I just love the view from up here. hey! Is that a mouse! no! It's a Sackthingy!

Quote:Well. Several things here.Enoying thing is...this card is not that old....not sure what happend...and like i said....it STILL runs fine with other online games....make no sense to me.
First: Nvidia's driver writing abilities are crap. On a general basis, they make the pre-2003 AMD drivers look good.
Second: Nvidia has a severe problem with thermal controls, to a point that their problems are now collectively referred to as Bumpgate, a play on words against the Watergate scandal and Nvidia's megachip manufacturing process designed to lower cost and keep performance against the competitors much cheaper to manufacture graphics cards.
Third: City of Heroes is the only shipping game to leverage OpenGL 3.x API calls. This goes back to Nvidia's inability to code decent drivers. One of the reasons I point players having issues to the OpenGL 3.3 / 4.0 test drivers is that those drivers are as close to the ratified specification as Nvidia will ever make them... before promptly implementing as many driver short-cuts as physically possible to scrape as much performance as can be had out of a processing unit.
Because City of Heroes is the only commercially released game, so far, to leverage OpenGL 3.x, it would be using different functions of your processor unlike any DirectX title. DX9 and DX10 titles have been shipping for a few years now, and Nvidia's had time to optimize the rendering paths and their drivers to work around the hardware faults or thermal issues their video processors have.
This means you can't compare City of Heroes Ultra Mode to any other shipping game... and for the most part, can no longer compare the older graphics engine to any other shipping game. Now, that comparison situation is changing. Valve's Source Engine supports OpenGL as Valve's Tech Demo of Portal running native code on OSX demonstrates. ID's Tech 5 based Rage, which should arrive Winter 2010 (but might be delayed till spring 2011) also leverages an OpenGL 3.x path. Unreal Tournament 3 has had an OpenGL 2.0 ES rendering path for the Playstation 3 pretty much since Day 1, but the upcoming Steam Linux version is reported to be utilizing OpenGL 3.x code-paths.
So, in a few months, there will be other OpenGL games (again) to compare City of Heroes against.
Ergo, right now, you can't compare CoH to any other game.

Pumbumber: since the card is registering under GPUZ, he can use the Sensors tab to monitor fan speed and temperature.
Also, for putting a crunch on the graphcis card, I'd point to Unigine's Heaven Demo. It should run under Windows Xp with both the OpenGL API and DX9 API. Now, I don't have an XP installation against Nvidia to test with myself, so it may or may not work. -
k. Can you now do that with GPUZ?
There's a little camera in the upper right hand corner of GPUZ. Click it, and it will offer to host a snapshot on their free-hosting, and give you an image link that will work in this forum. -
you don't need to use the mobility modder.
You have NT6 and a RadeonHD. Get your drivers from here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...b_win7-32.aspx -

yeah, that's now sounding like a failing graphics card...

we need your system information before we can tell you what might be going on. -
Quote:Actually, judging from the complaints and reports of problems in the Technical Issues and Bugs forum, it's Nvidia cards and Intel chips that are the ones giving the issues: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=578That won't fix the memory leak problem, which is kind of erratic, but seems to be limited to ATI chipsets for the moment, unfortunately, judging from the complaints and reports of problems on this forum.
ATi problems seem to be view and far between. -
Regen pretty much works with all scrapper attack sets.
If you haven't ever done a regen before though, I do suggest you start off with Dark Melee. Regen lacks any major defense or resistance bonus's, so you'll basically be taking every single hit that comes your way for full damage. Granted, that's not really a problem at high levels as you can easily hit 37~38hp per second base regen... and 151 hp per second regeneration with 2200 hit points with Dual Pain and Instant Healing... and that's just on SO's with no accolades.
Dark Melee's early self-heal (Siphon Life @ level 8) can take the edge off of a set that mostly relies on click heals and buffs. -
Here's an easy way to check. The maximum recharge boost possible on an avatar is 400% : http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Limits#Recharge_Rate
With this recharge base the hard limit a power's recharge can be dropped is 1/5.
The most common example you'll find on the forums looks at the Tier 9 Super Powers, such as Power Surge, Unstoppable, Elude have 16 minute, 40 second recharge timers, and 3 minutes effect on the active power. The Base Recharge rate, if capped on recharge, is going to be around 3 minutes and 30 to 40 seconds, so these powers cannot be made permanent.
Bringing this over to your mastermind... Hell on earth has a 10 minute recharge timer. 1/5 of that is 2 minutes.
The effect time of Hell on Earth is 1 minute 30 seconds.
So no. Even if you got to the 400% recharge rate, you could not make Hell on Earth permanent. There would be at least a 30 second downtime between activations. -

Quote:That's real close to the TR2 850's I have, so yes.ok last question, would this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153106 psu do the job?

Quote:I would actually contact Thermaltake and get that unit looked at. My primary system has a 600 Watt Thermaltake PurePower RX and it's pushing along a Phenom II 965 with Crossfired RadeonHD 5770's with no problem. As TechSpot reported, the 5770's power draw is pretty close to the 9800 GT, which later evolved into the GTS 250 after a die-shrink and a rebadge.Shes currently got a 700w Thermaltake with 18a. what should I be looking for?
Dug around, here it is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153039
Granted, my GTS 250 Triple SLI system has a little bit more grunt behind it. I picked up one of Thermaltake's Refurbed TR2 RX-850's for it..
Still, my suspicion is that you got a dud unit, but Thermaltake's pretty good about replacing / repairing dud power supplies. -
I think most would be scared of answering, because if anybody answers your question with a YES, the developers would see the post and quickly nerf the class mentioned.

*ish SQUISHIED*
oof... a kitten could get LOST in them there hills... -
Okay. If you are taking Focused Accuracy to slot the to-hit buff... don't.
Focussed Accuracy gives a flat 20% accuracy buff, a buffable 5% to-hit buff, a non buffable perception boost, and a non buffable perception debuff resistance.
Even if you slam the To-Hit buff into ED, you'll only have a 7.71% (54% boost) to-hit bonus, and one of the highest end-consumption powers in the game. The base on tanks and scrappers is .78 end / sec, and even if you slam endurance reduction into ED with a 98.3% end reduction, you'll still be yanking down .39 end / sec.
So, if you are looking to shave off slots, just two or three slot Focussed Accuracy with Crafted level 50 Endurance Reduction IO's. Two such Crafted IO's will put you at .43 end / sec pull down, not much off the .39 end / sec that you could cap at.
It's also a good power to throw the Guassian Chance for Build up Proc on.
***
Now, as far as your accuracy boost goes... you never are going to be in a safe range without failing to hit.
Remember, NPC's always have a 5% chance to dodge... so your best to-hit rating is ONLY going to be 95%, no matter what else you do.
