Just out of interest, what uses does this power actually have? Is it literally just for people with a lot of control effects on their primary blast set, or does it boost the effects of stuff like hasten as well?
-
Welcome aboard guys.
1) Blaster - Union-Flag
2) Blaster - Little Timmy 9 Shoes
3) Defender - Marie Currie
4) Scrapper - Red Mao
5) Tanker - Carronade
6) Scrapper - Vig'rid
7) Blaster - Heat Fulcrum
8) free
One more space left. We've got a lot of DPS now so ideally we need a healer or a good troller. -
Hi all,
I've been toying with the idea of picking up some of the defensive powers from the power pools and then using power boost to hype up the bonuses into something respectable during fights. Is this a plausable tactic or are the bonuses from the power pool's just too small to make any impact? Also, which power pool powers offer the best defensive bonuses for a blaster?
Cheers! -
Groovy, it'll be good to have you.

Hi all,
New Dawn Patrol are going to be hitting the Sister Psyke TF this saturday afternoon. If you've not done it before then Please do come along, it's a great laugh as Freakshow are a blast to fight in a big group.
Team so far:
1) Blaster (nrg/nrg)
2) Blaster (nrg/dev)
3) Defender (rad/rad)
4) Scrapper (kat/dark)
5) free
6) free
7) free
8) free
Due to the big spawns on this one we could really do with a good tank and someone with a bit of crowd control. Also our defender is specced as a debuffer and can only really fill in as a secondary healer, so anyone who wants to take on the roll of primary healer would be very welcome.
We'll be meeting in Independance Port at about 2pm (i'll confirm times closer to the day).
Post here to book your slot and come kick the cans with us.
(note: although NDP is a casual RP sg, we're not treating this as an rp day so don't be scared of us)

Are people going to try this again? If so then I'm up for it.

I tend to agree that you can tank without taunt, but I've never been tempted to drop it for something else.

That's the best way to sum it up IMO. If you're just starting out then go without it until lvl20. You'll have much more fun leaping about getting aggro with your auras and aoes. But once things start to get serious then it's a LOT easier to have it. Tanks are one of the ATs where it pays to massivly overspecialise in one thing. Don't worry about loosing attacks from your chain if it means you get better aggro grabbing powers. My attack chain is just KO blow and kick and I do ok (mind you I don't solo). -
Anyone want to get together and take on the Freakshow tomorrow? Lvl 20-25, fantastic xp. Probably kick it off later morning and run through the afternoon.

To all you guys who I teamed with in Striga last night, just wanted to say sorry I didn't get time to say goodbye properly and thank you guys for a great team. The net cafe was closing literally as we were dropping the final mob on the mission (now THAT'S timing).
If any of you wanna team up again any time, give the Russian a shout...just so long as the mission doesn't involve any hostile CCTV cameras. -
Hey all,
I run a pretty small Supergroup that's really keen to join a big coalition. The SG itself is RP based, but as I've said in the past we're basically just a group of mature players who enjoy the odd RP mission and 90% of the time we're just regular gamers. Recently we've had a real problem finding decent team mates (the SS tf aside) and though we don't want to disband the group and join a large SG, we would really like to get more involved with larger supergroups.
Anyone want to help us out? -
Hope the friday TF went well. I'm still reliant on internet cafes for COH til Bulldog pull their finger out, so evenings are a pain.
-
Quick post to say thank you to everyone who took part in our attempt at Sister Psyke's TF yesterday. Though we eventually failed, we made a pretty good go of it and the fact that we held our ground for a while (even though we were down to 5 lvl 21s against huge spawns of lvl 25s) shows that we gave it our all...and that we should all be playing blasters.
Special thanks to Heald for being the best darn Empath I've had the pleasure of teaming with. The rate we were tearing up those spawns of +5s, you'd have thought that we were fighting Helions.
Next time Freakshow! Next time! -
Quick bump since it's starting in 3 hours.

