  1. To a sackthingy, donut's are as sacred, as Catnip is to a Kitty.

To a sackthingy, donut's are to be worshipped, as a good steakbone is to a Puppeh.

To a sackthingy, donut's are to be adored, much like Mindy and Fey adore their... "toys"

To a sackthingy, there is no greater glory than to bask in the radience of a donut and nom.

In this case Sometime after Cole becomes an incarnate.
    Again. you are Assuming.

You are assuming that the Reichsman world was like our world.

We don't have any proof that their timeline follows our timeline.

    Quote:
The Nazi party before Hitler was a noname political party that had very little support. It was Hitler's rhetoric that pushed Germany back to war and such. Without hitler you have no 3rd reich and no Nazi Germany and no WWII... thus no Reichsman. Even if Cole supported germany and took control of it it would not have been called the 3rd Reich.
    Again. You are Assuming.

You are Assuming that the Nazi party in the Reichsman dimension happened at the exact same time as the Nazi party in our dimension.

You also Assume that the events leading up to the creation of the Nazi party as we know it were identical to the events that formed the Nazi party in the Reichsman Dimension.

You Assume that Hitler was responsible for the rise of the Nazi party from obscurity into popularity in the Reichsman Dimension.

You Assume that without Hitler, the Nazi's would have not used the term 3rd Reich in the Reichsman Dimension.

    Quote:
So to accept that Cole became Reichsman you have to given him a reason of how he went from his origin and path to what he became which it just doesn't fit. Even if Cole accepted the Nazi party, which I could see happening given his past, his Cole's personality leans more towards the world, and not any individual or single entity which was caused by him searching for Well of Furies. Reichsman attitude is subservience to a nation which doesn't fir his MO.
Again, all of this is based on the assumption that Marcus Cole was inherently good and that the history of the Nazi party and the World Wars is identical to our own.

We do not know that. We can safely PRESUME though that the sequence of events and timings were different.

    Quote:
For Reichsman to exist Cole would have to suddenly start hating Jews for no apparent (as of yet known) reason. I very much doubt that would happen as Cole was well traveled and likely accepting of cultures by that time and not to mention grew up in america and already viewed Germany as the enemy.
    Again, you Assume.

You Assume that Marcus Cole from the Reichsman dimension is the same exact Marcus Cole from our dimension, and that at some point after Marcus Cole went to Germany, the timelines diverged.

    QUIT ASSUMING

If we accept the presumption that the timelines of the Reichsman Dimension, the personalties of the Reichsman Dimension, and the events of the Reichsman is inherently different, which is a presumption we can safely make based on how we know how the Multi-Verse works in-game cannon...

Reichsman is Reichsman because He's Reichsman.

There doesn't have to be some magnificent event or brainwashing to convert our Version of Statesman / Marcus Cole into Reichsman.

Quit. Trying. To. Fit. Our. Timeline. And. Our. Dimensional. Events. Into. The. Reichsman. Dimension.

There. Did I spell it out for you enough this time?

... that tells me you didn't read his post, or at least did not understand it, but I will grant that this is actually a hard concept to work around.

They don't do one because just one archtype affects all of the archtypes.

Let me try to put it like this.

    Ever build a birdhouse?

Okay, you have 6 square walls, a large hole in one wall with a small hole underneath, a little peg that goes on the front, and a wire hanging from the roof.

Now, cut out all 6 of these walls, but you only put 4 of these walls together. You have the roof, the floor, the bit with the hole in the middle, and one of the side / back walls.

You put the project aside because something came up... and go back to it later.

When you pick the birdhouse up, you find that you cut the roof and floor segments un-evenly, looking more like a trapezoid. The panels are also poorly trimmed, so there are various bumps, ridges, and indentations in the already built construction. So the last two wall pieces you cut... don't fit. You also found that the hole for the peg for birds to perch on is too large for the peg, and the whole for birds to enter in is too small for the birds in your area. And you accidentally put the panel that was supposed to be the roof, on the bottom, so the whole contraption would hang upside down.

    ***

This messed up birdhouse is pretty much the state of the Dark Powerset today. The sets mesh and work with each other as is, but not all archtypes are covered.

