    I can't confirm, but I think if you have 32 slots you will have 20 slots to spend, not 22. See, if you already spent your global slots that you got, you don't get new ones. You spent the slots on a server, now they stay on that server.

    If you have unspent slots, sure, they stay global. But if you've spent them already then you don't get them back as global. I think.

    The "two global slots" thing is only for RETURNING players, who haven't assigned any slots yet.
  2. Overall it was fun, a great league o' players, and you did a great job leading.

    The biggest disappointment was Triple Threat, when Nega Pendragon popped his shield at the exact instant we stated taking them down. Just bad luck, but still kinda a bummer.

    Regardless, thanks Champions for the new badges and a fun Sunday afternoon!

What makes me pull my hair out is folks who skip the little bubbles--Deflection Shield and Insulation Shield. Adding a bit of Absorbsion to to each of the little bubbles would at least make those folks thing a bit more about skipping those little bubbles.

  5. Correct, those are IOs. They are generic IOs, not Set IOs, but still IOs, and they won't work with out a license ($2 per moth) or a VIP membership or Tier 7.

    SOs are the ones that say Mutant or Technology or some other origin. Those will work for any level of free play.

    Some linkage: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Single_o...n_Enhancements

    EDIT: not seeing a good picture of just SOs, but here's a picture of various enhancements. Left to right they are Dual Origin, Training, Single Origin and then Dual Origin again. You can tell by the border.

    One nice new perk is that with VIP subscription you get 400 Paragon points each month. That's like a $5 rebate each month. So any goodies in the store that you might otherwise be missing out on are "free" with your VIP membership.

    The other thing you should think about is waiting for a Christmas sale. They usually have a sale around the end of the year: 7 months for $77. That's $11 per month, and with the 400 point stipend works out to $6 per month for VIP. I can't think of too many ways to have fun nowadays for $6 per month.

    Last point: Remember you have a second build on each character. You can leave your IOs alone and switch to a second build at a trainer. It works just like a respec, and you can use it to slot with SOs (which still work), while keeping your first build intact should you ever need those IOs again.

    Welcome back, and good luck. Don't for get to say "Hi" in your server forum, and ask about global channels. The global channels for your server are the best way to get teams and task forces in the game.

    I recall the arcs are on a 20 hour timer, right? So you can do one arc per day and get a reward. That's kind of what you said, but the way you said it was a little confusing. If you don't do an arc per day, you "loose" that time and it will take you longer than a week to complete all seven.

    There's a second timer from Master Gabriel (in Dark Astoria). That *is* on a weekly timer. Complete all seven arcs and Gabe will give you an extra reward: 8 Empy Merit iirc. That's a huge deal if you are soloing incarnate content. Basically it's a Rare. Save all your Empies for making Rares, use threads for side-grades for your huge stash of commons and uncommons.

    Yeah, and it could be less too, say if he never purchased a box, and only subscribed for six or nine months (with a free trial that might feel like "a year" to him).

    Your calculation seems to be correct, I'm starting to wonder if he does have 5 Tokens (Paragon Rewards) and even less character slots. If he played only a year or so, shouldn't he have just two or three?

    I may have misspoke. There's a lot of different rewards on each account now. I meant Paragon Rewards, not the unlock tokens. There's Paragon Points now too, so don't get them confused. You'll likely have 0 Paragon Points, you should have about 12 or 13 Paragon Rewards.

    EDIT: Nope, the text says "Unspent Tokens." The mouse-over pop-up mentions Paragon Rewards though. Second item from the left.
  10. I just checked the Paragon Rewards. At 13 rewards, you should have a Tier 5 which gives you access to Controllers and Masterminds. So you must have a little short of one year played time.

    Couple of options: buying some more stuff will give you rewards which might just push you over the top. So you might be able to buy some more slots and have Controllers thrown in for free, if the purchase pushes you up to 13 reward tokens.

    Or you could subscribe for a few months, have all your characters, and then when you get 13 tokens just drop back to premium. You'll still only have 5 or 6 slots to choose from, but at least you'll be able to play your Controller.

    I realize you feel this is "not as free as hoped" or something similar, but as pointed out you can now play for free, whereas before you couldn't play at all. Unless you are determined to pay nothing, there's no reason to not subscribe or buy a few small items to get your account to where you want it.

    BTW, how many tokens do you have? It should be up on the top of the screen where you see your characters.

    One Kisment +6% To Hit will of course be more than enough to increase your To Hit to the required 22%. And those are fairly easy to get.

  12. Just interjecting-- Zwill announced in the last coffee chat on TwitchTV that they were going to try to do some video tours of SG bases. You should try to watch their stream if it ever happens.

