It's more of a quality of life issue, like being able to go to a burger joint in game and eating a meal. Or cleaning the streets like the clockwork in Praetoria.
Or maybe some people just want a "job" in the game and want to work. Some people love work. Superhero work is freelance and is not a structured 40 hour a week thing.
To that end, there should be condo fees that have to be paid when we log out. If you don't pay, you have to do a "squatter's" mission that has no xp or infl benefits. (but you still get a badge after doing 20 of 'em.)
I for all of that, except that the condo fees are not optional.
...of course, if I were running through the game and I saw "stuff" lying on the ground that I totally didn't need, would I pick it up? (most probably, I would) -
My theory is that they were trying to please 2 different crowds, and they made the wrong decision on both. They probably wanted to please the geek d&d board gamers and also the casual gamer.
To this end, they dummified the game for the casual gamer and made us poor for the board gamers, when they should have given all the numbers for the game boarders and made quality of living heroic for the casual gamer. So now they have it half right, since we now have numbers (but they still need to get rid of ED). Maybe in another 5 years, they'll get the other half right. -
Ahhh. So they wanted us to barter, but failed to make an efficient barter system. lol I remember back then, wondering how in the world I was supposed to meet the right guy just at the right time with the right enhancement, since there was nowhere to post it.
-
I remember not too long ago, within the last 2 months, level 50 efficacy adaptor recipes and enhancements skyrocketed like crazy. The enhancements were averaging something like 20 million, and both the recipes and enhancements were rare. Well, that put a damper on me buying any. (just not into paying crazy prices for stuff not really worth that much.)
Then one day I logged in, and there were over 50 enhancements for sale for each type, and they were going for 2-3 million. Did some benevolant billionaire get pissed and bust the overinflated price by outbuying the guy controlling the market and post them cheap?
Or maybe the guy controlling the prices got bored and moved on? But the fact that suddenly there's a whole bunch for sale that weren't listed makes me suspicious. I've seen this a number of times on various sets.
We should make a society of benevolent watchers for this, if one doesn't already exist! But we really need a good bartering system for white salvage to help the noobs and lowbies get what they need. -
I became an ebil marketeer because the devs designed the game that way. Without marketeering, I get to level 2, and I can't afford to fully enhance with level 5 enhancements! doh! I get to level 7 and I can't afford level 10 enh. Doh! I get to level 12 and I can't afford DO's. doh! I get to level 22 and I can't afford SO's! Doh!
So it's a matter of necessity to have to marketeer, or you'l be level 23 with 3 SO's and a bunch of DO's and be very unstellar. This has always been the case, even before WW. I can't understand the logic of the devs wanting heroes to be so poor.
So now I have several toons with over a billion each, and speculate on purples and pvp's and such, to get enough to outfit my higher level toons with nice sets.
That being said, I try to be as compassionate to noobs and responsible in my trading to nurture the game. Yes, I mix marketeering with responsibility and compassion. I stay away from speculating white salvage, since I theorize that over 10k for a salvage to craft a level 10 or 15 IO is out of the reach of a noob, which will frustrate him, causing him to leave the game for greener pastures, which, in the long run, is destructive to the player base (and my pocket).
But I suppose I could be totally wrong, since the devs don't care about the crazy high prices of low level white salvage, which could be easily solved by selling them at stores. That would have the same effect that it has on the prices of common IO recipes, which can be bought.
So let's all be compassionate, responsible marketeers out there, for the good of the game. -
Quote:Yep. He's trying to "redefine" a word to his usage, and when he does that, he can prove anyone wrong (at least in his head, that is.) Btw, all words are this way. It's a frame and set of rules. Change the frame or the rules, and the definition changes. He's not talking to us. We're not converted.Given this usage, you have a point, but this is a pretty surprising definition to me. I've consistently seen "nerf" and "buff" used as pure antonyms, with no reference to causality or justification. If it's tougher, it's a buff; if it's weaker, it's a nerf. Doesn't matter whether the change is the best thing to ever happen to game balance or the worst, if a power got weaker, it's a nerf, no matter WHY it got weaker.
I've never seen the term defined to depend on whether there was a good, or sufficient, reason, or even any reason at all; it's just a general term for reducing the effectiveness of a power or tactic.