Now, lets say that Dark Control is one of the side walls that needs to be put on. Fine, it could easily be sized to fit the odd shape of the birdhouse and put into place.

However, now you have the other wall to worry about. Will it fit? Will the contraption make sense?

So in order to "fix" the birdhouse, you'd have to redo both panels at the same time, making sure to match their build to the existing structure.

    ***

What you want, to put this analogy for the Dark Powers, is you want the developers to go ahead and cut a panel for dark control and smack it on the birdhouse and say "job done" and just get on with it.

The reality is, at some point, if the devs want to complete the job, their going to have to go back and metaphorically, put that last panel into place. What happens if they measured again on Dark Control? What happens if Dark Control has metaphorical bumps, ridges, and indentations?

    ***

The blaster set is really the peg and wire hanger. They aren't big issues, and rather easy to fix, but even if you did them first, you'd still have an incomplete birdhouse.

    ***

This is why the developers can't do just one and get it over with. They need to do all three power sets at once:
    Quote:
    Dark Control/Dark Miasma for Controllers
    Dark Control/Dark Assault for Dominators
    Dark Blast/Dark Manipulation for Blasters
They need to make sure that the power-sets don't overlap infrastructure that is already in place, so they don't do things twice.

    ***

And no, shattering the metaphorical birdhouse and starting from scratch is not an option.

Basically for Nazis to exist... Everything in Earth Prime must be very very close so close that it is more likely that they are exact same till the divergence point than it is that they aren't and until it says otherwise they are...

In other words the difference in Axis America is what Cole does after becoming an incarnate and not before.

Given the way he speaks and the his accent this indicates that he was likely Brainwashed in some way.
Durakken : you are missing the point.

You are assuming that at some point the Primal Earth history and the Reichsman History were one in the same dimension.

You are assuming that this point of history is comparable in the terms of the two dimensions.

You are also assuming that Marcus Cole is inherently good and noble in all of his dimensional incarnations.

    ***

We, at this point, don't have any proof that the history of Primal Earth and the Reichsman world are linked. As far as the game's current lore dictates, there is no distinction upon whether or not the Multi-Verse as we experience it through the High Level Peregine Island arcs is indeed a splintered possibility of various realities stemming from a common timeline: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Multiverse

The only indication that their might be a splintered timeline can be found in the Shadow Shard, where there is only one Rularuu the Ravager out of all of the dimensions, and that a portal to the Shadow Shard would take entities to the same Shadow Shard, regardless of their starting dimension.

    ***

As we don't have any proof that the worlds are actually linked at any point in a relative time line, their histories cannot be compared.

The History of Reichsman's world does not require Marcus Cole to be inherently good. It does not require Stefan to have been present. It does not require the advancement of George Hamidon.

    ***

Since the history of Reichsman's world does not require that Marcus Cole have been inherently good and noble, there's no reason to think that he was good and noble in that dimension.

It's very possible that he was downright twisted and evil from the start.

    ***

So, we get what your going for. You are looking for some kind of massive reason "why the good Marcus Cole would do something so evil and become so evil"

Well. Drop that thought. Consider the possibility that Marcus Cole was evil from the start, and Reichsman is Reichsman because he's Reichsman.

  18. I'm not sure if Technical Issues is the right place for this... but since this will affect anybody who has EVGA branded equipment... , it's probably the better place.

Short version is this. Yesterday I indicated in a support thread that Nvidia's last exclusive top tier partner, EVGA, was looking at producing ATi graphics cards and products.

Today, on HardOCP, it's been confirmed that one of EVGA's longtime European directors is no longer with the European branch. It's not explicitely stated that the person, Hans-Wolfram Tismer, was fired, or that he's left the company entirely.

It's also been rumored that EVGA is pulling out of the motherboard business, a claim that EVGA's Joe Darwin laughed off.

As of right now, something is going on behind the scenes at EVGA. What that something is, nobody really knows yet. My own suspicion is that we'll see a diversification in EVGA's product line-up.

I think I've also caused Terry Makoden to run screaming out of a building at least once...