    If possible, any new SG should also try to arrange to be on a base tour, where you go to other people's bases and check them out. There are some amazingly creative people out there with way too much free time on their hands, and they do good work. But seriously, check out the base tours if people still do them. First person tours are much more impressive than video tours.
  13. Sounds good to me, I'll be there with my badger.
  14. Not sure, but:

    1. Get consensus from the League what will be done: badges, iXP run, speed, etc.

    2. Ask if anyone is new and needs explanations. Don't ask if everyone knows what to do, you'll never get everyone to respond. Ask who wants some help.

    3. Now that you asked who needs help, did you research the trial first so you can help them? Yes it helps to know what you are doing.

    4. Be clear up front what each phase entails, and also give reminders as the trial progresses. Don't expect people to remember everything you talked about in the beginning, but don't expect folks to adjust if you spring new information on them at the last minute.

    5. Be polite, fair and complimentary. You'll get a better response than if you are bossy or insulting. Remember that typing doesn't convey emotion or tone, so watch carefully what you type. I find it's best to use full and correct English as shortening the language or "l33t sp34k" can come across as flippant, rude or ignorant.

    Beyond those generalities it depends on the Trial you are running. Seen #3: know the trial.

    Super Teams

    Free players can access the global channels.

    Well, premium players can. You do need to have spent a few dollars on the game, but that's easy to do if you buy a couple of costumes or new power sets.

    The "cripple-ware" charge isn't quite accurate either. Most of those restrictions are left over from the free trials. We used to get quite a lot of spam from those free accounts, and hammering down on the chat options are what the devs found finally stops it. So most of the player base supports the "cripple-ware" features.

    On a positive front, when restrictions on free accounts are found to be not needed, they're removed. The devs have recently allowed free players to join Super Groups, since the risk there appeared minimal. So it's possible that other restrictions might be eased at some point.

    And you do have access to two global channels now: Help and LFG (Looking For Group). These are very active, and server wide; almost all events are broadcast on those channels. So you actually have the same ability as any global channel user, and you don't have to join someone's private club to get it. Just broadcast over those channels, and the whole server sees it.

    Oh, that's kinda cool. Hmm, I might have to look into that.

    CityBinder .80

    For those of us who have never used CityBinder, what *is* it anyway?
  18. KoL is a web game. It's HTML. It's not even a Flash game or something, it's just plain HTML frames and a small bit of JavaScript. There's NO WAY a "KoL type client" could be ported to City of Heroes.

    City of Heroes looks pretty bad on the lowest graphics settings, and I can't imagine that more than the lowest textures and models would be available on a cell phone. If even that much.

    Does anyone have any kind of 3D online game playing on a cell? Guild Wars? Call of Duty? Anything? I honestly haven't heard of anyone even attempting this. Even assuming that a 500MHz to 900MHz ARM CPU could keep up, I doubt the average phone has enough storage to download even a reduced graphics version of the game.

    It's an interesting idea, I guess, in a completely pointy-haired boss sort of way, but I'm pretty sure it's 100% technically unfeasible.
  19. Is the OS the same? (32 bits vs. 64 bits, Mac vs PC?)

    Did you do the "start download to get the directories made" trick?

    Those are the two things off the top of my head that would force a full re-install.
  20. The way to take a screenshot of the Enhancement screen is to alt-tab out to another program, then move that program window mostly off screen before taking the screen shot. This way the Enh screen stays running in the background.

    For example, here I've alt-tabbed out to Calculator before taking the screen shot, which I left right in the middle of the screen to show what I did.

    Forum question.

    And it does appear that the login form is trying to use https. Perhaps TonyV knows that process is flawed or bugged, but it seems to be trying at least.

    Code:

    		<!-- login form -->
    		<form action="https://boards.cityofheroes.com/login.php?do=login" method="post">
    		<script type="text/javascript" src="clientscript/vbulletin_md5.js?v=387"></script>
    		<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="3" border="0">
    		<tr>
    ....
    That's the start of the login form, not going to bore you with the whole thing.

    Forum question.

    Yeah, that's actually a good point. Why make us log in with "real" passwords other than to actually access our NCsoft account?

    Actually the NCsoft account *is* on a separate password. So why can't the forum be too? (Other than, of course, for the obvious reason: resources). If COH forums 2.0 ever happens it would be nice to be able to "bind" a user name and password to a separate CoH account (or accounts, some folks have more than one) and let us use *different* account names and passwords. (Something to add to the list 'o requested features there, I think.)

    Nightstalkers

    Do you mean Spirit Stalkers? They're in Night Ward, usually the southernmost area.