Also, no informed player would stack 5-6 damages into any attack power except snipe. It was well known back then that using recharges would return more damage per minute. However, now no one can choose to slot 5-6 damages for a specialty toon any more because the extra 5 to 10% damage from doing that would be unnoticable, and the toon's damage per minute would be horrendous. Thus there's less variety now. -
Maybe you should try a WP tanker. If you're crazy enough to take quick recovery, stamina, stealth, tough, weave and maneuvers and slot IO's that have defense set bonuses, you can get over 30% defense on every type of damage except melee, ranged and AoE. (and almost 60% fire/cold def for your demon farms.) And you'll never run out of endurance.
WP also has Rise to the Challenge, a toggle which holds aggro like Against All Odds, but boosts regen and to hit debuff instead of damage. (the aggro holding toggle is probably more critical for a scrapper, which needs the help to keep the Freaks from running away.)
Couple Rise to the Challenge aggroing 10 foes with Fast Healing, Health and IO set bonuses, and you can get about half the regen of Rest (1000%), and about a quarter (500%) with no foes. (which you'll need since WP doesn't have much damage resistance except to S/L/Psi)
Only drawback to farming is WP doesn't have a damage Aura.
I use an elec/elec tank to farm -2, x7 demons and freaks (I made sure to get the farm missions at level 49) and mow right through them, but not as efficiently as a fire/kin or other comparable builds. I don't know how good it is up against +4, x8, though. -
I would consider ED to be an outright nerf. taking away 6 slotting perma-hasten and reducing it by more than half with 3 slots of diminishing returns.
Blasters got nerfed big time by ED. ED was not necessary to balance anything between any powersets. It just forced everyone to slot pretty much the same.
And Burn was nerfed. So was the whole Invulnerability powerset. They just took away and gave nothing back. It might have introduced more balance between sets, but the individual powers were outright nerfed. I'm not against balancing the game, but individual powers were definitely nerfed.
But, since the game is written by humans, errors are inevitable and changes must be made for the sake of balance. It's funny that after taking away so much, they ended up giving it all back in terms of speed of leveling up. -
whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa......
I can understand the need for more INITIALLY, when you're trying to set things up between toons, if you have maxed out all your slots in every server. If that's the case, bite the bullet and have some patience.
But to need more than 150 e-mails to yourself every freaking day???? It's people like you who run up the prices in the market. I say lower it to 50. I mean 150 every single day? What are you doing????? I can't figure out how I'd use 150 e-mails every single day (especially with a 20 items limit) unless I spent 14 hours a day trolling the market. -
If the window is working properly on one of your toons, you can go into your options menu and select save window settings, then log back on the faulty toon and click load window settings. the buttons are at the bottom of the first settings tab. (in that same window where you change the graphics settings but on the first tab)
I have this issue with certain windows or texts being larger or smaller all the time, even if I change the font size. It's very buggy. If I click on + to add another attack tray, on some toons, it's much larger and not scaled properly. But clicking on load window settings temporarily solves this, until I call up another tray, which will still be too large.
Also, you can try to enlarge the font size in that options window. It might work. But it is buggy.
And I doubt the compression would be an issue if we could select the horizontal icons (old style) format instead of this redundant system with redundant buttons and information. -
in the bottom pane of the trade window, the data for the number of bidders and items for sale are always 0, but if you click on the find button, the numbers for the number bidders and items for sale in the upper right pane show active numbers.
ALSO, I WANT THE OLD HORIZONTAL ICON-ONLY bottom pane back!!!!! You can still have a global find, get and cancel button like the old pane. The new way is like locking windows folders options to the details format without the options to select icons. The new pane is too inefficient with the use of valuable real estate. Especially with the new FIND button, having data show up in two places is redundant.
Also, I can't do a search only in one category. Suppose I click on "salvage" on the left pane, then click on the search bar and type "temp". I get recipes, enhancements, salvage, and everything else that "temp" will pull up. If I click on "salvage" again, it wipes out the search and shows all salvage.
Also, I can't efficiently cross reference recipes to enhancements when looking for the best prices using the FIND button. It's very cumbersome. I can't even go up to the search bar and delete "(recipe)" to have both show up. (not to mention the order of enhancement is different for both, so that won't always work even if it did work.
Great job in finally alphabetizing the lists!!!!! finally! no more enhancement and recipe lists in different order! Thank you very much! -
I can only assume that the reason why the devs didn't just make 20 special slots in the vault available to everyone in the global is because they support cutelittlesquirrels.com or whatever their irritating name is. At least you don't have to give your account info to them to buy infl any more. The devs must be getting a cut in the real-money profits.
