Keep this up and he'll do one to Always look on the Rad Side of Life.
Some things in life are rad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you buff and tough.
When you're running on low endurance
Don't grumble, don't count on chance
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...always look on the rad side of life...
Always look on the rad side of life...
If life seems jelly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to AM and RI and LR and EF.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be a team of monks
Just wave your arms and mumble - that's the thing.
And...always look on the rad side of life
Always look on the rad side of life -

Quote:I will give you credit. Not very many players have the guts to flame-bait a developer in the developer's own thread.I'm a little disappointed you didn't wait the month (or two) to have the 'right' solution for what you've stated is a long-standing problem.
Actually, I'm a lot disappointed. Subscription cancelled.
Anyways, onto the topic at hand, or rather what I wanted to comment on:
There are a few rather large issues with this statement Aliana Blue. One of those presumes that there is a single solution that will make all players happy. The reality of development is that the developers probably will not be able to please all the players with the changes. They will, however, seek to please as many players as possible.Quote:Doc, you guys have probably already figured this out, but the stopgap solutions that are currently in (namely the custom-power-selection XP reduction and now the allies/etc. one) should really get hammered down to a permanent, less harsh solution when Going Rogue actually hits. Not shortly thereafter or soon enough after it.
Another issues is the presumption that a permanent fix is possible. Given the nature of the game itself, the changing nature of content over each level, as well as the ever growing addition of content to the AE system, means that a permanent fix is not possible. Just take a quick look at the known AE exploits so far. Pretty much each time the developers nail down one known exploit, somebody else comes up with yet another way to work the system. Some of these new exploits have depended on new content being added into the AE system. Ergo, it stands to reason that as the developers continue to add content, somebody will look for ways to abuse that content.
Ergo... a permanent fix by Going Rogue, or any other date, is practically impossible. The developers rely on feedback from various beta tests to identify and deal with most possible types of exploits, but an all encompassing solution that can deal with everything AE can do, or could do... is very unlikely. -
no.
It has been stated many times, even by the developers. The Veteran rewards are VETERAN REWARDS. Get over it. -
I hate to rain on parades here... but I believe it's been made quite clear by the developers that they view the melee heavy Energy Manipulation as an aberration in the Blaster Secondaries, and that any future blaster secondaries will be more similar to Psionic Manipulation with less melee attacks and more blasting / status type effects to better fit the whole MANIPULATION aspect.
While the developers have not explicitly eliminated sword type weapons from coming to Blaster Secondary sets, the case is similar to Whips going outside of Masterminds. The developers won't say never... but it's pretty far down the list. -

It's seldom found in women,

I new someone who recited that little chestnut until I wanted to smack them
with a rolled up newspaper, and they weren't even aiming it at me.
Why a rabbit and a duck?

Quote:Too late. George Lucas and Michael Bay completed that ritual years ago. Then again, people with lots of virtues don't typically get to command demons. Clearly, we should all be as sinful as possible to ensure Demon Summoning is released as soon as possible. In-game sinfulness only though! We want the demons to appear there, not here!

Patience. A virtue seldom found in ducks, and never in rabbits or forum-dwellers.
Bonus points for anybody who gets the original reference. -

hmm. My list of people other than myself?
Randy from Something Positive. Wouldn't mind seeing his snide look on SuperHero's coming to CoH: www.superstupor.com
Amber from Miss Mab: Okay, the Furry side of the costumes would need some work to give her characters justice, but what would happen if Dan was sent to stop Dominatrix?
Phil and Kaja from Girl Genius: Do I even need a proper reason for wanting a shot at the Baron? He's obviously a Science origin Invuln tank with super strength. Gonna need some ball-gowns for Agatha though!
Howard from Schlock Mercenary: Time to paint AE a nice shade of BLAM! -

Link to a search of the US Patent and Trademark office with reference to City of Heroes.
Basically, I wouldn't get too hot about a City of Heroes 2 right now. It looks to be mostly a trade-mark protection. -
slight problem. Companies file trade-marks for sequels on a regular basis. Filing of a trade-mark means pretty much nothing.

Quote:Well, I sort of wanted to delve into that, but figured it'd be quite boring.About the only potential issue I could see in this is the Paragonwiki link, with the whole "third party, can't be held responsible, blah blah blah" legalese that would likely have to be put with it. Not sure how PS/NC would feel about it.
Back when Tabula Rasa was alive, the Community Manager had no problems adding Third Party links to the TR loader. Zerias.blogspot.com was linked a few times when I did the TR guides.
My suspicion is that content that goes onto the Loader has to be cleared by somebody in legal / community management. Theoretically, I think the same type of restrictions apply to the loading screen tips... where Paragon Wiki has been mentioned.
I "think" the developers could get around potential problems, again, with a UI upgrade on the Loader itself. To use Steam as example again, when I mouse over Featured Games I get a nice little pop-up for each game telling me a bit about the game, when it was released, and it's genre.
I'm pretty sure a similar pop-up / pop-under window placement could be used to tell people that Account takes them to Plaync.com, Boards takes them to the forums, and Paragon Wiki takes them to a 3rd party website. -

On the current CoHUpdater.exe loading screen there is a line of links at the top of the loader with:
Quote:Each of these is actually a link... but depending on a player's monitor size and monitor resolution, as well as which OS they are running, it might not always be perfectly clear that they are links... or that they aren't just one line of text.Account News Support Boards Server Status Known Issues Patch Updates
Currently, I'm under the impression that the CoHUpdater uses the IE rendering engine to display it's web-page updates, mostly as under Cedega, the loader performs pretty much the same as the old Steam loader.
Which, well, brings me to my suggestion. Currently Valve software is implementing a new version of their loader interface built with the QT based KHTML fork, Webkit. Webkit allows Valve to pull off several nifty (native-code) cross-platform tricks with the Steam UI, without having to depend on external plugins.
It'd be nice if the CoHUpdater.exe loader could be redesigned in a similar fashion, with a similar main window changing notification to clear up the amount of picture and paragraph blocks in the loader, and better blocking of the Links, as well as roll-over indications that Links ARE Links. In addition, moving away from the IE rendering engine would stop the launcher from trying to open up IE everytime a person clicks on a link.
***
Now, some of this may be a moot point already. For all I know, a UI rework using QT / KHMTL / WebKit is already in the list of Ghost Falcon's and Television's feature enhancements for Going Rogue.
***
I'd also like to propose an additional link for the loader screen. ParagonWiki is a valuable source of information for players of the CoH game(s). However, not all players know about the site.
I'd like to see ParagonWiki linked to right from the CoHUpdater.exe loader. This would make it easier for players to locate, and for new players to discover.
It would also be nice, if there was a link to all of the tips that currently are implemented in the loading system. Overkill maybe, but nice. -
Maybe the developers would accept the suggestion to move a link to ParagonWiki, and a link to the Forums, into the Loader? Of course, this doesn't exactly help with players who don't read what's on the loader anyways. I say this as I just realized Boards on the loader links here.