In all seriousness, I'm a "source-based" writer, and try to get answers on questions from the guys who actually make the hardware / write the drivers. So sometimes I send emails^^^^^^^^^^^(harrass the living daylights out of) specific people at AMD when it comes to ATi hardware. One of my big issues with Nvidia is that they barely ever return emails or try to explain what they are doing / why they are doing that. Even in person, locking down answers on the functions of an Nvidia product is like trying to get the history out of a car at a used car lot.

Keep an eye on some hardware review sites such as HardOCP, Phoronix, and XbitLabs...

And probably my favorite (and most annoying) place to link to is TechArp's GPU lists:

  23. nice idea, but would probably never be implemented.

While giving players access to the market servers should be as simple as allowing players to access the market servers from any point within the game, and probably would have been done now, there is the consideration that the market already has a reputations for being known as Lagworths or Black lagart. On servers such as Freedom or Virtue, the market interface can get dramatically slower in places like Talos Island or St. Martial as the system tries to compensate for / deal with masses of players access the market from a localized position.

At least with the market houses the developers can somewhat manage the number of concurrent queries and lookups being made to the market datebase.

Giving players the ability to manage or check on market prices at any place in the game would send ping rates skyrocketing into the AT&Tsphere, and cause congestion that would make Comcast's throttling look like a Knology Fiber line.

Sure, you might think that another 5Kbit stream on your 3Mbit connection isn't much to sneaze or sniff at, and it really isn't. Hundreds of those streams making connection calls, requiring table lookups? At the server, it would add up in a hurry.

So, nice idea, but at pretty impractical for the game right now.

    ***

Okay. Okay. I know World of Warcraft has such an app where you can check market prices anytime from anywhere. They also have billions of real-life dollars to spend on computer hardware to throw at the problem. I think I'm also right in saying that the Auction House for WoW was included in the game's original programming spec, and wasn't a tacked on extra. Basically, it's not a fair comparison, and citing WoW as a reason to do anything... well. It's not a reason.
  24. ... buying another GTX 260 was a bad move to begin with... but honestly. Right now buying ANY Nvidia card is a bad idea.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...14&postcount=4
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...36&postcount=6
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?p=2877563
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...5&postcount=14

At this point I got bored of searching through my previous posts for the relevant bits.

Look, here's the short version. Nvidia GTX 200 series cards are way over-priced for their feature support and performance, and they are end-of-lifed. The series has been such a collective disaster for Nvidia that their top tier partners have either started producing ATI cards (XFX), or left the market altogether (BFG). As of right now, Nvidia only has one Top Tier Partner left (EVGA), and even they've been muting the possibility of ATi cards in the coming months.

Nvidia's GTX 400 cards are not as over-priced for their feature support and performance as their GTX 200 cousins, but they are blazing hot and have massive power-requirements.

If you bought and Nvidia card after the RadeonHD 57xx and 58xx series launched: You. Got. Ripped. Off.

If you buy one now:You. Are. Getting. Ripped. Off.

    Period, stop, end of story.

    ***

Now, since you've already made the purchase, not a whole lot you can do. Yes, the RadeonHD 5850 can blow past SLI'd GTX 260's without even thinking about it, and if you really want to spend another $300... that's the way to go.

    ***

That being said, I just told somebody with a RadeonHD 4870x2 to hold off and not buy new cards although they were looking at upgrading: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=224002

Television (the developer) has a couple of multi-gpu modes active on the test server. One of the known modes does offer excellent acceleration on SLI'd cards. My own GTS 250 Triple SLI setup can push 1680*1050 with all Ultra Mode settings maxed and maintain 20~25fps atop an Athlon64 6000 and a Core 2 Duo @ 2.67ghz.

It's been indicated there is more headroom to be gained in Multi-gpu modes, and as of right now, both Nvidia's and ATi's drivers are incredibly immature at accelerating fast-pass rendering in multi-gpu configurations.

So, I really wouldn't advise you to go out and spend more money now.

eh. In all fairness. My bad experience with a Sapphire fan was the 4850, so it's possible that they did "fix" the noise problems when they got to the 57xx series.