Also, the fact that you still cannot invite your offline alts into your own SG (along with the non-vault option above) shows they don't care about the loner who doesn't involve himself in the community. -
According to Mid's Hero builder, I can only stack 5 of the same purple set bonuses. For example, I can actually slot all 10 purple sets into my plant/trick arrow troller (if I chose to do it), but the recharge bonus maxes out at 50% (10% each from 9 purple sets that give the bonus.) So instead of showing 90% recharge bonus, it only shows 50% bonus.
Are the purple sets also subject to this law of 5's? -
If one keeps the salvage, inspirations and enhancement slots filled, will that force more recipe drops? Has anyone tested this? And what were the results? I have heard speculation on how the random drop generator can work, and some people superstitiously do this, but does it actually work? Is there any hard test data?

The speed limit signs post different speeds depending on the graphics settings.

I would like a sticky for SG base component requests, like there is for costume part request.
I want waterfalls and wall plants and hanging plants! And a Zen sand garden! And some Asian shrines and a large cross or crucifix. Where do I post that?
And, when is someone going to ensure that ALL defeat all mishes are stated as such in the nav window? The devouring earth mishes are notorious for saying save the office workers and defeat so and so, but it's really a kill all. I've fallen for that one too many times! Working back through an already painted map is frustrating. -
Yes, making server transfers permanant would be the bomb. In fact, I may play more, knowing that I can move my newly made 50 off to another server for "storage", freeing up a slot to make another toon. I could also play with my network of friends on my main server and then jump to other servers to enjoy events as mentioned above. It would take over a decade for me to fill all the slots in all the servers. lol

I know it's out there. Something about binding the hasten to the turn left key so it ques hasten when you let go of the key, and binding practiced brawler to the turn right key, so one or the other is qued up until you activate another power, and since you hit the turn left and turn right keys often, you're sure to get both almost perma'd. (just turn often) I saw the bind codes a few years back, but wasn't interested then.
-
You can spank me for being lazy and not searching hard for this info...
How can I use a bind or macro to ensure that both practiced brawler and hasten can be made "perma?"
I believe it had something to do with binding them to the turn left and turn right keys, or some attack powers or something. Also the specific bind code would be much appreciated. -
Funny thing is when AE was going strong, I thought for sure the prices of generic IO recipes would skyrocket, since fewer people would be doing their freak farms and do AE instead where recipes don't drop, and the opposite happened! (at least for level 50 recipes)
Before AE, it was hard to find the more common 50 recipes going for under 80,000 but then it dropped to an average of about 40,000. And this was for accuracies, damages, recharges, etc... Go figure. The supply dropped (I think), but prices also dropped. I figure the demand had to have gone up, as everyone was pl'ing their alts to fifty in AE, so... why did the recipe prices fall??? AE made the non-marketeer richer, which should have made them bigger buyers. I figured people would be rushing to the market to get IO's, thus driving up prices. (the prices of the crafted enhancements did go up)
It seems there's no stopping this technique. It's so simple that I missed it. I do believe, however, that the recipe drop rate is waaaay too high (for generic IO's and yellow set IO's). So high, in fact, that freak farmers can practically keep this method afloat permanently. In 45 mins of farming, I can fill my 29 slots easily. That's a lot of recipes I'm dumping just to get that final sell 7000 items badge. Once I get that, Ima gonna sell them at stores cause I'll get double what I'm getting at WW. -
When I do flip, I try to be mindful of the actual price of fabricating the enhancment into the price. Often, since dub xp weekend, I get bids that are 5 - 10 times the cost to fabricate them. Amazing. They bid several times my asking price! But my asking prices aren't silly high at all. I win some and I lose some to lowballers, but at least my conscience is clean and I believe that I'm not frustrating players and driving them away from the game. (one of the reasons I never play CoV is the market there is totally whack)
I must say that I16 will have me playing maps more and playing the market less, but I'm always going to end the day by visiting WW and selling off what I can and filling every slot with bids on something. Seriously, though, when I'm too busy to play on a team, I can log on a toon, visit WW and leisurely buy and sell. Only takes 5 - 10 mins and I make over 2 million easy, while preoccupied in RL with something else. Not too shabby for 5 - 10 mins of unattentive effort. -
I heard there is a mish where you destroy cars for big xp. Anyone know which mish that is, or how to spawn these cars?
