult, and the TFs are always a challenge. There are still plenty of times when mishes and TFs fall apart with all lvl50 toons because it's too challenging. I'm finding that it takes a while to get to the point where you can build a toon that can do so much mega-destruction solo on a lvl50 mish set at invinvible that it's actually boring; and the TFs are near impossible solo even if you find people to help you start it.
To get the highest level enhancements, it takes thousands of kills at lvl50 or a cool 100mil inf per enh. And have you even tried PvP? I haven't even gotten there yet.
I've started working on getting some of the accolades for my toon, and that's fun. I'm also a big prestige earner for my burgeoning sg. Sometimes I join a lvl2 crew and exmp through the sewers with them to earn prestige.
The best part about being a 50 is that you stop being fixated on the "getting xp" thing and you just play the game for fun. There are so many options in the game through enhancements and respecs that you never get bored. Even on my lower toons, it doesn't hurt so bad when I incur debt.
In addition to all that, you can take the cool 10 mil you earned running a single TF and hold a costume contest at Atlas. -
Sometimes when I play for too long on my macbook, my cursor disappears. It still "works" but it's invisible, which makes clicking on windows and toggles a major pain. I usually have to restart to get the cursor to reappear. Anyone else have this problem?

According to Paragonwiki:
"As of Issue 11 characters are now able to earn Respec Recipes as rare drops from the enemy defeat recipe pools which, upon crafting the recipe, the character will receive a Free Respec as long as that character currently has no Free Respecs."
Are respec recipes like purple drops (i.e., they have a 1/5000 chance in dropping)? Or are all those respec recipes sold at WW the result of Respec TF completions in Terra Volta? -

Brilliant answer. USEFUL, detailed, and concise.
I will def. check out your guide.

I'd rather shell out for the IO.

dump the Emp/Archery and play a debuffing primary, secondary or both.

ouch.
I like my emp/archery. It's not the best, I know, but it's fun making her better