I agree you'll have to learn to like Knockback, but from what I've read I think you're finding yourself on the wrong teams. FF/nrg defenders really come into a class of their own when you have lots of ranged squishies on the team. A Tank won't really notice the bubbles you put on him (well he probably will if you have enough SOs but he can survive without them) but a line of blasters will love being safely clustered inside your PBAOE sheilds. Add to that the fact that if anything gets past the tank and makes a run at you, you have enough knockbacks to send them sailing back into the tank's gauntlet range. You job is not to run around madly buffing everyone but to act as an unbreakable wall for your valuable damage dealers.
-
You are more than welcome...especially as a blaster.
Like I said, it's pretty light hearted RP. To give you an idea the current members are,
Red Mao: A sociopathic swordsman, possible related to Mao Tse Tung.
Marie Curie: 19th century scientist made imortal by the discovery of "magic radiation"
All American Russian: "Stalin's back, but this time he's on our side!"
We're not exactly The X-Men. -
New Dawn Patrol (Defiant's only RP supergroup) are going to be attempting to win over the favour of Sister Psyche this Thursday by taking down a whole lotta Freakshow.
It's an RP TF but with emphasis on the TF side of things before the RP side. Basically excpect plenty of hero banter on team chat but don't worry about having to sit around doing nothing while people type about how their character is going to do some shopping.
We have 3 people so far and we'd love to have some more along, so if you fancy a daft afternoon of Freak-bashing (not to menion an SO and some juicy XP) then we'd love to have you along.
The Taskforce will begin at 1PM in Independence Port however we'll be online for most of the morning so feel free to get hold of us sooner (@ All American Russian). Or post here and I'll get hold of you on the day.
Here's the backstory to the mission for those who like to get their teeth into things:
It's a tense time for the young members of New Dawn Patrol. The rampage of the Clockwork King has finally been stopped and both Positron and Synapse have agreed to endorse the team, however the victory has come great cost. Union Flag, the group's founder and mentor, stands accused of murder and leadership of the team has fallen to the ruthless swordsman, Red Mao. Things are bad, but there is no time to pause and reflect this time, Sister Psyche has uncovered a riddle and it looks like the answer lies in the iron jaws of The Freakshow. With their leader gone and half the team busy searching for him, Red Mao, Marie Currie and The All American Russian must march into battle once more...But this is a task that even they cannot complete alone and so the request goes out to any hero who is willing to stand up and be counted. NDP calls for aid, will you answer? -

There is an RP version of this post on the RP forum for anyone who is that way inclined. -
Force Bolt is one of the most underrated powers in the game. I've lost count of the number of team mates I've saved by knocking back a mob that was about to drop them or by keeping a boss pinned down in the corner.
-
Rolled up a bubbler for the first time yesterday. I'd decided that TA/Archery was a bit dull so a friend and I made pair of FF defenders, I took Dark secondary and he took psionic. After a day of playing them I've noticed a few things.
a) We weren't what I thought a defender would be, we were a pair of blasters with high defence.
b) Because bubbling people doesn't cause much aggro, we were able to use snipe in combat almost all the time, so long as we stayed out of melee.
c) Two identical characters both using Flurry on a mob looks very cool.
d) I absolutly love defenders.
Bubblers just seem so hard in pairs, we played all day and hardly dropped below half health once. Only time we died was when we got cocky and tried to do some high level hollows missions and even then we were the last ones to hit the floor.
I've noticed that FF aren't mentioned very much on this forum. Is there some big downside to them that I've yet to encounter? -
Things look tense at New Dawn Patrol HQ folks!
Having been rescued from the clutches of the Clockwork King, team leader The Union Flag has spent the last month recovering at home. Now, thanks to medical assistance from a mysterious group calling itself The Sky Riders the pride of London is back on duty, but a lot can change in a month when you're a masked crimefighter. Chinese buzzsaw Red Mao is now in charge of the team and has hired a new blaster named Little Timmy 9 Shoes to take Flag's place. Freedom Phalanx member Synapse has agreed to sponser the team's new HQ building, Mao has defeated monsterous Lusca and Frostfire is back behind bars thanks to The Green Spector. With things going this well will the team even want the man who brought them together back at the helm? To make matters worse the evil Tsoo are back, looking for revenge on NDP and their new leader.
Can Flag win back his teammates?
What are the true intentions of the Sky Riders?
Will the Tsoo finally silence the young guns of NDP?
Find out on tomorrows special feature length episode of New Dawn Patrol (the animated series)!
((Defiant's only RP supergroup is hitting the streets all day tomorrow. We'll be running stroy arcs in the 20-25 region focusing on the Sky Riders and Tsoo. If you'd like to join in (even if you don't RP regularly) then send a tell to @All American Russian any time tomorrow and come get in on the action.)) -

Ah but its not the swearing that makes Bill Hicks funny, its the smoking, I mean its his view on life, or his hatred of the human species at least
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually Hick's philiosophy was based on a profound love for mankind. That's what made him so powerful. Underneath the angryness he was basically a hippy, his angry style was born of a frustration at the direction of the world and as a way of promoting his veiws without seeming like an airy fairy Hari Krishna type. If you want hatefull comedy have a listen to some of Lenny Bruce's later stuff.
I think swearing can be funny. I know a few good routines by people like Alexi Sayle and Tony Allen (nobody has ever done sweary like the original Comedy Store lineup). The Tony Allen one is one of my favs and is about gender politics and the Alexi Sayle one is a 3 minuite high speed nonsense monologue which is made up entirely of profanities, it's funny because of how long it goes on and how every time you think he's finished he makes up something even filthyer. -

everyone remember profanity filters offhehe

You know, you don't have to swear to be funny. Not all humour is as base as South Park.

"I once said to Bill, 'Bill, why do you always have to use all those dirty words? Bob Hope doesn't use dirty words.' Well, Bill didn't like that very much...to be honest I'm not sure Bill liked Bob Hope very much either."

I had full comedy sets and song nites scripted on my SWG Wookiee, used to just tour the cantinas every weekend doing shows. Ironically I'm probably going to be too busy with IRL standup to make it along, but if you come up with a date I'll see if I can get online for a bit.

hehe i sense all those lab coats are gonna get real confusing real quick
-
Thanks Zap. I've posted on the joining forum, hope to see you in game.
